We’ve all seen this leaked map. It’s old news.  But do we know how it measures up to New Austin and Nuevo Paraiso or even San Andreas in terms of size? And any guesses as to why they didn’t include  New Austin and Nuevo Paraiso in RDR2? They already built it! Copy and paste that sh*t!

It could just be a mock-up version of the real map. I can see it being real though given the locations and the size. Maybe we will see a map next for some news.

I say it is legit. It matches what we know about the game and most people, like Benjo mentions, seem to believe it is real. Not just general plays or fans but people who know their stuff. So I say the size is accurate.

I don't think it will happen. But i really wish that the New Austin area would be included in RDR2.

I hope this is true too, would be cool to see a remastered New Austin, it also states John never visited New Austin before 1911 whose to say Arthur didn't go?

Well, in the story trailer, Arthur tells somebody that the law chased them from the west and from the mountains...so i really hope that the western areas that Arthur is talking about is New Austin...perhaps we get to see Tumbleweed before being a ghost town...

I was thinking about that a few months ago, I was debating with some friends about it and we was discussing about if we will see Tumbleweed before it did get deserted, and we was also trying to find info about a possible date for when the town did get deserted.

The wiki for Tumbleweed is the best place to try and find out when the town last had been occupated.

http://reddead.wikia.com/wiki/Tumbleweed

The only dates to go by are what are marked on the graves at the church in Tumbleweed, the latest date recorded on the grave stones was 1906, 5 years before the events of RDR 1, so there is a possibility of seeing Tumbleweed before it got haunted and deserted.

Today Rockstar announced some new  RDR2 collectables.

Here's one of them.

“The train, as featured in the game, runs passengers and freight on the entire network of railways throughout Ambarino, New Hanover, West Elizabeth, Lemoyne and New Austin.”

I am almost certain there will be given what we have seen on the trailer. Now this collectible train kind of confirms it for me. Going to be badass.

So does this mean Nuevo Paraiso is back too?? That would be kick ass.

I'm hoping the whole of the original map has been remastered and is coming back, maybe since New Austin is pretty much confirmed, there's a chance we could see Tumbleweed before it was deserted.

I don't mind the old map coming back but with some extension further up north so we can get more grass and snow lands. I don't want it to be the entire same. I want some new places to explore ya know?

Yeah even if they added the older map I reckon it would only be a 1/4 of what the map will be in RDR2. People reckon it will be the biggest R* map ever.

Does everyone think the part of Mexico that was in RDR1 will return? New Austin has been pretty much confirmed. And my most recent post in this thread :

I’m hoping this is the case so we can visit old memories but still have an enormous scaled world to explore.

I expect that the map will be HUGE as they said it will have almost all the environments you can think of. Also they map of GTA San andreas was one of the biggest maps I have ever seen in a game and they have not ever gone that big in scale. So I am hoping it will come back to have more and more content to discover.

Size isn't everything - Said no woman ever. 🤣

Joke aside, it really isn't. I don't want a huge map if it is nothing but dead space. I am hoping we get something similar to GTA V's map size with a bit more "hidden" areas and I will be happy with that.

It won't be "dead space" though. You can see that in the trailers, there is a lot of heavily populated terrain with wildlife and different weather patterns.

For every R$ release there are 4 basic things I look for in the map. I want to be able to:

  1. get lost in because it's so big
  2. spend a week in one area because its so interesting and densely populated
  3. be able to go to another area a week later and have a fairly fresh experience there because it's been a while since I've been there
  4. still be discovering new things 6 months from now

From what I've heard and read so far I believe R$ have delivered on all 4 points for RDR2.

Is it wrong that this same criteria applied to my dating pool prior to meeting Mrs. Creed?

That is a biggy for me. I want to be able to have the map still feel fresh after 6 months. Given that I work a full-time job and a part-time season job in the winter months, I won't be playing as much so it shouldn't be too difficult.

The map doesn't need to be huge but it has to leave room for exploration. I want there to be enough that even after I complete the story, there is a good chance I didn't see everything and it will be worth my time exploring it more.

Anyone else shocked that the map for the game was actually leaked? That's gotta be a pretty big deal over at Rockstar HQ...

Yeah I was skeptical at the time just as everyone was. Never thought it would be legit. That just doesn't happen.
