Oh I didn't take it that way at all, friend. Sorry my choice of words had you thinking otherwise
-
I had an error on Rockstar's Support form when trying to submit a bug report too... Hopefully that's not another "bug" lol
-
I'm about 95% sure I waved, I mean there could have been a small chance of error on my part, but I'm a pretty proficient waver lol
-
I tried reporting it as a bug but there was an error with my submission. It kept telling me to recheck the fields and try again but perhaps my explanation was simply too brief. Was just playing again since my last post, did a mission, got the letter from Horley out at Benedict Point, and read it, then it crashed again. Super frustrating.

Sadly there's still not an Accessibility toggle to simplify reeling for fishing (such as an auto-reel button hold) so fishing in Singleplayer and multiplayer is still not possible for me. Really sucks because today I have 3 fishing related daily challenges Also, I noticed a weird consequence of waving to another player... I walked into Smithfields Saloon in Valentine and a player waved at me, so I waved back, suddenly I took an honour penalty marked "Antagonize"... guess an NPC didn't like it? weird...

How do you suggest I report it to Rockstar? It doesn't seem to fit as a bug as it can't really positively be reproduced, I was doing something different each time it happened. Glad this thread is useful!

I did some googling and apparently this is due to server demand on Rockstar's end. It's happened every time I've tried playing since I was able to update to 1.09 (Spring update) yesterday. I send a report through PSN each time. It really sucks because I just get into enjoying myself and it happens. I got killed by two griefers in Valentine's Smithfield Saloon so me and another blueberry tag teamed the griefing duo. We wiped them both out and one came back, I capped him off the rooftop of the stable and I was LOVING it because I wasn't getting a hostility increase or bounty since they started it. then my game crashed for the second time in 2 hours. Do you think my PSN error reports are sufficient, or should I open a ticket with Rockstar Support? Posting about it here to inform other potential players afflicted.

I don't think I'm upset, rather surprised. I feel like there's a sizeable percentage of the player base that feels there is a lack of content and especially when things are dribbled out. Someone brought up how many variations of "Grab the bag" game modes there were rather than some different PVP modes. Over the last month and a half I feel like I've played too many of the same modes so much that I can't remember which is which because they're all so similar. Not wanting to play the deja vu game on our Moderators by turning this into a "this game is dead" (over exaggeration) debate. I was at least hoping we'd get another rundown of what's to come since we've chewed through the last timeline given.

Topic says it all. I haven't bothered signing on all last week since last week's "update" was pretty stagnant. Was hoping something that was drip-fed today may make up for it, but damn, nothing?? My interest is drifting further awaaaay...

I wish I could actually catch something bigger than 1lb. but until they add an optional accessibility toggle that auto-reels by holding a button, I cannot fish in singleplayer (so long, 100% completion) or multiplayer. I've written in and was given the old "I've forwarded your suggestion to the developers for consideration" months ago. If it's not a thing by this "Spring update", I'll be writing in again. I got excited a few weeks ago when they released the "spinner lure" but alas, it did not do what I had hoped and isn't available in singleplayer either... Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy this free roam event sometime. I have yet to see it come up for me though

A lot of the challenges actively encourage griefing/cheap shots, unfortunately. The other day I noticed 2 red dot players in a posse lassoing a blue dot who was AFK and dragging him. I killed them in defense of the player who was being dragged and they seemed to return to their controller. These two moved on and I chased them a ways before letting them go. About 10 minutes later I noticed they appeared to be fishing just by looking at the map. I rode down to them and circled, came back and chucked 2 or 3 dynamite sticks at them for a challenge of "Kill 3 players with thrown weapons from horseback". They got pissed and came at me hard with their best weapons lol. One even messaged me (I never responded). It seems they thought they were something to grief, but when I griefed them back, they got super pissed hahaha I let them kill me over and over, by just standing and waving at them to let them know I didn't give a s**t. One player was level 38 so I figured he'd think he was cool and get some XP, but his posse leader was around level 235 and killed me way more times than the level 38 guy did. I probably sat there taunting them by waving/"I'm hit!"ing for about an hour before I got bored and parleyed hahaha.

