As Harlock mentioned, being "blue" is only an indicator of one's hostility level and not their playing style (i.e. Defensive or Offensive mode). .....but yeah, in either mode, you are still vulnerable to attack. Defensive merely gives players who use it an edge over indiscriminate attacks. As outlined in an earlier post previewing some of today’s additions, this update brings the option to choose how you interact with players inside the world of Red Dead Online, via Offensive and Defensive playing styles in the Player Menu. The Offensive playing style is set as the default and is how most players traditionally interact in Free Roam – free to engage in hostile contact with other players if you are prepared to accept the potential consequences. The Defensive play style is for those players who would rather explore the world in Free Roam than engage in conflict with others – and it’s designed to let other players know that you don’t want to tangle with them, as well as minimize opportunities for griefing. At the same time, Defensive players will not be alerted to PvP Free Roam missions and can not be pulled into them while in Defensive mode, allowing them to go about their business as freely as possible. Players in Defensive mode will be indicated by a shield icon, will take reduced damage from enemy players, cannot be lassoed, melee attacked, executed or targeted with auto-aim. Defensive players will also be excluded from being targeted in PvP-related missions such as Player Assassination. Those who attack Defensive players receive hefty penalties via the Hostility system., while players who initiate conflict while in Defensive mode will be instantly pulled out of Defensive mode) and also receive similar Hostility penalties. Today’s updates also build on the player radar and visibility improvements introduced in February to create a smarter and more responsive approach to mitigating griefing behavior. The Hostility System tracks aggressive behavior across both Playing Styles, making hostile players visible to others and helping to balance the needs of players who want to get away from others who habitually attack or kill during unstructured Free Roam gameplay. As before, player blips change color - beginning dark blue and transitioning to red as their hostile play persists. A bright red blip indicates an enemy. With today’s update, players will never receive Hostility or Bounty increases for defending themselves against a player who is blipped as an enemy, or for killing high Hostility players. If a player attacks another player, they will not be marked as an enemy to everyone - but rather to the attacked player only, who will not receive a penalty for firing back. You can view your current Hostility level through the Player Menu. As you become more hostile, you become more visible on other player’s radars at longer distances and will respawn further and further away from your point of death – at the highest level of Hostility, you will respawn in a different region. Hostility increases do not apply within structured events such as Free Roam Events, Free Roam Missions, Showdowns and Races. Engaging in PvP behaviors related to Free Roam missions will not incur Hostility increases while in the Offensive playing style, however attacking other players not engaged in the activity will cause your Hostility level to rise.

Ok, now I see what you mean.... Yeah, it says you need to make the purchase within 48 hours of signing up with Twitch Prime. I just did that yesterday and tried to see if there was anything in the store to indicate that the 15% off but saw nothing. I have no idea how that works to be honest and I'm not sure who else around here buys MTXs (Gold Bars) in this game. .....sorry.
-
Not sure what you mean regarding the 15% offer. What's that all about. The Twitch Prime offer is it's own deal.

6/7/19 Benefits For PS4 Red Dead Online Players Announced
Kean_1 replied to Moosh89's topic in Red Dead Online
Take a break until more content is released. That's what I've done and still do. Save your gold. You don't have to spend it right now. I think it's safe to say that there will be more coming this Summer and later this year in regard to new things we can spend it on. I played all the content that released since the Spring Update and now I'm just waiting for the Summer Update to hit. RDO is one of those games I come back to from time to time just like I have with GTAO. -

Remake character what am i going to lose?
Kean_1 replied to Miss_WarHorse's question in Questions & Answers
I've heard that yes, you do lose those things. Why do you want to recreate your character? If it is to change their look, you may want to hold off as R* has already announced that they will be allowing players to change their characters (now permanent) features in the future. -
Not sure. I would imagine you would have to at least log on and join a game first but I don't know how long (if at all) you need to play.
-
I just signed up today (thought I did earlier). They say 24-48 hours so....
-
There's a lot of missing info here..... Try describing the situation so folks can try and help. Just an fyi but Defensive Mode is not a passive mode. You can still be killed by anyone at anytime. It's only supposed to provide an extra edge to help you evade griefers and/or more options in the event you are shot / killed. As for not seeing your attacker, were they invisible or maybe shot you from a distance?

re-create your characters appearance without resetting your game
Kean_1 replied to lumper's topic in Red Dead Online
Updates tend to come every Tuesday for RDO. However, most are typically bonuses, new outfits being offered, PvP events, challenges, etc. Title Updates (TUs) are few and far between and the next one (the Summer Update) will be coming any time between now and the end of Summer. There are no other specifics on it's release as of yet. The TU is likely when we will see the big gameplay changes like the ones mentioned in this thread you are talking about. I post updates in this forum as soon as I see them so stay tuned. -

Cool... Thanks for checking.

I never tried it in the campaign but I don't believe it does. Not quite sure on that one though.

I would suggest downloading the RDR2 app available for both iOS and Android. It allows to you view the map while playing and see other players, waypoints, etc. You can zoom in and out which is great so you don't have to open the big map which can leave you exposed to attack. It also allows you to see what's going on around you while fishing which is great since the minimap is not available in the game during that particular activity. Speaking of attack, in order to avoid random conflict with others in Free Roam, I would also suggest choosing a spawn point in an area of the map that is at least a couple provinces away from where you want to hunt, fish, do missions, etc. The game tends to spawn people into areas with the highest concentration of other players. This simple trick has worked for me since the game was still in beta. .....and still does. Use the defensive mode unless your plan is to engage with others (or have them engage you). While it doesn't prevent you from being attacked, it does give you an edge to allow you to evade and provide more options against aggressors if they happen to shoot you.

Hi Keira and welcome to the forums.
-
I got my phone operating my Bluetooth music right now. .....can't play the video without interrupting that. I'm guessing it is showing that it is possible to get the bonuses without a paid subscription though the free trial or other method?

Hey there @TheyDontCareTheyGotYour$$$, Welcome to RDR2.org. Just an fyi but a lot has changed since this thread was created and last contributed to over 5 months ago. ....but yeah, judging by your username and the tone of your message, I'm guessing you don't care to discuss that. Just a friendly reminder though..... RDR2.org is not affiliated with R* or 2K in any way. This is a fan site where community members / fans of the game help one another with questions, problems, information and/or simply share their RDR2/RDO experiences with one another. It sounds like you've already given up on the game but if you decide to give it a go again, feel free to tap into us a resource, contribute your own ideas/experience, etc.

Hi Go and welcome to the forums. .....and happy fourth. I'm just chillaxing out in my backyard smoking ribs right now listening to music.

If someone can try out that free Twitch Prime trial and see if it allows you to take advantage of the bonus(es), please report back. I appreciate it. I already have Amazon Prime and I don't want to screw something up.
-
@Ozy8753, Yeah, I realize that but the point is for those that have it, Twitch Prime is free. In case you missed it, I also mentioned that you can sign up for the Twitch Prime trial for 30 days for FREE. That may or may not allow you to take advantage of the $300 bonus in RDO. Just trying to help folks out here take advantage of the deal without having to pay for a service they don't want (i.e. Twitch Prime).

Red Dead Online: Your Feedback/Questions/Answers
Kean_1 replied to Moosh89's topic in Red Dead Online
There are some hats I really like but they simply don't offer them in the color I want (e.g. black). Also, some that do might have two versions that either look new or old/worn. ......so unless I want the hat to look old and worn, I can't get the color I want. ....and yeah, the bands on some of them. ....oy vey. -
I bought a black leather duster that has that dark red liner but you can hardly see it unless you happen to see it in a certain light or motion.
