Red dead Troll fest

After spending a few (frustrating)hours online, here's what I think needs to be addressed:

- no private lobbies available

- player icons should not be lit all the time, just breeds trolls and man was there alot of trolls

- you lose all pelts on your horse if you die, makes no sense, unless the horse was attacked also

- There needs to be a heavy penalty/bounty for killing other players/horses (LIKE R* promised)

- Players should not be able to be attacked while in an animation (skinning etc..) or they need to add a way break an animation if you see someone approaching.  People sit back and wait for you to start skinning an animal and then kill you or lasso you

- Passive mode?????

- From what I've seen, there isn't a way to sell valuables.

- You can't set up camps anywhere you want, only set locations. (and they charge you a buck each time)

Someone playing an outlaw just might and should absolutely be able to.

Passive mode is gross.

"aha a lone rider! lets go rob him boys!"

Lame. Defend yourself like a man, avoid strangers if you're alone like anyone with common sense. Its an incentive to actually group up.

It's still early in the game's life for some of those.  Private lobbies and passive mode will come, I'm sure. 

Player icons lit all the time is a little unrealistic, tho this will likely change soon too.  Should have to spot a player for them to show on the map/radar, and even then it should disappear if you lose sight of them for some time.  I didn't have much trouble with trolls. Most people just rode right past me, only one guy came up and circled me with his gun drawn while I was on here after a mission, then shot me as I started to ride away. 

You lose your pelts if you die in story mode too, why should it be different online.  And I don't remember Rockstar promising anything, let alone penalties for killing. 

Not being able to stop an animation is a bit unfair, would be nice to break it. 

You can sell valuables to a fence, animal parts to the butcher, and everything else at the general store. 

This isn't Minecraft or Ark, or any of the other ones, letting people setup camp wherever they feel like it would not work out for several reasons.  Each time you setup a new camp, that's like a moving fee, with a maintenance fee (once a day I think).  Nothing wrong with that.

I don´t know if I can argue with you because I just got a warning for my previous post (Ye because Wild west means you just randomly shoot people to their backs without reason/warning ... ) for verbal abuse :D But. Defend like a man? Ok, I have no problem with that. But when someone passes by you waving at you and then shoots you in back, that´s not "outlaw" style in my eyes ;)

All I'm looking for is to play the game, all of the game, not just the one aspect of killing stuff. As it sits right now, it's kinda like playing rdr2 with someone constantly knocking the controller out of your hand. There was alot more to the Wild west than just killing people.

Passive mode does suck.   But so does always on player blips and auto aim.

As it stands.  Always on player blips makes it easy for trolls to find players to mess with.> Auto Aim just makes its easier for them to pin players down.

And this is exactly how its currently playing out.  

I be all for NO passive.   if there was more to pvp than just 'head toward player blips and spam auto aim'

 

As it stands, unless R* adds Free Aim and a better blip system.  I need passive mode.  As i have ZERO interest in auto aim pvp.

With all due respect the problem is this argument has been made a thousand times when GTA online rolled out. Those in favor of passive mode were blown out every time the discussion came up. However it was implemented because of a loud vocal minority. The reason for this is that just because a minority wants to play PVE it forces PVE on everyone, as you only turn off passive mode when you're ready for a fight, which defeats the entire purpose of looking out for strangers to attack. I know you think you're asking for something minor but it is actually a major fallout76 tier drawback. You're killing the entire idea of watching your back, which is extremely immersion breaking.

Well if everyone has it i don't really care. As long as its fair. If everyone didn't have it that would work too.

Final thoughts:

I think there should be a couple dedicated PVE servers to appease these folks, with the inability to transfer over the character to a pvp server, since it wouldn't be fair for someone to grind all day in PVE and have the same rewards as someone who risked their butt for theirs.

I disagree..

People may want to only play PVE for a bit.. then swap to PVP.   Can't just lock people in a box.

if this game is going to be about PVP.. then R* needs to add Free AIm and limit the blips.    And get the me the hell outta auto aim boggie woggie.

Because any idiot can just head toward blips and spam auto aim... and get kills.    And in that case the only thing a player is risking is their sanity of getting stuck in a auto aim.. wack a mole fest and dealing with trolls.

Better rewards should be for people who use free aim.. Just like it was in RDR and GTA O.  But i don't think players should get better rewards.  Game should be fun...

