Rockstar is like Dutch. They have a plan, it's a good one, but they'll never tell you until the last minute.5 points

I don't know how many folks may have missed this in R*s latest beta status update (I've mentioned it before) but I think it's really interesting. This new "dynamic" sounds like a potentially great opportunity for everyone as it seems players might have a chance to take an active role in being on the side of the law or as "rogues". There's a level of accountability to indiscriminate killing while adding a potentially new and fun aspect to the gameplay. The only people who may not like it are some of the griefers taking advantage of easy targets but I can see how others might welcome the new challenge and chance to role play. If folks could just set aside for a moment trying to define what RDO is (e.g. PvE, PvP, PvPvE, FFA), take a step back and see what R* has said is coming down the pike, I think it's obvious that they don't want to eliminate the adversarial aspect of the gameplay but simply try and help mitigate some of the griefing taking place. .....in other words, balance (which is really all that some of us have been asking for). In the end, we could end up with new and interesting aspects to the gameplay that benefit everyone. Let's see how it shakes out first.5 points

Its less about loving ' to watch their backs'. And just accepting it. Well that's the way I see it. It allows players really role play.. As a good, bad or evil player. And creates many good or bad game play moments. Griefing can really.. really be dealt a blow if R* would alter how stupidly easy it is to find and target players. Auto aim + Always on blips is the reason that griefers do what they do.. so easily. Also this game needs MORE butchers. Every region needs two butchers at the very least. This ^ won't stop griefing. But it sure as hell would make it much more rare. .3 points

I am adamant against griefing in PvEvP. I don't have issues with those who PvP. I don't think I ever said I was on a server of 31. Most players I have seen in one combat, was where a guy invited me and it was 14v2. Which is 16 players. The speculation of it nullifying griefers was a joke. Cause most of the old GTA folks will remember that every time they did something to fix griefing they would add something to make it actually easier. Edit: Though I got called in cause he felt like he was being griefed. When we started shooting back and we did. It was no longer griefing, we participated in PvP, even though the odds was stacked against us.2 points

I'd change the time it takes to switch modes to like 5 mins. It's very easy to run away and wait out that 30s. But you got a point there though. I guess it would work for those that like to shoot people just to shoot them. But I'm a noble pvper, I will never shoot someone in the back or if they've given me no reason to. And even then if I want to fight I am 50% of the time killing my own friends for fun (not maliciously). Not every pvper is the trigger happy kind. You got the ones like me who want a fair fight. Yeah I could go to one of the pvp modes, but often I like creating my own. Like I and some friends made a capture the flag pvp thing by which group can keep the train the longest. That was hella fun for me. On the other hand I'd suggest making the towns themselves like safe zones unless a mission is going (much like your camp doesn't protect you while you're on a mission). That would give people a little more peace of mind. I am dying to see how this bounty system will play out. Maybe some want to roleplay as an outlaw and try to evade capture/death. Others might want to take up a bounty as a mission and take out that person if they can.2 points

You'll probably find the person in charge on a Mango farm in Tahiti. Be careful when you get there, though; he may convince you there is a plan, and all that is needed is "a little time" and "some faith". Then they'll turn around and listen to the RDRO Youtubers, the community equivalent of Micah, and ruin it for everyone.2 points

I have killed griefers 300+ and I will just go on killing them. Now my bolt action rifle has explosive express rounds (one shot kill). The remedy for me, grind story and stranger missions till you get a very high rank. Then you go Equaliser on their asses. Nothing more beautiful in this game then watching a griefer fly out of the saddle and dead before they hit the ground. Then you run them down and kill them again.2 points

I cannot retrace the exact issue you are having, however the lvl1 horse bonding reset error is still in the game. This means that even when you have lvl4 bonding with the horse it resets you to lvl 1. When you visit a stable or basically re-log or after finishing a mission it then sets you back to the correct bonding again. This might have happened in the time you were playing although I haven't noticed that you were not awarded the points for riding etcetera during levelling the horse bonding. I assume it will work itselves out for you and you will just lvl up.2 points

Hi Dutch, First, welcome to the forums. Now that is out of the way, please realize that RDR2.org is an RDR fansite and not an official forum for R* or T2. We can't add anything to the game. If you would like to provide suggestions, submit bug reports, etc. to R*, I would suggest the following link: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e508922 points

@Tenti I merged your posts since we have a prohibition against double posting. Just thought I'd toss you a "heads-up" in case you wondered what happened to the second post. Just a reminder to everyone else; I did some thread cleanup and eliminated the double posts where I found them. I know we're all impassioned on this subject, and we often respond as quickly as we can when things get heated. So far everything in here is fine, content-wise, but please be mindful of double posting going forward. Thanks.1 point

