I don't know how many folks may have missed this in R*s latest beta status update (I've mentioned it before) but I think it's really interesting. This new "dynamic" sounds like a potentially great opportunity for everyone as it seems players might have a chance to take an active role in being on the side of the law or as "rogues". There's a level of accountability to indiscriminate killing while adding a potentially new and fun aspect to the gameplay. The only people who may not like it are some of the griefers taking advantage of easy targets but I can see how others might welcome the new challenge and chance to role play. If folks could just set aside for a moment trying to define what RDO is (e.g. PvE, PvP, PvPvE, FFA), take a step back and see what R* has said is coming down the pike, I think it's obvious that they don't want to eliminate the adversarial aspect of the gameplay but simply try and help mitigate some of the griefing taking place. .....in other words, balance (which is really all that some of us have been asking for). In the end, we could end up with new and interesting aspects to the gameplay that benefit everyone. Let's see how it shakes out first.5 points

Its less about loving ' to watch their backs'. And just accepting it. Well that's the way I see it. It allows players really role play.. As a good, bad or evil player. And creates many good or bad game play moments. Griefing can really.. really be dealt a blow if R* would alter how stupidly easy it is to find and target players. Auto aim + Always on blips is the reason that griefers do what they do.. so easily. Also this game needs MORE butchers. Every region needs two butchers at the very least. This ^ won't stop griefing. But it sure as hell would make it much more rare. .3 points

I am adamant against griefing in PvEvP. I don't have issues with those who PvP. I don't think I ever said I was on a server of 31. Most players I have seen in one combat, was where a guy invited me and it was 14v2. Which is 16 players. The speculation of it nullifying griefers was a joke. Cause most of the old GTA folks will remember that every time they did something to fix griefing they would add something to make it actually easier. Edit: Though I got called in cause he felt like he was being griefed. When we started shooting back and we did. It was no longer griefing, we participated in PvP, even though the odds was stacked against us.2 points

I'd change the time it takes to switch modes to like 5 mins. It's very easy to run away and wait out that 30s. But you got a point there though. I guess it would work for those that like to shoot people just to shoot them. But I'm a noble pvper, I will never shoot someone in the back or if they've given me no reason to. And even then if I want to fight I am 50% of the time killing my own friends for fun (not maliciously). Not every pvper is the trigger happy kind. You got the ones like me who want a fair fight. Yeah I could go to one of the pvp modes, but often I like creating my own. Like I and some friends made a capture the flag pvp thing by which group can keep the train the longest. That was hella fun for me. On the other hand I'd suggest making the towns themselves like safe zones unless a mission is going (much like your camp doesn't protect you while you're on a mission). That would give people a little more peace of mind. I am dying to see how this bounty system will play out. Maybe some want to roleplay as an outlaw and try to evade capture/death. Others might want to take up a bounty as a mission and take out that person if they can.2 points

You'll probably find the person in charge on a Mango farm in Tahiti. Be careful when you get there, though; he may convince you there is a plan, and all that is needed is "a little time" and "some faith". Then they'll turn around and listen to the RDRO Youtubers, the community equivalent of Micah, and ruin it for everyone.2 points

I have killed griefers 300+ and I will just go on killing them. Now my bolt action rifle has explosive express rounds (one shot kill). The remedy for me, grind story and stranger missions till you get a very high rank. Then you go Equaliser on their asses. Nothing more beautiful in this game then watching a griefer fly out of the saddle and dead before they hit the ground. Then you run them down and kill them again.2 points

I cannot retrace the exact issue you are having, however the lvl1 horse bonding reset error is still in the game. This means that even when you have lvl4 bonding with the horse it resets you to lvl 1. When you visit a stable or basically re-log or after finishing a mission it then sets you back to the correct bonding again. This might have happened in the time you were playing although I haven't noticed that you were not awarded the points for riding etcetera during levelling the horse bonding. I assume it will work itselves out for you and you will just lvl up.2 points

