  1. I'd personally hate it if Rockstar implemented the Passive Mode from GTA Online as for me it was more like a game breaking glitch than a feature, I'd much prefer it if they just had Friendly Freeroam and Normal Freeroam like in Red Dead Redemption's Multiplayer. I loved using my environment and surroundings to win battles in RDR'S Multiplayer, when playing Red Dead Online I don't want to pin someone behind a rock with gunfire or shoot someone to low health just for them to go in Passive Mode run towards to me to kill me or run away so they can try again in 5 minutes. I just don't think players should get second chances like that in multiplayer shootouts or have what is essentially God Mode in Red Dead Online as it can totally destroy the immersion and/or fun for anyone who's playing with them.
  2. Yeah I'm looking forward to learning more about him, from first impressions he doesn't seem very trustworthy and I wouldn't be surprised if he betrays Arthur or the Van der Linde Gang at some point but that's speculation based purely on his demeanour and quote from Trailer 3. "Sons of Dutch. Makes us brothers. Sometimes... brothers make mistakes."
  3. This would be cool, from looking at the trailers and screenshots we can assume there'll be knife customization in RDR 2 as in some screenshots Arthur is seen carrying what looks to be a bone handle knife and in others a wood handle knife although this may just be change made in the development of the game.
  4. It's a real drag waiting for more news now that everything that could be said about our most recent batch of information has already been said, I couldn't help but be hyped looking through the recent trailer, screenshots and previews. The realistic route Rockstar is taking with RDR 2 interests me a lot and I'm personally hoping the realistic gameplay mechanics they've shown in previews and talked about are included in Red Dead Online. I thought Trailer 3 gave us a great look at the atmosphere of RDR 2 and the sense of encroaching government and the end of the Wild West, we also got a better look at some of the returning characters from RDR as well as the new characters we'll get to know in RDR 2. We caught a glimpse of what many people including myself believe to be Edgar Ross standing next to what appears to be our main antagonist in RDR 2, I am greatly looking forward to seeing what role Edgar Ross will play in RDR 2 but I'm even more interested to learn about who I'm guessing is our main antagonist. I'm curious whether we'll see similarities between how this unknown antagonist acts throughout the story and how Edgar Ross acted in RDR as I get the impression that this unknown antagonist will be somewhat of a mentor to Edgar Ross throughout RDR 2 much like how Edgar Ross was a mentor to Archer Fordham in RDR, the possible demise of this unknown antagonist may even be a secondary reason for Edgar Ross's conviction in taking down the Van der Linde in Red Dead Redemption. Looking at the image above maybe this unknown antagonist will be the catalyst for Dutch adopting the Semi-automatic pistol which was something I always found weird in RDR as Dutch always spoke like a someone stuck in the past wanting things to be back the way the were Something that immediately stood out for me about this unknown antagonist is that he bears a close resemblance to the late Pete Postlethwaite, I don't believe he was particularly well known in the States (although some Americans might remember him from Jurassic Park) but in England he was regarded as one of our best character actors. Charles Smith who is described by various previews as one of the younger members of the Van der Linde Gang and Sadie Adler are two other characters I'm also eager to learn more about. We didn't have much interaction with Native Americans in RDR, the only Native American John Marston had extended dialogue with was Nastas who I found quite interesting but unfortunately he quickly got his head hollowed out which subsequently ended his story and made him far less interesting. Sadie Adler seems to be a far cry from the female characters in RDR as from the best of my knowledge there were no female outlaws in RDR, the trailers imply she has a strong bond with Arthur Morgan and she is shown fighting alongside John Marston in multiple screenshots but not much is really known about her at this point. In trailers and screenshots she always seems to be sporting a gun belt unique to her with a handgun holster on the right side and a larger holster on the left possibly designed to carry a shortened rifle or shotgun although I've not seen a single image where she is carrying a weapon in it. The last thing I'm currently excited about is the depth of clothing, hair and weapon customization Rockstar seem to be implementing in RDR 2, from trailers to screenshots to artwork Arthur's facial hair has changed a fair amount and clothing on Arthur has changed as well and even shown weathering. Across all the trailers and screenshots I've seen multiple versions of the same guns and knives so I there's no doubt in my mind that players will be able to have a style and loadout for Arthur that is all their own.
