  1. At this point, it's been as easy as simply looking at your main map or the RDR2 app to see where players are on the map. I always spawn into sessions on the other side of the map where I want to be. The game seems to spawn most players together in the same area. I hunt away from others and plan my trips to butchers in towns where no one else is. .....but even when there is someone else around its relatively easy IMO /IME to determine potential threats. Players that appear in buildings that are not accessible are more than likely on the roof. .....players that are loitering, etc. I'll just go to another butcher if that's the case. Funny thing is that with the new player blip mechanics coming tomorrow you might just have to do what you described. The blip range will be cut down to 150 meters so doing a little recon before riding into town may be necessary. I actually think it will make player interaction a little more interesting / exciting myself.
  2. They didn't specify a time from what I have seen. Just the date (this Tuesday). I usually just leave my PS4 on standby so it loads any patches / updates. I have two that I'm waiting for that will hit tomorrow. .....and then a beta this Friday.
  3. Meanwhile, I've been taking advantage of the bounty of wildlife in my sessions. I never shot so many birds in this game before. There is literally double the amount there normally is for me in some cases. ......really odd. Gang hideouts and ambushes also seem to be more frequent.
  4. a) That's just my take and suggestion based on the scenarios you've mentioned but ok. b) Ok c) Yes, you did but I am asking that we move on. d) Sorry to hear that but let's try to be respectful to each other here, ok?
  5. I got all the way to Chapter 5 but then online came around and I never went back. I still have every intention of finishing the story though.
  6. I'm almost level 60 and I can't believe I never knew that.
  7. No worries. Can I be honest? You're overthinking the whole incident. They don't call it griefing for nothing and that is exactly what they were trying to do. .....cause you grief. There's nothing in it for them except the pleasure in seeing you get hot under the collar about it. When you try to communicate with them, it only serves to bolster their satisfaction in what they did to you. Mission accomplished. Like I said before, report them for disruptive behavior and block them if able. If you can't or don't want to get revenge, then go to a new session if they continue to harass you. I'm going to be quite frank and say that it seems you put yourself into some of those situations. You have to be aware of what others are doing around you especially when riding into town. If I've got something to lose, I'll simply go somewhere else. I can usually tell what people are going to do now by just observing their behavior. Please refrain from trying to label others here as such. We can still have a civil discussion without resorting to such insults. If someone taunts you with racial slurs, etc. then report that using the in-game feature. I wouldn't go around assuming anyone's motivation beyond griefing just because of your race or your character. IME, griefers / trolls are equal opportunity. Let's drop it and move on please.
  8. @thistleburns Please don't double post. If you need a thread moved to the correct section, just let us know. I will merge this thread with your other one.
  9. I think this is what you may be talking about: PS4 Early Access ContentIn addition to new Target Races, PlayStation 4 players will have early access to Open Target Races where you compete in an open space to take out the most targets on horseback. PS4 players will also get early access to the Jawbone Knife, a unique melee weapon with a handle artfully carved from the remains of a slain animal’s jaw, as well as a range of new clothing options and 3 new Emotes.
  10. Report the player using the in game reporting feature (disruptive behavior) and then block them if you're able. Talking or trying to reason with these griefers will likely get you nowhere and actually feeds into their satisfaction over what they have done.
  11. Not sure what to tell you. I've submitted probably a dozen tickets and always had a response within an hour or so. ....usually less. Sorry your experience has been different. I mentioned what they told me and it was in fact what I had said before that it was likely due to them making changes in preparation for the update. The rep confirmed they were in fact doing just that. They acknowledged the issues and the cause. The update is less than 3 days away. I wouldn't expect anything to change before then which was my point. We simply have to ride it out and see if these issues get squared away.
  12. I don't know if you've seen my previous post(s) but I received confirmation that R* is rolling back patches in preparation for the update next Tuesday. It's just my opinion but I'd hold off on grabbing the torches & pitchforks until we see how it plays after the TU launches.
  13. Another FYI.... Polygon just published an article on the subject: https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2019/2/22/18236111/rdr2-online-no-animals-npcs-glitch-bug
  14. My first computer was a Commodore 64 as a present when I was in high school. They sold tons of those things in the 80s. I didn't buy my own "real" computer until the 386s came out. ....then I started building my own.
  15. Hmmmmmm...... Ok. Don't know if I should welcome you to the forums or wish you goodbye. EDIT: Disregard, you just made up my mind with that last response (removed). We don't need that kind of disrespectful attitude here so no loss.
  16. Fyi.... I talked to a rep today from R* Support and he said they have been rolling back patches the last week or more so that is resulting in issue with the gameplay. I mentioned it before but I received a confirmation that this is indeed due to preparation for the upcoming update next Tuesday. Hopefully the recent and many of the long standing issues get resolved with that.
  17. I have the opposite "problem". Flocks of birds, herds of animals, NPCs, etc. will occasionally replicate themselves so there will sometimes be double the amount or even triple with NPCs. .....although the latter is a little rare. btw, I reported my particular issue and mentioned that many in the community are reporting the opposite. A rep mentioned that the issues in the last week or more is quite likely due to them rolling back patches in preparation for the update next Tuesday. If that's the case, we should see hopefully see improvements and resolutions to a lot of the problems.
  18. Some kind of Bonko, Bunco(?) party or something like that. All I know is that my wife is picking up sushi from our local favorite restaurant so at least we get to eat that before we need to disappear before the girls arrive. She feels bad for making me disappear upstairs I guess but I suppose that's how it works with whoever hosts the event. No biggie..... Maybe I'll binge watch a few programs and drink a few beers. My kid can entertain himself with his tablet and Legos. It's only for about 3 hours. ....now I gotta get back to preparing the house for tonight.
  19. No problem. I likely won't be on tonight or if I am, it will be late. My wife is hosting an event with local Moms so my kid and I will be making ourselves scarce upstairs. Normally I'm on about 8PM PST until about 11PM. .....sometimes longer depending on who is on, how I feel, etc.
  20. No joke. I hope it continues through the weekend. If you're serious, send me a PSN friend req. I don't mind teaming up and hunting. I have no idea what triggers these anomalies but at the very least, I have no issue with animals not spawning. ......so far. btw, the Big Valley in NW West Elizabeth is always ripe with animals regardless for me. We run back and forth down that valley and kill herds, birds, etc. and then make a run to Strawberry to unload. You can see for quite a distance either way from West to East. .....sometimes a gang hideout will spawn at the ranch near there as well.
  21. ....or something like that. Seriously though, I've been witnessing duplicate or triplicate of dogs in town, NPCs/shopkeepers and last night while in Tumbleweed, even the Sheriff was duplicated while the dialogue played for a side mission. Really weird. Flocks of birds would sometimes be doubled, etc.
  22. Yeah, I'm in California and haven't had the issues of animals not respawning and side missions still have some issues but I can still get them to work more times than not. Played several hours last night with one disconnect (which in itself is a bit rare for me) and no other issues. In fact, the only "issue" (if you want to call it that) is a recent spawn of more animals which seem to duplicates of flocks, herds, NPCs, dogs ,etc.
