It's fair to say she's a bit skittish, but she hasn't thrown me for quite a while in a predator attack. I genuinely suspect that there is something going on beneath the 4 level bonding mechanic - she seems to be getting braver. However, it might just be that I am more used to her 'ways' and am managing situations better. Like the Major says, though, if I'm dismounted, and she's not hitched, she'll run a mile from a gunfight.

My Nokota seems to be getting braver all the time, even though I've been riding her solidly for the last 60 or so levels. I was in 'make your own fun' mode last night, and spent a while NE of St Denis, riding along the coast, finding alligators and jumping over them. She didn't bat an eyelid, even when a couple of them snapped at us.🐊

The candy is just empty calories, just like IRL. Get yourself a satchel full of big game meat and wild carrots, all the main food groups covered.

Every PvP game I've ever played has rank unlocks. Take cod as a classic example. You unlock extra, perks, weapons and kit as you rank up. I still remember grinding in cod ww2 to unlock the mp40 with optical sight, then the m1 carbine. I've always liked the idea of a system where at rank 1 you have everything , then as you rank up you progressively lose access to stuff, until at rank100 or whatever you are restricted to the most basic kit. That's the way to level the playing field.

Absolutely. I bought mine, Squirrel, as soon as I unlocked her, and she has been my regular horse ever since. She's a bit nuts, and isn't the best at coming when I whistle, but nothing can outrun her.

Buy one and try it out - a sawed off or double barrelled is cheap enough, if you want to limit your expenditure, and you won't regret it. I never go into a showdown without either a long shotgun (pump or double barrelled depending on how I feel) or dual sawnoffs. I always have my Springfield (HV ammo) for long range, then have either a Litchfield or dual wield revolvers/volcanic pistol (Express ammo) for medium range and, depending on whether its repeater or pistols, the shotgun(s) (standard ammo, not slug) for CQC.

Players in showdown series with blank rank
Harlock1796 replied to Dissention's question in Questions & Answers
I think it's especially a problem if there is a posse in the game - they all gang up to kick someone who's spoiling their fun by beating them. -
Does this now work? I bought improved saddlebags back in December, and they didn't increase my carrying capacity at all (even though they said they would let me carry more hats and outfits). I have been reluctant to blow another $80 unless I know that they work. Thanks

Players in showdown series with blank rank
Harlock1796 replied to Dissention's question in Questions & Answers
In just over 600 showdowns I've voted to kick 3 times, 2 of which people were ghosting, and 1 recently who was doing something that meant you could not lock onto them, and they were invulnerable to damage (their record over 3 games was over 100 kills and zero deaths). I do think there is some value in the kick function, but it might be just as easy to leave the game and re-join another one. I have been kicked twice, both of which were after I had won a game, either Name Your Weapon or Most Wanted. Just bad losers, I think. -
You can use them to buy anything. The exchange rate is basically 1 gold bar =$20. Look in the bottom right corner for the button to press to "buy with gold" or something like that.

Players in showdown series with blank rank
Harlock1796 replied to Dissention's question in Questions & Answers
I do. People with no rank number have been voted to be kicked. It doesn't have to be you that voted to kick, but someone has. Next time you see it, take a look, I promise that someone has voted to kick them. -

If someone has voted to kick you your rank disappears from your badge. Don't know why, though. -
online horse bonding, starts over everytime?

Yep! -
online horse bonding, starts over everytime?
Harlock1796 replied to lumper's question in Questions & Answers
A certain way to fix your horse bonding is to visit a stable. If you go in and come back out again, your bonding level will be put back to where it should be. Don't know why it works, but it does. It's still damned annoying, though. -
Spoiils of War...how do you pick up an enemy bag?
Harlock1796 replied to SamBiscuit's question in Questions & Answers
Except for sometimes. I wonder whether I had some bugged games early on, because I have had situations where 2 or even 3 members of my team have had bags at the same time, but for the past few days it has definitely been 1 bag at a time. One game in the orchard we won 19 deliveries to nil, and all 3 of us could hold bags simultaneously. -
Ugrading Saddlebags - what does it give you?
Harlock1796 replied to DLKnives's question in Questions & Answers
Anyone tried upgraded saddlebags recently? I didn't see anything in any of the patch notes, but just checking whether I missed it and these are now fixed? -
The point is that these sorts of updates are incredibly easy to implement - the game design will have an inbuilt PvP mode creator. the work experience kid can knock up a new PvP mode in his lunch hour. My son plays Overwatch, and that game has a game mode editior built in - any player can create their own PvP game mode in about 10 minutes by selecting a series of parameters from a tick box list. Has anyome else noticed that the PvP game modes now (if they didn't before) show who created them? - currently R* for all of them, but mark my words, player designed showdowns are part of the RDO future.

Ghosting is a thing, and I've gotten cross about it before now (see my thread on the topic!) but people need to know the difference between glitch abuse and the physical mechanics of the game that 'ghost' you automatically once you're in the safe zone! As the others have said, don't sweat it. Either that guy isn't reporting you, or he's reporting everyone for equally lame reasons - the net effect being the same.
-
Ghosting part 2... With the arrival of the new showdown mode - spoils of war (which I really enjoy, BTW) , I have notice a new variation on the ghosting thing. Of course, in Spoils of War, once you've got a bag, not being targetable is a huge advantage. On a number of occasions I have seen characters running around, picking up a bag and running back to their base with some serious glitching going on. They are in deadeye, you can't target them, and their character looks 'fuzzy' not ghosting like someone in a store, but more like poor reception on on old fashioned TV. If it wasn't for the visual effect, I would think that the non-targetability was to do with Slippery Bastard, although the time it lasts on some people - I've not actually timed it, but I've definitely seen 40+ seconds continuously, but I think there is something else going on. Even with top tier slippery bastard, surely you can't last that long in deadeye, without at least stopping running to drink a snake oil or something. A guy last night (level 240+) was in my game for 3 games, in which time he racked up 108 kills and zero deaths. Feels like more than just good play. Anyone else noticed this?

When you push down on the d pad it gives you all sorts of information - the time, temperature, your bank balance etc. it also shows your name. When I do it, my name is blue. Is that because I'm tediously honourable, or is it the same for everyone? Maybe someone who is firmly in the red zone could try that, and see if their name comes up blue or red. If no-one has tried, and posted the result here, by the time I get home, maybe I'll go on a killing spree, rack up a bounty, and see if that makes a difference. apologies if you get in my way later, its all in the spirit of scientific research!

avoid the bullets by throwing yourself to the ground in PvP mode
Harlock1796 replied to peppino79's question in Questions & Answers
Ah, Good call - I've been wondering how they do that too, but PIB would make sense. -
I was a sucker for this- spent 2 gold (I think) on the hitched skirt. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have done so if it wasn't limited time only. I didn't want to miss it more than I wanted to have it, but the result is the same. Damn you R* and your marketing genius.

I have literally only suffered one disconnect, and I've played almost every day since day 1. I'm pushing 200 hours online. I'm on Xbox, and have a very good internet connection (average 150mbps), I don't know whether that makes a difference. Hope something sorts out for you.

Sarcasm mode engaged (/) You're reading it wrong! "challenging" other players obviously means waiting until they are skinning an animal, or doing some fishing, and then shooting them in the back with a shotgun. Another good way of "challenging" other players is to crouch on the roof of the stables in Valentine, and snipe them when they visit the butcher. This is the Wild West, this is what it should be like! Sarcasm mode disengaged (/)
