  1. Yeah, I've come close but never had myself. .....but there are YT videos of people that have. If you ever watch lightning strikes in this game from a good vantage point you can see just how explosive they can be. ....and if someone had happened to be there, they'd be toast. Here are a couple videos I found in a quick search:
  2. That's true. Although most of those freebies I never play, there is usually at least one that I will. Actually, been playing CoD MW with a friend against bots. Entertaining enough for a couple nights before the TD2 release.
  3. What can I say? If you don't want to take the advice then don't. If you don't want that help, you have trust issues, etc., then so be it. ....but I'd appreciate if you at least didn't crap on those of us who are at trying to extend that courtesy to others. Changes to the in-game economy, the implementation of anti-griefing measures, the adjustment to weapon performance like the Varmint gun, bug fixes, etc. were are all direct results of consumer input as R* stated. That's not to say the results were perfect or that everyone is happy with them but to say they are not listening is short sighted IMO/IME. Of course they will still tailor recommendations to fit their vision. It's their game. ....but that's not to say our recommendations and ideas will not help shape the future of RDO.
  4. Hi Dewy, Online really doesn't have much to do with the campaign. .....at least not yet. RDO is really about your story as an online character. ....and even then it's really just about the activities within the game. At the moment, even that is limited but you can't really think of RDO as a storytelling adventure like the campaign was. It has some story missions, side missions with some characters you might remember from the main game, PvP events, hunting, fishing, an in-game economy, etc. This is also gameworld shared with a group of up to around 40 others. .....others who can kill you if they want to or simply interact. I'll be quite frank with you though Dewy..... Given your sharp criticism for the campaign, game mechanics, lack of certain features, etc., I would be remiss if I recommended that you pay for a PS+ account just to play RDO. If you have other online games that you are interested in as well then maybe, but not just for RDO. I would say you would be likely setting yourself up for a huge disappointment. Personally, I like RDO but then again, I really liked the campaign too. I've had a PS+ account since my PS3 days so that never really factors into my decisions. I try an online game and if I don't like it, I don't play it. In your case, your betting $60 just to try an experience you're not even sure you'll enjoy. If I were you I would do some more research, view a lot of in-game footage and maybe wait for a free weekend to try it out. Sometimes there are promotions that will wave the membership for a weekend to try and get folks without one to try out their online games. That's just my take on it.
  5. C'mon Virgil. I'm all for discussions but let's try to keep it constructive rather than telling people to git gud, refer to their opinion as crying/whining or imply they go play another game. That is just asking for a negative reaction from folks. A little respect goes a long way. Let's discuss the topics but keep it civil, ok? That is the last I am going to say on the topic. Move on people.
  6. Believe it or not, it is. It's just very rare to be in the right place at the right time. I've been pretty close though.
  7. Now stop. ....just sayin'.
  8. If you're talking about the gold bars for registering for the 2-step verification, they will show up in-game. I saw an alert screen when a session was loading that specifically said I had been given those 10 GBs. ....and then I saw it in the game when loaded.
  9. I'd like to remind folks to keep the discussion civil. There is no need for the belittling, dismissive remarks and toxic exchanges that tend to result from them.
  10. The game is in beta. There is a lot missing at this early stage of RDO. Given time we will likely see a lot of things and other things added that are not currently available. R* and 2K have repeatedly said the game is in the early stages of development and there is a lot more to come.
  11. Frankly, if the game replicated realistic weather patterns based on time, frequency, etc., it would be pretty boring in that regard. The reason they do it in RDR2 and GTA was 1) because now they can and 2) to provide a sense of variety and to help create a feeling of being in a living, breathing environment. Personally, I like the changes in weather, etc.
  12. Hey @Sportty, Although you don't post much, I know you've been here for a while now. However, you may not have known this but RDR2.org is a fan site. If you want to report a technical issue to R*, you'll need to go through their Support website here: https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.2425526.786966423.1552246415-1719606522.1525287356
  13. Do you live in the SW of the US? Fog does occur in our deserts depending on location, elevation, time of day, other conditions and time of year. Obviously there is no seasonal cycle represented in the game and the weather system is accelerated to provide variety.
