Um.... what? You find being robbed as harrassment? The long distance delivery is LITERALLY DESIGNED to give people a chance to rob you, the risk you run for trying to make the most money. Its not harrassment, its not griefing, its LITERALLY what was intended by the developers. If you dont like big meanieheads taking all of your goodies, perhaps you should go play Flower Picking Simulator or something. This game is BUILT on the concept of being an outlaw. There is zero room for debate there, it is FACT. What you do to glitch into a solo lobby, is exactly that. A glitch and a cheat. You are cheating other players out of the opportunity to rob you, and you are deliberately exploiting loopholes to get yourself into your own server. You also WAY exaggerate the pvp aspect. It is not CONSTANT PVP as you claim. Ive been killed twice in 100+ hours in online by people i didnt start crap with first. Know what i did? I fought back and had fun, i didnt whine that someone pushed me down and stole my icecream. Have fun in your glitched, empty worlds, showing that AI who is boss. Jeez, dude.3 points

I was making a Trader local delivery last night, from Heartlands down to the one low down on the shoreline, down the grassy slope. I had just got to the point where I could hear gunfire (bandits were attacking the dropoff), when another player appeared and lasso'd me off my wagon (despite being local apparently people can still do that). He hogtied me, then shot me. No 'press charges' or 'parlay' buttons. I respawned, raced back to the wagon, could see him standing by it, he shot my hat off (thank you, Never Without One), I returned fire and shot him dead (he was lowish level, 27 IIRC, I had a Lichfield Repeater with high velocity ammo equipped), ordinarily I'd leave the wagon there to deal with the bandits but as this dude is out there I leap on and race it to the dropoff, but have to clear the bandits/protect the recipients to get my money. So I equip twin LeMats and get stuck in, then suddenly I'm dead again - dude is sniping me from a ridge with a Rolling Block. I respawn, but have to continue the fight from behind cover to protect against the griefer (I don't think he can get my goods on a local run so I'm just sport at this point). Fortunately I win, get my $500 (phew) and it's all okay. But to be clear - I never got either press charges or parlay. I'd have used both. The system doesn't work, so protection is an illusion. We're on our own, either solo or posse. It's like the Wild West out there.2 points

I think the different lobby options are a ways off, if they ever come. As it is, Rockstar is being (painfully) slow with what they add to the game... I think this is deliberate (if frustrating). I think maybe they learned some lessons from their efforts in GTA and want to be a little more careful and deliberate in how they shape and grow RDR. This can be a good thing in the long game, if annoying in the short term (between updates). I can be patient for the content updates myself if it means in two years time I’m not being dive bombed by flying, dynamite shitting unicorns while trying to make my delivery (or maybe herding my cattle to the market?) because of poorly thought out, hastily added and unbalancing content... But this is all speculation on my part based on observations so far and nothing else...2 points

Personally, I have yet to even turn on defensive mode. I frequently run long deliveries solo. I act like a drunken eccentric ass when I’m in populated towns. I wander i to people’s camps, help myself to beer and stretch out by the fire while they’re there without a word of explanation. I don’t go out of my way to avoid anyone, whatever colour their dot is. Despite going out of my to NOT take measures to avoid problems, I very rarely get shot at. It’s been like this ever since the proximity blip update. Before that, it was much more common, it still far from what I’d call a problem. Just the odd roaming group of clowns chasing down the nearest blip and griefing.2 points

Exactly. All these childish "extras" simply ruins the games autencity, makes it into a kind of western-on-acids game for psycopats. Just like rockstar intended2 points

First, please forgive me if I am missing something. But, to my knowledge there is no way to perform a mercy kill on an animal that has been shot but is only slowly bleeding out. If you do nothing, the animal will eventually die, but only after it has lingered for several minutes, moaning and thrashing, and your upset wife and daughter leave the room and don't want to speak to you anymore because of your heartless cruelty and lack of compassion for pixels. And I have to admit, I hate waiting around and listening to the slow death, as well. Or, you can shoot them again or stab them to finish them off quickly and end the "horror". But my experience has been that either option almost always results in a decrease in the quality of the pelt or carcass afterward. Like hell, am I letting that happen. So, is it just me? Am I missing some method of Mercy Killing that would keep the women in my home from looking at me as if I am a monster and at the same time preserve the quality of the kill? If so, please share. My marriage may depend on it. If not, has anyone seen anything from R* as to why it isn't a feature in the game? It seems to me to be something that should have been included from the beginning. Thoughts?1 point

