Online mysteries and other strange sights
Kean_1 replied to Redstaski's topic in RDR2 - TeamUp (PS4)'s Our Forum
.....hhmmmmm. It's been a while so I don't recall that one but nice find. Same sweater too from the drawing. 😄 -
I would submit your feedback to R* directly so they can check it out. Personally, I have not seen this happen as I had used the parley feature while the rest of my team attacked but then again, I only needed to use it twice in my life. I would still let R* know though: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=addb2b0b

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they have components ready to add to RDO already. Along with the economy and the stability, I'm sure balancing was a part of what they wanted to get right in the foundation of the game first before introducing new elements. I tend to think things will come in stages though as to not cause more issues than they can deal with at one time. I have no doubt that they have a lot planned to go into RDO but as to when, no one knows yet. R* has a way of announcing things at the 11th hour though so stay tuned. I would also encourage folks to continue providing their feedback to them to help try to make the game better. Make your voice heard with any suggestions, complaints, bug reports, etc.: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=addb2b0b

help! (mainly registered to ask this question).
Kean_1 replied to jasngii's question in Questions & Answers
Sucks that R* isn't more forthcoming with details like this. -
I don't see the correlation at all to be honest. The GTAV PC version didn't come out when console released either (it came 6 months later IIRC). .....and even if a PC version never arrives for RDR2, I still don't think that's indicative of a plan for crossplay. Yoda is right..... They are currently exploring crossplay in a limited capacity right now. Not saying it never will happen but I doubt it has anything to do with PC not being announced. ......yet.

Why does it seem to be almost always night in RDO?
Kean_1 replied to DDrfire04's question in Questions & Answers
I don't see a problem either. The day / night cycles are continuous and similar to the main campaign and GTAV/O. it's not "real time" nor is it dependent on individual players. If you join a session, it will be the time that it is for everyone else. -
Happened again twice last night with 2 of my friends in tow. We were able to get a few repossession missions in without the threat of any other players ruining our progress.

Just Curious; What Level Are You & How Long Have You Been Playing?
Kean_1 replied to KylesDad7's topic in Red Dead Online
lvl 34 IIRC and been playing since launch. However, I only started really trying to level up by playing side missions, etc. so the last 10 or so were done over a short period. Now I usually level up once or twice during a session. -
I agree. If they want to try and make my life miserable I'll do the same to them if I feel so inclined (especially with a posse), up to the point where I feel they've got the message. Sometimes that's them simply running away, parleying or (typically) quitting the session. I would never go as far as to follow someone to another session though. ....or even be bothered to do so. I will add them to my block list however. Mind you, this is what I would do to someone who purposely tries to troll me. I don't do this to those who engage me in missions where it's appropriate or what I feel may have been by accident, a misunderstanding or my own fault for doing something that may have seemed provocative. Giving someone a taste of their own medicine is nowhere near the same IMO.
-
I agree, some of the names are enough to warrant a block IMO. ....and like I said, once I go into their profile to block them, there are sometimes remarks in their description of themselves that only serve to backup my suspicions that they probably like to troll other players. One description actually said something to the effect that "if you're here, I probably slit your throat". .....likely meaning that you are there to block them because they probably trolled you. Yeah, that one was a no-brainer. 😄
-
I think a lot of those players didn't realize that there were advanced options in the character creation tools either. I know I didn't until someone mentioned it in that original thread complaining about how characters looked. I felt the same way at first. I ultimately recreated mine using the extra options and found it pretty versatile. .....not saying there isn't room for improvement but it's not as bad as as some make it out to be.

@Diss No one can say for sure either way. The fact they have not so far is no indication that they never will. This is a beta and as such, it makes sense to me that they would hold off on the introduction of certain components (like other modes / features) until they can deliver a solid foundation to build on. It also makes sense to me that they would not want to break up sessions so that they could stress test the servers especially over the holidays. Just so you are aware, there was information uncovered my data miners back in October regarding placeholders, etc. in the app that pointed to several currently unannounced features that may be arriving at some point. .....including “private sessions” and “seamless PvE (player vs. environment).” There were also placeholders for vehicles and properties. R*'s last update to the community mentioned anti-griefing measures being worked on as a result of community feedback. ....so I would suggest you breath easy as there is a lot more to come even though we not sure what all of that might be. You're right that invite-only sessions were a part of GTAVO and personally, I hope they include them in RDO as well (with a few modifications). The good news is that griefing is nowhere near the level of GTA and it appears R* is willing to do something about the current problem. I would also suggest that you add your suggestions / feedback on the site they have provided: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=addb2b0b The community input is very valuable at this point in development and they are at least listening.

