  1. You don't need to be good at shooting as auto aim takes care of that for you. You just need to make sure you position yourself properly so you don't get overrun and be quick to take care of the most immediate threats. .....and always shoot from cover when possible, watch for incoming reinforcements, etc. RDR in this regard is more like a game of checkers than chess.
  2. Hi @jalbaugh24 and welcome to the forums. The fact is that no one knows yet whether there will be a UN2 DLC this time around or not. There has been no news if one up to this point but rest assured that either myself or someone else will post about it here in this forum if that changes.
  3. I also post update news in this forum in individual threads like thus: We also now have an update reference thread that is pinned at the top of the forum that includes links to these threads here:
  4. Ahhh.... I think I know what you're talking about now. Yeah, I heard they patched it out. I'm not against using certain tricks mind you (depending on what they are used for). I still use the MTU setting to force myself into sessions alone in GTAO. Was disappointed it wouldn't work in RDO though.
  5. As some may know, I typically create a thread whenever R* announces a new update for RDO. Since updates may possibly coming out weekly now, I thought about taking another moderators advice and making a consolidated reference thread. However, instead of compiling all the update, promo and news info in one thread, this one will have links to each of the individual ones that folks can use for reference. I will still post individual threads on these announcements where discussions can take place, etc. but I will no longer pin them. Instead I will update this one (which I will pin & lock) with links to each of the threads. Hope folks find this useful. Since this thread will be locked, please message me if you have any questions about it. 6. Foxtrot pretty much summed it up. btw, why do you think people will hate you? They may not agree with your points (I know I don't) but that doesn't mean we hate you. Makes no difference to me if someone doesn't like a game that I enjoy or vice versa.
  7. There is no private session option in RDO. ......unless you're talking about an exploit.
  8. Could be but it also may be that it just doesn't work that way. I wish I could find that other thread. Even the "experts" couldn't give a straight answer as to how the block feature worked in this sense. ....and btw, it shows me quoted in your post when that was actually Renascent's reply.
  9. Seems there's mixed signals on this. We had a discussion here where another member had been in contact with Sony. They got different answers but then connected to someone who seemed to know what the were talking about and mentioned that it did work in matchmaking. Some if the previous reps even said there was a limit of only 100 blocked users when I knew that simply wasn't the case I'm not doubting your experience and maybe it really doesn't work that way. I've heard someone else say the same. For me, out of the 300+ I've blocked I haven't run into one that I have previously done so. That could simply be a matter of numbers and chance though. Anyhow, I'll continue to do so if for anything to prevent them from connecting with me on PSN, sending msgs, and generally trying to harass or contact me outside of the game as some have done in the past. Thanks for sharing that though. Folks should know that this may not be a garauntee.

Yeah, I'd try to give them as much detail as possible. if you're not satisfied with their answer then there is a way you can escalate your trouble ticket after the initial reply. I've done it once before. Can't guarantee it will help but for just a few minutes of your time, it certainly can't hurt to try.
  11. As mentioned, I have nothing to do with the development of the game or the companies involved in making it. RDR2.org is a fan forum, not affiliated with R* or 2K. I was simply joining in the conversation. If you also want to submit feedback directly to R*, they do have a Beta Feedback site here: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892 If you don't want to submit the feedback because you believe they won't listen then so be it. That's your choice. R* doesn't have an "official" forum so it's nice to have sites like RDR2.org where we can at least discuss topics like these even though what is shared here may never be seen by the developers of the game.
  12. No worries..... While I wouldn't expect most randoms to be as friendly, there are plenty here that are. .....and I would seriously try to tap into that resource if I were you. Sorry to hear about the lack of response from R* I'm assuming you went through the Support website and not the Beta Feedback website, correct? Here's the link: https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.2861492.54410651.1552419130-1719606522.1525287356 I would submit another ticket if I were you. I have submitted several myself and all but one request was met with a response within an hour or two. The other was the next day. They say to expect a <24 hr wait time. As long as you include the correct email, they should be sending you an automated confirmation and then a notification of reply. Not sure what happened with the horse then. Griefers find ways around things in this game. Now, I'm not trying to be harsh here but personally, I would have never let them get that close to me. I would have been gone before they were even in range to see me. If (let's say) that did happen to me, and all things being equal, I would have reported them for disruptive behavior, blocked them and simply logged out of the session and into a new one. Deny them the satisfaction which (unfortunately) you fed into. I can't stress how important it is to have situational awareness in this game. Especially when playing alone. The trick is to let other people be their target. They tend to prey on the easy marks and targets of opportunity. Just don't be one of them.

