I am very curious about this platform for this game. The most important part will be your internet connection. Supposedly you can run games that your own pc would not be able to render on its own and as long as your connection can handle it in theory you can run the game at 4k 30 - 60 fps. If this is true, I am going to do this, or at least look closer at it. I have a lot to learn yet though as it is new and I havent had any experience with it, but it gives me hope. I cant afford to build an appropriate gaming rig to do what I want it to do, it woudl cost me upwards of $4000.00 to build what I consider a decent gamer, and lets face it, thats just crazy. If I were in tech still or did a lot of video encoding, etc.. I might justify it as a write off and use it to make money, otherwise it is just a toy for gaming, and most likely mainly for rdr2. BUT if I can find a way to superscede it and stream the content at those settings, I am all in. Kean, do you think the boards need a Google Stadia section as it is a new platform and could be a real way to play rdr2 on pc without a very expensive rig?

Understood, just use what you have and post results, that alone will be helpful. If you have a 4k tv you can hdmi out to it from your pc, if not no worries. Well, you dont have to post videos, you can do screen shots and on pc there shoudl be a way to see the fps on screen while playing, so once it is out you can take alook and find out how to measure your performance. I am watching build videos about gaming rigs and boy have things eveolved since 2008 when I built my ;last gaming rig. What used to be around $2500 to build the ;atest greatest has been lost to $4500 -$ 6000 rigs, and thats a bit extreme. The performance from these machines is amazing! but unless you own a system where you can simply upgrade your pc to a multi thread core chip and the latest gpu that takes up 3 slots, lol and some very good cooling, it wont make much sense to build this beast simply for rdr2, I mean if I had the disposable income, I would do it, I have a 70" 4 k tv with full array lighting and lots of bells and whistles, so I really wish I had the $$ to build one, I cant imagine how amazing this game would look at 4k with all effects on max running at or over 60 fps, I can only imagine, but I dont think you need a $4500 rig to do that. I think for around $1200 you can come pretty close, maybe 30fps with everything on, but if you can maintain 30 fps in these settings, it is going to be awesome!! We need some benchmarks. I am going to make a separate post on this but this brings me to he Stadia. Do you think it will be possible to stream the game at these settings where the power is on the server side and you only need a modest machine to run it? I want to look into this option, I dont have a lot of experience in this arena and dont own one, but I am willing to spend the $200 or less on it and find out. I think this could be a way for many players to play the game on pc without having to make a huge investment on hardware upgrades.

Ability Cards; What's Your Recommendation For Defensive Solo Play?
lumper replied to KylesDad7's topic in Red Dead Online
Personally, and it is just my opinion, I dont like to use PIB or any other offensive cards in pve, I find you dont need them. Better in my case to be full on defensive, I can still lock on and hit my targets without PIB and with my build I can take an awful lot of punishment so I have longer to shoot back. Believe it or not, when you use slow and steady, you dont get bloom so shooting is very easy, perhaps not as good as PIB but I dont need it to be, I rarely die. In pvp yeah sure, I would go both ways to see what works best for each mode, but I dont play pvp anymore so for me, I use PIB once in a while if I am hunting a flock of birds for example on the ground and I want to shot them all, otherwise... Slow and steady Fool me once Iron lung then either Gunslingers choice or one more defensive card. Ive been experimenting with gunslingers choice but Im not 100% sold on it as of now, I still think better to do all defensive cards, making it hard to kill you then rely on your skill, auto aim and your ammo types to fight for you, when you can sustain several direct hits you have a l more time to fire back. -
Fast Travel At Camp ... Is It Worth It?
lumper replied to EaglesLanding's question in Questions & Answers
Yes everything will be there AND will be as it was, no degraded as it used to be in the Beta and Spring update. Now if you load a 3 star moose on North of Annesberg then ft to camp in New Austin you still have a 3 star when you get there. I love the fast travel, I find the time I save I make up for the cost of fast travelling. -
That sounds good to me, If you do get the game, it would be helpful if you posted some screen shots, and examples of the game running, like max out the settings, then ride into Valentine or St Denis and make a short video, see if you can keep 60 fps in a populated area at max settings. It will take a little while to figure out what the cut off is for systems to be able to run the game at max 4k settings, with the shading and lighting effects on and maintain the 60 fps but that information would be very useful to the community.

