You have to rewind the video so you can see the event. Death by glitch (fell through the map). OP, this is why you need to manually save every now and again.

......*Saint Denis. I think it's also fair to acknowledge that some players are simply overstating their experience though as a few of the explanations I've heard have clearly show they are takking a hamfisted approach to the game. I'm not saying that is necessarily true for all who have complained about the bounty mechanic but I also believe that at least a portion of those players are a victim of their own actions. .....in other words, the game is working as designed in those cases but it's simply a matter of either not understanding or not wanting to understand how it does. The bounty, detection and witness system is more complicated than some know and quite frankly, R* does a pretty lousy job IMO at describing it for players. ....with information scattered in tips, etc. within the game or sometimes not at all. I posted the following in another thread but thought it might be of some help here as well. ......and this doesn't even cover all aspects of these mechanics: There is a method to the madness and deeper than some understand. Here is a pretty decent explanation https://www.dexerto.com/red-dead-redemption/how-to-never-get-a-bounty-in-red-dead-redemption-2-wanted-system-explained-218399

I dunno about this one. If you're going to spend big money on these vehicles, then what's the point if you can't use and have fun with them? If there was the risk of losing and having to repurchase them again, there would be little sense in buying them in the first place. As for RDR2, it's a different ballgame IMO. ......for obvious reasons. There was information about this that was leaked / rumored which mentioned that the radar would be restricted to proximity vs. the entire map. If that's true, I hope the restriction is limited to what you can see on the minimap or even closer. Well, it already works that way in RDR2 now so I would imagine it will in RDO as well. This is already different in RDR2 so I don't see that changing in RDO. In GTAV, the mechanic was the same for the campaign and GTAVO. In RDR2 you're limited to two long guns and two handguns and ammo is capped. Yeah, not sure how this will play out in RDR2 but given the differences between the game and R*s drive to immerse the player in the RD gameworld, I suspect ammo purchases will be limited to stores / vendors and perhaps (still) dead bodies (looting). I've heard this argument before but you need to take these things in context.... GTA and RDR are two different games. GTAV/O was all about the outrageous, indulgences, humor, etc. RDR2 is a more "serious" game that's all about immersing the player in the 1899 universe. There will still be "vehicles" but more along the lines of wagons with mounted guns, etc. Things that are at least within the realm of the believable for that period. I just don't see them doing anything like flying trains, etc. in this game. They've been very tight lipped about it and I suspect we'll know more about a week before launch. I too hope for more of a focus on co-op and given some of the vague indications, I think there may be. They have already said that they will be using some mechanics / ideas from GTAVO and I think it would be naive to think that they wouldn't use some of what they've learned from that game and apply it in RDR2. .....but folks also need to realize that GTAVO is not dead. It will still exist alongside of RDR2. It wouldn't make sense to copy the exact same formula. RDR2 will be a different experience I'll wager.

Online Beta will launch at the "end of the month"

Than I would suggest reporting it. .....don't quote it again. I swear, I can't go anywhere without worrying someone is going to ruin the rest of this game for me. -

I have a feeling he's either trolling or guessing (first post and then no follow up). Besides, I would have seen something through Twitter from one of my sources on this if it were official. Never trust info like this unless someone can quote a source. ......and even then take it with a grain a salt depending on who that source is. -
How can I tell what my total playtime is?
Kean_1 replied to JohnConnor's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I never count my drinks. ....probably why I'm always surprised when the beer runs out in the fridge. Luckily my wife takes care of that for me. -
How can I tell what my total playtime is?
Kean_1 replied to JohnConnor's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Yeah, I don't know how to tell with PS4 either. .....if there is even a way. The R* Social Club should have this information but it doesn't. -
Yeah, I use the intimidation angle when possible. The lasso works good to quickly stop them as well.
-
Yeah, I think some don't realize just how deep some of the mechanics are in this game and quite frankly, R* doesn't do a very good job in explaining some of them. I mean, we are all learning some of these things by accident or through each other as we share our experiences. Some of this information seems scattered at best.

@MachineGhost There have been a couple folks around here that have gone on rants about the bounty system but I could see by their posts that it was simply a lack of understanding of how the mechanic works. I'm glad to see you're at least open to explanations and tips people here have provided. There is a method to the madness and deeper than some understand. Here is a pretty decent explanation https://www.dexerto.com/red-dead-redemption/how-to-never-get-a-bounty-in-red-dead-redemption-2-wanted-system-explained-218399

....oh, hey now.

I'm usually careful about what I report (don't want to be a pest) but given your response, I'll submit these in the future if I run across them. Thanks Creed.

