Stealing distant deliveries is the most exciting part of the update

Don't know why you think I'm upset. This is a game...not real life. I have only taken one Wagon ever and that was because that player was trolling a posse member of mine. I call that karma. So there is nothing to Own. I can't stand paint it black, But it is in the game so people are free to use it regardless how I feel. Just because I don't go after people's wagons, doesn't meanI am against People that do. Do you. It is all part of the game. But if someone is trying to take something from me, I welcome the challenge. As I recall on the cover art for this game. Arthur is pointing a gun not a teddy bear.

Also @We Are Ninja my community is 100 % honorable and have been since beta released. We never shoot first but I couldn't imagine playing it without outlaws. It really keeps us on the mark knowing at any time outlaws can pop up and surprise us ! We really do love it ! 😀

100% the same.

I become "provoked" when a "RIVAL TRADER"  makes their own CHOICE to throw the gauntlet down and select the "try and take it" button instead of choosing local.  They threw it down, I'm picking it up.

I have a choice, and so does the seller.

I got the distinct impression that you enjoyed stealing peoples' wagons. And that there wasn't anything inherently "wrong" with killing/robbing players that were minding their own business. Which made no sense at all from a moral/logical standpoint.

Personally, this is the type of purpose I’ve been craving since launch. Want my wagon? Come and try to take it. Want to keep your wagon? Try and stop me from stealing it... I hated the random senseless psycho killer thing going on. I see much less of this now and much more purposeful conflict. I’m happy with these changes and look forward to even more.

That first part is fair. Commendable, even. But that second part... It's a "try and take it" button to you, but in a lot of cases, it's an "I could really use this extra $125" button for them. Again, do you, but I'ma pass.

Nope. I play the game my way. Don't f@@k with me and I will not f@@k with you. I never fire first.....but will always return fire. And wagon I took was from a tool trolling a posse member before I got to the lobby. So when I saw him pop his happy lil butt on the map attempting to make a run....I had to say hi. He was a lvl 270 picking on a lvl 12. I'm all about teaching lessons.

In that case, I humbly apologize. I read you completely wrong.

I see attacking rival wagons as a totally legitimate part of the game and not griefing at all.  Having said that I would like to see it trigger a decent bounty, if only for a while to alert bounty hunters. When stealing these supplies we're playing bandit so it would make sense.  It would also give the bounty hunter players something to do which they were sold but is sorely lacking.

Another point not made so far is just how much those wagons are worth to a good size posse.  With 625 dollars for a long distance delivery and six posse members scoring 300 each that wagon becomes worth close to two and a half thousand. It's worth making friends out their folks.

Well, to be fair, if I’m feeling like stealing your wagon, all I know is an rival trader is making a delivery’. I don’t know Pluck is only level 3 or 5or whatever, or that he’s having a bad day for whatever reason. I just see an opportunity and make a quick decision... is it worth the risk? Am I in the middle of something else? Do I have time?

After all, we all have our plans. We just need more money.

I guess I'm always put in the beginners sessions.  I've made several deliveries.  I always run the long distance deliveries.  I'm always running solo due to not knowing anyone that plays.  Or maybe everyone takes mercy on me.

I have stolen 1 wagon.  But i stopped short of the drop off and gave it back.  It was fun and I'm sure the other fellow was grateful.

I'm not sure that there are beginner sessions?  I saw everyone from level 6 up to someone at level 406 (!) last night, with several over 200.  I'm 85 and almost always alone, so now only do short deliveries.  A banked $500 is much better than a risky $625 for me - if I lose one in four long runs then the money is the same between the two.  I'm a trader in real life so perhaps I just look at Risk:Reward too much but I think you're going to run out of luck doing solo long deliveries on a day when a new legendary bounty hasn't dropped.  I find enough players lurking at dropoff points as it is!

Respect to you, though!

Parley, maybe?

I don't always get the parley option and don't always get the 'press charges' option, I get them 90% of the time but not always.  I figured it's a minor glitch but didn't bother reporting them (as pressing charges does nothing and I never met an opponent I couldn't run away from successfully!).

Same.

I'm not much of a Parleyer, myself, but in Pluck's situation, (a lvl 4 being griefed by 3 x 150+s for 1.5 hours) I'd have thought the option would have come up, and I might have been inclined to deploy it, by then.  I've never actually resorted to changing servers yet, but that would be the other option.  Or accept an invite to a freeroam event, for that matter.  The point being that you don't just need to spend 1.5 hours being murdered - there are multiple ways to get out of the situation, if you want.

