Need to Know What Shirt This is or if It's Even in the Game
Kean_1 replied to Meh's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
They kinda look like thermals. -
That's my point. You don't have to go back into public sessions unless you want to. I've been in public sessions maybe a handful of times but even then it was simply to initiate heists. There is absolutely no benefit for me in that free for all mode as I simply don't enjoy engaging or interacting with randoms. I don't enjoy the "battle"-like, chaotic atmosphere so I simply don't do it. ......that's my point. You don't have to. Call it a cheat, exploit, glitch or whatever but it simply tricks the system into forcing you into what is essentially a private session. Everything else works the same including enemy NPCs who try to stop your progress, etc. Experience or level brackets also mean nothing when you are in your own session or one with your friends as you can play at your own pace. I have also never spent a dime on Shark Cards. ....but again, I enjoy doing those business missions mostly on my own and on rare occasions with friends. .....never with randoms. RDO was different from the onset. Even without the anti-griefing measure they implemented it was never going to be the same as GTAO simply due to significant differences between the two like transportation, weaponry, etc. The proximity mechanics and other changes made even a bigger difference in the gameplay and for the better IMO. I like the direction RDO is going and with the MTU settings, GTAO still provides enough entertainment for me to revisit every now and again. It gave GTAO replay value for me where it would have had none. .....I would have uninstalled it long ago in other words.

Well, your choice. Just providing an option that could help you enjoy the game that you bought. It's not really a "cheat" IMO as I don't use it to gain an advantage on others since I don't choose to engage randoms in the game. However, this way I get to participate in the CEO business activities, make loads of money, buy new weapons/vehicles/aircraft, etc. It's still loads of fun without the involvement of randoms ganging up on me. The issue for me was the fact that the game allowed me and my friends to participate in other activities like MC missions, related businesses, etc. but essentially all the other activities (e.g. CEO and VP) could only be experienced while in a public session. The MTU trick allowed me to continue playing all of the activities without the interference of randoms as I had enjoyed in private sessions. .......still does.

Change your MTU setting in the Network settings from the default 1500 to around 800 - 820. That should put you in a session by yourself or perhaps just a few folks. Works about 90% of the time for me and you usually stay in the session by yourself for quite a while if not the entire session. Even then, if the numbers don't grow, most that are in there with you I find are usually doing the same. .....just doing their business.

Same here..... To top it all off, the campaigns became shorter and less interesting. Replayability in "on the rails" stories is also essentially non-existent for me. Exceptions might be games like The Last of Us. ....a game that was quite long and after a while I might forget certain levels, encounters, etc. that I don't mind exploring again. Even so, I tend to not complete a campaign like that a second time (quitting before I get there). These days, I prefer open world campaigns/stories like the Witcher, GRW, GTA, RDR, etc. where there is much more replay value for me. If CoD made a MW that was open world, I would probably be all over it. I just really have no interest in corridor shooters anymore.

They're not which should be quite obvious after the last few updates if it wasn't before to some people. What was also made clear is that they want to keep this "one size fits all" mode that is Free Roam. ....right, wrong or indifferent. They have no interest in creating separate session options at this time and directly addressed that. I'd be for private or friends-only sessions too but that depends on what is included. If it's anything like GTAO where essentially all CEO and VP activities are locked behind Public sessions, then no. I would rather have what we have now. Personally, I think the anti-griefing measures have helped but for those expecting a truly passive experience in Free Roam, that's simply not going to happen. ....and you can't play the game expecting that any of these options will provide that. Whether that changes in the future, we'll have to see. From my own experience, my issues with griefers are quite rare. .....but then again, I essentially use the same SOPs as I always have in regard to randoms to help avoid being trolled.

As mentioned, this is pretty much common knowledge already and besides, that's something that sets this community apart from some others. ......it's members are mostly welcoming and helpful. If others muscling in on a sweet hunting spot are your concern, spawn into a session at least a couple regions away from Lemoyne and then travel there. The game tends to spawn players in areas with others.

Yeah, looks like a spin on what's already available. Also don't know why they made the ponchos like neckwear.