Hi Dutch, First, welcome to the forums. Now that is out of the way, please realize that RDR2.org is an RDR fansite and not an official forum for R* or T2. We can't add anything to the game. I know I'd like to see some changes made to the avoiding/diving. Nothing more frustrating than players diving all over the place like an epileptic dolphin half a dozen times then popping off a headshot before doing it all over again! Maybe it should expend half the stamina bar each dive and then half the accuracy for a short time which would be a little more realistic?1 point

@Tenti I merged your posts since we have a prohibition against double posting. Just thought I'd toss you a "heads-up" in case you wondered what happened to the second post. Just a reminder to everyone else; I did some thread cleanup and eliminated the double posts where I found them. I know we're all impassioned on this subject, and we often respond as quickly as we can when things get heated. So far everything in here is fine, content-wise, but please be mindful of double posting going forward. Thanks.1 point

I have been chased from Valentine to Lagras by a griefer. Knew he was following me to mess with me because I got off the road and ran up a mountain and across 2 large rivers and he was taking the exact same path. So I veered off to my camp (I was a lowbie at the time, so didn't have much in the way of defending myself) and when I got there he dashed up and tried to shoot me. Then tried to take my horse (had the settings set to me only) and when he couldn't take it tried to shoot it. I got on the game chat and just said "nice try retard". And he cussed me out and then rode away. I'm sure proximity will at least be within range enough to defend yourself, not like right on top of you or within easy auto aim range.1 point

Yeah, I'm a little iffy on the whole proximity based blips as well. I had the same thoughts as you. We will really need to see how this whole proximity thing works, ranges, etc., but I can certainly see some drawbacks. IMO, the range needs to be long enough to allow players to see potential threats but short enough to keep players "off the radar" when they want to be. If it's too short, I can already see trolls setting up sniper positions near towns, quest points, etc. and using the lack of range to their advantage. When folks talked about this during development, I was all for it. .....but then I started to think of ways griefers could use it to their advantage. Now I'm just waiting to see how it all shakes out.1 point

Agree with Yoda here. when I first started plying RDRO (its was on Day 2) I thought I was going to hate it because I'd hated every other PvP game I'd played and was expecting to be constantly griefed by much better/younger players who have grown up on COD, GTAO etc. Being the wrong side of 50 my reactions aren't as good, and I have limited time. So I was all for finding ways to stop griefing. However, while I still find it irritating at times when you get griefed by a Posse, I find it isn't that much of a problem for several reasons: 1) The map is huge and there are only 24 players at any one time so its easy to avoid people if you want to; 2) There are loads of missions etc to do and loads of other content; 3) The vast majority of people are not griefers and allow you to play 4) Most players are not that good and revenge is always sweeeet; 5) Once you spend the time to buff up your cards you get quite hard to kill anyway so many griefers tend to leave you alone and 6) The Parley/Feud system means that someone can only kill you 4 times anyway so why not try to fight them, if they kill you 4 times take the Parley and ride off into the distance. I don't think many of the anti-griefing steps to be introduced will help at all, especially only being able to see blips within a certain distance as you wont be able to select a quiet region. However, from an old, slow, newbie..just stick with it. If needs be play at a time when its quiet, to build your levels and abilty cards. I have been on a server with only 2 players, so I could hunt Herons etc near St Denis without even seeing another player. Take time to increase levels and buff those cards. Many people just don't bother with them but if you're not an excellent shooter they really help. But mostly, just accept that some people will always grief you. I have found that most people that are genuinely good at RDR play LSS etc rather than grief people, so take them on, it will only make you a better player. If you want a quiet life, as soon as you spawn, check the map to see where everyone is, check the players to see what levels are around. If you don't like the look of the area where you are, go somewhere else or do a mission that respawns you in a new location when it finishes. Finally, Posse up. There is safety in numbers. But remember that most griefers are just bullies at heart and they will just try to pick on the weak. Don't be a victim...be a badass mutha!! Outlaws for Ever!!! Could all be interesting, esp the Bounty / Rogue players elements. However, I really don't like the sound of Proximity Based blips. I have never had anyone chase across a map just to shoot me (anyway I'd see them coming), the issue as it is just people killing you because you are there. If you cant see where people are on the map then you can't select a quiet area to avoid other players if you want. I just can't see any benefit in this at all.1 point

