  1. If you guys really want to help effect change, submit your feedback to R*. Provide them with the details of your experience with the gold bar system. I suspect it's an oversight if it is occurring as some describe and not intentional deceit but then again, some will automatically assume the worst regardless.
  2. Honestly, I don't know. I haven't really studied the weapons in-game for any length or played around with them enough. ......in relation to real life, even hardcore milsim titles can miss the mark and RDO is far from being that kind of game so.... I wouldn't even want to get into a discussion regarding ballistics because 1) I'm not that smart 2) RDR2 simply isn't the kind of game where real life has much impact. Hell, in the game we're using one kind of ammo for all "repeaters", rifles, revolvers, etc. yet the damage varies between weapons within each group. Logically, if the ammo were the same in two different rifles, the "damage" should essentially be unchanged. .....not factoring in twist rate, barrel lengths, etc. blah, blah, blah which can affect accuracy, etc. To be honest, the original Winchester repeater was chambered for the same .44 rimfire cartridge the the Henry used (I think that was the only one it came in). The original Winchester (66) was the successor to the Henry rifle. Why the Litchfield (Henry) does more damage than the Lancaster (Winchester) all boils down to game / weapon balance. .....not reality. The Winchester '73 used the .44-40 centerfire (a popular cartridge shared in pistols as well like the Schofield) and later versions were offered in rifle cartridges. Modern variants are chambered in all sorts of calibers. Personally, I wouldn't mind one in .357/.38 as that's a round I already use for my single action Blackhawk. Folks like Creed who hunt or compete are probably more into ballistics than someone like me.
  3. ....the repeater you get at the start is junk IMO. I got a Lancaster as soon as I could afford one. They aren't that expensive and worlds better IMO. If I line up headshots on NPCs, they usually go down with the first shot. Pistols are typically a last resort option for me.
  4. btw, here's one of those guides I was talking about earlier that shows the real life equivalent of the weapons in RDR2. It's an article so it's easier to thumb through to see the info you're interested in: https://www.range365.com/guns-red-dead-redemption-2
  5. ....it's interesting that they were still able to use the model and even company names (like Springfield) on some of them though. I know in Springfield's case the modern company is not the same as the old (the name is licensed out to them IIRC). ....I own a Springfield MC Operator 1911 myself (well made and spectacular warranty). Again, I don't know how all of the trademark and usage of company names works in cases like this. I just find it interesting. Thanks for the insight Creed. ....btw, knew about the "AR" misconception. Don't get me started. Some also think its stands for "automatic rifle".
  6. Hi Tye, I'm on around 7:30 - 8 PM PST most nights and when I log off I guess depends on whos on. Sometimes I'll check out before 11 PM, sometimes I'm still toiling away. Feel free to join the PSN Community and / or send me a friend req if you like. I'm up for making more cash in RDO if you want someone to tag along with you.
  7. Actually, the Lancaster in the game is a Winchester, the Litchfield a Henry, the Cattleman a Colt SAA, the Mauser a Mauser C96 broom handle and so on. .....but then again, guns like the Schofield are actually to the model they are described as (S&W Schofield). I suppose the renaming or partial naming of some were to get around licensing issues. I don't know how that all works to be honest. There were a couple sites that made real world comparison charts if you're interested. I'm responding on my phone but Ill post one up later.
  8. Oh cool! Hadn't seen that. I think it's obvious the drawings show a portal of sorts for time travel perhaps? Look at the modern skyscrapers / industry and then (what I assume) would be ancient Egypt. Then there is the nuclear blast, the eye tattoos, etc. Very strange. Maybe this is a peek into a potential DLC? ....instead of Undead NIghtmare it's time travel? Usually Easter eggs point to something folks recognize but I don't see a relation of this to anything I'm aware of.
  9. lol.... It's just something that had always been in my life. It's not a big part of my life but simply part of it. I'm no expert though. My Blackhawk is probably the closest thing to a 19th century design I own (although with a modern cocking design, transfer bar, etc.). ....my 1911 would be next even in it's modern form. Although I do have fond memories shooting my Dad's 30-30 Winchester. Hickcock45 did a recent video on the guns of RDR2 that may interest you (if you haven't seen it already). Great enthusiast and really down to earth. He owns most of the real life equivalents.
  10. The Volcanic was also an interesting design. Kinda like a scaled down Henry rifle.
  11. @Abysstic You're absolutely right. The Schofield would be faster to unload and reload due to the top break design and the way the empty cases were ejected. .....and yes, it was designed as a cavalry pistol that could be unloaded / reloaded one handed if needed. Schofields also came in a variety of calibers (e.g. .44 S&W, .45 Schofield, etc.). They were not vastly inferior to the .45 Colt ammunition found in the SAA design and by contrast, were quite effective. I own a Ruger Blackhawk which is essentially modeled after the same single-action design. While I can unload that pistol rather fast, it's nowhere near as quick as a Schofield would be. You still have to rotate the cylinder and eject each spent casing one by one. It's funny..... The "Cattleman" is actually the name of the model Uberti makes that replicates the old Colt SAA design.
