  1. I'm closing this thread as it has quickly devolved into the insult slinging fest I knew it would. I tried to be reasonable. We don't need this here. Reddit is a great place to start if you're really into this sort of thing.
  2. I don't know how many folks may have missed this in R*s latest beta status update (I've mentioned it before) but I think it's really interesting. This new "dynamic" sounds like a potentially great opportunity for everyone as it seems players might have a chance to take an active role in being on the side of the law or as "rogues". There's a level of accountability to indiscriminate killing while adding a potentially new and fun aspect to the gameplay. The only people who may not like it are some of the griefers taking advantage of easy targets but I can see how others might welcome the new challenge and chance to role play. If folks could just set aside for a moment trying to define what RDO is (e.g. PvE, PvP, PvPvE, FFA), take a step back and see what R* has said is coming down the pike, I think it's obvious that they don't want to eliminate the adversarial aspect of the gameplay but simply try and help mitigate some of the griefing taking place. .....in other words, balance (which is really all that some of us have been asking for). In the end, we could end up with new and interesting aspects to the gameplay that benefit everyone. Let's see how it shakes out first.
  3. Sounds like a good idea to me. It's a positive subject too.
  4. I have no idea if it will help but if you think it will then go ahead, create the thread. You can submit the link through their feedback site. I'd still encourage folks to submit their own individual ideas as well though.
  5. Hi Dutch, First, welcome to the forums. Now that is out of the way, please realize that RDR2.org is an RDR fansite and not an official forum for R* or T2. We can't add anything to the game. If you would like to provide suggestions, submit bug reports, etc. to R*, I would suggest the following link: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892
  6. First things first.... Hi Bullets and welcome to the forum. Just to clarify, RDR2.org is a fan site and not affiliated with R*. Something obviously doesn't sound right in your scenario and I would urge you to submit a bug report to R* directly through the link below: https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.137104240.1965470933.1548811803-1719606522.1525287356 Having said that, I personally haven't heard of this issue but maybe someone else has and found a way to work around it.
  7. That right there is definitely a problem and one I agree shouldn't be handled that way if that's the case. GB purchases should be retained on the account. It might be one thing if the items become locked again on a new lvl 0 character until a certain rank but even then that's not cool in my book. ....but we're talking about items that disappear for good? Definitely no bueno...
  8. I never bought a Shark Card in GTAO and will likely never buy a Gold Bar in RDO. Having said that, it's not due my disapproval of R*s MTX system. It's quite the opposite view in fact as I realize that these systems are what drive the R* GaaS business model and help will deliver content in RDO over the coming years for all of us. I guess I just never felt the need for the shortcut in these games and in the case with GBs (where the only items locked behind them are essentially all cosmetic), I doubt I'll want to spend cash for a fancy outfit, unique horse color, etc. ......but if that what floats others boats, I'm all for it and darn glad they do find value in such things because without them, we wouldn't have GTAO or RDO.
  9. ....that's a lot of assumptions there. Not that the issues are not occurring (I'm not saying that at all) but keep in mind that they are not occurring the same for everyone. In my case, I see no difference in the way the side missions work now than before. They still don't work at times and in the same ways they did / didn't back before the update. I understand that's changed for some folks. For me, I can still do all of them as long as the missions start. So far, the holding down of the L2 button (PS4) seems to be getting that done in my situation. I think a lot of it has to do with network performance of the player and the people who share the session. Personally, I don't think they rolled back anything but rather (perhaps) introduced new issues for some with the changes that they made. The fact is that this update was more specifically for the Gun Rush mode and the other new additions (including bug fixes) will be coming with the title update. ....where there will be a local download required. I'd like to see how that shakes out.
  10. I tried this for one session and I didn't have a problem with missions starting although there was a bit of delay on one. It didn't matter how close my teammates were in my case. I'll have to try it for a couple more sessions before I can say it definitely works for me though. I also thought the same with a couple other things I tried (like moving around during the dialogue) until I had problems again.
  11. Weird..... It's always worked for me. I usually have a party chat set up for friends and then if they want to join, they let me know. Sometimes they simply show up in my session so then I have to send them a chat invite as well as a posse invitation. I'm on PS4 btw.
  12. @lWoodyl fyi.... RDR2.org is a fan site, not an official forum of R*. While venting here is fine, it's not going to change anything. If you want R* to hear your grievances, I'd suggest submitting them through their beta feedback site here: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892 Welcome to the forums btw.....
  13. Well, let's cross our fingers. I guess we'll have to see how it all shakes out after the next update.
  14. I hope he reported the incident and sent this to R* Support.
  15. Yeah, I use Express rounds almost exclusively in my weapons. I really haven't played around with the High Velocity ammo. You bring up a good point about lock on.... There are a lot of aspects to the gameplay mechanics R* doesn't talk about and/or make easily known. Seems a lot of these "little details" have to be passed on by fellow players like tribal knowledge. I really wish they would make more of this stuff available in a tutorial, a guide, documentation ,etc.