I have been chased from Valentine to Lagras by a griefer. Knew he was following me to mess with me because I got off the road and ran up a mountain and across 2 large rivers and he was taking the exact same path. So I veered off to my camp (I was a lowbie at the time, so didn't have much in the way of defending myself) and when I got there he dashed up and tried to shoot me. Then tried to take my horse (had the settings set to me only) and when he couldn't take it tried to shoot it. I got on the game chat and just said "nice try retard". And he cussed me out and then rode away. I'm sure proximity will at least be within range enough to defend yourself, not like right on top of you or within easy auto aim range.1 point

Hi Dman and welcome. Read Dead Online is currently in beta. That beta is the online game. R* announced before RDR2s launch that RDO would be a work in progress (beta) and they have posted several status updates along the way. ......as well as patches, enhancements, etc. If you want to catch up on all the news, please follow this link and look for the articles pertaining specifically to beta updates, etc.: https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/tags/716 Also, please don't double post. I will close your duplicate thread in the other Q&A section.1 point

There's no doubt in my mind he was trolling. No one is that stupid if their intent is a friendly encounter. Personally, I would have laid him out for that and downed his horse if it were nearby but that's just me. I'm experiencing a lot more of these kinds of encounters lately. Usually low level players that (for whatever reason) feel they need to provoke fights with unwilling targets of opportunity. Lots of these "under skilled" types picking fights with the wrong people. I hope they get frustrated at some point and find another game to play. Maybe the upcoming changes R* has in mind will change their tune.1 point

If you read the articles about the working conditions at R* leading up to the release, it's an even more appropriate metaphor. R* Leadership IS Dutch; they have a plan, but don't do anything to actively further the plan, instead relying on the backbreaking work of a group of underlings to do all the heavy lifting while they sit in a separate tent/office daydreaming about Tahiti, mangoes, and listening to unsolicited advice from Dutch/Youtubers.1 point

What I can appreciate about another Wild West game is that they specifically stated "Our goals is improve that part (reference was to PvP), not care about PVE players. Game is not for them. they have literally nothing to do in a game and they will never will. It’ll never be a PVE game." That's honesty that I find refreshing and it let me know that wasn't a game for me. Rockstar should be just as honest and state what direction they want this game to take. Again, it's beta. I get that. But to say they are going to implement features to "discourage griefing" seems a little confusing. Are they acknowledging that griefing is wrong but only want to stop SOME of it? How much is too much? Why not get rid of it rather than "discourage" it if they find it wrong? Confusing. I bought into a game Rockstar touted as "a fun and fair environment for everyone" where I could "Explore the world solo or with friends" and I believe some others did too. Honesty is what is needed here. Just let gamers know what they are to expect from this game. I can play this game in what I consider full mode if they actually do something about the griefers--hunting, fishing and exploring the full game. If they don't do anything about the griefers, I can continue to play the partial game as I do mostly now, jumping in and out of the on call missions (which I do find enjoyable). Rockstar just needs to be honest about where they want this game to go. And they need to say it loudly. Hell, they could do that while the game is still in beta like that other game developer did. We all can speculate what we think Rockstar is going to do for days. But Rockstar needs to 'fess up on what the plan is and not be so wishy-washy about their stance on griefing. "a fun and fair environment for everyone" or not.1 point

I thought they did something over the weekend. I kept being put in lobbies with players 36 to 180. I rarely saw real low players. I would every now and than, but not often. My posse felt bad for this Level 6 player trying to solo a 3 bag mail run in Rhodes. So we posted up at the post office and shot anyone trying to steal his bags.1 point

I wouldn't call myself noble. I consider myself more of a BAD guy with a code..lol But that's the best thing about the game being FFA.. Its its allowing players to be noble, bad, good, evil or just deranged. Ya deranged.. LIke that one crazy fool riding around town last night filling wagons up with dead lawmen and dead players.1 point

I can see the merit in expanding the toggle cooldown time. 30 seconds was an arbitrary number, but there's definitely merit to pushing it out like that. The idea of deputizing players and allowing them to collect a bounty for capturing/killing someone with a bounty is very, VERY appealing. R* is going to have to be careful how the implement this system, though--the potential for griefers to bait folks into getting a bounty is going to be there (thinking back to how folks in THe Division used to be able to intentionally run into your field of fire to have you slapped with "Rogue" status when you were aiming an NPCs), so I hope they place limits on it, and not make something where some delta bravo with a bunch of cash walks into a sheriff's office and puts a bounty on another player to troll them. It has to be something that's triggered by the player's activity, like killing too many civilians, or more than two unarmed players in a five minute span. Again, those are arbitrary values, but the point is, they need to have clearly defined rules for deploying poses/bounties that aren't able to be easily exploited by players for greifing purposes.1 point

