To the southwest of Vallentine is a small pool of water that juts our from the river. It’s next to the large bridge with the roof and a small dry gulley underneath it. If you pull out your fishing rod and unequip it a bunch of fish will spawn in the pool. Using a varmin rifle you can shoot the fish and clear the pool in about 10 mins. 20 can spawn in there easily and they often beach themselves which means you can just pick them up on the shore. The resulting two star fish sell for the same as a three star fish. The real money maker is the Sockeye Samon which will make you $45 a stack. If you get to 10 of any one fish start shooting them twice to make them 1 Star and a separate stackable. You can sell at strawberry or valentine as they are equidistant from the spot. To refresh the pool you have to travel a decent distance away and then come back. I usually clear the pool twice before selling my wares. There are rabbits along the trails worth a lot if you use the varmit rifle as well. I made $500 in one night doing this easily with no pressure or rushing. Enjoy.5 points

This feedback is crucial to help shape the game as we move forward. Today we are starting to implement the first set of adjustments to the game including changes specifically geared towards creating a more balanced, fun and rewarding overall experience, across all modes and missions. These include: Increasing the cash and gold payments across a number of different activities including Free Roam Missions, Free Roam Events, replays of A Land of Opportunities Missions, Showdown Series modes and more. Reducing the prices of most weapons in the Wheeler, Rawson & Co Catalogue and Gunsmiths. For players that have already purchased weapons at the previous prices, we will automatically deposit the difference to player balances starting today - please look for an alert message the next time you log in to the Red Dead Online Beta to notify you of this change, refunds may take up until December 10th to reach all players. Balancing the values of select pelts, skins and fish as well as horse reviver and pamphlets. Of course our efforts to improve and balance the Red Dead Online Beta will continue. We are conscious of and still evaluating an assortment of further adjustments based on feedback from the community. We are currently working on fixes for some persistent bugs that are causing some players to be kicked from sessions, and we aim to have fixes for these live next week. We will also continue to review all the feedback and suggestions so please keep them coming to reddeadonline.com/feedback. As an added thank you for playing and helping us through the beta period, we're also awarding everyone that joined in to play the Red Dead Online Beta at any point through midnight PST today with a gift of RDO$250 and 15 Gold Bars. Gifts should start arriving today and will hit all eligible players by Friday, December 14th. Once again, we want to thank everyone for playing the Red Dead Online Beta and sharing their experiences so far with us. There’s still lots more to come so please stay tuned!3 points

Take turns Swamp Skippin' in the Bayou. Get your health up high. Have someone Lasso you.. and start pulling you through the swamp near the gators and looping around.. The horse will freak out near the gators, which in turns makes you go flying around while being pulled by the lasso. Wild turns will get you some major Air. Cut the Lasso with a Knife at the right moment and you'll go flying.3 points

I don't have a fishing rod yet, and when I do get one I may not bother using it - as I find reeling the right stick adequately to be difficult with my disabilities. Instead I've discovered I can fish more easily using throwing knives LOL - sure you damage the fish (smaller ones especially) but they still add up. Simply find a spot low enough to wade into, aim and throw, instant kill, fishy goes belly up and you get your knives back when you pick them up. Caught a big one last night up by Window Rock, needed to toss it onto my horse to ride it back to Valentine3 points

Competitive is different then PvP to me. So my suggestions are rodeo or olympic like. What about breaking horses or Bronco riding. Hunting, different classes for different weapons. Freeaim skeet style, where birds fly out . Fishing. Now if you talk PvP, what about a Hide Out Defense, where you see how long a Posse or gang can defend a fort or ranch or camp of some short, then reverse and see how the other camp does.2 points

Well the one I have beats the one I got from the stealing mission in speed and stamina, I got the worst one from those 4 choices. I didn't know they had different stats when I started so I chose the one I though was more appealing to the eyes. You mean when you call the Arabian the Scrawny Nag shows up? if so, it's a bug... I posted a work around in another topic: https://www.rdr2.org/forums/topic/3384-free-roam-missing-horse/ If that's not what you meant, then ignore this message hahahaha2 points