Are you going to buy the game on pc? Id love to see how it runs for you when you do. I think it would be helpful for others thinking about it to hear from a few people who have bought it and see how it runs on their boxes so others can get a realistic idea of what would be required to run the game at the 4k/60 fps they want you to see it at. You could do a service for many who are thinking about it but not sure how their systems would perform.

Fair enough, but isnt the best part of owning a Mule or Donkey or Burrow riding it? At least you can go get one. But I see what your saying, you actually want to be able to purchase and own one and I agree, we should have the option. I hope in time we do actually, once we can buy properties and other business, ranches, etc.. ID like to buy some oxen, chickens, and pigs too, eventually.

Random pelts on the map bug or intent of the game? (Possible Spoilers)
lumper replied to crh2018's topic in Red Dead Online
Exactly, I spawned in Van Horn, fast traveled to Tumbleweed, then while looking for MAdam Nazar on the map saw them, so I went there while collecting in Rhodes to see what was up, I was in a solo lobby for over 8 hours when I saw them. -
I had a similar problem and has to have Rockstar remove the two step, which they did, you can then re do it from say a pc or other device.

Random pelts on the map bug or intent of the game? (Possible Spoilers)
lumper replied to crh2018's topic in Red Dead Online
Im glad someone brought this up, I too found this two days in a row, I went over there nad found one large pelt, like an elk or something, and the rest were not really there although it looked like it on the map. I cant imagine what it means or how they got there. -
There are two at Flatrock station or whatever it is called, behind the pigpen, I rode them the other ay and got a few others involved, you can easily take one for the day, for free.
-
To each his own, you ride what you enjoy and dont worry about what others think. I dont like the Arabians personally, mostly because they are so small, but also because they are so skittish as you mentioned, to me I'd rather be on a Turk, a Trotter, a Breton, or a Klad, those are my favorites. If I raced only maybe an Arabian, but even then probably a Turk as the races get a little physical, and the Arabian doesnt spell confidence.

Has anyone seen a player bounty hunt pop up yet?
lumper replied to Freakshow9191's topic in Red Dead Online
I saw one pop up last week, I forget the amount but it was definitely over $20.00 and I had the opportunity to accept and then try to go get the person, I declined as I was doing something else at the moment, but I did think, oh thats neat, someone has to go out of their way to get a $20 bounty, its not that easy. -
Fast Travel At Camp ... Is It Worth It?
lumper replied to EaglesLanding's question in Questions & Answers
First off yes it is worth it. Your posse can use it. I love it, one of the best things I ever bought in game, saves me tons of time. I enjoy being out doing multiple things, realize I have a full load so Ill drop in camp from any fast travel post, drop off everything, energize my guy, then hit the post to go right back to where I left off, plus many other examples of ways I use it. Money is really flowing in this game once you get the collector role, even the trader, so my advice is yes, buy it as soon as you can. -
I use it along with this page, If you use this master page to see each collectible category and open a seperate page for the collectible group you need to get, then pause the video, scroll down to "show more" and look at the three lists, ie: day 1, 2, and 3 you can then click on the exact item on the correct day to go right to that item on the video, not only does it show the location, but then a short 10 second video of a person actually getting that collectible so you know the nuances of where each item actually is. Together these too tools have made me tens of thousands of dollars just with collectibles. Today I bought a few extra saddles for no reason really, I just did, I am out of things to buy, and have just under $15000.00 in cash, mostly from collectibles. I make $500 to $750 a day from the trader, plus hunting, plus dynamic events and things I loot, etc.. plus another $1000.00 to $4000.00 a day from collectibles. If you have both the map and the video page, you can easily locate all the items you are missing from each collection and then sell your collections full. Too many people are selling just items, and when you are new and lower level, I get it, but as soon as you can, just chill and build them up, once you get them all set up, you will have a constant stream of cash just from collecting.

Im just curious, for those of you that have a gaming rig pc and play pc games, and plan to play rdr2 on pc, what are you running? Motherboard chipset/ cpu, gpu, memory type and amount Have you bench marked it lately as it is now? Do you use 3dmark for graphics benchmarks? Are you building or upgrading for rdr2 or do you plan to play it on your existing machine? Id really enjoy the pc version but I dont have a gaming rig anymore and I cant afford to buy or build one so for me I can only watch from a far for now, my plan is possibly in the future I will build another one, but it definitely wont be for a year or two minimum. I can see an I7 or I9 as a foundation running this game, or the amd equivalent most likely with dual pci e cards and high performance memory gddr3 Im guessing, but I havent done a build in a long time and I am definitely out of the loop on current motherboards and motherboard chipsets, I used to be very proficient with this stuff but pc parts evolve every 3 months and after a few years off it is a whole new world compared to my last build. I am definitely excited for those of you with decent machines that will run the game at max settings, including hdr and special lighting and especially for those that are able to optimize and upgrade their boxes to get 60 - 99 fps at those settings, it is going to be amazing!!! I know from many years experience that to build from scratch a serious gamer I can easily spend $2500 to $3500 without monitor keys or mouse, just the box and some software, those with these machines are going to share an experience that most of us will never see, and I can only imagine how amazing it will be to play it like that.

