  1. Well, you already know he's going to give a response meant to rile people up regardless. ......it's what true trolls do. It's pointless to try and dissect people like this. ......really, it is.
  2. I think it's a $4 charge, yeah?
  3. ....exactly. Maybe it's because the NPCs aren't defenseless and shoot back. 😄
  4. Milk what? The game is in beta. The MTX system is like any other component one would add in a beta to test and fine tune. Makes sense to me as a company to get it in place and get it working properly before implementing other gameplay components. ......especially right before Christmas. .....and as Cory said, most are cosmetic and some items in the catalogue are already locked behind gold bars that some folks want. Like it or not, there are plenty of gold bars being sold and this MTX system is what is going to sustain RDO (hopefully) into the distant future. Believe me, they are not pushing everything else aside by implementing gold bars now. It's the holidays so I wouldn't expect the next update until after New Years but I would expect things to ramp up rather quickly after that. Also, this week is going to be another big stress test on their servers so that could be another reason they are holding off on introducing more gameplay components to the game right now.
  5. ....but who said I (Kean) was going around shooting anyone without provocation? I simply said I wouldn't bust his balls for shooting someone loitering right at the butchers stand. ....and he said 3 minutes but in your own words you've done it for 10 minutes. That's just asking for trouble and its a little rude IMO as others may feel that they have to travel elsewhere to sell their skins, meat , etc. to avoid a confrontation. This is where you don't understand what I'm saying. Again, as I said before, I do my business with the butcher and move on to a spot that doesn't make me appear like I'm going to ambush anyone and is safe for me if I'm going to loiter. .....but that's just me. Call it whatever you want you call it but I don't see someone like Fretter taking out a suspected troll in a well known spot for trolling as a griefer. Not what I would do personally in that situation but I'm also not going to loiter to make someone like him feel threatened nor am I going to bust his balls about how he said he handles the situation here.
  6. Yeah, I really like his videos. .....park your horse. lol btw, good visual example too of what we were talking about that kicked off this whole side discussion. It's way faster to unload a Schofield. .....and arguably reload one as well as you are not required to rotate the barrel and the entire cylinder face is open.
  7. No, not really but that's ok because you're not understanding the point we're trying to make either. ....c 'est la vie.
  8. ....go figure. He's a troll in the game and forums. Cool thing here is that I can just stick these tools on my ignore list like I do in game with the block feature on PSN. ....buh bye.
  9. yup, and a little observation on the big map can tell you a lot about the likely intention of other players.
  10. ....store, saloon or my favorite, the post office if I'm in town since you're protected. If I'm not out alone in the wild or in camp, that's where I do my inventory assessments, catalogue browsing, etc. I'm not going to bust someone's balls for taking a precaution by shooting a camper at a known griefing spot.
  11. .....and I was merely saying what I do as a common courtesy to fellow non-griefers who want to get to the butcher to see their goods and to avoid being shot myself. IMO, if you're just loitering around the butcher trying to figure out your crap for 10 minutes, you're asking to be a target but then again, I'm also considering my fellow non-griefers too who may feel nervous that it's an ambush.
  12. Then don't worry about it if the thread doesn't speak to you. ....easy peasy. The OP already made the discussion as PC as he could as most companies at least give the day(s) off to their employees as "holidays". Nollaig Chridheil Hoover!
  13. .....why would you even be standing right next to a butcher to do that? If I'm going to be idle, I get out of the area, go to a post office, etc. for my own safety and the courtesy of others by showing I'm not a threat.
  14. That's what I do. I vary activities. I tend to keep hunting for when I play solo but I also do that too with groups to change it up in our session
  15. Yeah, I got kicked a couple times last night and also the night before. It's funny..... Never really used to happen to me until after the patch that was supposed to resolve it. We need to make sure to continue sending feedback to R* when stuff like this happens.
  16. It's funny .... I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum and it took a while of doing dishonorable things last night to even get my bar to budge but then it would more easily move once it did.
  17. What platform are you in (can't see all profile details on phone)? I'm over the half century mark myself and play with another friend my name age and typically others who are in their 30s-40s. If you're on PS4 and need some companionship, let me know. I am on the West coast of the US though (not sure where you are at) and I typically play evenings. btw, when playing solo, you really need to keep a close eye on other players. I try not to even get close enough to others where they will appear on my minimap. I will typically go to other butchers if I see randoms in a town. I will work on something else if I see players near an objective (e.g. treasure map, etc.). Of course, when you're with someone, it's easier and safer to take some risk.