PVP needs lobby hosts with options (and private lobby options). And be able to choose what PVP game modes we want to play as the host. Where the host can choose to toggle off dead eye, passive cards, and block items/satchel use in the options in lobby. That's the only way PVP game modes will ever taken seriously or really enjoyed. Its like.. I need to find the guy who's in charge of RD O and give him a proper talking to in an Dutch Voice. At this point im starting to think the person in charge of RD O is not human. First off I'm not naturally into pvp. I used to be one of the pvers back in the day. I was so bad at pvp people that would get matched with me in pvp group modes would leave or kill themselves to get away from me lol. But at some point I decided to get better, and that's where my love of pvp began. It's an acquired taste for me. I expect rdr to be a wild west, keyword wild. There's no surprise element in toggle pvp when you know exactly who is gonna attack you. Then you'll have those people who will use the passive mode to get close to you then go into pvp mode and kill you. No I am not a griefer or bully. Hell, I yell at my friends and posse members all the time about killing people who aren't doing anything to us. I like having to determine who's friendly and who's hostile. I like looking over my shoulder. I like that challenge. I do however advocate for private lobbies. It's worked in other games I've played. I'm rank 99 now and I've gone through hell and back to get here. It feels good because I busted my ass to get this far. Also there is a way to hunt and do pve stuff with friends without being attacked. Not sure if they will ever patch it over, but for the time being it's a bandaid for everyone having trouble doing pve. (I'm at work so I may not have touched on everything you asked for)1 point

No ones running here mate.i fight back.im talking about the realism of the game being a shooting game and free roam.people can do what they like.mate take a look yourself how many people moaning and bitching because they got shot.and as for leaving lobby im saying if people find themselves outnumbered and cant get on in the game as they wish find another lobby.and no im not some bad ass cowboy i live in 2019 and have a job.its just a game for me to enjoy best i can.dont try think you can pick holes in my comments and think your clever with some smart ass comment back.my points are valid.and yes there were bullys in the wild west who did go shoot and kill all those indians for fun and there own people and not much has changed to this day.the world is full of bullys.killing and robbing.ruining many other peoples existence.the games real.as real as can be.look at history on a whole and many civlilisations killed others for fun and stole because they are bored of there own lives.and want more than they have.just like in the game i can look at a lobby and you can kind of tell if its a friendly lobby or pure chaos.maybe people want rockstar to make lobbys just for hunters to grind xp and money wihout the fear of others attacking and i get that its hard if your solo but they want peolple to team up and work as a team to defend each other and play the game as freely as possible.to many rules will make it not the wild west.even see some post about people saying a griefer should get jail time in game.like come on.get real.i never run unless those players outnumber me playing solo and its just waist all my time and supplies.if im with boys we deal bit of revenge for attacking us then move on as we do not attack anyone out of the blue.only if they try it with us.1 point

I bought the special offer and 1 time the max gold bar for 100 Euros. I get all the non- spenders thoughts and ideologies, but basically i can justify the spending to myself as both singleplayer and online have given me 250 hours of gameplay until now. Spent it mainly on camp things (different looks / fast travel and Cripps, the black arabian, and some clothing options and 2 pamphlets. I am not really too bothered by the whole MTX in RDO as for now it is mainly cosmetics and spending does not really give you an edge compared to other players.1 point

We don't know for sure where Rockstar is going with the game yet but, If no PvE servers, as long as Rockstar achieves what they said in their own promotional material for the game--"a fun and fair environment for everyone" while giving gamers the ability to "Explore the world solo or with friends"--I'd be happy with that. But I'd still prefer the PvE servers.1 point

That right there is definitely a problem and one I agree shouldn't be handled that way if that's the case. GB purchases should be retained on the account. It might be one thing if the items become locked again on a new lvl 0 character until a certain rank but even then that's not cool in my book. ....but we're talking about items that disappear for good? Definitely no bueno...1 point

I'm a lone wolf a majority of the time, unless I have a friend or two online. I'm not interested in gaming with random people because it's not that enjoyable unless you're lucky and find like-minded people. Online play for me is mostly just hunting and fishing, so using a posse isn't a necessity for me at the moment.1 point

I can respect your view on being a lonewolf. You seem like you appreciate the game for what it is. Not all about mindlessly shooting on site. I always run with a posse (The Born Brothers Gang) and its probably the main reason I even play. Recently, its been the most fun I can remember having in a game hands-down. We like to roleplay and immerse heavily and we play with free aim Only and never shoot friendly randoms on sight. I'd highly recommend free-aim if you value honor and skill which it seems like you do. Not only does it automatically give more immersion, but being able to say you are actually aiming rather than auto targeting in a fight just makes victory that much sweeter. (Until Hardcore free aim lobbies hopefully release like in RD1). While I'm not here to jump on your thread to recruit people, you'd be more than welcome to check us out. (thebornbrothers. com) Or just find us in game.1 point

