llp
What is everyone's take on the double action revolver? I like the fire rate and reload speed. Seems to be on paper on par with the pistols. Damage is less than desirable but a headshot is a headshot. With the lower accuracy not sure if the speed means anything if it takes longer for the bloom to shrink. I prefer revolvers anyone have good luck with it? Thanks cowpokes
Bucnation3139
Imo it's great for free roam. Not so much in PvP , lemat or volcanic for pvp

Thanks cowpokes When the circle is the tightest that means the shot is dead nuts. When is still open, it means the bullet will randomly hit anywhere in that circle. Double Action is the fastest revolver. So if of combined with quick tap of Paint Black, you can get really fast head shots. And the double action is great for hip firing.. Moosh89
Double Action was my go to revolver in RDO1 so first thing I did was buy two of them in RDO2. I don't think I ever fully got familiar with them by the time the LeMats dropped into the game. I bought those and history had been recorded. Love those LeMats! I tend to only draw one at a time though so I can get that 'fan-action' going. I should try to switch back to the Doubles for a week or so. Just to familiarize myself with them. I bought one Schofield but it feels like a damn blunderbus its so slow but powerful LOL
James Hickok_1837
I was using LeMat's but when i tried Mauser pistols ill never go back to revolvers. Fast, accurate, super fast reload. Combined with PiB fast tap and Winning streak they are the BOMB. Both pve and pvp. Edited August 19, 2019 by James Hickok_1837

Parzival
I don't play RDO, but I prefer the Schofield. The New Army & Navy's faster rate of fire is nice, but the damage trade-off is too much for my tastes. I aim for the torso rather than the head during gunfights (bigger target), so damage is a big consideration for me. In the epilogue and post-game, though, I prefer John's Cattleman. I agree with The_Liquor about semi-autos. I'm glad they included them since they were coming into fashion and for those that want to use them, but playing a western with one just doesn't feel right. I wish we could have gotten Jeremiah Compton's flintlock as a usable pistol, though. Edited August 19, 2019 by Parzival
llp
Finding that the speed is great but takes too long to shrink the bloom...so if I don't wait now it's taking 2-3 shots to kill. With 6 shots thats not too good....I'm all about money and seems to be a waste. I was using shofield but was finding it was getting too easy to knock off headshots. Went back to the cattleman... looks the best out of the revolvers....very western I agree I could use PIB/ WS.... but currently like the cards I'm using and don't want to switch them just for 1 gun. Kean_1
That's because the Cattleman is based on one of the best known, most recognizable handguns from that era, the Colt Single Action Army. Kinda funny because Uberti (who makes replica firearms) makes a Colt SAA replica called the Cattleman. Kinda wondered if that's where they got the name. .....while the Schofield in the game is the S&W Schofield. I always liked that firearm and the top break design. I'm disappointed though that they didn't take such things into consideration in reload times, etc. when balancing these weapons.

Sometimes in pve i switch to LeMats to feel the Wild West but i just cant resist the accuracy and speed that Mausers offer. They are OP imo. 9 hours ago, llp said: I agree I could use PIB/ WS.... but currently like the cards I'm using and don't want to switch them just for 1 gun. May i ask what is the current card layout you use? Mine is : PiB, WS, Strange Medicine, Peak condition. I use it both in pvp and pve. The damage sucks, but the lightning fast fire rate and pinpoint precision makes up for it. I have Mausers but have never used them, they were just something to spend my money on. I'm mainly just interested in PvE.
James Hickok_1837
I was using semi autos first and they were great. I wanted to try Mausers tho and imo they are better. Semi autos are a bit (a little bit) faster than the Mausers but have less shots, and less dmg. Mausers tho are insane. They are dead accurate as well and dead fast too ofering more ammo. I never got back to semi autos after trying Mausers but i see some serious pvpers in showdown using semi autos too. For me Mauser is better. Try them - you will not regret it. The hip salve from those close distance is something beautiful. 2 days ago in Gold rush game i was using only them and won the match with double the points to 2nd place. Had 23 kills and 6 deaths and ppl were stuggling to kill me to get the suit. I combine them with PiB and WS of course without painting - just fast tap

I'm not good at it and all I see is $$$ disappearing, so mainly PVE I just hunt/ stranger missions so i use... Slow and steady to help with defense....Eye for an eye to re-coup deadeye in hideouts etc.... strange med to get my health back.... and unblinking eye to slow deadeye drain and for longer eagle eye. Can just sit in deadeye as long as NPC are around. sawed off/ revolver varmit rifle... for perfect pelts bow (favorite weapon) for all other animals with some dynamite arrows when trolls come around. I do switch out the varmit depending on missions with pump action or Springfield

James Hickok_1837
Ty for explanation. I know that Mauser is a semi auto gun as well i was just reffering to the name of the gun .
jarque50
If you are a fan of using PIB, and are good at getting headshots, the rate of fire of the double action makes it a very deadly weapon! But if you are not head hunting, and using a different dead eye perk, I would recommend something else, even in the revolver category
James Hickok_1837
i admit i havent' used those. Ill try them. But even - with mausers and perks i use you dont have to aim for head to get fast kills. Ill show some videos soon My friend is editing a 20 min video it will be cool. But you have to be close range to really get bullets in. It fires so fast that you can put players in that weird stun animation and screw up their aim. NexusSix29
Double-action is faster in aimed fire but the Cattleman is faster in hip-fire, so if ROF is your goal and you're not dual-wielding I'd go Cattleman. Personally I love the Navy for style and the Lemat for the extra four shots. Those extra bullets can really turn the tide.

Kean_1
I was always a fan of the Schofield's but it's more of a sentimental thing for me. .....same reason I usually pick 1911s in other shooters.
James Hickok_1837
Only dual Mausers and Only works with PiB but is lethal. Not Only 10 shots each, firing speedbut reloads in a sec. With 10 new bullets. Cant beat that with a revolver.