Normal.  With Any aim you want..  PVP enabled. But with Blips only show when shooting or running/riding. (To make it non troll happy)

Friendly. with Any Aim you want.  PVP disabled. Blips enabled

Hardcore.   Free Aim only.  Blips only show when shooting or running/riding.

I find that would make most people happy.  And with that would not require passive mode, because everyone knows what they are getting into.

How about they just remove the player blips?

I feel like that solves most problems. Trolls can still troll, they just have to find you first. Casual players can still play casually, but they still have to watch their backs.

That would be fine too, but rockstar might not want to split the servers into thirds. A pve/pvp normal type and a strictly pvp only would please everyone, no?

I know theres alot of players that have zero interest in pvp.   But i guess private lobbies could solve that, if they add it.

Splitting it into thirds would just make everyone mostly happy.

Have to agree with original poster,.... It seems that R* still has not learned that mixing open world PvE mixed in with the PvP and giving missions that are on a timer, or any mission that can be interrupted by a PvP'er just dose not work.

My husband & I just finished the tutorial and got into the open world where we can group up. I latterly took five steps into the game, when a snot nosed murderous child who was already level 20 one shot head shot me, I was level 2 or 3 or something. 

So ya how is that a good PvP?  A high level already spawn camping the newbie zone? Just like in GTA5! 

Problem #2 Ok so I was warm welcomed into how RDR2 O was going to be. I play GTA5 so I'm use to the Snot Nosed Kiddies, There is always a work around to stay out of PvP, Mostly get a massive guild and take over the server kill anyone who is not in your Clan... Or in this case Posse.  With a cap of 7 people in a guild it looks like we cant do that anymore, so going to have to make several Groups of friends  with Posses and some how link up as allies to take control of a server. I hate feeling like I have to constantly be a bad Lady and just kill anyone who is not on my friends list. But If you do not shoot the first person you see and have a big gang with you killing every red dot on the map until they leave the server you might as well not play any R* game. 

R* Forces you to play offensively.... Kill or be Killed, I Hate the feeling, I hate PvP, Its not in my nature to go around randomly killing everyone I see just because I'm afraid that if I don't kill them, they will kill me the first chance they get. 

I like RDR2, best graphics and game play I've seen in a new game... R* did that right. What I hate is trying to pick up a mission and I get shot in the back of the head, trying to finish a mission and get gang R.a.p.e.d all the way to the finish...…. If you can get it in before the timer runs out... Really R*, Timed missions "AGAIN"! in a PvP open world, NO...Just No! take the timers out of the missions.

BIG #3 problem, How in the hell are these PvP'er phasing in and out? We had a group attacking us and they could one shot us, There is two of us right now so if I don't get you My Husband will,... But we have noticed that these players will one shot you, then go into a shadow form where they are immune to attack back, you can shoot them, but your bullets will go right through them, you cant fist fight or stab them ether, WTF is that? Are they cheating already, Is it a Lag switch? Is it a speed hack? What the heck are they doing to become immune to damage? 

#4 when you go into a cut seen apparently you can still be killed even though you are stuck in a cut seen and can not defend your self? We are following our main mission so we can unlock our items and level up, But at Blackwater you get that long cut seen, I could not get it to complete so that I can move on to the next mission as every time I get half way through it some snot nosed murderous child kills me! WTF R*!! ??

Any cut seen should make you immune to PvP. With that said I think R* did something right... I've noticed that when you go into a catalog you do phase out of the world.. Why did R* not apply this to every cut seem, and missions ? When you do a Side mission you should be out of PvP and immune to attacks !!

Lets hope that R* will have invite only private servers one day that you can play in peace, I like PvP when in the mood, But mostly I like to enjoy the PvE aspects of a game... My husband & I work long hours and sometimes only get 2 hours of game play in, I do not want to have to spend most of that time in PvP when all I want to do that day is get some main story missions, and some side quest in!

In Conclusion; Have an option to flag your self on or off of PvP for a session. then you are stuck in that mode until you log off and re-choose what style of play session you want to do, PvP/PvE- In this way everyone wins! Those of us who want to do the PvE and missions can do so in peace, Those that want to PvP can fight other PvP'ers as they wish, everyone is happy. …. well except the Snot Nosed Murderous Children who like to go after low levels because that's all they can kill due to having no skills fighting someone of same levels.