  5. I would not be surprised if Red Dead Redemption II opened with the Blackwater Massacre as the description given by Rockstar for Trailer 3 states, "After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive." Whether we'll see Heidi McCourt is still up for debate as that would mean the game's story would have to span from 1899 to 1906 when John Marston got shot and left for dead, if the game's story does indeed take place over several years I think it would be amazing and unless I'm mistaken it would be a first for Rockstar. The blonde man in the trailers is Micah Bell, one of Dutch's favoured gunmen. His name as well as the names of many other unnamed characters from the trailers was revealed to various journalists when Rockstar gave previews of the game.
  6. Not a weapon per se but I'd love to have a detachable shoulder stock for my revolvers similar to what Lee Van Cleef's Colonel Mortimer has in For A Few Dollars More.
  7. A lot of information has come out in the recent previews, GTA Series Videos has done a video breaking down all the various previews and it's definitely an interesting watch. The latest info on customization says that you'll be able to sport different facial hair but you'll have to grow it out first and choose what parts of your face you want shaved instead of just having a beard or moustache appear outta no where.
  8. Yeah, I've spoken to many Americans that hold the same view as you do on assault rifles. In my view, assault rifles are the weapons of war and I would not be able to justify a weapon like that for home defence. I understand why the United States has held on to it's right to bear arms but in all honesty I think that some of the guns and types of magazines you can legally purchase is a major problem.
  9. You can change or repeal an amendment and make new amendments to The Constitution, the 2nd Amendment was put in place to protect the peoples right to bear arms, the reason that amendment and all other amendments are there in the first place is because the United States deemed a change to The Constitution necessary. I personally believe the United States should seriously consider changing their laws regarding firearms and the control of said firearms but unfortunately I think that the question of how to deal with mass shootings is something that the people of the United States will never agree on an answer to, many Americans love their guns and gun culture is ingrained in many parts of the country. That's just the opinion of someone from London, England and I'm sure there are United States citizens here who know far more about this issue than me but I thought I may as well give my two cents.
  10. Red Dead Redemption had some cool Easter Eggs, most of them referenced either classic western films or events and notable people from the frontier era. There were campfire segments where the travellers talked about events and characters from Red Dead Revolver which was a nice nod to the previous game. It's pretty difficult to even contemplate what Easter Eggs might be in Red Dead Redemption II but I'm sure Rockstar will include some very clever and interesting Easter Eggs for the community to find, they have so much film and history they could draw inspiration from. I would not be surprised if they included some Easter Eggs referencing Red Dead Redemption although with the game being a prequel I don't think they'll be any Easter Eggs pertaining to characters and events, we might be more likely to just see or hear about characters from Red Dead Redemption throughout the story. I liked the spooky Easter Eggs Rockstar put into Red Dead Redemption. Personally, I think it would be cool if in Red Dead Redemption II at night in a certain area Ghost Riders would appear in the sky referencing the classic song.
  11. I'm thinking 80 - 90% will use the online component, I'm definitely gonna hop on Red Dead Online and see how it plays but if it turns out to be a game of Passive Mode and explosive spamming I'm gonna be hopping straight back to Singleplayer.
  12. Rockstar may arm some enemies with bows to make combat interesting but based on the trailers and screenshots most people are speculating that this game will take place in the 1890's when most Native Americans had guns although I don't think the line said by the Native American in the trailer pertains to needing an actual gun (firearm) I assume he means they need another gun (gunman/accomplice).
  13. Although it sucks that Rockstar had to stab us with another sharp delay this is one of those things Rockstar are known for and many were predicting a move like this back in November but at least we got some new screenshots, I like the fourth one where you can see the snow sticking to their boots and the horses' breath in the cold.