  18. .....on the other hand, we are talking about a game with an auto aim system so strong that it allows players to make incredible head shots with relative ease. ....with a .22 varmint rifle no less at a distance. No thanks, I'll take the advantage the ability cards provide. If they had a session that eliminated auto aim, I'd say yeah, a more lethal damage model would be great.
  19. What misconceptions? The argument your making about the AR acronym was precisely the point that was brought up here. ......and then you're taking some of my remarks out of context. The reference to .357 / .38 cal. was regarding what I might have considered in a current production Winchester 73. Some other points..... When Winchester introduced the 44-40 it wasn't soley used in Winchester arms. It was in fact adopted by other manufacturers who made variants chambered in this caliber which included S&W (as I had already mentioned when I referred to the Schofield), Remington, Marlin and yes, even Colt (e.g. the Colt Frontier). Also, you're probably talking about the 1873 Springfield Trapdoor that used the 44-70 cartridge. I was talking about the Winchester Model 1873 that used the 44-40. See below for reference which also includes a bit about the original 66 design using the Henry rimfire cartridge like I said. https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/shooting-history-winchester-1873-old-gun-review/ Also, the 44-40 used in the Winchester Model 1873 rifle (which was also a pistol caetridge) was in fact a centerfire cartridge (not rimfire). I don't mean to sound harsh but I want to make it clear that there were no misconceptions here on our end in what you tried to point out as being such.
  20. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
  21. Ahhh.... Guess I read it the wrong way, sorry. Yeah, Creed and I had that discussion about kids and when they're ready, etc. Although mine isn't, there are still basic safety rules I teach him if he does encounter any guns. .....stop, don't touch, leave the area immediately and tell an adult (preferably my wife or myself). As shooters/owners, we abide the same simple rules 1) Treat every gun as if it is loaded 2) Never point a gun at anything you're not willing to destroy 3) Keep your finger off the trigger until you're on target and ready to fire 4) Know your target and what is beyond. There are variations of the verbiage and even additional rules but those are typically the primary ones that you'll hear. You obviously should know how a particular weapon operates before handling it (e.g. so you know how to clear it), know the correct ammunition type to use (it might fit and even be the right caliber but not what is recommended for the weapon), use eye and ear protection, etc., etc. It's funny, I've been complimented before in a gun shop when I cleared a weapon the clerk handed to me even though he just checked it himself 10 seconds prior with me watching. I told him that I always treat every gun as loaded which means I'm going to check it myself regardless and then still treat it like it's loaded. .....first rule. With years of repetition I find these things to be second nature. I'm also find myself to be very attuned to what others are doing around me when they are handling guns at a range, in a shop, etc. Gun safety is the utmost importance and something I take very seriously. .....as should everyone.
  22. Well, for one, my kid is too young at this point in his life to be handling guns but I wouldn't recommend anyone jumping fences, holstering or otherwise handling a weapon in a "ready to fire" state unless they are actually ready to shoot. That would go for several of the real life counterparts of the weapons repesented in this game that have no safety and are ready to shoot with just a pull of the trigger once (for example) the hammer is cocked back. You would be asking for a negligent discharge to happen. IMO, the "recocking" of most of these weapons makes sense to me. Howvere, rechambering a round each time in the "bolt action rifle", not so much but then again, I'm not familiar with the Krag's (the real life rifle's) safety features, quirks, etc. .....but beyond all this nonsense, it's just a game with a touch of historical accuracy, a dash a realism, some randomness and other features to make the game more immmersive. .....and I think they got it right for the most part to keep it still fun. ...btw, not too sure why you were asking me this question. I wasn't agreeing with the OP.
  23. Yes. It sthe same for RDO and R* published a recent article in their Newswire about it here: https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60759/Game-Tips-Combat-Ability-Cards?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rdobeta-combattips-12132018&utm_content=newswire
  24. Yes. There was an additional amount gifted to folks as a thank you from R* including some extra cash ($100 this time around IIRC).
  25. Same here......