I probably wouldn't because of what @The_Liquor said about people being sneaky but for me, it depend on how close they were to us, etc. I will say that I always found it stupid that you didn't have the radar available while fishing. Back when the app still worked for blips, I would use that instead.1 point

For defending.... Posse up. This can't be stressed enough for long deliveries. Few things in this game are more beneficial than playing with a posse of friends. If you're alone, consider local deliveries instead or accept the fact that there's a good chance you will never make it to your destination. .....more reward = more risk. Simple as that.1 point

It is deliberate. R* went over their reasoning for the slow release of new content in a relatively recent interview: https://www.vg247.com/2019/09/27/red-dead-online-future-heists-villain-lawmen-business/ There is zero chance in my mind of RDO ever becoming anything so over the top as some of the things you describe using GTAO as an example. .....at least if we go by R*'s vision they have laid out for us. if you haven't read it already, that article provides some interesting insight and (for me) some reassurances that they will be taking RDO in the direction I would like it to go.1 point

No problem and no offense taken. I've already been over most of what you had said with Kean way back when. Bottom line, the two "sides" are here and will not go away. When the subject of griefing gets brought up, the discussion is supposed to take place, as far as I'm concerned. And, though I play much less now, as long as I can glitch the game, I'll play it.1 point

If they're holding a fishing rod and the wet end is in the water, I'm going to give them a pass. If they're standing there lurking for no obvious reason, then they might be dying of lead poisoning.1 point

I know. It's the shocking truth at the centre of this game. You have been warned! I thought that, too. Almost a very expensive lesson - it does mean that local deliveries aren't as radically safer than distant deliveries as I had thought. Indeed, I'd almost rather lose to the distant opponents; at least they stand to gain and are engaged in actual gameplay. This dude just wanted to ruin my day. Given I had no horse with me so limited weaponry (repeater and two LeMats), he nearly managed it! Agreed. By the time I had seen off the bandits and got my horse back the coward had skipped town. Guess he realised that now that I had access to rifles, too, he would be up against someone who could shoot back and didn't fancy his chances. It's like the Wild West out there! Guy must have been fuming. He'll get over it once he realises that the roles give guaranteed riches even with the odd moment like that.1 point

I read somewhere that they had glitched it up out in the online menu screen.1 point
-
Thanks, I did think of trying via one of the physical points but was too lazy to seek one out and ride to it. 😂 When I've done it in the past and it would work I used the Online menu (rather than the quick join) but I didn't think it should matter what joining method you used.1 point

@SimonTemplar 😮I always thought you were put in "semi-transparent" mode when doing a local delivery so players couldn't mess with you even if they tried? That sucks. People pulling this sort of sh*t should be forced to stay on the server until you say you are done with any retribution you see fit!1 point

Yea...... tell me about it He was stupid enough to try to shoot him from few meters distance.......1 point

Glitching solo lobbies has effects on other players. As it was said and really cant be said in a more understandable manner is that by doig so you gain advantage in: - The amount of gold you can accumulate in time - The amount of XP you can accumulate by for ex. gathering for madame Nazar using an internet map with spawns and rotations while there is no one else there to bother you. The animal spawns are adjusted to the hunting role. In my view they didnt break the animal spawn system but they forgot to do the same while in missions. They had to adjust the animal sawns so that there would not be ridiculous amounts of gold earned via trader role. It has to be balanced in some way and they did that by decreasing the spawn a little.1 point