The Level 10 player with starter cards is weak argument. Sorry. We all were Level 1 at some point. I didn't start online day 1 like a lot of people. I was a few weeks behind. Did anyone hold my hand ? No . If I couldn't take the heat, I would have left online. Bottom line is that everyone wants the game to be designed to suit them and their playstyle. Their own personal version of RDRO Utopia. Do I like bitch made griefers? No . I also don't have an entitled attitude thinking R* needs to cater the game just for me.1 point

I wouldn't call myself noble. I consider myself more of a BAD guy with a code..lol But that's the best thing about the game being FFA.. Its its allowing players to be noble, bad, good, evil or just deranged. Ya deranged.. PVP needs lobby hosts with options (and private lobby options). And be able to choose what PVP game modes we want to play as the host. Where the host can choose to toggle off dead eye, passive cards, and block items/satchel use in the options in lobby. That's the only way PVP game modes will ever taken seriously or really enjoyed. Its like.. I need to find the guy who's in charge of RD O and give him a proper talking to in an Dutch Voice. At this point im starting to think the person in charge of RD O is not human. But an A.I.1 point

Very, very true. I'm not even opposed to some of the griefer tactics (imo, lying in wait to ambush players at the butcher is actually quite brilliant), but shooting unarmed players coming out of a cutscene animation and then spawn killing them before they can even reorient is, frankly road apples. That's not a PvE versus PvP debate, that's just garbage design. I also think they need to take a hard look at level banding some of the servers. pitting someone below level 20 against players in the 80's or 90's is never going to be a fair fight, no matter how good or bad the average player is. Even the Showdown Series modes need some balancing--like deactivating a player's cards. I can't tell you how many times I've put a round in someone's head at point blank range in Gun Rush or other modes, only for them to laugh in my face as I get one-shot. Again, road apples. It eliminates any semblance of delineation by ability, much like having auto-aim. And what's worse, unskilled players with a "wide" auto aim setting and dialed up aim assist can burn you down with one hand tied behind their back. Hell, Stevie Wonder could play the game with settings like that.1 point

Ya know something dude, this is very true. And it's an exceptionally mature means of analyzing the issue with the griefing. We're not getting rid of it which some will find annoying, while others probably enjoy participating in it, heck, I'm sure some folk come in from a 12 hour shift at work and love nothing more than jumping in and shooting everyone in sight to relieve some stress. Most likely they're the ones who, if they wanted to fish and chill, would actually ditch the gamepad, grab a rod and actually go outside into the real world to do it. We're all different at the end of the day.1 point

No ones running here mate.i fight back.im talking about the realism of the game being a shooting game and free roam.people can do what they like.mate take a look yourself how many people moaning and bitching because they got shot.and as for leaving lobby im saying if people find themselves outnumbered and cant get on in the game as they wish find another lobby.and no im not some bad ass cowboy i live in 2019 and have a job.its just a game for me to enjoy best i can.dont try think you can pick holes in my comments and think your clever with some smart ass comment back.my points are valid.and yes there were bullys in the wild west who did go shoot and kill all those indians for fun and there own people and not much has changed to this day.the world is full of bullys.killing and robbing.ruining many other peoples existence.the games real.as real as can be.look at history on a whole and many civlilisations killed others for fun and stole because they are bored of there own lives.and want more than they have.just like in the game i can look at a lobby and you can kind of tell if its a friendly lobby or pure chaos.maybe people want rockstar to make lobbys just for hunters to grind xp and money wihout the fear of others attacking and i get that its hard if your solo but they want peolple to team up and work as a team to defend each other and play the game as freely as possible.to many rules will make it not the wild west.even see some post about people saying a griefer should get jail time in game.like come on.get real.i never run unless those players outnumber me playing solo and its just waist all my time and supplies.if im with boys we deal bit of revenge for attacking us then move on as we do not attack anyone out of the blue.only if they try it with us.1 point