  14. This whole discussion on the topic in a nutshell:
  15. There is only one Free Roam at the moment and there isn't a specific posse session the game will place you in. While "Free Roam" inserts you into the game alone, "Posse Up" simply adds you to an open posse in a session. You are in a game with others that came in alone, as a "Posse Up" option, those who joined with friends, etc.
  16. Another tip would be to download and use the RDR2 companion app. It's like having an extra set of eyes since you can view the in-game map live on your phone or other device. .......zoom in / out, etc. I would echo the advice to pick up the Lancaster repeater as soon as you can and then modify it. IIRC, it's one of the first available weapons that is any good once you reach the appropriate level. Hell, It's still a favorite of mine and I'm over lvl 60+. If you're just starting out, while a great rifle IMO the Springfield won't be available to you for a while. The Lancaster is a great all-around rifle that is quite capable at hunting, defense, etc. Also, visit the posse section or the Posse Recruitment sub forum if you're looking for folks you can join. You might be surprised the support some are willing to provide a player in your position. Again, if you were on PS4 I'd offer my assistance as well.
  17. Did you try all of the recommendations listed in the thread?
  18. To what end though? My opinion won't change your opinion and vice versa. I guess my point is that I see this as an argument I simply see no reason to engage in. Your interpretation of what you feel is an open world experience is obviously different than mine and that won't change. .....and I have zero interest in trying to convince you otherwise.
  19. fyi... I went ahead and consolidated your responses into one.
  20. Hi Dewey and welcome to the forums. Personally, I find the RDR2 game world quite immersive, expansive and yeah, even open and real in some respects. I would wholeheartedly disagree with you on that point but then again, I really loved the campaign and environment mostly for those reasons. Not sure why you're trying to change other people's minds or why that would even matter. Some folks are simply not going to like the game due to certain aspects or agree on others take on it but that's fine. We all play it (or not) for our own reasons. If your intention was to bring up the point to R* about how they may describe their own game then please note that RDR2.org is a fan site (not affiliated with R*).
  21. I don't know anyone here on staff who has an inside track to get this information to someone at R* (where it would even make a difference). However, you're more than welcome to create a poll if you want or simply pitch your ideas to fellow community members for feedback, to drum up support, etc. Having said that, R* already has a place where folks can submit their feedback and it's here: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892 If people want their voice to be heard or those of others they feel are not speaking up, they have the perfect opportunity to encourage them to do so there (in a respectful manner of course). R* already uses that feedback to get a feel or "consensus" as to what their consumers want. Whether folks feel right, wrong or indifferent about some changes R* has made in RDO, some of those were a direct result of that feedback. The following is just my personal opinion but when someone pitches a "consensus" poll on a forum, I sometimes find it's more about "concessions" rather than a true look at what people or a segment are asking for. In all honesty, I'd rather voice my unabridged feedback rather than have to compromise due to what is typically a limited list of poll options that are (to be quite honest) not always objectively chosen. .....and I would rather not be represented by a poll or someone's take on what I or a group of the community value in the game which can sometimes be misconstrued. I have no problem with a difference of opinion and I feel everyone should make their voice heard which is why I continually direct them to that site.
  22. Actually, I got mine this evening and an alert screen popped up stating that I had been gifted the 10 gold bars.
  23. Hi Cap'n and welcome to the forums. If it's all the same to everyone else, I'm going to go ahead and merge this to the "how do you handle griefers/trolls" topic as I can already see this driving toward the typical circular discussion. .....and we really don't need another thread that will go down that rabbit hole. Long story short, some folks will never agree on this subject but there is a R* Beta Feedback site I would encourage folks to use to submit their ideas, suggestions, grievances, etc. Many have already done this and R* has reacted to that input (much of the recent TU was a direct result of that input regarding this topic). Whether some folks like it or not, the community spoke, R* agreed and made changes to try and mitigate the problem. ......and it's still early in the beta so things will likely be tweaked, added and removed as time passess. RDO is an ever evolving-project. I encourage everyone, regardless of their position on the issue(s) to let R* know how they feel. Don't blame others for voicing their own opinion on the topic. Everyone has the same opportunity to do so. No need to be dismissive or discourteous to others simply because there is a disagreement on what the Free Roam experience should be. .....which is the only option for everyone at the moment and into the foreseeable future. Here's a link to the Beta Feedback site: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892
