OMG you ruined everything! Next thing you're going to do is divulge the panther spawn East of Catfish Jackson's, just off the road, inside the trees, usually at night!4 points

Meh, I looked at it like, new poster, very excited about the game getting started, we have all been there, it depends your age, experience with forums, etc,.. I didnt think he was being arrogant per say just excited and wanting to fit in and be part of our community, I welcome the enthusiasm. I think his heart was in the right place.2 points

𤣠What, suddenly in the last 24 hours EVERYBODY on red dead is out hunting alligators N of St Denis because of a post I made on this forum?? I don't think so buddy, that area has always been very common knowledge. And a lot of players, myself included, have become a bit bored of just hunting the crap out of that area, so I never see it that busy anymore. There are a few hunting areas where I'm normally guaranteed to score a rare animal that I wouldn't necessarily divulge here but that area is definitely not one of them.2 points

I thought I'd give you all an update, I put in a ticket with rockstar and had to send them a video clip of what was happening, they told me to permenantly disband the posse and gave me $200 in game money to create a new one and it worked perfectly and haven't had an issue since, this was about 3 days ago. So kudos to rockstar for being responsive and helping me fix the issue. But I'd definitely recommend that if the same problem happens to anyone else then contact rockstar, hopefully they'll be able to kind of refund the money rather than people just disbanding and losing money. But thank you all for the advice, I literally would never have thought about contacting rockstar directly š2 points

REPORT THESE PLAYERS TO MICROSOFT AND ROCKSTAR. I know it takes a few minutes of your playtime but they are destroying hours of your playtime. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM FOR ALLOWING IT TO CONTINUE. It has to be a conscientious and United effort2 points

I can't speak for others but I didn't imply his intentions were anything else. I also didn't think my response was cold but simply honest. I do think he was being a little cocky as it carried throughout his post (not just the thread title). If pointing that out make some feel I was being rude, then for that, I apologize. It's just that when someone implies that they are here to save the day, you should expect that you might catch a little extra flak if those ideas don't measure up to the hype. btw, I'm one of the most inviting people around when it comes to welcoming new members as I'm always monitoring and responding on the "Introduce Yourself" thread, answering questions, etc. I'm not trying to be rude to the OP and I have nothing against him. I simply think his anti-griefing idea is severely flawed. oh, and welcome to the forums @armaggeddon.1 point

Thanks for the offer Buddy. I too am retired and would be pleased to join you when you are fit again - soon I hope. I bought a headset today but have been too busy (snooker night Thursday) to use it. Lots of questions. Here's another. The emoticons or whatever they are seem very cumbersome to work.In the story mode I could exchange cheery 'Hi Pardner' in an instant but if I've got it right the online equivalent takes so long the passing chap has well passed. Maybe there's a short cut. Yes I'm on PS4 Pro.1 point

This is the best attitude to have.. I mean, its really just a game. The ones that annoy me the most are the ones that take a cheap shot at me. Then I end up killing them.. And they just keep coming back. Like relentless rage stalkers. And the more I kill them, the angrier they get. Its a never ending cycle. What would be great is a MERCY parlay that can be forced onto player that you kill 3 times. That would send most RAGE stalkers into a complete melt down. And...Blips are still a problem. While the blips are great at long distance to prevent hostile players from targeting players easily. Close range blips still exist. Blips should only show when shooting and players are in certain range of that playing shooting. Theres no reason why anyone should see blips of random players for no reason.1 point

Hate to burst anyone's hopes here, but the skinning tree has been a part of my camp since day one. Mine usually has a pelt or two underneath it, if I recall correctly. I use the Adventurer theme. I do hope they have some intended use in the future as R* expands on camp utilization. Maybe using it to skin a 2* pelt gives it a chance of it becoming a 3* pelt! Haha... fat chance.1 point

LOL you guys are funny, there is NEVER a shortage of gators, EVER, just turn around and ride away and go back, BOOM! gators everywhere and 3 stars too. Rockstar games has a reputation for that, just ride out of frame, and go back, the animals generally re spawn quickly, I go to shady belle for my gators, they are alwasy there, along with boars, birds coons, deer, fish, etc.. you name it plus indian tobacco, yarrow, thyme, and sage, there is even a panther near by. Anyway dont worry about posts, everyone knows how to get to an area and have it to yourself. If you do not know this, then here it is. Spawn into Tumbleweed, fast travel to Rhodes, now the swamps are yours alone, pretty much, just spawn in far from where you intend to play.1 point

