Online Rodeo?

1850s

By the mid-1800s, charreada-style competition became popular in the Southwest, particularly in Texas and California where Mexican and Anglo ranch hands worked together. In 1852, the Lone Star Fair held in Corpus Christi, Texas, became the first-ever Anglo-American organized event to host a charreada-style bull fighting. Don Camarena, a matador from Mexico City, headlined the event. Jaripeo was featured as a secondary event, but was so popular that it made newspaper headlines as far away as New Orleans. During this time, Wild West shows also began adding steer riding to their acts, as steers were far easier to handle than bulls.

So knowing that it was a thing back then in the south, you think we will have an online mode to play this? Like legit rodeo, we can do against other players for in-game money?

Cool idea dude, I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar decided to incorporate something like this into Red Dead Online but I also wouldn't be surprised if they drop Red Dead Online with just the basic/standard game modes at first and something like this is added later as DLC similar to how they slowly added game modes to GTA Online.

Including a game mode like this wouldn't be too difficult for Rockstar, they included a job in most towns in Red Dead Redemption where you broke wild horses for cash so making an online rodeo with a few extra activities wouldn't be such a stretch.

Like Archbell said, they will have stuff like this but it will be added in slowly.

It makes the most sense when you want to keep a game lively and feeling fresh. Think of all the other games out there that gave you most of what the game was up front and very little after. People get bored and move on.

I mean if we get a rodeo, may as well have cow branding! That would be hilarious. Or maybe that is just my sick sense of humor bleeding through. I like the rodeo thing though. Hope they add something like this in it.

LOL Cow branding would be awesome...maybe you could put your club's logo on your cow

I am down for this. I mean when you consider the number of random play modes and mini-games in GTA Online, you have to figure they will be getting creative with this one. I can see them doing some wacky stuff but also some true to the time stuff like branding and rodeos.

This would be a great candidate for a global event that could be rotated on a temporary basis.

How would they would out a rotation for it? Just curious what you are thinking on it.

I like the idea of it being a thing online. The mini-games and things where players can mess around help keep the community alive and thriving.

I'm sure they have advanced marketing research and analytics that will provide better data to plan from, but if it where me, once a month, there'd be a unique event (both online and offline) that would have special quests and rewards available for a week.

It could be a rodeo coming to town.  Or a circus.  A snake oil salesmen could ride up on a wagon and start hawking his miracle cure.  There could be a train robbery, or robbing a stagecoach.  Stealing a car.  The point is, they have a lot of leeway to make monthly events big or small, and provide fun cosmetic rewards to keep players engaged.

Elder Scrolls Online does a terrific job with this, as does The Division.  I'm not saying that RDR2 hs to mimic either of these systems, but they provide two different examples of getting limited time events "right".

The Division has been horrible at it.  Just about every big event, takes 2 days for their servers to catch up.

I've never had an issue on PS4.  It's my recollection that most of the issues are isolated to PC (but I could be wrong).

Edit: I'm also looking at it from the comparison to the issues with F13.  By comparison, TD is practically flawless (hyperbole, but still...)

I am all for new things being added. They are a lot more limited in comparison to GTA Online so my guess is this either will be a thing or will likely be discussed for the future. I think they intend on adding things over time to keep people keen and interested in playing online for at least 3 or 4 years.