We don't know for sure where Rockstar is going with the game yet but, If no PvE servers, as long as Rockstar achieves what they said in their own promotional material for the game--"a fun and fair environment for everyone" while giving gamers the ability to "Explore the world solo or with friends"--I'd be happy with that. But I'd still prefer the PvE servers.1 point

I can respect your view on being a lonewolf. You seem like you appreciate the game for what it is. Not all about mindlessly shooting on site. I always run with a posse (The Born Brothers Gang) and its probably the main reason I even play. Recently, its been the most fun I can remember having in a game hands-down. We like to roleplay and immerse heavily and we play with free aim Only and never shoot friendly randoms on sight. I'd highly recommend free-aim if you value honor and skill which it seems like you do. Not only does it automatically give more immersion, but being able to say you are actually aiming rather than auto targeting in a fight just makes victory that much sweeter. (Until Hardcore free aim lobbies hopefully release like in RD1). While I'm not here to jump on your thread to recruit people, you'd be more than welcome to check us out. (thebornbrothers. com) Or just find us in game.1 point

It’s pretty simple. Just go around the back of the oil yard so that you see the oil cart over the fence in the yard. Then climb over the fence, get on the cart and ride off through the gate to the left. The guards aren’t mounted, so you can leave them behind pretty quickly. Look on YouTube, there’s plenty of videos of the best ways of doing missions.1 point

Last winter, Oreo released a limited edition with a cinnamon red-hot flavored filling that almost sent me into poverty. The only thing better is a soft ginger cookie that's still warm from the oven. My dreams are haunted by those Cinnamon Red Hot Oreos. When they released their "Holiday" edition with red filling his year, I almost cried with happiness. That cry turned into a wailing and gnashing of teeth when I found out the same red filling was no longer cinnamon based. I'm pretty certain my emails to Nabisco have put me on some sort of watch list as a result. I randomly stumbled across a thread in Reddit that said you could make a homemade Bilzzard with just ice cream and one of those big, heavy duty Kitchen Aid Mixers. As we have the mixer already (wedding gift), I tried it out, and I'll be damned if it wasn't better than a regular Blizzard from [Insert Franchise Frozen Dariy Provider Here]. Probably because I could load it with whatever I wanted. I chose Fireball and Nerds.1 point

The PvP / PvE aspect of Free Roam is obviously a well debated topic and one that has sparked some obvious divides among some folks. All I'm saying is that we can still discuss the topics here with a level of civility without trying to belittle someone or a group of fellow members simply for sharing a difference of opinion. That only serves to incite a negative reaction in others followed by a toxic exchange. What good does that do? Hey, I get tired of hearing some folks as well on forums for one reason or another so I just use the ignore feature and voila. .....I don't have to read their remarks. I can't really do that here because I'm a mod (I need to see what folks are posting), but I think you get the point. All I will say about your examples of "whiners" is that in RDOs case, those folks used the feedback site R* provided to lodge their complaints and make their suggestions. ....and this wasn't a small group according R*. This feedback is the reason they are implementing anti-griefing measures for those who indiscriminately kill (using their own words). No one here is privy to all of the gameplay data, feedback, reports, etc. that R* is. .....and I have to believe they are using all of that valuable information to help drive their decisions vs. making knee-jerk choices based on the opinion of a small minority of their player base. Look, my point is that slamming people for voicing their opinion isn't the answer. First, it doesn't help change anyone's opinion on the topic and second, it doesn't change anything with the game. Unlike other betas on console, RDO is still in development and R* is taking feedback seriously in it's development. They have been urging people to use their feedback page to submit their own ideas, suggestions, bug reports and complaints. I've used it several times myself. If you really don't like the direction you think RDO is going, I would urge you to do the same.1 point

I for one am tired of looking over my shoulder all the time and running around in crouched position just to avoid a$$hats. There is a large community that plays the game as intended but there is also a large segment that wants to make the whole damned place a big fortnite and frankly I am tired of these people. We need invite only sessions and we need them sooner rather than later. But the a$$hats have also paid there money and deserve to play it to there liking. So again we need invite only sessions. The best answer in my opinion. I continue to put that into my feedback on daily basis and I encourage all of you to do the same.1 point
