It's more than that, though. They do a substantial amount of world building and storytelling in those first few hours. And I loved every moment of it.

Bunch of sad bastards really. People Just shouldn't listen to their pettiness. At the end of the day, it is up to you about what your opinion is on the game, sure. Reviews can help you get a general idea of what the game is/could like. But watching/reading someone elses own opinion on the game, is not the same as playing the game yourself.

Firstly, hi to everyone, new to this place and first post. Liked what i was reading on the posts that I saw and joined up. So, here I was today, enjoying the game, galloping along on my horse... And rode it head first into a tree. I for some reason, assumed that it would just kinda bounce off to the side of it and keep on going. Nope.. Knocked the poor horse out cold for a few seconds. Total wtf moment for me and absolutely loved that they put this kind of thing into the game. Felt sorry for my poor horse but couldn't stop thinking about how damn amazing it was that it happened. Can't wait to get to fishing and crafting.

First. Red Dead 1. Top 5 game of my all time list EVER. But. Played so many games since. Especially Destiny the last few years. GoW etc Good grief the gun play and combat is atrocious. Alright it's basica and average. But nothing spectacular. How do they have all this money and can't improve the shooting mechanics at all? That's my ONLY gripe. But it's a big one. It feels stiff like I'm battling the character. Not like he is an extension of my arm. I don't understand. The Kotaku review was the only to mention this. It's like stuck in last gen shooting mechanics. Do you guys agree? Am I missing something. Or DO you guys think this is on purpose? Like the view doesn't even shift. I don't know I feel like there is so much more they could of done with it. A game centered around shooting. It feels like GTA V which is to say still mediocre. I expected more. Oh well. Back to the story.

I did play it yeah, ending up sleeping till about like an hour ago. Called off work. About to go pick up some food and play some more. This game is... SOOO GOOOOD!

I think certain people take people's indifference or lack of desire for this content to be in their games as somehow being prudish. Personally, it does nothing for me in games. ....it did nothing for me in titles like the Witcher 3. I can't believe this is even an "issue" of concern due to it lacking in a game but c 'est la vie. Different "strokes" for different folks I guess. 😏 All I know is that the game is great so far and I'm having a blast playing it. .....sex or no sex.

Who cares? The only critic that matters to you should be you. Everyone else is just voicing their opinions and those usually aren't based off good reasoning. Played GTA last night and a guy in our group said he wasn't buying RDR2, cause it was nothing more then GTA in the old west. He started ranting about all the idiots who was going to get RDR2 and started putting them down. Then asked if I would be playing GTA tonight. I said nope, I prefer the old west. Conversation stopped. He realized all his rants was insulting the players he had been playing with.

Damn, they REALLY want you to care for your horse... Watching your horse get hurt isn't quiet the same as watching your motorcycle fly into a building...

it does sound epic. But I must tell you, what I am most excited about is actually riding through the original RDR map and seeing the differences and similarities. I know the first map so well, I can't wait to ride through it again but in a different way, actually in the past! I'm still waiting. Mine arrives today.

Okay, currently I am 8.9% into the game. I have to say everything is going great, I loved the intro, as well as some of the missions I am currently doing. I think that the graphics are also very great. This game is really addicting, and I cannot wait to explore more and see what happens with the story. I'm hoping I can take my time and enjoy the story and campaign and then focus on Read Dead Online. Anyways, let me know what your thoughts and opinions are about Red Dead Redemption 2. Is it what you thought it would be? Was it better or worse?

If you have an Xbox elite controller you need to disable your trigger guard on the back of the controller. If you don’t have an Xbox elite controller idk. I have an elite controller had the same problem as soon as I flipped it up it was perfectly fine. If not, you might need to call rockstar

Very true, the shooting experience is really fun in my opinion.

Probably won't be too bad for me now that I think about it. I recently played through the first halo mainly using the pistol. My trigger finger got a good workout! Just have to get used to it. I feel like I played another game that did it that way...

PS4 just crashed. Came home after shopping with my wife, and it's back in rest mode and won't even turn on now. Oh well. Glad to hear about the other people are enjoying the game. Hopefully I will soon too. Quite devastating to be honest. Okay so I unplugged it, let it cool down for a few minutes plugged it back in and rebooted it. It's continuing to install now. It was kind of cramped up in my wall unit, now there's a lot more air flow around the console so maybe that will help. Fingers crossed LOL

Preach brother.... ......and those 3 hours I played last night barely scratched the surface. I really can't wait until I begin to free-roam but I am enjoying the lead up to that. The scenery was amazing and I liked how they blended the tutorial with the setting up of the plot, characters, etc.

This is all I would want it to be. That could easily be a harlot too. You go to the brothel and drop 20 bucks on a roll in the hay up stairs. She takes you into the room, quick cut scene of a shirt coming off or something tame and then it’s over- with health regenerated.

It isn't any warmer than usual. The first disc is done now, I just put in the play disc when it asked me to about 2 minutes ago. It says there's another 6 hours left. Well, back to the move I guess LOL... (Not actually laughing but you know what I mean) but seriously, I'm just happy it's making progress and I'm sure everything will be fine. Time will tell.

For me, I don't really equate sex in video games to brothels and prostitutes. Honestly, if they want to do an implied sex scene -- something like, a woman you've been courting for some time sits down with you by the fire, then a kiss, then she gets up and closes/locks a door (that the camera's behind) -- I'm all for that. That's emotion and connection, and gives you the implication of a romantic night together without being graphic. The Bond films did that very well: sensual, but never nudity or graphic scenes. I think making a romantic connection with characters would greatly help with immersion. I'd like that a ton more than the camera following Arthur into a prostitute's room in the second floor of a saloon for a quick boink.

I'm just over 4 hours in and I'm loving it, I think the pace is brilliant and I am constantly reminded that I haven't even scratched the surface. This game is like a never-ending jawbreaker.

As with all Rockstar games most of the first hours are taken up with missions so it's difficult to get a full grasp, especially as it feels like I've literally touched on 0.001% of what the game has to offer. I've not even had chance to check out the awesome views and amazing atmosphere, but yes, I can tell you that just strolling through the muddy streets of some tiny little village is epic. I'm looking forward to trekking off and experiencing the world, but for now, all about missions.

Had a dressed rest this afternoon (lie on the bed resting fully clothed), showered and changed, took my wife to dinner for our 46th anniversary, just got back, changed into casuals ... sitting here for 45mins and away we go ... going for an all nighter ...

I feel zombies has been a little overdone in the past decade or so. The vampires and werwolves thing sounds kinda cool, kinda like Underworld in the Wild West. Could be a lot of fun if done properly. Aliens seems more like what Rockstar would do, considering some of the stuff they put into GTA V and online.

Yeah, sex in RDR2 was nowhere even on my check list of things I would have wanted. ....wouldn't care if it was in there either but certainly could care less that it isn't.

After the whole "Coffee" incident with GTA San Andreas. I can see why they wouldn't. I can see your point, but as I said in another thread. To me it isn't needed for the game. I won't say Rockstar is a family friendly, but with our society being as sensitive as is about this kind of topic. I am sure that is a fight they don't want to have.

What about a combination of ideas stemming from writers, written works and myth from the period. .....Brahm, Stoker, Shelley, Stevenson, etc. Maybe you fall into the role of a 19th century "monster hunter" of sorts with main characters that you need to defeat (Frankenstien, Dracula, etc.) but also other minions and victims that you encounter throughout the world. Voodoo in the Lemoyne region and yeah, maybe even zombies from legend. Just spitballin' here.....