About messaging, I`ve told some to "take a pill" or "chill down kid" to see if they are griefers or just a bit high on blood sugar. While most ignores, some replys ans apologizes. Had a longer chat with some east-european guy who showed to be nice. btw, I have seven(!) different microsoft-accounts & charecters, wery different types. If one of them ends up in a mess I`ll just jump to one of the others. One of my characters is a younger female, and this character gets picked on a lot moore than the others. Poor girl, she is named Molly O`Shea btw. Was up in Valentine the other night to see the butcher. Played as my norwegian woodsman, tall silent type. As usual, there was shooting, streets was full of dead bodys, like a warscene. I did my things and went down towards the postoffice when I was shot by one of the four red dots. Respawned and collected my post but since I had some spare time I decided to give those griefers a little paypack. The woodsman has only a (Krag-Joergensen norwegian patent 1887) bolt action rifle so I had to pick my ground wisely. The griefers had shot their way out of Valentine and continued their party near Dakota river by now. I approached them, hided behind a rock and shot down two-three of them in a close range battle. While they recovered and regrouped I jumped my horse to find a good place to meet them. Crossed the field back up to Valentine until I was out of range even for the bolt action, and then when they came up against me I could just pick them, one by one. As I expected, those troublemakers was armed for a close range fight. Felt a bit good there and then but I won`t let such troublemakesrs influence my gaming too much. Took a fast-travel to Saint Denis aand had a drink there before I went to bed.1 point

Putting a 30 minute timer on how often you can kill another player is moronic and giving players the ability to loot cash rather than gain XP from the other players they've killed won't reduce griefing in the slightest, it would undoubtedly have the opposite affect. I'm not saying this to be mean, I say this because if I were a Rockstar employee sifting through various suggestions of this nature I would start to think that a large majority of the RDO community doesn't know what their talking about or what's good for RDO. I believe Rockstar should stop making poor design choices and listen to the RDO community but I can't blame them for ignoring us if they receive multiple suggestions which tail off and imply the author is simply typing thoughts as they pop into his head with no structure or reasoning.1 point

I would advise not to accept posse invites most are grievers, a mic is a must to communicate, don't bother about trying to get three star pelts I've got nearly everything in the game & still got 31.000 bucks without worrying about 3* of any animal, loot every cabin you can get in, hunt on the marsh shoot anything that moves, go up north in the snow to earn not many players venture up there. Good luck1 point

Change your MTU setting in the Network settings from the default 1500 to around 800 - 820. That should put you in a session by yourself or perhaps just a few folks. Works about 90% of the time for me and you usually stay in the session by yourself for quite a while if not the entire session. Even then, if the numbers don't grow, most that are in there with you I find are usually doing the same. .....just doing their business.1 point

I can't believe nobody has set up a black market for recipe pamphlets in the world of red dead - the fences charge obscene amounts of money for these things and the recipes are ridiculously simple. How do they get away with it? A piece of paper telling me to take a knife to the tips of my bullets to make split points in exchange for more than 100 platinum pocket watches!!1 point

Use whatever term you like, but Iām talking about things like when I have to go piss downstairs Iāll go into defensive mode far away from any action and hide myself in a cluster of trees. When I come back one guy suddenly lassoes me for a drag, the other guy opens fire on me while being dragged, and the third guy shoots my horse. Or the people who stand outside a general store waiting for some to come by and hitch their horse so they can shoot them in the back of the head, etc., etc., etc. If thatās what you enjoy doing to other players and having done to you, indeed the highlight of your night, I donāt know what to say. I ride around in free roam in offensive mode and Iām wary of everyone and always ready to defend myself. Thatās a whole different story. This other stuff I call griefing for lack of a better term and that seems to be the label thatās been adopted by the community. Thereās no reason for it. Most mature people frown upon it and wish it would be addressed. edit: Add to that the possies who stand next to the stranger mission icons knowing that as soon as you complete the mission successfully, the game will respawn you right there next to the station with no gun at the ready, no horse, and the three posse members can then immediately blast you with shotguns. No chance whatsoever to defend yourself. You respawn again and if you whistle for your horse, they kill it. If you donāt want to call them griefers, call them cowardly a-holes. They donāt love fighting or love hostile interactions or anything of that nature. They are there for no other purpose than to ruin other peopleās games and try to piss people off. Of course they donāt consider it a problem, they are classic internet trolls.1 point
-
Rockstar is not only aware of the griefers, Rockstar encourages them. The same way Rockstar set it up so that I log off in Defensive mode but when I log back in, I'm automatically in Offensive mode. Griefers/bullies are fairly common in free roam right now, that's why some players still glitch solo/passive lobbies so we can avoid them. If you find griefers/bullies to be a problem, Rockstar is to blame. Rockstar set their new hunting mission mode up so that weapons and offensive attacks against other players are disabled. They can turn the griefers/bullies off and on as they please. Rockstar just doesn't want to.1 point

