I'll wait a few weeks until they've gotten rid of the worst initial bugs, but then I'll seriously consider it. I need at least one launch game I'm interested in tho. Otherwise I'll wait a little longer until one comes around.

Random pelts on the map bug or intent of the game? (Possible Spoilers)
MrPicard replied to crh2018's topic in Red Dead Online
Approach with caution. I recently saw a pelt just lying around on the ground and slowly rode towards it (I knew this was too good to be true but I wanted to see what happened) and immediately some player rode up to me and shot my horse so that I fell off, and then he tried to shoot me. I had changed sessions by then already tho, so joke was on him, but yeah. Be cautious. -
It's not widely celebrated over here (it's treated more like a thing for people who like to have an extra day of carnival and, of course, some kids dress up and do the whole trick or treat thing but it's really not very prominent and most people won't open the door anyway, lol). So nope, not doing anything.
-
I know exactly what you mean - I was on a server with four other people the other day and whoa, so many animal spawns and there was absolutely ZERO issue setting up my camp (I had fun setting it up wherever I was so that it was easier to get the stuff to Cripps). It was so nice, and I played for much longer than I had originally planned to. I wish it could always be that way, I have zero desire to meet/interact with other players in-game.
-
He appeared a second time in my camp a few days ago and I gave him some meat again (I'm just too nice sometimes)... maybe he's the basis for a future "high honor" storyline or something? R* did say that they want to focus more on the honor system in the near future.

Yup, I love all those facts about my Black Arabian as well. I do use other horses from time to time but I always go back to my trusted Arabian friend. What I also love is that he just trots on and on, you just have to hit the x button once and he'll trot and trot while other horses stop walking after a few steps and you have to press the x button again. (I'm annoyed by small things like that, yes. lol)

Nah, I'll pass on this one as well. I like my hats way too much. lol

**Animal Spawn Issue Discussion** (Since Summer and Recent Updates)
MrPicard replied to Jimblob's topic in Troubleshooting
It's a known bug. Try finding a server with fewer players. The fewer players, the more animals you'll see. I was on a server with only four other players a few days ago and I had animals spawn at every possible opportunity. -
I'd be more willing to bet that they'll release a "remastered RDRII" for the PS5, much like they did with GTAV when the PS4 was released.
-
I just don't have the energy and patience to collect entire sets, I can't help it. I'm the type who does a bit of hunting then just pulls out the metal detector for a while and sees what comes up. I'm not the type who runs after specific collectibles, I just grab what I can find and then sell it to Madam Nazar whenever she's in the neighborhood of where I am. I'm way too impatient to be a true collector, lol.
-
That is a perfectly valid approach - if you like your horse, no need to buy a new one! (I've spent way too much money/gold on horses in this game. lol) I also got that Arabian for free and I used him for quite some time before I bought a new horse.
-
I always just shoot the map people (I've run into several, there's a lady sometimes as well near Valentine) and loot them and take the map. It hasn't affected my (maximum) honor level at all, and even if it were to drop it slightly I'd easily bring it up again by just feeding or brushing my horse.
-
Same. I only do local deliveries tho, those don't show up on the map. Most Red Dead YouTubers recommend doing the local delivery missions, at least when you don't have a completely full wagon of stuff. If you do though it might still be the better idea to do local deliveries - I mean it's still better to have a little less than you could have had than having nothing at all.

Official: No Red Dead Redemption 2 Story DLC Planned
MrPicard replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I'm not surprised about the "no story mode DLC" thing either. They scrapped their DLC plans for GTAV when they saw how successful the multi player version became and it would be a waste of resources now to develop DLCs for RDRII's single player because it doesn't give them any profit in return - unless they made PAID story mode DLCs (ask for like $20 for it, idk). What I don't understand is not making parts of the updates available in single player also - like some of the weapons or horses. I also very much doubt that this would make people exclusively play single player again and not pay real money for gold bars in multi player, like R* wants for the players to do - it would just be a nice gimmick. -
Interesting - I never considered that R* might have done something to the horses and their stats! Maybe this is why I now crash into pretty much EVERYTHING with my Turkoman? It really wasn't like that at first, he used to jump over things like as if they were nothing and now even a simple fence seems to be too much sometimes. I'd be really interested to know if the Arabian was changed as well, I haven't noticed much but then, this might simply be because I always automatically assume he's skittish and try to prevent him from freaking out even when he ISN'T freaking out. lol

