  1. ......and if they have that much control over an area, there is no need to be jerks and start killing people simply for coming into town to do their trading, shopping, etc. Just another form of griefing IMO. I've run with full 7 person posses and we don't do that nor do we find the need to. People tend to leave us alone and those that don't soon find out they should have.
  2. Nice to see older folks like myself on here.
  3. Just be aware that if you are intending to step away, you'll be susceptible to aggressors / griefers.
  4. This has happened to me a couple times. ....it was nice. As for other players and playing side missions, I simply go to the section of the map where players are either scarce or non-existent. I haven't had too many problems with others interfering with my missions to be honest. If players are evenly spaced in the game world, I'll only take missions that have to do with kidnapping, NPC elimination, etc. I will avoid repossessions, mail runs, etc. if I feel the risk is too great.
  5. Yeah, they really limited what vendors will pay for compared to the campaign. To be honest, I don't know who will take those things. Doctors will take herbs, fences will take jewelry and such but I really don't know who (if anyone) will take tonics.
  6. I have a Posse group here on RDR2.org if you're looking for folks to play with in RDO: I also have a Community on PSN named "Red Dead Redemption 2 - TeamUp" so please feel free to join on there as well if you wish. The PSN Community serves the same purpose as the RDR2.org Posse. ......to create a pool of mature players for us to tap into when playing RDO. While I'm in the U.S. myself (West coast), we do have a few folks from the UK as well. My PSN name is the same as my forum name so feel free to send me an invite if you like. This invite is for anyone who is on PS4 and is looking for co-op partners to mitigate the issue of griefing, do missions, collect hides, etc.
  7. ......this is a recruitment sub-forum. This topic would be better suited for the general forum. With that aside, I don't get these threads asking griefers to explain their actions. It's obvious why they do it and even if it isn't, discussions like these only end up being toxic because trolls will be trolls whether that's in a game or in a forum. There are already a couple example of this. Maybe they like provoking people? Maybe they can't stand other people having fun? Maybe they like the power they feel in the game (perhaps due to a lack of control they feel over their own lives)? Maybe they got (or still get) bullied and want to take it out on someone? It's all really a moot point as the result is the same. .....they will grief and like doing it regardless of the reason. IMO your best bet is to continue to share your feedback with R* and find a group of friends you can play with. ....speaking of which, R* has already mentioned that new anti-griefing measures are incoming so we'll have to see how that helps the gameplay. If you need someone to join up with, look me up. I'm on PS4 as well and have a PSN Community (along with a Posse here). Just folks looking to play co-op with others and protect one another from griefers. I would also encourage you to block and report players who troll you. The block function works through the PSN option and the report feature is within the game itself (there is one for "disruptive behavior"). Since I've been blocking people, I have yet to come across someone I have already added to my list so I'll continue to do it until I find it doesn't work.
  8. I like my AA a little weak because I absolutely hate the instant lock-on to targets that are not close to my aim. Makes the game much less challenging IMO and less fun (for me). .....but when PvP'ers and trolls are taking full advantage of it, my choices become a severe handicap. I'm ok with that though as I don't like the PvP events anyhow and have been able to hold my own with most griefers. If there was a way to save and change between setups, I would likely have one that favored AA much more than my current setting for those PvP/troll situations.
  9. .......likely an Easter egg than a spoiler IMO from (as mentioned) RDR1.
  10. Well, feel free to send me an invite if you'd like someone to play with. I'm over 50 myself so I guess you can call me "mature". lol Most of my PSN friends are older as well. We usually just like playing side missions and doing activities for money / XP. .....or whatever folks in the party need. I'm not really into the PvP matches. Too chaotic and twitchy for me. I'm on most nights from @ 8PM for a couple hours or more depending on who's around (U.S.; PST).
  11. Had fun with @tyemax2 and another old PSN friend last night even though we got trolled by a group that followed us to a second session. Easy enough to ignore though and now I'm 50 XP away from lvl 31 and Express ammo. ....whoo hoo.