Yeah, I always like how my horse just freezes when a cougar attacks and then sometimes throws me off. What I also don't like is the camera view which seems to lock in to these predators when I'm trying to run away. Is there a menu setilting I'm missing? When running from a pack wolves I sometimes find myself fighting the view control and can't see where I'm heading.
-
That's why I said relatively rare as I do know they spawn in particular areas. The occurrence we experienced that session was unique as we hadn't had that many attacks in such a short period or even in a session.
-
Cougars are relatively rare in RDO and you might be attacked once in one of their areas. .....but a couple nights ago our party was attacked 3 times in one session. It was wild. I also got mauled by a grizzly 3 times in a row. ......the same one. A party member wanted to try and take it down with arrows to get the hide. .....bad move. It was a slaughter until we had enough and opened up.
-
Yeah, maybe something like the one in "The War Wagon" movie starring John Wayne and Kirk Douglas.
-
I thought that too. In fact, I'm going to go ahead and send my feedback now to R* because in either case, I think slugs should do more damage. Even the level requirement makes no sense given that it really only increases range and accuracy IIRC. My Lancaster is a more effective weapon up close based on stats.
-
.....here's the list of vehicles that was leaked back then that I mentioned as well in case you missed it. Obviously, we know all the horses now since the beta already released since then: https://rockstarintel.com/red-dead-online-vehicles-leak-exclusive That site has been pretty spot on with their info IME but we'll have to see.
-
There was news from RockstarINTEL.com back in October where data miners had found code for property placeholders. The assumption that properties will at some point be included is based on those placeholders. This is true for the private lobbies and vehicles (e.g. wagons): https://rockstarintel.com/as-expected-youll-be-able-to-buy-properties-in-red-dead-online
-
I wouldn't be surprised if this is added later. Once properties are introduced, this may also be something included.
-
What sucks about shotgun slugs is that they don't increase the level of damage the weapon does. ......unlike Express ammo.
-
Spawned twice next to grizzly bear and a couple times next to a pack of wolves. .....fun times.

Nearly all of the folks I have blocked were not people who have griefed me. They were simply those I had noticed showing aggression toward others or perhaps have made moves, actions that appear threatening. I will also proactively block "dishonorable" players in posses. .....and yeah, call it profiling but players with outrageously high levels, certain gamertags, etc. are blocked as well. Maybe that's part of the reason why I've found more of my sessions lately populated with folks who appear to want to just do their own thing peacefully. ....I don't know. When playing solo I will sometimes take a couple minutes going through the player list and blocking certain individuals who are appear (to me) to be potential threats. When I read some of their profile descriptions, its obvious I made the right choice. On PS4 we have PSN Communities we can create. I find this also helps finding players to team up with who share a common interest. .....forums obviously do as well.
-
In my case, I play solo 2-3 times a week and I'm able to grind away with little drama. Hell, I was able to quickly (relatively speaking) rank up doing side missions by myself including repossessions, mail runs, etc. where you are quite vulnerable and open to targeted attacks. When hunting or doing missions I pick a region relatively free of other players. When selling goods I find a town with what I need that isn't populated by other players. If there is a distance to travel, I hunt along the way to make it worth my time. I simply avoid areas where other players congregate. I also proactively block trolls or those who appear they may cause trouble so my future sessions might be even more peaceful. I will say (again) that the game is much more fun with friends simply because of the camaraderie (I like talking, joking and co-oping with others) as well the protection it affords. When I'm with friends, I venture into areas I normally wouldn't if I were alone. ......and strangers tend to avoid you even more. As far as boredom due to a lack of content, I would agree. I'm not there yet as I still find it fun to play, but I can understand if others are. As far as trolls, it is rare that I ever have encounters with them these days playing the way I do. btw, the phone app is a terrific tool for situational awareness and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for added peace of mind when trying to avoid confrontations. I extended the invitation before but if you ever decide to get on, look me up. I'll team up with you if you want to explore the RDO world more, participate in activities, grind, etc.

Really sad? If by that you mean dealing with randoms in sessions then yeah, I might agree. .....but then again, I don't subject myself to that kind of torture nor would I expect anything good to come from it in most instances if I do. If I do meet someone by pure chance in game, befriend them and have a good time, it is a rarity. Most other times I find many of the folks in sessions simply don't want to have anything to do with you likely because they are wary of strangers and their intentions. Most folks I come across are simply passing through, doing their own business, etc. They will usually provide me with a wide berth, etc. and I afford the same courtesy. As far as open posses, some folks make them "open" by accident. I've had friends that have done this as well and were surprised when someone joins in. ......quickly kicking them out with no explanation since we are on an external channel. IME, sessions have been absolutely loaded with players. .....tons of new ones as well. I proactively block a lot of players (I mean a lot) and if it's any indication, I have never come across the same ones in new sessions (as I would expect I wouldn't if the block feature is working). I highly doubt player variety has anything to do with your issues. To be frank, I think your problem (IMO / IME) is trying to matchmake and meet total strangers in the game. Personally, I would recommend starting or joining a posse here on RDR2.org. Our PS4 posse keeps growing and we're at nearly 50 players now. My PSN Community is at 35 members. Even with these number there is no guarantee you'll find people to play with every time you're on but I still get to play at least 2-3 times a week with others in the group. Just had a blast last night with two old friends and then a new one from here later that night. We had a group of 3 all session. I also have another PSN friend I met in game who always has at least 5 people already in his posse. It's not uncommon for us to have a full 7 people when I ride with him. Maybe XB1 is different but I find networking outside of RDO is a far better way of making new in-game friends than within the game itself. .....and once you do find folks to play with, the game can be a lot more fun. I don't even mind it playing solo but with friends is more enjoyable. If I were to try and meet new people through the game I would probably try to do it with story missions. Although a lot of folks prefer not to have a mic on for some reason, sometimes you get lucky. .....and working together in a mission could be the ice breaker you need to ask to team up. If you were on PS4, I would invite you to team up together.