  14. I see where your coming from YodaMan, although I love how GTA Online is this savage utopia where players can kill and steal from each other for personal gain but are also rewarded for working together I've often thought about how hard it would be for someone to start GTA Online now at level 1 and work their way up. I feel like Red Dead Redemption's Multiplayer was a far more even playing field, they didn't have the stats system that GTA Online has so everyone had the same Health, Accuracy, Stamina etc. Weapons were unlocked by level but you could also pick up weapons (either from Gang Hideouts or the dead bodies of players and NPCs) and use them from session to session until you quit multiplayer or the game, there was also no tanks, jets etc only horses and a handful of vehicles all of them being horse powered and susceptible to bullets. It's impossible to know how Red Dead Online will pan out, for me personally a lot of Red Dead Online's appeal will depend on the community that plays it. I'm hoping for a fairly mature audience, such was the case with Red Dead Redemption that had far less kids on it than Grand Theft Auto V. I think Red Dead Redemption II will be a must have game for the Singleplayer Story alone and certainly not a waste of money but if Red Dead Online is all you want from Red Dead Redemption II then I'd suggest waiting on more information from Rockstar.
  15. From October 2013 to May 2015 if I was on my Xbox I was more often than not playing Grand Theft Auto Online, I enjoyed it but the main reason I played it was because Red Dead Redemption's Multiplayer had started to deteriorate rapidly and Rockstar gave next to no information about whether they would, could or wanted to get RDR's Multiplayer working again so I was forced to switch over to GTA Online. I was most looking forward to Free Roam and at first I assumed GTA Online to be like GTA IV's Multiplayer and RDR's Multiplayer as all three can be put under the category of "third-person multiplayer shooter" and that's what I was looking forward to but unlike GTA IV's Multiplayer and RDR's Multiplayer where players can improve their gun skill with practise to defeat other players GTA Online makes guns useless, military tanks and jets are easily accessible and little to no effort is needed to wipe out a lobby in GTA Online especially with all the high tech military weapons, gear and vehicles that have been flowing into GTA Online following the success of the GTA Online Heists Update. I accept that Grand Theft Auto isn't meant to be realistic and I think it's over the top action and crazy vehicles among other things is what makes the Grand Theft Auto Series great but I really feel there has been a major shift with the kind of updates GTA Online has received, it's almost like Rockstar won't put out an update unless it's got a weaponized vehicle in it. GTA Online feels more like a third-person Battlefield game nowadays. Another issue I have is that Rockstar don't seem to want to fix things that obviously don't work in GTA Online, there are countless wall breach glitches as well Passive Mode which I've seen mostly being used to attack or grief other players and I know many players use it because they just wanna drive around in peace but players were able to do that in GTA IV's Freeroam and RDR's Freeroam by means of a Friendly Freeroam which I think worked perfectly fine in both games. YodaMan and others have mentioned the toxicity present in GTA Online, I think for some reason or another people feel they have more to lose if they die in GTA Online than if they died in GTA IV or RDR and I also think there's a higher level of competitiveness in GTA Online. I'm sure we've all come across the Bulletproof Helmet wearing tryhard that kills themselves constantly to protect their precious K/D Ratio or the sweaty pilot who is only seen out of Passive Mode when they're strafing you in their jet and although players like this do ruin the game for many in my opinion they're only there because Rockstar allows them to be there, Rockstar enables them by refusing to tweak game mechanics or fix in game exploits. My hope is that with Red Dead Online Rockstar not only listens to the feedback they've got from GTA Online but actively listens to feedback they get from Red Dead Online regarding bugs and game mechanics after it drops.
  16. I loved Red Harlow and all the wacky, zany characters in Red Dead Revolver but in terms of Red Dead Redemption I'd say my favourite characters other than John Marston were Drew MacFarlane, Espinoza, Uncle, Nastas and Landon Ricketts. I didn't care much for Jack Marston as a character but I'm ultimately glad he was in the game, John having a wife and son added something to his character and I feel Jack Marston was the best solution to allow players to carry on playing the game after John's spectacular exit. There isn't any characters that come to mind when trying to think of a least favourite character, I feel Rockstar is very good at making even the most vile and annoying characters like Captain Vincente de Santa and Colonel Agustin Allende fun to hate so that when they get their comeuppance it's that much more satisfying.