Are you working off a phone? If so, I have no idea how to create a posse as there doesn't seem to be an option. From the desktop site, it should be pretty apparent the way I described it.
-
No problem.... Go to that link I provided (https://www.rdr2.org/forums/clubs/) and then click on the red button to the right of the screen where it says "Start a Posse". It also looks like a column header. Once you click that I think the rest of it is self explanatory. You enter the posse name, whether you want it to be private, public, etc. .....platform and so on.

If you're in Defensive Mode, use it to your advantage. They may have shot toward you but not at you. Once they hit you then you've got the advantage in fighting back if that's what you want. The mode works best when you're trying to avoid potential threats and for evasion. It's not a passive mode and really can't be treated as a "stand your ground" tactic if you're intentions are truly to avoid conflicts. .....and that's what it really boils down to. You can't just turn it on and expect that you won't be trolled. Personally, I still spawn into a session away from my intended destination and I'll move on when I see other players approaching, give them a wide berth, etc. when I'm in Defensive Mode. I don't know what the chances would be of sweeping another player while in free aim but I'd imagine it wouldn't be very likely. I know I've done it on accident several times while in auto aim though (snapping on to someone nearby instead of my intended target). Personally, I wouldn't be against a trigger in the logic to be based on that. I think that part of it makes sense.

Griefers.... People intent on making your gaming experience frustrating by pestering you, indiscriminately killing you, etc. There are ways to mitigate the problem that comes more naturally as you gain experience, the use of certain tactics, options, etc.
-
Just be aware that while you can go "solo" into RD Online, you still share the session with other human players. ....other players that have the ability to essentially do as they please including trying to kill you if they want. There is no actual "solo" mode. Personally, my suggestion is to find someone or a group you can join in a session with who can show you the ropes. .....what offensive an defensive modes do, what to look out for, how to protect yourself from "griefers", etc.

Asking for Explanation of Lobbies. Does anybody know?
Kean_1 replied to jnaron_ngc's topic in Red Dead Online
Well, ok. Hope you have fun with DS at least. -
I don't see why they don't make hair growth a thing in RDO. It would encourage some folks to spend more time in the game to get that hair style/beard they want and to spend money at the barber especially those looking to keep neat and clean. As it is now, I think I've only been to the barber twice so far.

It s quite possible that you need a shirt that is compatible with those ties. Not all shirts are.

6/7/19 Benefits For PS4 Red Dead Online Players Announced
Kean_1 replied to Moosh89's topic in Red Dead Online
That's exactly what it was. Nothing worth folks getting themselves in a bind about IMO. .....but then again, I wouldn't be buying or playing a game from a company I felt that strongly about. Life is too short. It was apparent PS4 had paid for the right to exclusive before the game released. In the end, these treasure maps will net PS4 players a few extra in-game dollars and gold nuggets each month. .....but then everyone is still going to benefit from the continual promotions for signing on, bonus xp/$/gold for certain activities, etc. in the usual R* fashion. -
Are you a cowboy, fancy dresser, or costume party disaster?
Kean_1 replied to Major Dammidge's topic in Red Dead Online
I'm sort of a gunslinger, fancy dresser. -
I have an original PS4 and don't have issues anywhere near as extreme as what's being described here. Makes me wonder if some are experiencing worse problems than others.

6/7/19 Benefits For PS4 Red Dead Online Players Announced
Kean_1 replied to Moosh89's topic in Red Dead Online
Just a matter of convenience for me. Hay is like 25 cents a piece so I just stop into a stable every other session or so to top off which ends up only being at most a buck or two each time. -
I did a free trial of PSN Now (PS streaming service) and the experience was horrible for me. I have no problem streaming movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime or playing games online but streaming games? ......yeah, with ISPs already throttling people (on the level or not) and looking to set cap limits for more areas, I just don't think the market is ready for a service like this but who knows.

I've watched AoD a few times but believe it or not, I never saw the Big Lebowski. Not that I haven't been interested, I just never got around to it.
-
No. It's not a feature at least at this point. However, in the campaign if you stop to pet dogs they will be friendlier toward you the next time you come in to town from what I recall.