Strange Grinding Addiction - What Is The End Game?
lumper replied to PVPNOOB's topic in Red Dead Online
The roles were very easy, however this is part 1, this was the first step to getting wealthy in the game, R* said in the interview they want every player to feel the progression, so you start with these roles, then later we will get more, etc.. and they will gradually progress to bigger and bigger things. So once you get them all leveled up, you now have plenty of time to grind them til you have what you consider to be a good amount of cash and gold. I do daily challenges for gold, and everything else for cash. Today I hit $14000.00 and I am back up to 24 gold bars, from 1.4 last week. I messed up and skipped a day last week which reset my challenges again, sigh.. so for now the payouts are low, but I do around 10 challenges a day, I havent been doing many bounties lately as they pay the least for my time and right now I am in grind mode, especially with solo lobbies lately, there are so many animals to hunt, I just hunt and feed Cripps til he is full and then I go collect til the work is halted again, then I go get him supplies, give him everything new on my horse and then make a sales delivery then head back out to collect, rinse and repeat. -
Im gonna PM you how to do it. Ive had solo lobbies everyday this week, for over 8 hours yesterday and today, I log off after a while just sick of hunting, lol. I made 900$ with just deliveries today around collecting, all told I made around $4000 today. Im up to $13,950 after buying a few saddles I didnt need and some other stuff.

Ability Cards; What's Your Recommendation For Defensive Solo Play?
lumper replied to KylesDad7's topic in Red Dead Online
Yeah its crazy how many shots you can withstand with it. I improvised it a little last night, I added the Gunslinger card, and leveled it up to tier 3 in one session, with the 30% xp bonus it was very easy to level it up. Im not 100% sold on it yet, it is fun to use and very effective, I just cant tell if it is really any better than before, or whether I should keep the defensive build as it was before this card or not, but for now I am using it. Slow and Steady, Iron lung, Kick in the butt and Gunslingers choice is my current build. -
I saw him yesterday for the third time, he said I was a good man as he left, not sure what his purpose is yet though.

Strange Grinding Addiction - What Is The End Game?
lumper replied to PVPNOOB's topic in Red Dead Online
Well worth it and as he said, the metal detector too, they both will make you untold amounts of money. -
If you mean the bolt action variant, my bolt action let me keep my metals, but only when I glitched it. So I had already bought the gold, then later copper, then the variant, but the variant did remove my gold and stuff, BUT once I glitched it I got my metal combo plus the variant under the white wash.
-
Oh I understand what to do, lol its not that, its my old slow brain, by the time I see it, I get up close enough to jump on nad somehow I messed that up so I didnt jump, no time for a second try on that one, so maybe next time. I did see the arguing women outside of Rhodes again and I think when she is done she says something like "anyone else want some" or something like that so I do think you are able to challenge her to a dual, not positive but thats my guess

I dont know why it happened or what I coudl have done to make it happen, all I did was fast travel to Manzanita post to get something, I noticed I was on the server with one other guy, I checked his gamercard and saw he was in the Grizzlies somewhere, I didnt think much of it. Ive seen it happen before but usually it lasts about 5 minutes then the server re populates, not today. Because it never changed I couldnt shut it off, lol I was on alone for over 8 hours. I killed 6 Grizzlies, 14 wolves, 8 cougars, and countless other things, I actually found the limit for my horse with pelts, its 60. At 60 it said you cant store any more on your horse, lol So., I dunno, just thought I would share what happened, I felt very lucky as there were animals everywhere in great numbers, the swamps were like a rain forest untouched, it was crazy!! I can only hope it happens again one day, I made a little over $4000.00 and Cripps is still completely stocked when I logged off , I made most of the money by collecting 16 items I needed to cap off 8 or 9 collections, plus all the hunting along the way. I need food.