  17. Loving the NIN and Offspring tunes, haven't listened to either of them in a while, I remember first listening Self Esteem and Come Out And Play when I was quite young and playing them on repeat. Been listening to a lot of music from my childhood that I was brought up on as well as some songs I've only heard recently. Hope everyone had a great New Year.
  18. I personally wouldn't mind if they made the story about Arthur Morgan's redemption although I don't want redemption to be something Arthur is actively searching for at the start of the game, in Red Dead Redemption John Marston was on a path of redemption from the start of the game so it limited how much character development we got to see. John Marston was in my opinion one of the greatest video game characters of all time and although him and others would talk of how he was when he rode with Dutch's Gang we as the player never got to see that switch/transition to how he acts and behaves in Red Dead Redemption so I'd much prefer for Red Dead Redemption II to start with Arthur being the worst of the worst, the quintessential no nonsense outlaw and murderer. I think it would even be interesting if throughout the game he never sought redemption and instead the opportunity for redemption presented itself to him at the very end of the game.
  19. This was all found in the game files on the 12th but Rockstar have now activated this challenge for all GTA Online players and it just goes to show how easily Rockstar can get me back on the RDR2 hype train. http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60320/Uncover-the-Double-Action-Revolver I think this is a great way to link the two games and get people hyped as well as a nice way to help those who need it with a cash bonus.
  20. Looking over the trailer at first glance I'm seeing so much, the environment looks stunning and I was especially impressed by the scale of it all. I can't structure any of what I've seen into a paragraph so I'm just gonna rattle off all the things I've noticed so far. 0:04 - Campfires from Red Dead Redemption used to Save and Fast Travel could possibly be making a return. 0:10 - Very scenic shot of our protagonist Arthur Morgan riding towards what seems to be a small shack and a fire. 0:14 - No clue who this is but judging by what our protagonist says he possibly owes the Van der Linde Gang money and may be avoiding them by living in the wilderness. 0:25 - The way dirt falls off the stagecoach wheels as they turn shows incredible attention to detail. 0:27 - Another shot of Morgan, this time travelling through the centre of an unknown town with various stores and buildings in the background including a Drug Store, Gunsmiths and a Sherriff's Office. I also like the detail that can be seen in the muddy dirt road, puddles forming in the tracks of horses and wagons. 0:32 - Can't make out the name on the grave but the way the sun shines through the trees looks great. 0:34 - This young man being threatened is most likely the son of the woman crying by the grave in the previous shot. 0:35 - Here we get our first close up of Arthur Morgan while he's threatening the son of the dead man he or the Van der Linde Gang could possibly of killed. 0:38 - Seems Rockstar ditched the basic "2" and decided to go with the Roman numerals "II" instead, very similar to Mafia II's colour and style. 0:40 - This shot which is very reminiscent of a scene in the film "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford " shows what I'm assuming to be the Van der Linde Gang laying in wait to rob the train armed with Revolvers and Sawn-Off Shotguns. 0:41 - This next shot which is also reminiscent of the aforementioned film shows Arthur Morgan most likely standing on a makeshift barricade or wagon put in place to stop the train, the sparks of the train stopping look amazing combined with the smoke bellowing out from underneath. 0:43 - Another close up of Morgan, apart from the fire not much is visible behind him which makes me wonder if some form of light will be required to see at night when the moon is obscured. 0:44 - Possibly a later shot of the before seen train robbery shows Morgan pistol-whipping a man to the ground while two men walk towards him with one of them possibly being Bill Williamson judging by the distinctive hat. 0:46 - Great shot of a snow covered forest with tracks being made in the snow and the same Bill Williamson looking character riding rear right. 0:48 - The shadows of the window bars look so sharp in this shot as Morgan throws what I'm assuming to be the Bank Manager through the door. 0:50 - I wanted to focus on Morgan robbing the bank at gun point because it looks really exciting but all I could do was look top right and wonder to myself "Who the hell hangs a photo like that?". 0:51 - This guy looks badass, no clue who he could be but I'm guessing he's in cahoots with Morgan and/or the Van der Linde Gang. 0:53 - Morgan and an accomplice boarding a train as it comes out of a tunnel. 