  12. When dealing with randoms, things will always be way more unpredictable and therefore likely more difficult to find what you're looking for. You can view all posses in a session and look for those that are open and honorable if you wish. .....but just be aware that when dealing with randoms that is no guarantee as to how the group will act. The leader can still kick you out, other members can troll you, etc. Your best bet is to find friends to play with. Join one of the RDR2.org posses and/or a PSN Community. I've found a few PSN friends that way. The problem with meeting new people I find is that many folks tend to be a little shy when mingling. They join the groups but then hardly socialize if at all. I get it though as they are likely just unsure. Either way, the more people in a group, the better your chances are of finding folks you can play with on a regular basis. Not everyone has the same playstyle preferences. Even personalities, time differences, etc. can clash. ......but that's fine. The trick is finding the players you can ultimately synch with and that can only happen if you begin to mingle and become more active in groups, etc.
  13. I see you confirmed you're on PS4. Here's the info I mentioned earlier.... A link to the RDR2.org Posse page for our group: I also have a Community on PSN named "Red Dead Redemption 2 - TeamUp" so please feel free to join on there as well if you wish.
  14. It's nothing new and hardly a deterrent IMO/IME. This is not a result of any new anti griefing measures R* discussed in their last beta update.
  15. I posted exactly what they said in their last response on the concern but here are the two official statements: The first.... ....and then a follow up statement that I quoted in part in my earlier response: Anything else is speculation. https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/tags/716?page=2
  16. Feel free to add me if you want. I also have a group in the posse forum and a PSN Community you're welcome to join. My PSN name is the same as my forum name. I'm over 50 btw so I guess that's mature enough.
  17. Yeah, the bolt action has been a waste for me.
  18. I don't even own the Varmint Rifle. My current favorites are the Lancaster (Yellow Boy) and pump action shotgun. .....and my two Schofields of course. I've heard and seen (especially trolls) using the varmint rifle but I never missed it. I will buy it at some point but right now I'm focusing on making it to lvl 31 for the Express ammo. My next weapon will be the lever action shotgun and then maybe the Litchfield (Henry) or Springfield. I've already got the Bolt Action and Rolling Block rifles. .....the latter I'm getting pretty proficient at for distant take downs even though there is no auto aim with it. I'm still torn on the semi auto shotgun.
  19. I had the same issue. However, I believe the locations assigned also has to do with what's available at the time. The game will not assign the same camp location to more than one player a far as I can tell. Given that there is a limited amount of camps available, I can see where the game might not be able to assign you one in the area you choose. .....assigning alternatives in surrounding provinces instead. In that sense, they could at least place them closer to your present location IMO or give an option to set up a camp closest to you. ....maybe even let you know no more camps are available in the area you choose (e.g. greying out the province in the selection). Just some food for thought. Also, I would assume this might be a concern of the past once properties are available for purchase as players will likely be able to occupy the same buildings as they do in GTA.
  20. This beta is clearly different than most others on console where they are typically just stress test and used for marketing. It's a working beta. Also, although RDO is in beta, it is available to everyone who has a copy of RDR2. I don't see any unfairness in those who have been gifted gold and in-game money for playing the game so far. This is nothing different than what R* does with GTA during certain weekends, events or other periods of time where they award money or freebies to players just for logging in, etc.
  21. Oh my...... Word of caution to anyone who clicks on that video and watches more than a couple seconds of it. ......you WILL have that horrible tune stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
  22. @john013 (and anyone else who cares) I follow these Twitter sources for RDO news and I found them quite reliable for the latest updates when they hit: @RockstarGames @RDonlineNews @RDonlineNews Personally, I'm not going to get worked up on pure assumptions. Back on Dec 4th they even mentioned (due to concerns of a stat / progress reset) that they "currently do not have any plans to reset them as part of the Beta’s rollout". They obviously can't guarantee that there will be no reset(s) as they may still yet run into unforeseen issues that may require it. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that gold, money and purchased items would be affected if they did have to reset players progress, level, etc. This is all just speculation on the off chance that they might have to reset anything.
  23. My beef wasn't necessarily with the OPs stance on skill with auto aim but the whole sense of pride and accomplishment some feel about "skillz" in a freakin' GAME. ......and their desire to brag about it to everyone else as if it were some sort of life accomplishment to be proud of. Call me when you're making six figures on the competitive gaming circuit and endorsements, then I might be impressed. ......I said might. Personally, I could give two craps about K/D ratios, stats, etc. As long as my friends and I are having fun, that's all that matters. ....and yeah, a little ribbing / gloating in that context is fine.
  24. Who knows. I'm sure we will have more news soon however.