Is It Just Me, Or Is Lvling BH Just A Real Grind?
MrPicard replied to KylesDad7's topic in Red Dead Online
Yeah, bounty hunting is a grind, especially if you're a solo player like me. I've tried bounties that involve bringing in two people but it hasn't worked out for me - one of them either always gets away or I accidentally end up killing one of them. So I can only do one-person bounties and ugh, what a grind. But I partly also LIKE it - because it forces me to take things slowly for a change, I really rushed through the Collector role in particular because you just find that stuff everywhere and it levels up incredibly fast. The Trader I also finished in pretty much no time. -
Maybe this is the same kind of glitch I'm experiencing with the vanishing tail(s) of my horse (s). Something weird is going on with those horses, I'm convinced! I did think the Breton was kinda small by default tho? I saw one in Valentine the other day and it seemed like a little bulldozer pony to me? I also had one for a while and it was kinda small also? idk
-
Not even I tried the Wolf Man bounty with my Black Arabian, so I can definitely understand what you mean! lol (I did this week's bounty with him tho and he did just fine - but yeah, wolves and Black Arabians only go together for SO long, it's okay in Cumberland Forest but that Wolf Man challenge WOULD not have ended well with an Arabian horse, no matter which one.) I can also definitely understand people having an issue with the Arabian horses being so tiny. They really are. It's an advantage when it comes to speed but it does look a bit strange sometimes, I agree. I love the bigger horses as well normally, I'm still SO fond of the HUGE Shire horse Arthur gets in Story Mode, I really miss that one. And yeah my horses all have a purpose as well - the Kladruber I use when I just want to take a lazy stroll and look for stuff for Madam Nazar, the Turkoman I take for special assignments (like the Wolf Man challenge), and my Black Arabian is my "default" horse. I suppose I just love to be friends with this tiny skittish horse for some reason, whenever I take my Turkoman or Kladruber I start to miss my Black Arabian after a while and feel bad for leaving him behind in the stables.
-
Thank you so much, I'm so glad I'm not alone in this! And you're absolutely right, it's incredibly rare to see people on Arabian horses in the game nowadays - everyone seems to have succumbed to the "overrated, too expensive, useless because skittish" opinion. And I can definitely say that the Naco saddle works wonders with the Black Arabian indeed, it's incredibly fast and it never gets tired. I always use that saddle with my Black Arabian and it's lovely. I tried the Breton, I really did, but the horse did nothing for me (other than bucking me off faster than my Arabian, and I WAS at maximum bonding with the Breton), and ugh, I went back to my trusted Black Arabian friend. I love the Kladruber still but it's just TOO slow sometimes. And I agree, all the horses have flaws, I really love that about them - there's something to overcome with EVERY horse in the game, no horse is 100% perfect, but once you've found the horse you like the most you're willing to deal with the flaws, much like it is in real life (I guess, I've never owned a horse IRL).
-
I know everyone is saying how the Black Arabian is just the most expensive but not the best horse in the game (some even say it's one of the WORST) because it's so skittish and tiny and whatnot, and it seems to have become almost a "no-go" to be out and about on this horse. Honestly tho? I've been playing the game from the beginning and I bought the Black Arabian as soon as I could and I've now tried out a number of other horses and, as much as I love my Good Guy Kladruber my Black Arabian is still my go-to horse for everything. I've even figured out how to do bounty hunter missions with him: Everyone knows that, as soon as you've hogtied your bounty, a bunch of NPCs show up and start shooting at you. This is where my trusted companion used to buck and run, but no more - I just whistle for him RIGHT AFTER I've put the bounty on his back, and he stays right where he is and I can either dispose of the NPCs on the ground or get up on my horse and do it from horseback. I do the same when I use him for hunting - I just hit the "calm" button as soon as I hear wolves howling and he doesn't buck me, only when I don't manage to shoot all the wolves quickly does he get skittish, but my Turkoman and Kladruber get skittish at around the same point in time, so there's no noticable difference to me. (Keep in mind I'm talking about all this with MAXIMUM Black Arabian horse bonding.) I do agree that he's rather tiny and can look like a pony sometimes but he's FAST, and that makes up for it, especially when you have to go all across the map to get at your bounty target. And I like that he basically squeezes through everything and jumps over everything. Sure we crash from time to time but it's not nearly as many times as I crash when I use my Turkoman - that horse is cool and all but oh so bulky. And the Kladruber is even worse in that regard, lol. (I do love the big horses though, don't misunderstand me.) So yeah, I love my Black Arabian horse and I think it gets way too much "nope". But then I also suffer from anxiety and get skittish at things, maybe that's why I relate so much to the horse and can sense when he's about to have enough and that's why we get along so well? Hmm.
-
I only ever use the Bolt Action Rifle and I love the bounty hunter skin they introduced and have been using it ever since the game said I could do so - I can definitely relate! Hehe.
-
Ah man I want to see that as well! I love the snow in Los Santos in GTA already, it would be awesome if we could have that in Valentine (and maybe Strawberry?)...
-
My strategy will be similar - I have to finish the bounty hunter role (currently at 15) first and then I'll be done and will return to doing stuff for Cripps and Madam Nazar because those two roles bring in the cash - I do still collect stuff for her when I come across it and it always gives me a super payout. I never wait until find the entire set for Madam Nazar either, I just collect stuff I find along the way with the metal detector and it makes me TONS of money in the long run. That's what I'll be doing - hunting for Cripps and while I wait for him to have made enough stuff to sell I'll be out and about looking for collectibles. But in reality I'll just be waiting for R* to introduce new roles and/or develop the trader role further, hehe.

10/1/19 Weekly Update, New Bounty, Bonuses and More
MrPicard replied to Kean_1's topic in Red Dead Online
I like that you can do the legendary bounty solo, at least the first two difficulty settings, I haven't gone beyond that,. I really enjoyed it and it gave me quite a payout as well when I managed to deliver all four of them alive. I didn't even need the bounty wagon, the game lets you catch them one by one and provides you with a prison wagon to take them to. I like this. AND the fact that there's no timer. Keep 'em coming, R*! -
I'm having a strange issue with my horse(s, doesn't matter which one I use) - sometimes its tail vanishes and only a little stump is there - this happens only when I've completed a bounty hunter mission. Sometimes the game takes away the tail and then also places pelts on my horse's back that I never put there (and therefore also can't sell or get rid of). A horse without a tail looks rather ridiculous, the poor thing - and I can only fix it by either completing another bounty mission or going to the stables, I don't have to do anything, I just have to go in there and leave right away and the tail is back. Is this happening to anyone else?