I hope they stay true to that, and they stop at that Gold Bar horse with better stamina and health stats.2 points

Just created a thread about it but the update lands today. Seems it's all about economy changes. Weapons will cost less and payuts will be more. Players who purchased weapons previously will be credited. ....plus, a bonus of 15 gold and $250 for those of us who have played during this period. Last hog standing? Lasso's only, everyone tries to hogtie each other, last one standing wins. More of a novelty game mode when you want to just mess around. I feel they should also appear if the player who belongs to said blip has been spotted, and only for as long as they're in someone's LoS, or possibly even a second or two as a faded blip afterwards, as a last known position thing.2 points

Yes dynamite is bad for fishing. Played with a group the other day that they decided to go fishing. I wasn't high enough to unlock the fishing rod yet. So while I was running around and hunting I heard a huge explosion, they all laughed, then realized that they would have to wait for the respawn.2 points

Just tested - made just over $70 in about 15 minutes.2 points

I made the mistake of playing my entire first play through with the HDR function on, only now looking back at my screenshots did I realize just how bad it makes the game look. First of all, in true 4K, this game is otherworldly, I found myself staring at a picture of me by flat iron lake for a few minutes in SDR. You are not missing out on anything with HDR in this game. However, in select past titles and future ones, HDR makes a huge difference in image quality. Unless Rockstar fixes the HDR implementation in the future, this game will always look better in SDR.2 points

Buckle stays, cant be earned again, tho no point if you have it. You just get gold nuggets after resetting the award progress. Wondering if theres a limit to how many times it can be reset, guess only time will tell. All you really lose is the progress since you're resetting it, but it put like a 1 or something next to it when I did, so guess it keeps track of how many times you reset it.1 point

Fairly confident they reduced the sell price of salmon, I sold a full stack for around $25 where as they were around $45 before.1 point

Ah, competitive in the sense like horse races, gotcha. Misread that I guess. Hunting and fishing competitions should definitely be in there. Whoever brings the pelt worth the most for hunting, biggest fish for fishing. Have to use a specific weapon, or bait, for both of them. Dynamite only fishing would be fun. That was one thing I liked in GTA that never got any traction was the animal hunting (I think it was only in story mode, and there wasn't much to it). Maybe some bandit ones, 5 minutes to steal/rob the most cash. Who has the highest bounty without dying or getting caught. Maybe a horse/wagon fencing competition, make the most money from stolen horses/wagons. I'm sure there will be wagon races already, maybe rowboat/canoe races for a change of pace. Not sure how many people would want foot races, but those could be done easily as well. This ones PvP, but also somewhat competitive. Maybe a bare-knuckle tournament style brawl. 1v1, 8 players, spectate while 2 people duke it out for like 30 sec, 1 min tops.1 point

You gave me a great idea. I will try it on my friend later and report back. LOL He is going to be pissed.1 point

I was going to make a female character but they all ended up looking like dudes. So I made a male character... And I swear he looks like my aunt. What is going on here!?1 point

Yea, two different melee modes would be good, one with weapons, one using fists only. They have counters and blocks in already, so it shouldn't be hard. A bar brawl mode would be fun too.. Inside a saloon, maybe cycle through a few of them for a different layout each time. Start with nothing, but pick up chairs or bottles. Maybe make them all one time use but they do like 40% damage of the players health. People getting thrown out a window are out of the match no matter their health. Something along those lines would definitely be my go to brawl mode if it gets put in1 point

Yeah, they had to split the cash for gambling. I'd rather they do that, and have some MTs than not have poker. Fair trade IMHO.1 point

FYI..... If any of you haven't played RDO yet up to this point, you can still logon today before midnight to take advantage of the free bonus (15 gold and $250).1 point