Ether a flag system or complete separation of PvP'ers from PvE'er, each play styles will have their own dedicated server. You choose to go on a full PvP… or PvE server at the start of your session.

Or

Invite only private server.... But not like GTA5 where you can't do any missions... have full game missions on a private server...

I don't really want a passive mode, I am only suggesting it because it's a quick fix to deal with trolls who will only log on to kill people and nothing else.

I encourage you folks to submit your requests to R*. I too hope that we get more co-op / friends options in the near future at least like we have in GTAO.  

However, I also understand that this is a BETA and I can understand why they may have chosen to go with a PvP-only mode for now while they stress test the servers, etc.  I have hope that these other modes will arrive at least by final release since GTAO included them.  While PvP is more popular, I think they can recognize that some prefer to just play with friends sometimes or themselves. 

Personally, I'm going to submit my suggestions and give it some time to see where R* goes with RDO.  I'll only play RDO with friends until then and may even stop at some point (if I find it too toxic) and go on to something else while the game is being worked on.

I have to hard disagree there because you could just grind on pve/pvp and hop over, making the ONLY reason to go to a PVP server to kill people. Which is crap.

Sure i agree but im just trying to be practical instead of asking for too much and being stuck in a pve/pvp server as a compromise in a losing attempt to make everyone happy like in GTA.

Does it matter where people go?  At least they know what they are getting into.

I mean, i would mostly play Hardcore mode if it was added.. but not just for pvp.  And  If people want to swap over just for pvp and come after me, id be fine with that.

At least if i just wanted to screw around in friendly, the option is there.  Especially for people who don't want to pvp.

Much better than passive mode.  Because without a proper friendly mode..  People will beg for passive mode.  And they might get it.

Why does it matter if people leave pve servers to play in pvp server?    Isn't that the point?

Thats how it was in RDR multiplayer.  It worked great.

If GTA O did what RDR multiplayer did.. It would been much better than Passive mode and constantly complaining about trolls.

If there are witnesses and you're not wearing a mask you should definitely get a bounty.

I think the best compromise is to have a pve/pvp side with its passive mode and a strictly pvp side. Then every one is happy.

Why even have separate servers then? Why not just skip the middleman of logging out and in and just give it a crap passive mode again? This is exactly what will happen if people continue arguing for this.

You're taking out the entire idea of watching your back while grinding as you can just log into a pve server (passive mode) grind, then log into a pvp server for the sole sake of causing havoc. This is terrible.

Sounds good to me.. I don't see how its terrible at all.  Thats the way it should be.

My attitude is Bring it on..  The whole reason i would be playing Hardcore mode is because people may attack me.  At least there would be no auto aim.  Im more worried about auto aim at the moment than actual players.   I don't consider auto aim pvp... Its a huge nuisance for me.

If people want to grind in pve who cares?  People can grind in PVP too.  Hell, theres specific pvp modes just to grind in.

Besides.. R* is adding GOLD BARS to buy via real money.  People can have more than you even if you grind all day long and they only played for 5 mins.

 

Im just wondering.. but did you play RDR multiplayer?

My attitude is Bring in on..  The whole reason i would be playing Hardcore mode is because people may attack me.  At least there would be no auto aim.  Im more worried about auto aim at the moment that actual players.   I don't consider auto aim pvp... Its nuisance for me.

If people want to grind in pve who cares?  People can grind in PVP too.  Hell, theres specific pvp modes just to grind in.

Besides.. R* is adding GOLD BARS to buy via real money.  People can have more than you even if you grind all day lone and they only for 5 mins.

Sure there are going to be a couple people like you who simply don't care that the only incentive to play on a PVP server is to PVP, and will play on it to grind anyway, but just like in GTA the vast majority will just PVE server (passive mode) to grind then come over to the PVP servers to only fight, turning them into hellholes only. The incentive is lost and it leaves those who actually want to grind honorably on a PVP server while watching their back at an extreme disadvantage as some noob who spent hours grinding in PVE will simply hop over and start owning all these people, leaving them frustrated with the only choice to also hop over to PVE (passive mode) to grind and to compete.

Theres no incentive to grind on a PVP server just like there is no incentive to grind with passive mode off in GTA.

You're arguing for passive mode, it just involves logging out and logging in...