  12. .....but I'm not excusing griefing, trolling, etc. based on the game's design. That's my point. I'm saying it happens because of it and like it or not, those trolls were allowed to be jerks because the game allows it. Until we see how the new anti-griefing measures will change the game or other new options like private sessions, it is what it is right now. ....right, wrong or indifferent, there it is. In all honesty, we are in complete agreement but I don't think you see that. I'm not excusing trolish behaviour nor am I excusing R* for allowing and even encouraging it by the way they designed Free Roam. Now, whether you choose to let it completely consume you is up to you but for me, I'm trying to make the best of the rest of the game while they sort out the beta. I can be a complete Debbie Downer on the whole game but if I really felt that way, I would have shelved this title by now. There's always a chance this game may not pan out for me in the long run because I don't like the direction they take but I'll just have to see how it goes.
  13. I know exactly what you mean. If I equip one, that's the only thing I notice on the whole outfit.
  14. I did something similar. Someone rode into a scuffle I was having with NPCs and helped out. Well, he kept changing position and I accidentally locked onto him and shot him. ......twice lol. The first time I said I was sorry but the second time he died. I let him take me out without a fight but then we both rode off our separate ways. He didn't have a mic so I couldn't communicate with him and I had no idea if he had me muted. ....which is another big problem IMO. No one communicates unless it's to troll or if you're in your own group.
  15. Don't take my response as some sort of excuse for griefing / trolling or the current design of Free Roam. That's why I used terms like "sad fact", "unfortunately", etc. As for leaving a session..... If someone is getting griefed and doesn't want the leave the session or prefers to get revenge, etc. then that's their business but personally, I'd rather move on and continue enjoying the game instead of dealing with tools like these. Having said that, I rarely run into trolls now using many of the tips several of us have shared in this forum and I've only had to leave a session twice. Most of my interactions with strangers lately have actually been good and I'm beginning to open myself up a bit to the thought of interacting more.
  16. That must be a bug. I've also seen video of trolls trying to lasso a player while he was in camp to no avail. Personally, I would report the issue to R* at their feedback site: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=addb2b0b I would make sure to use their report feature for bugs and not just the feedback section. I just reported an unrelated bug today having to do with merchants and someone got back to me within minutes saying that it's a known issue they are working on. The camps are supposed to be safe sanctuaries when your white flag is up. I highly doubt this lasso trick is by design.
  17. Sure, they were jerks for trolling you but the sad fact is that they did nothing wrong and were playing within the game's design. Unfortunately, you broke the rules in your response. Personally, I don't let people get me to the point where I would do that but that's just me. If someone is trolling me, I will simply block them and try to escape the situation (joining a new session if needed or when possible). .....but I also will report anyone who is using threats, slurs, etc. In all honesty though, I have had very few problems with griefers overall and I've been playing a lot of solo sessions.
  18. A little more info and a video: "Songs include classics such as “Deck the Halls,” “We Three Kings,” “O Holy Night,” and more." Pretty cool IMO. There's quite few of them and they all seem to be full length. I got a chuckle out of it.
  19. No idea. It works fine for me. Are you ordering from the catalogue or the stores? I purchased my cross draw holster with gold (from the catalogue IIRC) and some weapon upgrades at a store, a coat and a couple other things. What exactly are you trying to buy? Some things will still be locked out by level and not all things can be purchased using gold I believe.
  20. I stumbled on this a while ago but yeah, it's not really apparent that you can. I didn;t even care about the challenges at first because I thought the buckles were tacky anyhow. .....then I noticed the reset feature and nugget offer.
  21. Yeah, me neither. Nothing really great so far as loot except the xp you get I guess.
  22. You know, I had this issue in the campaign but not online. On the other hand, I do have a problem with my outfit whenever I start a new game. Luckily I simply keep the presets on the horse so it's easy to change. I have two Schofields and they never default to anything else like my Cattleman. The game also seems to remember my last two long gun selections. ......again, which the campaign didn't.
  23. You know, its funny because a couple nights ago I ran into for of them which was really unusual for me. .....although they do seem to pop up more frequently lately than they did for me before.
  24. Yeah, I played a bit tonight but forgot to step into a bar to check. Just saw it on my Twitter feed and thought I'd mention it to folks.
  25. Apparently, Christmas music is now being played in the saloons in RDO.
