Markco23
To the southwest of Vallentine is a small pool of water that juts our from the river. It’s next to the large bridge with the roof and a small dry gulley underneath it. If you pull out your fishing rod and unequip it a bunch of fish will spawn in the pool. Using a varmin rifle you can shoot the fish and clear the pool in about 10 mins. 20 can spawn in there easily and they often beach themselves which means you can just pick them up on the shore. The resulting two star fish sell for the same as a three star fish. The real money maker is the Sockeye Samon which will make you $45 a stack. If you get to 10 of any one fish start shooting them twice to make them 1 Star and a separate stackable. You can sell at strawberry or valentine as they are equidistant from the spot. To refresh the pool you have to travel a decent distance away and then come back. I usually clear the pool twice before selling my wares. There are rabbits along the trails worth a lot if you use the varmit rifle as well. I made $500 in one night doing this easily with no pressure or rushing. Enjoy. Cool let me know if you can’t find it. I think it’s near the O in Dakota River but I’ll double check later. But if you find the bridge over the small dry gulley with a roof then the gulley runs right into the pool. Poggy
Good grief!!! If I only I was able to play right now ... Might be patched by the time I join the fish party, lol.
Saltyballs
As the op stated salmon seems to be where the money is at, I got around 9$ for a full stack of perch yet got almost triple that for a few salmon. Would be cool to see if there are any places overpopulated with them.
Poggy
I wonder if chucking dynamite in the water works?

YodaMan 3D
Yes dynamite is bad for fishing. Played with a group the other day that they decided to go fishing. I wasn't high enough to unlock the fishing rod yet. So while I was running around and hunting I heard a huge explosion, they all laughed, then realized that they would have to wait for the respawn. 1
Poggy
Yeah, I might stick to my lure and rod - seems effective enough
cory206
I hope people realise these fish are spawning, it's what salmon do, then they beach and die. I just hope we don't deplete the fish stocks.

VICKSUN
My buddy found this spot and was loading bank. We are planning on going fishing tonight together. It is really easy like you mention. I still prefer hunting but this is a good way to stack up money so you have it.
Moosh89
If you don't have a rod, use throwing knives, you get the knives back when you walk into them and the fish float to the surface - doesn't cost you anything and you get to practice with throwing them

GarthAlgar
I found another easy money hustle that Rockstar will probably fix in time... The first 5 or 6 story missions on XBL will pay out big $. Over $100 each, but only the first time you do them. After that theyre worth only a few dollars. After doing the first 5 story missions ( possibly 6, not sure ) you can start over and re-create a new character while still keeping the $500 or so that you earned from the missions. Yes, your character will start from level 1 again, but you can bank thousands with this method if you have the time.

Starting your character over should mean actually starting over, with nothing at all. Careful, cuz if you do things like this, they have every right to ban you, your IP, however they decide to drop that Ban Hammer. With fish prices halfed, the topic method might still be decent, just nowhere near as good as it was before the patch. austinweo
Thanks for the method, I've been using a different one with sockeye and steelheads and hunting during the trip. I had a three star sheep but with how this game goes, your game will crash while you're at the butcher. Edit: they lowered the price for sockeye salmon to only 2.50 each. JimmyDaniels
So I tried this and couldn’t get the fish to respawn. They may have patched it. If you find something like this don’t post it here, make a YouTube video or a reddit post

Moosh89
I was playing tonight and on my way to Blackwater from Strawberry I had a 2 star cougar spawn here just west of Blackwater, as soon as I crossed the river going South. I shot it in the head with one shot and skinned it, threw both skin and carcass on my horse and thought about going to Blackwater's butcher since it was closer. I decided to go back to Strawberry instead because Blackwater was swarming in pink dots. I sold the skin and carcass, I think the skin was $2 or $3 but the Good Cougar Carcass was $8.10 (cha-ching!) I went back toward Blackwater and as soon as I reached that exact same spot, POOF, another cougar spawned! This time it was only 1 star. It jumped me but I managed to throw it off and kill it. I skinned it and decided this might be a good spot to farm them. I made note of the current time, it was about 3:45AM, so the first time must have been around 11PM-12AM. I decided to go to Blackwater since it was quiet finally and I just got half way there from this spot and another player rode by me and killed me. When I respawned and called my horse, both the pelt and carcass were gone. I suspect he stole them. I'm posting this here for others to test this area because I won't get to play anymore this weekend
OGTKCole
The Samon and Trout prices have been nerfed. You know longer get $42.25 per 10 fish at the butcher. You now only get $25.00 per 10 fish every time you sell those types of fish at the butcher. But there are bigger fish in the world that you can get $5.00 per if you know where to go fishing.
Nomad7
The fish spot is still good, tried it a few hours ago. Leaving the area with my horse and returning worked and the fish re-spawned. Yes they lowered the prices but it is still a good way to make some income. I gather all fish and any small animals found in the area and on the way to valentine and in 15 minutes I made around 90 dollars. The cougar spot is valid also, I haven't done it in online mode, but I remember getting always attacked at that spot when returning to my farm, which was right next to that spot.