Did you try R* Support like I suggested? Do you / can you play GTAO without issue? If so, I would tell them that. There is always a chance the game will be optimized to the point where you can eventually play though. .....assuming it's not some issue / deficiency on your end.
  14. Fyi.... Crouching doesn't make you invisible. As long as people are within 150 meters of you, they can see you on their radar and will know exactly where you are at. Your camp is supposed to be a safe zone but there are ways that other players can still grief you when your white flag is up. As far as your horse, open the Free Roam menu and then the Stables option. There are a couple settings in there where you can choose who has access to your horse. If you select “Me Only” then you should be the only one who should have access. You can also disable the option for other players to be able to lead your horse as well. This is one criticism I have of R* as they don't tend to publicize features or how some of them work. Every now and again they will publish an article about it and then it's an "ah ha" moment. I'll give you a few of my own personal suggestions I use..... Download the RDR2 Companion app. It's available for both Android and Apple devices. Essentially what this does is provides you with a real time view of the main map that you can zoom in & out on, see other players, objectives, waypoints, etc. It's an excellent tool to help keep an eye on other players, check your routes, etc. Take note of where red dots are and stay far away from them. As long as you are not wanted, you won't be visible to them until they are within a relatively close range. This gives you ample time to adjust your route accordingly and/or vacate an area before they arrive. Spawn into a region that is furthest (or at least further) away from where you intend to hang out. For example, if I'm going to go hunting in the Big Valley (NW part of the map), then I usually spawn into the New Hanover or Lemoyne. When you choose to join by region, the game seems to load everyone into that same general area. Once you spawn in, you need to call your horse, plot a quick route and get out of the immediate area ASAP. Once away from the are, just keep an eye out for red dots and other players that may wander into your radar range. Use the Posse Recruitment sub forum here on this site to find players you can join up with and/or the Posse page. You might be surprised just how many folks are willing to help a new player out and there is always more safety in numbers. IMO / IME, RDO is much more enjoyable and rewarding when playing with friends. You also have the option to block them. I don't know how that works on XB1 but on PS4 the option to block will take you to their PSN profile. There you can open the menu item with the 3 dots and choose block. This will supposedly keep them from joining future games with you and in the event one tries to continue the harrassment via messaging, etc., they will not be able to if you have them blocked. I have literally just under 400 players on my block list. Probably 2/3 of that are from RDO alone. .....most I will (what I call) proactively block. These are people that I notice who are harassing others or acting suspect. Since the title update, I will tend to block most red dots regardless. There is a way to escalate your Support ticket if you don't like the response provided by the initial interaction. What was their response btw? The camp icon colors are a little confusing now. There are two different shades of blue. After the TU, I was confused by this as well. If you are on PS4, hit me up, I don't mind spending a session showing you the ropes and helping you hunt. My PSN name is Kean_1. EDIT: Just saw your reply that you're on XB. Still, I would look for some company in that sub forum I mentioned.
  15. So do I.
  16. FYI.....
  17. .....and btw, this was precisely why I responded the way I did about not wanting to get into this discussion with you. When you asked for our opinion, I had a feeling what you really wanted was reinforcement of your point of view. ....and when people questioned and provided counter arguments to your points, you conveniently pull the fanboi card which is somehow supposed to diminish their legitimacy I guess. It's dismissive regardless and as I said at the beginning, really pointless to argue in that case. What puzzles me though is that you seemed receptive to the open and honest responses (even admitting they may be right in some respects) but then call them out as cheerleaders? ....ok then.

Have you opened a trouble ticket with R*? https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.29410295.990841326.1552406576-1719606522.1525287356 Not everyone is experiencing disconnect issues or if they are, the frequency in which some are seeing. I'm not sayin it's not an issue as I've had them myself (albeit rare), but you need to make sure to submit a report to R* Support if you want them to know about your case. I'm not making any guarantees they'll fix it for you but you really have nothing to lose by doing it. Welcome to the forums by the way.
  19. Personally, I never use Dead Eye in this game nor potions or food to bolster my character's abilities. As for taking out large bands of enemies, when on foot, cover is where it's at. Shoot from cover and remain in cover. When on horseback, I will circle the area making sure to keep moving and adjust my distance. I will then dismount when needed to finish them off Don't let yourself get surrounded. Watch the minimap and flanking maneuvers. When possible, engage from a distance. Quite frankly, the auto-aim really makes engagements a no-brainer. In a sense, options like this are really the difficulty setting in this game. I have mine set to a low sensitivity and find that works best as I feel at its strongest it can be too controlling.
  20. FYI....

As always, your feedback is appreciated and vital to helping us tune the Red Dead Online Beta as it grows and progresses.
  22. I appreciate that but when I have to come into this thread to justify simply trying to help people, that's kinda sad don't ya think? I wasn';t making any garauntees, trying to stifle input, etc. ....just the opposite. I pretty much summed it up early on in this thread:
  23. Yup.... "Stay tuned for a raft of updates big and small including gameplay like the Fishing Challenge, new Showdown Modes, and Target Races – along with new weekly bonuses and a lot more."
  24. Then don't send your your feedback in. I don't get the dilemma. It's just a suggestion not a door I'm closing in people's face. RDR2.org is not affiliated with R*. I'm referring them to the website R* has provided to submit their bug reports, suggestions, complaints, etc. in addition to them sharing what they want with folks here. Look, I'm not making any garauntees but if folks are going to put in the effort to describe a bug or share their ideas about things they want implemented / changed, etc., they may also want to take 1 minute of their time to submit it to R* as well. If it makes a difference, then great. If not then no harm done, right? Im not dismissing their complaints, ideas, etc. by making the suggesting. Quite the opposite. Personally, I don't view it as a "black hole". As I mentioned, there are things they have implemented that we're direct results of player feed back. Now, did they implement exactly what everyone wanted or the way they wanted it? Of course not. R* will still use their experience, vision and goals to to influence the direction they wish to take the game. IMO, we should also let them know how we feel when we think they missed the mark. I'm not happy with a lot of the decisions they've made and I'll continue letting them know how I feel. .....but then again, if you don't want to then don't. Simple as that. I'm simply trying to give people constructive alternatives here. ....or maybe that's the problem.
  25. Welcome to the forums @FREE SMOKE. Be advised that we don't allow naming and shaming on this site. You can read the forum rules here: If you are looking to form a group, our Posse Recruitment sub forum would be a better place to do that .....but again, please don't call others or thier groups by name and please be respectful in your posts to others. If you find others using racial slurs, etc., please use the report feature in-game or other appropriate channels. Thank You. https://www.rdr2.org/forums/forum/16-posse-recruitment/