Since every patch resets or change my very fine tuned graphical settings it's a pain in the butt to change back all the time, but this table have proven to help a bit finding the sweet spot for me. Now able to run mostly 45-55 FPS in 4K. All setting on Ultra except from the the ones in the table with the highest % change, those I've set to 1 step under the highest possible. Also AA is TAA Medium with sharpening maxed and added GeForce Experience Sharpening at 65%. Motion Blur OFF (of course). Tested first by setting everything to LOW, then each setting upped to the MAX and tested one by one to see the difference in % of FPS. Settings with a * requires a restart. It will likely be an issue of your posse being filled or your friend being part of too many. If you know for certain that this is not the case, then it can be an issue with the game and that is worth reporting to Rockstar.1 point

To be honest, I never thought griefing was as bad as some made it out to be in the beginning. .....IF you followed the advice many of us were gladly providing, using the app, etc. .....but yeah, even much less so now especially given the options and restrictions / punishments R* has levied against trolls. IMO, there are far less excuses to be griefed but again, folks still need to use some common sense, situational awareness, some basic tactics and the tools made available by R* to help mitigate the problem.1 point

He is currently being sought out for the known murders of several men, as well as the disappearance of a U.S. marshal sent to bring him in to justice. A few words of warning: rumor has it that Borodin keeps wild grizzlies captive and - much like his bears - is highly territorial, dangerous and short of temper. "Yukon" Nik and his entourage were last seen in the area south of Strawberry, near Fort Riggs. In addition to a handsome monetary reward, players who turn in this week's Legendary Bounty will also receive 3 Special Snake Oil and 10 Big Game Meat within 24 hours of completion. Wheeler, Rawson & Co. has plenty of new permanent clothing hitting the catalogue this week, including the Chumley Flat Cap, Salcedo Shirt, Crutchfield Suspenders, a dapper pair of Dress Shoes and the Cardenas Poncho. Ladies looking to expand their wardrobe can purchase the Ballard Jacket, Aguirre Boots and Goodale Shirtwaist while gentleman can pick up the dapper Fulbright Coat. You can complete the look with the new tints of the Bandana and Trimmed Bandana that are on offer. Collectors looking for opportunities to pad their wallets can complete the Bowman's Collection by returning the Flint Arrowhead, Raw Arrowhead and Agate Arrowhead to Madam Nazar (or mail it via the nearest Post Office) and earn themselves a pretty penny in the process. And sureshot players looking for a fresh challenge need look no further: this week's Featured Free Aim Series pits two squads against each other in a heated Team Shootout. Traders would be wise to take advantage of new limited-time offers, including a 50% bonus on Goods delivery using Small or Medium wagons, plus discounts that take 25% off Trading & Hunter Wagons and a 50% discount on Trader Resupply orders. And all players can decorate their campsites with 40% off everything sold by Wilderness Outfitters. PlayStation Plus members who play Red Dead Online before November 25 will receive the Page of Pentacles, Knight of Pentacles, Queen of Pentacles and King of Pentacles Tarot Cards, free of charge. Red Dead Online players who connected their Social Club account with Twitch Prime can still claim the Bounty Hunter License for free, plus they can take an additional 10% off the discounts listed above (to ensure access to future benefits, make sure to visit Twitch Prime and sign up). Stay tuned to the Newswire for more Red Dead Online news in the coming weeks, and head over to the Social Club Events page for all current special events, bonuses and discounts. Yes, my experience is that you basically have to be a murder victim to get the option to press charges. Given it doesn't achieve anything anyway, I just shoot the bar stewards deader than dead and don't bother with the legal stuff.1 point

Nevermind....restart solved the problem. To be fair though generally speaking you don't have to restart your PC after a game update....1 point