No. Despite the "special offer" I refuse to give them money for a beta. It's the principal of the matter. It'd one thing if I was guaranteed that anything I spent my gold on would be retained, but if I decide to, say, delete my character, everything I paid for in gold is GONE. That's a problem for me. I'm not keen on renting digital clothing for my character.1 point

Last winter, Oreo released a limited edition with a cinnamon red-hot flavored filling that almost sent me into poverty. The only thing better is a soft ginger cookie that's still warm from the oven. My dreams are haunted by those Cinnamon Red Hot Oreos. When they released their "Holiday" edition with red filling his year, I almost cried with happiness. That cry turned into a wailing and gnashing of teeth when I found out the same red filling was no longer cinnamon based. I'm pretty certain my emails to Nabisco have put me on some sort of watch list as a result. I randomly stumbled across a thread in Reddit that said you could make a homemade Bilzzard with just ice cream and one of those big, heavy duty Kitchen Aid Mixers. As we have the mixer already (wedding gift), I tried it out, and I'll be damned if it wasn't better than a regular Blizzard from [Insert Franchise Frozen Dariy Provider Here]. Probably because I could load it with whatever I wanted. I chose Fireball and Nerds.1 point

Nice. I use a similar argument when people complain about violence in "The Punisher" and think it's gratuitous. The response is always along the lines of "He's 'The Punisher', not "The Kitten Cuddler". So your point is well taken. But I think what @YodaMan 3D is referring to is a more collaborative gameplay experience, like being in a group or posse and tackling missions together or raiding enemy hideouts as a group activity. I think we can all agree that the core gameplay mechanic that's available in the current beta is significantly lacking for things to do, apart from griefing, which is why I think it's so prevalent. People are already maxed out and have hundreds of thousands of dollars saved up, and they have NOTHING better to do at this point. The game needs the MMO equivalent of raids or gated instanced content that is immersive and takes an hour or more to complete, not a bunch of five minute missions to retrieve a boat, guard a wagon, or a quick firefight with some hobos in the woods. Let's have a prolonged siege of the forts, or robbing an armored and well defended train. Add a mission for 5+ players to defend one of the military forts or hold out for reinforcements in a prolonged, difficult engagement with a numerically superior enemy (not all unlike a horde mode, but with preset "win" conditions). There's so much potential for the missions in the online mode, and what we've seen from the beta has been, largely, lazy and uninspired. But boy are they sure happy to take our money when we buy gold bars! "Here's a new handkerchief, some sparkly suspenders, and a knock-kneed horse, now go out and replay the exact same content again!"1 point

I hate the fact that this feature is always prominent in the latest rockstar games (GTA Online you could barrel-roll then aim and shoot with no accuracy loss). Although I would love to see more features come to Online, sooner. Right now it's just a constant grind of either missions, events or some form of hunting to go towards unlocking cosmetics, guns and horses only. If you think about it, there could be so much more that online offers that already exist in the game; Selling/buying ranches/homes or cottages. (Farming and managing/trading livestock) Trading of horses. Buying/selling/trading of wagons and coaches. A bounty system to deter griefing (the more you kill players who haven't shot at you or shown any aggression towards you the higher your bounty and it stays with you regardless of lobby refresh, just an idea). Private lobbies which we can invite friends and other players to hunt and just mess around free of worries. Free-aim lobbies. Flesh out the online story mission more maybe with appearances from more side characters from the Van Der Linde gang (e.g. Lenny handing out bank robbery missions, Pearson sending you for herb (other food items) gathering missions or Javier giving you train robbing missions, etc). More ways to interact with the train. An OFFICIAL FIGHT CLUB (this is my dream for online) where clubs can be formed with daily/weekly/monthly leaderboards and events to compete with other clubs, bets can be made, griefers can't ruin it and different locations/setting each time. Ability to sell or trades guns that you don't want anymore (the ability to remove any gun from weapon wheel and store in some sort of gun locker in your camp). PLEASE PLEASE more saved outfit slots (upgrading horse satchels giving ability to store more saved outfits). The ability to be a Hired gun. When activated, players in lobbies are able to see a list of available Hired guns and based on your stats/experience/honour can hire you for protection by an hourly/minute rate if they require only temporary protection without wanting to invite to posse. More horse breeds with more choices of coats to buy and more mane/tail styles. To be able to trade and actually sell horses, not just discard them) PASSIVE MODE and maybe a Passive Hunter mode to be able to only use the bow and other hunting weapons but not able to lock onto players and npc's, only animals. It should be noted that some of these features could already be planned for release soon, who knows. Let me know if I've missed any more ideas (which i'm sure there's plenty more).1 point