I personally haven't got to the point yet of it not being fun - if the going gets tough, load up the explosive rounds and dynamite arrows, and at least take 'em down with you.

I think he's talking about just normal free roam - given he's lvl 4 and just trying to ride to the next story mission.

No, I think once in long distance delivery, you are placed into a ‘mission’ sort of mode, basically you become fair game for anyone in the mood to mess with you.

That was my understanding as well.  ....which again is part of the design.

actually im talking for both situation ,  1 where   3 high level grief low level , i know about parley , i wanted to see how far they can go as being *** ...  and for distant delivery , when u barely see 1 animal in 5hour of play , take u few hours to set ur camp cause servers bugged , being griefed during large delivery is a super slap in the face

Patient:  "Doctor, it hurts when I bend my arm this way."

Doctor:  "Then don't bend your arm that way."

Completed five long distance deliveries a couple of nights ago with my posse.  Each taking turns as posse leader with a full large wagon.  A pretty nice chunk of change for all concerned with no hint of trouble, which if anything disappointed us.

If you want big money running solo then collecting is your safest bet.  Local deliveries are a decent solo payday as well.  Many prefer to lone wolf it and that's fair enough but if you play with that (or any) constraint then parts of the game will always be harder or completely out of reach.  I wouldn't be able to do the big bounties alone either.

Hate to be the one to break it too you, but doing the long delivery just puts you at risk. That’s why it pays more. Also, I’ve personally never noticed the animals so bad it takes five hours to find one... when the spawns are bad, I just jump servers  and it seems to fix it. As for the camp, well, it might not always end up where I want it, but even with the bugs it doesn’t take me more than about 10-15 minutes of screwing around  to set one up (while doing other things such as a bounty) though I agree that bugs making life difficult is annoying.

Now what this has to do with someone else (or multiple someone else’s) using the game mechanics to rob you and save themselves the hassle of hunting and screwing with their camps (you know, kind of like an outlaw in the Wild West Might actually do) I’m not so sure. You are after all volunteering to make the long delivery and expose yourself greater risk, and they’re just playing with it the mechanics of the game to profit off of you. I get it can be frustrating, but there are things  you can do to lower your exposure, such as making a local delivery for less money, or teaming up with a posse to make delivery runs.

Bottom line, if someone jacks your long delivery, they likely aren’t doing it just to make you feel bad. They are just using the game as designed to boost their supplies. They likely don’t know more information than some guy is making a delivery and there are no dots around him, easy target for some quick free supplies. And Honestly, it’s your own fault for making the long run alone. I mean, I do it frequently myself, and if someone comes for my wagon I fight like the devil to keep it. But I like the challenge. When I’m not in the mood to take the risk or fight players I’ll stick to a local delivery.

.....and thats pretty much what it boils down to.

I'm sorry but it sounds like some want the ability to reap the benefits of these missions without the risk.

Long distance deliveries are meant to be more challenging by introducing rival players but they also encourage people to play as a team.

Posse up if you want to even the odds. .....or use the option R* provided to soloists looking to avoid conflict and do local deliveries.

Hello. How do you get other people join your delivery run? Do they have to be in your posse? How do you even create a posse in game? In help option in menu it says there are an online options in the player tab but I find noooo online option in the player tab. Frustrating because I think I might miss out on things. Even says you can change char appereance in the player tab but I only see "deleting your char" in player tab. I think I might be oblivious to that there might be an option button for online outside the normal esc key to menus. Help......thanks.

Just checking the obvious - on the xbox (so I'm guessing on PC) there are more options on the online menu than you can see at one time.  Have you tried scrolling down the menu?  There are 2 or 3 further options at the bottom - I think that is where 'change appearance' is.

I am wary of inviting a random stranger into my posse to do delivery runs, as I'm not sure why they wouldn't just leave my posse just before the end, and shoot me in the back and steal my stuff.  Maybe I'm just being paranoid, and/or the financial reward for them staying in is greater than for betraying me at the end.

What system do you play on?

I have joined lots of temporary posses to run deliveries in with people - it's fun and it pays very well, have made a lot from it.  So if I say yes I'll stick with it and see it through, I can't be the only one.  For my own deliveries I just do local solo runs.  Between the two I am making a packet and don't have to run a posse (maybe I'm averse to pressure!).  But I figure you'd be safe with casual invitations more often than not.  I have done many and never seen an issue.