Well, the more money you have, the more ammo you can buy, the better horses you can buy, the better your ability cards can be, the more tonics your can have... Bottom line, the more advantage you hold over other players wether or not you personally choose to use it or not... And yes, I do find all sorts of glitching distasteful. The main reason I’ve given up on GTA V online is because I found the only way to get ahead in its current state (from a low level and broke) is to cheat your way into a solo Lobby to run your businesses. I flat out refuse to play that way and would much rather not play at all.1 point
-
Sorry, the glitching solo lobbies isn’t even the biggest gripe I have with your stance... But it’s continually calling the legitimate conflict built into the game griefing and harassment. If you don’t want to take the risk, take the smaller reward. If you do take the risk and someone gets you, they’re not out just to harass you or grief. I’m not saying there isn’t griefing in the game, because there is. And yes, your cheating does have an effect on others. It’s giving you an unfair advantage in receiving larger rewards without taking the risks in the game... Kind of like stealing money from the Monopoly bank to cover rent because you feel like the other players are harassing you when you land on Boardwalk and are asked to pay up.... Not to mention, if people keep exploiting glitches, developers spend extra time trying to address glitches and less time developing new content...1 point
-
You are robbing people of the opportunity that they extended to you when making their deliveries the right way. It is cheating the system and against the spirit of the game.1 point
-
Quite possibly. Pigs are tough critters. I’ve seen deer dash about that far with fatal wounds to the vital organs. But most things really don’t live long with giant holes in their heart, lungs and major arteries. It really does come down to accurate shot placement. But never in my life have I seen any critter with a blown out boiler room moan and squirm as long as they do in RDR. Then again, I tend to (like most sane people) use a shotgun for flying birds and never once have I seen anyone lasso a deer and try to kill it with their knife (those things can kick you and gore you to death quite easily if you get that close to a live one....1 point
-
Did you shoot back and hit them? I've noticed that if I'm riding along and, bam, I'm down from a headshot, I get the option to press charges. But if there's a bit of a fight beforehand and I cause damage to them before I'm killed, I don't get the option. Could be wrong. Just what I've noticed.1 point

Honestly, the end game becomes kind of boring when all the gang ambushes are over with and you're left with mostly just camps and hideouts. I wish there were more ambush points and random ambushes that would continually respawn.1 point

"Clearing path" 😂😂 Yes. Exactly. don't understand what they are thinking. i was fishing alone & suddenly get killed from this group. I respawn & pull out my dynamite arrow & shoot the wagon. Then realized they were delivering wagon mission. Well, that is what they get for messing up for no reason.1 point

Now, I'm not really familiar with the whole posse system as I usually just play with 1-2 friends in RDO and I'am usually joining theirs, but I do know there are limitations on the # of posses a person can join, etc. that can cause issues. However, is it possible they are engaged in a task, activity or even a mission when you do this?1 point
-
I think there is a line between legitimate conflict and griefing... where exactly that line is I suppose is a little subjective, but in my mind, killing someone fishing (for example) for absolutely no reason doesn’t make you an old west outlaw, just an annoying psychopath. However, trying to steal my delivery? Or steal my 3* cougar? Maybe take my bounty (if they ever fix that system)... all legitimate conflict and desired...1 point

I had a slightly depressing moment last night, and then one which made me chuckle. 1) I was (recklessly, admittedly) sitting on my horse studying a map right by a main thoroughfare. Map on full screen. I get a vibration from the controller, exit the map, and find that some random passing player has pulled me from my horse (hence the vibration) but now rather than attacking me he is sticking a knife in my horse! I pick myself up, draw twin LeMats and let him have it (not very creative, should have lasso'd him but I was surprised and worried about the horse). Horse survived, he's dead, all fine but what's up with that?!? Who does that??? I rode off, didn't see him again, I'm level 96, he's level 15, don't know what makes some people tick. We had no previous. 2) I was out collecting up on the cliffs north of Annesburg, using the metal detector. I hear hooves and gunfire below me, and there's a player with a bounty on his horse, being chased by gang members. He has been unhorsed, the bounty is lying in the middle of the road and he's outnumbered. Looked like a sticky situation, so I drew a repeater and took out the bandits. Then holstered my gun and tipped my hat to him. He turned to face me, holding a gun, there was a loooong moment when he was deciding whether I was a threat, so should he shoot me. He chose not to, eventually, so picked up his bounty and rode off to hand it in (he must have had a timer, obviously), and I went back to digging up a necklace. Was fun seeing the dilemma he had, trying to read my intentions. Well, it made me chuckle. And counted as my good turn for the day.1 point
-
I’ve met him three times. The first time I gave him something, the next I shot him and dumped him in the river I was camped next to, the last time I tied him up and tossed him off of a cliff......so my experiment of killing him meant nothing as he is a stubborn son of a gun. He actually kind of creeps me out. I like the guy stealing beer more. 😀1 point