I'm no PVP expert - not by a long stretch. But my core answer would be: depends upon your play style. Do you want to snipe people from a long distance and use the same rifle for hunting? Bolt action. Do you want a rapid fire, medium range rifle? Lancaster repeater. Do you want to save money, are fine getting medium range headshots in PVP, and want to hunt birds? Varmint rifle.1 point

One of the more challenging activities you can encounter in Red Dead Online while in free roam is a Gang Hideout waiting to be cleared. These camps of enemy bandits pop up occasionally in fixed locations and clearing them carries with it the chance to acquire some valuable items or treasure maps. If you intend to complete challenge awards, you'll inevitably be directed towards these hideouts sooner or later. Gang hideouts can spawn in 24 locations. These spawn locations are fixed, but there is no guarantee that the camp will be there when you travel to the spawn point. Of the 24 locations, a few are just out in the open with no props in the game world indicating their presence unless they're spawned in. Thanks to a Reddit user who goes by Rock1Jump, we have a map showing each Gang Hideout spawn location. The two locations that the author marked as "makeshift camp" are the ones that aren't obvious unless the hideout has actually spawned in. When you clear gang hideouts, there is a chance that the gang leader will drop a treasure map that will lead to you valuable loot somewhere in the game world. The drop rate for the maps isn't known as of present, but it is definitely very low - some players report that after clearing 20 hideouts, they've encountered none, while others found just one after 12 cleared hideouts. At the same time, a few lucky players report drop rates of two out of two cleared hideouts or one out of four hideouts, but these seem like fortunate outliers - especially the former. Treasure chests can only be looted by the player who has the treasure map. The physical chest itself is visible to all players in the session and can be opened if they find it, but there will only actually be any loot inside if you have the map pointing to it, otherwise, it will be empty. Due to the sporadic drop rate, relying on treasure maps from hideouts isn't a good strategy for securing income. Instead, check out our money making guide for Red Dead Online. The post Red Dead Online Gang Hideout Spawn Locations appeared first on RDR2.org. Read the full story1 point

I get bored quickly doing the same things, so I do 'circuits' or 'routes' to keep it varied. Typically, I mark a way point on the map as a half way point, then after reaching it mark the butcher for the return journey. Whilst on one of my expeditions I'll shoot most small game and birds I come across; investigate and loot any open buildings; collect a few bunches of herbs; take out two or three big game; do a spot of fishing; clear out any bandit camps or deal with an ambush and loot the bodies; and maybe commit a murder or three with lone riders (I'm slowly lowering my honor down so as to unlock final story missions). Then I'll do a round a series events, do any treasure maps I have, then go shopping.1 point

I want to steal a chuckwagon with no tarp and fill it with pelts and deer carcasses from this area to see if it would work - but at the current state of no anonymity, I don't want to advertise "PERSON HUNTING MAKING A LOT OF MONEY WITH A SLOW AND STEALABLE WAGON!!" to everyone looking on their map so I'm waiting for invite only lobbies1 point

When HDR is gone right, it looks incredible. i.e. Horizon Zero Dawn, AC:Odyssey. When it's not, well... then you get RDR 2. Now, the HDR in RDR 2 is very, very subjective. To me, the HDR in RDR 2 blows out the colors and they look more washed out, This is because the implementation pretty much brightens specific colors rather than objects and scenes. Therefore you loose a lot of detail, especially while in the snow areas because HDR blows our the white color. However... the positive is the game looks more "movie like" to me. I have been keeping HDR off since I prefer to see the details in everything and the colors aren't blown or washed out, so the greens look more green, the shadows look more black, etc.... The SDR image contain a lot more of the details (since the HDR image is just the SDR image with a ton of brightness thrown on top).1 point

i've killed numerous moose at Lake Isabella, just to the south of it where the legendary horse spawns. Killed a perfect Bull while chasing the damn Legendary Bison. By the way, you can't kill the Bison with the Varmint Rifle. Shot him 5 times before i realized i had equipped the wrong rifle.🤫 I see a couple almost every time i go up to the lake there. There's a fallen down shack to the west of the lake, i see them in the that area often if they're not around the lake.1 point
