At the gun store, when you buy ammo you are limited to what you can carry since what you buy there goes directly into your inventory. When buying ammo via the catalogue, while still limited to an amount you can buy (although it's in the hundreds), you have to go to a Post Office or your camp to pick it up. .....and when you pick it up, you are again limited to taking only what you are allowed to carry.

I don't see an issue with that but that's not to say it wouldn't be subject to review/scrutiny depending on the individual situation. Intent plays a big part in that. The main point of the rule is to address those that would use this site as a means for self promotion. .....including trying to sneak around those rules. I think Creed put it best with his post.

The Beta has Outworn its Welcome (Rant-a-tat-tat)
Kean_1 replied to HuDawg's topic in Red Dead Online
The people complaining about griefing are folks like me too. .....and I'll tell ya, we want to be able to do more than just hunt/fish/forage without having to interact with randoms. This is obviously not GTA but they could still use that game as a model for RDO in regard to private sessions which is why I bring it up. That is exactly the problem and if they ever do create private session options, you know they are likely going to borrow more than a couple things they learned from the GTA playbook. ....and btw, there is a big chunk locked behind public sessions in GTA. All of the VP and CEO activities for starters which is a huge part of what makes GTAVO fun. The issue is that you have to play in public servers with randoms to take part in any of that. Even with many of them making you contend with NPCs, you still have randoms that can be way stronger than you ruin your hard work. There is really no balance and that to me is absolutely no fun. ......and private sessions do nothing to solve that problem except exclude those players from fully enjoying what the game offers. There will never be a complete online experience in private modes if R* follows the same guidelines with RDO. This argument is going in circles though. With all due respect because I get your desire to keep Free Roam the way it is (although I don't agree), it makes no difference to me at this point to convince you of why we prefer more balance to Free Roam. What matters to me is the fact that R* has already acknowledged the griefing problem and is committed to implementing solutions that (hopefully) will help mitigate the problem of randoms who "grief and kill indiscriminately". Again, R*s description of the problem, not mine. It's clear to me that R* doesn't want RDO to be the crap show (as I believe you once put it) that public sessions are/were in previous titles. With GTA still co-existing alongside RDO, I don't see why they would want it to be. I really do think they would prefer to take a more balanced approach with RDO but no one will know for sure until this game really starts to get more content and options. -
I had a situation last night where we had just cleared out a gang camp. As we were finishing up, two players rode in. I got on my horse and took a flanking position in case they tried something. To my surprise, completely ignoring us, they started to try and loot the bodies. I immediately thought.....the nerve of these guys. A couple things..... Riding up on me that fast (off the road) I would say justifies being shot 9 times out of 10. Trying to loot bodies in a gang hideout that they had no part of in my opinion is really asking for it. Both actions break neighborly etiquette in my book and if I were alone or with some of my other friends and we hadn't already looted all the bodies, I / we would have killed them both. I guess luckily for them the players I were with were quite a bit more passive in this respect so we simply left them to dig through what was essentially nothing.

You're missing his whole point. He's not the one trying to force a "one size fits all" solution, R* is already doing that with Free Roam. There is no other alternative for PvE / co-op players right now and (more importantly) there is no guarantee that there will be in the form of private session alternatives. ....if they ever happen. As much as I hope and suspect there will be, there is simply no way to know for sure that invite-only options will materialize. They are already doing it now. .....at least for the meantime. Here's the key folks...... If private sessions do become a thing, it will depend entirely on how they are implemented before anyone can say they solve anything. The problem I see is if they use the GTAVO model where most of the businesses and related missions were locked behind public sessions. If you want participate in any of these continuing CEO/VP story missions / businesses, you have to be in a public session. Invite-only sessions are a kind of "band-aid" in the sense that they allow some level of separation from randoms but players in those private sessions will never be able to experience the whole game without subjecting themselves to public servers. R* forces this on to players if they want to participate in these activities which make up a good portion of what's fun about the game. As it stands, no one knows for sure what we will see in RDO's future. Given that fact, I can't blame anyone for complaining about griefers in Free Roam nor do I blame them for suggestion more balance in this mode. ....this one mode we have. Just the fact that R* has acknowledged the problem and is looking at ways to "improve gameplay balance" as a result (their words, not mine) tells me that they are still interested in trying to make this PvPvE experience work for all players to enjoy. .....and to be honest, that's all that really matters to me because in the end, convincing someone else it is, is really a moot point. -
Whether I'm browsing this site on a computer or via my Android phone, I don't have the problem described. I'm not saying it doesn't happen for the OP, just saying it's not occurring for everyone. @Mark4407, Is this happening for you on computer or on your phone? I don't know what can be done about it but as I mentioned in our message, I'll pass it along.

No, I get it. I understand.

Well, contrary to what some others may tell you, that doesn't mean they're blowing you off. Just means the issue is being worked on. I wouldn't expect them to sayuch else unless that rep is aware of a potential workaround. I received similar responses to other issues as well. I think you're doing the right thing telling your mates to submit the issue as well. It never hurts.

What did they say? Hopefully it's that they are aware if the issue and working to fix it. That may be seem like a scripted reply but there isn't much else they can say unless they know a fix or a workaround. I'm actually glad when they tell me that because it means it's likely to be fixed at some point. What I fear is when they seem not to be aware of the problem and give me some suggestions I know won't work.