I think everything can be summed up in your previous thread. The responses won't be any different in this new thread. Simply sounds like you need to move on especially now that you sold the game. As for the hyperbole about the game's success not being real, there were people like you who said the same thing about GTAV and that title just passed the 100 million unit mark several years later. .....RDR2 hit 17 mil in less than two weeks. Hype only carries a game so far my friend. I suspect if you come back in a couple months you'll see a similar trend with RDR2. Hell, I'll wager Christmas will bring in a quite a few sales alone. Let's get something straight though..... My issue isn't with you or your perception, dislike, etc. of the game. It's the irrational remarks that just because you hate the game, that somehow everyone else will feel the same. I felt strongly about FC5 and I voiced my opinion on Ubi's official forums (big difference there) in hopes that some things would change but not once did I think that my opinion was true for everyone else. They still made a tidy sum off that game. .....c 'est la vie. I moved on.

Well, looks like we've got a few players here now. That should make it easier for folks to find people to team up with once RDO is online. I've got a few on PSN as well. 3 I've known for a long time and IIRC, 7 others who have joined up since. I'm just trying to get enough like minded players together so we all have a pool to tap into.
-
Yes, sorry. I didn't see this post until now. As Creed mentions, we are all just waiting to see when RDO launches. I'm still savoring the campaign for now.
-
Ah, ok. Yeah, assuming it's even an issue I guess.

People resurrect just after being killed
Kean_1 replied to schouw234's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
No bug..... Just a design decision likely to keep the game world alive and interactive. If NPCs didn't respawn the game might get boring pretty quick depending on how you play. Note that the inhabitants will not be as friendly when you return though, sometimes refusing you entirely. I do wish that the respawn would have a longer delay though. .....perhaps a day or two? -
Please, please , please use the following guidelines when posting details about side events and missions. There are a lot of people here that would rather discover these things themselves as surprises. Using the format in the link below will ensure those who don't want to spoilers will not mistakenly run across them. As for the particular event:

Saw this on Twitter this evening. Never had it happen to me and didn't even know it was a possibility. This game hasn't stopped surprising me yet:

The online isn't even available yet so there is no risk of playing the game now. The campaign has nothing to do with it at this point. You won't lose any of that.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Cheats Still Being Uncovered

Also perhaps to get around some aspects of the mechanics that you may not like I guess. ....I get it. -
Red Dead Redemption 2 Cheats Still Being Uncovered

Cool stuff but little interest for folks like me who hate using them in games I like. If the gameplay is good, I see little use for them but that's just me. -
The fact is that we simply don't know. I guess it would depend on what changes would have to be made before final release, resetting servers, etc. The other thing to consider is that this isn't a closed beta or one only available for pre-orders, etc. This is open to everyone who bought the game so everyone will be on a level playing field when the beta begins. In other words, there isn't going to be anyone sitting on the sidelines during the beta who will be at a disadvantage when final launches. With that in mind, there is no reason to start anyone over for that reason (which is good news IMO). Unless something requires a big fix , I also have a feeling this beta will continue up to the final update as Bandit alluded to. I think the main point here is that they wanted to give RDO the "beta" label so folks will understand that it will launch with possible issues that will need to be addressed. .....to keep the naysayers from totally slamming it. There is only so much they can test internally without an official closed or open beta. ......and even with those there are usually problems that crop up when online components of games are released. In a nutshell, if I had to guess, I would say that R* likely plans that progress would be retained by players barring any unexpected problems that would require a reset.

1) The reload button is also the melee button. If you're close to someone and push that button, you will knock them with the butt of the weapon, etc. Lesson learned, move on. These are repeatable, randomized events and not the end of the world. I had to kill the same guy because I didn't realize I didn't have the money to pay him when I lost. ......c 'est la vie. Could also be tied to your settings for auto aim / locking on. I have my sensitivities set really low personally as I hated the way it would pull me toward targets that I didn't want to engage. 2) The rifle is on your horse. You need to grab it before you start any of these types of activities. You'll see what is equipped on you when you're on foot. I always equip the weapons I want before getting off and then make sure they appear on my back before I engage. 3) The crafting system isn't overly complicated depending on what you're trying to craft but then again, it isn't required or necessary either. You can essentially play the whole game without crafting anything if you want to. I don't craft things except for certain types of ammo and that's really simple. 4) What else did you want from the bear? I think I got a claw and the skin. Check your inventory but either way, the skin is the main point. 5) So since you won't elaborate on the downed girl encounter, I'm guessing you dropped the bear skin and it disappeared when you decided to help the woman get to wherever she needed to go? I would have chose the skin over the woman but either way, all legendary animal skins will automatically go to the Trapper if you lose track of them. Check with your local Trapper. Sounds like you're insistent on believing the game is crap regardless. ......and quite frankly, I don't see the experience changing for you anytime soon with that sort of focus. Again, if you're struggling with a part of the game there are plenty of folks here willing to help. .....but if you're simply looking to express your dissatisfaction with it, that's fine too but I just wouldn't expect and overwhelming acceptance from others here in regard to your opinion. I guess my advice at this point would be don't try to force a square peg in a round hole if you sincerely don't like the game regardless of your reasons. It's not worth the frustration.

Really? How if I may ask? I thought it was tied directly to the talisman / perk thing through the Fence.