I didnāt get that impression, and given the idea of the honor system, I got the sense that a player was able to choose their role (I could be wrong). However, I see your point. If they end up implementing some type of role system (good guy/bad guy) maybe then it would make sense for a banking system as well. Either way it would be cool to have a stranger mission in which you and your posse either has to rob a bank (ie James-Younger gang at Northfield or the Dalton gang at Coffeyville) OR be tasked to stop the bank robbery.1 point
-
I don't want my money to be looted from me by a griefer, that's just incentive for them to grief even more than they already do. But having a bank to use could be a thing. Going along similar lines of realism as the hair growth system. However, since the game is billed as the players all being outlaws, would outlaws use banks? Still a neat idea to think about.1 point
-
While some of the OPās ideas may require some tweaking to implement, or may be far fetched, you failed to expand on why the OPās ideas are bad and as a member of the gaming community he āhas no idea whatās good forā him.1 point

People often wonder why Rockstar don't heed much of the advice they receive through their website, if I were a Rockstar employee sifting through suggestions something like this would convince me that the community has no idea what's good for them.1 point

I agree. Im using the panther one on my black white MFT and it doesnt look too good. I use it for stats tho its obvious why. I would love to be able to change the color of it. Good suggestion !1 point

Thanks for helping in support of trying to fix this particular issue. I hope this gets resolved soon, if not, maybe once the PlayStation 5 comes out, the game will run smooth as butter if we upgrade. Not sure if they are going to fix this issue, but if they do, I'll be very much satisfied. I've been bothering R* about this for a while now.1 point
-
This is a pretty known issue for the regular PS4, I'm curious if it happens, but you barely notice. Some people like myself pay very close attention to detail. I've tried Red Dead Redemption 2 on my friends regular and the game still lags in the cities and towns.1 point

I actually thought about that the other day in regard to griefing. I have a mic but donāt use it, I mute everyone, and I donāt even know how to send or receive messages. All I hear are in game sounds. That makes me an extremely boring person to grief. Itās like trying to kick a rock to get a reaction out of it - pointless. I either respawn, hunker down, and kill them if they get in range, or I press charges and move on if I have no time for them. They might get an initial cheap shot, but if they want to keep it going theyāll have to spend an hour eating my bullets. No fun at all for them and they quickly move on. Thereās no problem using a mic and many people wouldnāt play with out one. But just treat them like mosquitoes. You donāt get mad at a mosquito if it bites you - you either slap it dead or let it fly away. Treat them the same way because theyāre just trolls looking to get under your skin. Good advice above.1 point

Hi and welcome to the forums. My suggestion would be to never message someone or speak to them through chat with vulgarity, insults, etc. regardless of what leads to the exchange, if they report you, MS or R* have to act on the evidence they have. ......and being griefed is never an excuse for breaking the rules. You say you couldn't leave but actually you can. You can change sessions. You can also block people if you're on PS4(I think there's something similar on XB1), show yourself as "offline" to help prevent people from following you between games and so on. When you engage griefers like this, that is exactly what they want. ......to get under your skin. In this case, they did exactly that and once they know that, they won't stop. I'm level 70 and I rarely get griefed and even less so with the new features. .,...but then again, I also use them to my advantage. btw, I had to remove the screen shot as we don't allow naming and shaming on these forums. I'm also moving this to the main RDO forum as this thread has more to do with a topic than an introduction.1 point