  16. Hey Chris, Just know that I'm talking as a fellow member here. If I weren't a mod, I'd still be posting what I did. I'm just hoping we can all agree based on the kind of community I know we are and that we can continue to be. I really like this community otherwise I wouldn't have accepted the job as a mod. ....and I only did because I wanted to give back to all the folks who have contributed to make this one of the better forums out there. I get the frustration of seeing a game's direction turn for what you feel is the worst. Let's hope this isn't the case with RDO and that the solutions R* comes with can have benefits for us all. ....speaking of which, I hardly see anyone mention this but I'm kinda curious about the whole bounty / posse thing. Look what R* says here: Makes me wonder the role players will have in this new "dynamic" they invision. Maybe now we can actually have outlaws and lawmen RP in the game. I could see this being fun and a challenge for both. I'm sure there will be rewards for both.
  17. I use the Springfield quite extensively. It's deadly and I like it a lot. ....way more than the bolt action but as mentioned, that's just preference. Maybe I need to give the BA another shot? I also prefer the Lancaster over the Litchfield. I like the speed advantage that it has between shots in both hunting and defense. ....but again, I could end up changing my mind. Other than the Varmint Rifle, this is one reason I like the weapon balance in RDO. When people are choosing weapons based on personal preference, specific tasks, etc., you know you're on the right track (IMO).
  18. The PvP / PvE aspect of Free Roam is obviously a well debated topic and one that has sparked some obvious divides among some folks. All I'm saying is that we can still discuss the topics here with a level of civility without trying to belittle someone or a group of fellow members simply for sharing a difference of opinion. That only serves to incite a negative reaction in others followed by a toxic exchange. What good does that do? Hey, I get tired of hearing some folks as well on forums for one reason or another so I just use the ignore feature and voila. .....I don't have to read their remarks. I can't really do that here because I'm a mod (I need to see what folks are posting), but I think you get the point. All I will say about your examples of "whiners" is that in RDOs case, those folks used the feedback site R* provided to lodge their complaints and make their suggestions. ....and this wasn't a small group according R*. This feedback is the reason they are implementing anti-griefing measures for those who indiscriminately kill (using their own words). No one here is privy to all of the gameplay data, feedback, reports, etc. that R* is. .....and I have to believe they are using all of that valuable information to help drive their decisions vs. making knee-jerk choices based on the opinion of a small minority of their player base. Look, my point is that slamming people for voicing their opinion isn't the answer. First, it doesn't help change anyone's opinion on the topic and second, it doesn't change anything with the game. Unlike other betas on console, RDO is still in development and R* is taking feedback seriously in it's development. They have been urging people to use their feedback page to submit their own ideas, suggestions, bug reports and complaints. I've used it several times myself. If you really don't like the direction you think RDO is going, I would urge you to do the same.
  19. I like the suggestions from @BropolloCreed79 and even if they need tweaking to make them work, at least they are suggestions to help bring about some semblance of balance in Free Roam. .....and contrary to what some will believe, balance is all some of us really want (not a totally neutered experience for those who like the PvP element). I like the fact that instead of shooting down ideas, he's at least trying to find ones that work for all. As far as R*s vision, they have stated that RDO was a mode for all and I've quoted their marketing them time and time again. If their descriptions are to be taken at their word, they didn't intend Free Roam to be a free for all from the outset. Perhaps they thought player interactions would be a more organic experience than it turned out to be but if they were OK with the current indiscriminate killing/trolling, they wouldn't be working on "anti-griefing" measures. Speaking of which, I'm interested to see what they have planned for the posse system. It sounded to me that they may be planning to integrate other players into the mix as lawmen when bounties are issued. IMO, this should be something true PvP'ers would see as a challenge as they could take on the role of a real outlaw or as lawmen helping to protect other players in the session. Personally, I would think PvP'ers would welcome the challenge while true griefers, not so much.
  20. Seems to me that we can all share our own opinions openly and constructively without disrespectful remarks to one another including groups of people. This thread appears more like a not-so veiled insult toward a segment of the community rather than one actually making a point about the game. If you guys really want to affect change, I would encourage you (as I do with everyone) to submit your feedback to R* here: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892 One of the reasons RDR2.org is such a great place IMO is due to its community, it's generally welcoming atmosphere and the overall respect for each other even when we disagree. Not everyone is going to agree on what we would like to see in this game but I would think we could discuss it rather than trying to belittle one another. Also, it's a working beta and one where R* is using the feedback to make changes as they develop RDO. I think we can all share our opinions with a certain level of mutual respect, yeah?
  21. Something's wrong then. I know for a fact that hay will show in the left slot when I have it in my inventory. Not sure what's going on then.
  22. I've played with folks from the UK and as far as Hong Kong (I'm on the West coast of the U.S.). ......rarely any issues. In fact, I hardly have issues regardless of who I play with but I still do have them once in a great while. I don't know what the circumstances are that cause this issue more for some than others, but I think the important thing to note here is there are still connection issues R* needs to address.
  23. Just an fyi.... The details regarding the last status update are also stickied at the top of this forum for reference if anyone needs it:
  24. IIRC, you can at least get them to show up on the left item location. Just scroll through the items in that spot until you get to the oatcakes and they should stay. I know I had them there at one point when I ran out of hay. ....and btw, hay is a great item to feed your horse as well if you didn't know. ....and it's only 25 cents a pop.