I felt the same way until I heard about the advanced options for some of the features. I remade my character after that but luckily, that was early on. Maybe I just got lucky. -

I can't speak for what exploits people may have used but there was no other way to get the guns that I know of. As I said though, they were relatively cheap to obtain after the economy adjustments so I don't feel that is a real disadvantage. .....especially considering griefer's weapon of choice became the varmint rifle which is one of the cheapest and easiest guns to get in the game. I had obtained my dual Schofields, a Lancaster and pump action shotgun in a relatively short amount of time and those are still what I mostly use today (besides my rolling block rifle). Ammo and ability cards are what give players a great advantage over others IMO, especially when they know how to use them. .....and you need to meet the level caps and have enough in-game cash to get them. -

Kean_1 replied to HuDawg's topic in Red Dead Online
As far as I remember, the weapons were still locked behind level caps. I don't believe you could circumvent that with GBs. I do recall horse insurance on Arabians behind locked behind GBs which I thought was unfair. That was changed with the update that brought the store. I was able to shortcut the level system by buying my crossdraw holster with gold though. ....although I thought I recall a friend being able to do that after the store update as well. Folks who were playing the beta since the beginning got the benefit of free gold and in-game cash. .....and after the economy was adjusted, it was easy to obtain good weapons. Ability cards and premium ammo are locked behind level caps regardless and those are what prove to be game changers IMO (aside from practice / skill). -
Yeah, I guess I just got tunnel vision when I saw "where I can promote my channel" when I typed out my response. 😁

Thanks for clarifying Creed.

Be warned. Level 91 players packing Explosive ammo
Kean_1 replied to RED_DEADMAN's topic in Red Dead Online
I'm semi-retired myself and I'm at level 37 but the only time I typically play games is at night. Just can't bring myself to do it during the day. As weird as it sounds, I feel guilty if I do so I keep myself busy with other projects, etc. I think there are more of us on here in this age range than I realized. I actually spent some time at Thieves Landing(?) the other night. I ducked down in the wheelhouse of the docked boat and started shooting away. ....the law came and I shot some more. Now I know why some people do this in Saint Denis. It's a really easy way to get XP. The Lobo(?) gang kept spawning in so I kept shooting. Not one player ventured into the area the time I was there. -

My remark was in jest. ......hence the the emote. .....although there were a few reached that level early on in the game as I mentioned. As it stands now it's not unusual to run into higher level players and there has been weeks for people to make that happen. I didn't intend for anyone to feel offended by my remark. -
I would report it to R* through their support page if you haven't already. Make sure to click the bug / technical issue option on the following page. It will route you to the support site: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892

Rock Star announce that the BETA phase will last months.
Kean_1 replied to dredd1961's question in Questions & Answers
This is the announcement folks are talking about from last week: https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60804/Red-Dead-Online-Beta-Update "Red Dead Online will stay in beta for a few more months yet as we have many more new gameplay features to add across the board as well as further changes to improve, stabilize and refine the overall experience." The thing is, this was actually stated before the RDO beta was even launched so (to me at least) their mention of it in the last update wasn't anything unexpected. R* has been very upfront with all of this even before the game's release. The launch of the Red Dead Online Beta is the first step in what will be a continually expanding and dynamic world, and the beta period will allow us to deal with the inevitable turbulence of launching any online experience of this size and scale. During this process, we will be looking to our dedicated community to help us report and fix problems, share ideas, and assist in shaping the future of the full Online experience. As with all of our releases, we will strive to make the launch of Red Dead Online the best it can possibly be, and we ask that the community share that spirit with us over the next weeks and months. -

My experience has been mixed although when someone is roaming around with names like "xxITROLLUxx", etc., it's a safe bet they're up to no good. .....seriously though, I run into players with names like that who are high and low level. They are part of what I like to call my proactive blocking program. -

There have been people over level 100 for a while now. They are either paying people to help them level up, using exploits and / or have no life. 😁 -

Yeah, you definitely can't just ride into a town where there are people. In fact, most of us who want to avoid griefers have to be on constant guard and plan our routes, activities and destinations accordingly. I use the phone app and it's been a life saver in this respect. When I spawn in to a new session I usually go where most people are not. Sometimes that's down by Tumbleweed, other times its on the opposite side of the map so I hunt along the way to make the travel worth it. I've also become pretty good at reading other players and their intentions. ....so much so that I will sometimes ride into towns and even pass them by without much worry if I believe they are just minding their own business. I spend a couple minutes essentially people watching. ....you can tell a lot about players in RDO by observing what they do on the map. Now, when I'm with a posse of friends, it's a bit of a different story and depending on the number in my group, we can take more risk around folks (especially those playing solo). IMO, it's still not fun for the rest of us who constantly have to watch our backs for some idiot that wants to put a bullet in your head for absolutely no reason other than to troll or grief. ....and I do mean no reason since there really isn't one. The XP isn't worth it and there is no gain in currency or goods. Trolls try to provoke a response regardless of how you feel about the encounter while griefers simply want to make your life miserable any way they can. Free Roam needs balance and I hope the upcoming changes help.