0:57 - A shot of Morgan wearing a bandana but with a different hat and a winter coat as well as some fingerless gloves, he seems to be carrying a Schofield Revolver but it has a different grip from the ones we've seen previously in screenshots so hopefully this means gun customization. 0:58 - Morgan brawling with someone outside a barbers that hopefully we'll be able to use to customize our character. 1:00 - I'm looking forward to seeing animals going after each other this time around instead on constantly going after me. 1:01 - Two men led by Morgan carrying a lantern wade through a swamp possibly in an attempt to sneak up on their enemy. 1:02 - I was pleased to see the bow and arrow make a return from Red Dead Revolver, I'm guessing it'll come in handy during stealth missions and for hunting wild animals although in this shot it seems that he misses his target. 1:06 - Morgan helping his unknown accomplice from 0:53 back onto the train. 1:09 - Stealth takedowns with a knife similar to Red Dead Redemption. 1:10 - Safes being blown open with explosives as Morgan walks away like a badass and as seen in the previous trailer and screenshots we seems to be getting rifle slings instead of back holsters this time around. 1:13 - First look at Dutch who we now know by his rings was the dual wielding gunman in the screenshot we got when the game was delayed. 1:14 - This shot shows Morgan and what appears to be Bill Williamson on the left, I don't know who the guy in the middle is but judging by the fact that he hasn't got a gun, is dressed in fine clothes with a pocket watch and is walking in front of the Morgan and Williamson he may be getting taken hostage. His clothes change throughout the trailer but most of the time it'll be something slight like his coat being removed so I don't know if we're getting layered clothing like GTA or if it'll be outfits like Red Dead Redemption. I think this trailer is great, really gets me excited for the games release in Spring. We know now the voice throughout the first trailer was Morgan's but I still have know idea who he was telling to "run and don't look back" in the first trailer as from the looks of this trailer he's ruthless and cares for money above all else.
  21. Well, if I wasn't hyped before I sure as shit am now. The second trailer blew me away, even in a 1 and a half minute trailer Rockstar packed too much stuff to write about and ponder over right now but I will be commenting on this post with what I've noticed from the trailer and my thoughts on this upcoming masterpiece. - Archbell
  22. I certainly hope Red Dead Redemption 2's Online outshines GTA Online, I personally didn't care too much for GTA Online and preferred Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer. GTA Online feels like a third-person Battlefield game these days with all the military DLC but even before that I wasn't keen on how GTA Online rewarded combat using explosives rather than gunplay and for me Passive Mode felt like a game-breaking exploit which really put me off the game. Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer on the other hand kept explosives to a minimum which encouraged gunplay and using your environment/surroundings to your advantage, I'm hoping to see a return to this type of gameplay. I highly doubt we'll see anything about Red Dead Redemption 2's Online tomorrow but at this point I'm just glad we're finally gonna see something.
  23. I agree, they'll want people to double dip just like a large majority did with GTA V. I'm solely a console gamer so I'm not affected by this but I hope they don't make the PC community wait too long although I wouldn't put it past Rockstar to wait till Fall 2019/Spring 2020 to release RDR2 for PC.
  24. I thought ammo refills worked fine in RDR Multiplayer but I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar went the same route as GTA online with RDR2 by making all clothing and gun stores in Singleplayer accessible in Online. I do hope they keep every player's ammo and explosives capacity low, there's no danger of running out of ammo or explosives in GTA Online because you can carry a ridiculous 9,999 rounds on most guns and if your far from a gun store you can buy your ammo and explosives on the Interaction Menu. You could carry 100 rounds in RDR Multiplayer and you got given ammo upon respawning unlike GTA Online, even if they made a ammo system similar to GTA Online in RDR2 I personally wouldn't change the ammo and explosive capacity from what players had in RDR Multiplayer as it kept people from camping for too long and stopped people spamming explosives unlike GTA Online.
  25. Forming a posse with my pals and roaming the plains evading the Law and killing other players, I'm hoping it's not too similar to GTA Online because I don't wanna see any Passive Mode BS but I look forward to seeing what they bring over from Red Dead Redemption's Multiplayer as well as what new features they add.