This comment if giving me life 😂😁

I'm conflicted over this Initially I had the same thought about: "Oh awesome *sarcasm*. Now even more people will have access sooner to high powered stuff to grief with rather than use in PvP." Then I thought about those who've played intently all this time to naturally level up to these rewards and how absolutely sh***y it must feel to see everyone else get them easily. Now I'm only level 36. It would be nothing to sit here all evening grinding out Plunder to hit rank 40 for those horses. Rank 60 could be achieved if I played every night this week. I won't deny the temptation is there. Granted I've felt less inclined to play these last few weeks. I honestly feel this is a smart-but-di*k move by Rockstar who've noticed the playerbase is drifting to other games. This is them dangling the carrot, but at what cost? Simple. Gold purchases. There's no way you can play normally to rank up and earn enough cash to collectively buy these items, be it horses, stalls, saddles, and pamphlets. The temptation has just jumped to throw in $20 or so to get some gold bars. And to boot, you're feeling a little tug to jump back online to take this "great opportunity" up. (at least I'm speaking for myself, but I refuse to buy gold) I also feel like I'd rather wait for the satisfaction of achieving these at their normal rank requirements.

Yes, for example on days where you need to kill 2 roosters, plenty other players also have the same challenges and there are no roosters to be had anywhere. I think what's happening is somebody in the lobby gets lucky and gets to them first and then they never respawn. Often I'll notice players going to the rooster/chicken areas, walk in and stand there, defeated. I've messaged them quickly asking if they too are there for a rooster or chicken and every time they say "OMG, YES!". I listed their spawn locations and asked if they've checked those places too. I always get told that nobody ever sees any animals at McFarlane's Ranch. I had to get quails once, none spawned and I've found that if you kill birds especially from too far away, they despawn before you get to them, adding the frustration that they also will never spawn in again no matter how long you wait or how far you go and come back. Herbs on the other hand work great for respawning. If you find a small area with a variety of herbs you can pick them, leave the area a fairly short distance and immediately come back and they're all respawned again.

Decaying playing base maybe a blessing in disguise
Moosh89 replied to HuDawg's topic in Red Dead Online
Agreed. Out of all my friends who picked it up, I'm the only one left playing but these last 2 weeks I've felt less and less like playing. My friends all say they won't return until possibly after the Spring update releases when more missions come. The dripfeeding needs to stop. All of these new modes and free roam events should have released together. I also hate how nothing has been done with the singleplayer. -
Man, we should add each other then because the only reason I play with my headset muted is the fact that I sound like a prepubescent boy even though I am in fact a nearly 30 year old woman hahaha

I think the daily challenges often spur people into "griefing"-type behaviour. The other day I had 3 daily challenges which were "5 player kills with Pump Action Shotgun", "5 player kills with Double Barreled Shotgun" and "Play 2 Free Roam Events". It wasn't long and I ended up in a Sidearm Kills challenge free roam event, so I quickly got my pump action kills in there before the event actually started. Then I had to wait for another free roam event and my gaming time was winding down for the evening. I wanted to get the double barrel kills in another free roam event instead of cycling through the annoying "Make it Count" type modes, so I decided to approach red dots in free roam to see if they were hostile... Here's how it went... LOL: I casually rode to the first red dot I found, and began picking herbs nearby, waiting for them to kill me so I could try to kill them. They were hunting deer. He walks up to me, and drops a Good deer pelt at my feet, waves and leaves... Uhhh... OK! I spotted a blue dot riding on a train, so I figured I'd ride alongside it in case they needed kills from a moving train. I got up beside them and suddenly somebody riding on the other side of the train killed me with a bolt action. I only managed 2 or 3 kills on him with the damn double barrel and he killed me countless times with the bolt action at a distance. We both got bored and moved on. I rode to Valentine and along the road, a purple player had a red player hogtied and over his shoulder. I slowed down to see if he'd try me. He raised his revolver and I pulled my double barrel and he turned around and started in the other direction. I decided to let rip hoping I'd nail both players for my last 2 kills but only one counted. Then there was another red player driving a coach (not in a mission) so I blasted him. I let them kill me after then went and paid my bounty at the nearby post office. My point being, All the players who I HOPED would be a troll turned out chill, and the true trolls were the blue dots! Like another time I was peacefully bow hunting and a blue dot rode up, stopped 2 feet in front of me and planted an arrow in my face, then galloped away lol.

Anyone know why Improved Arrows aren't a thing in Online? The bow is my go to hunting weapon but without Improved Arrows, it's impossible to down a Massive class animal
-
Yep, the one I mentioned was a Hamish mission. I had to return a wagon stolen by Murfrees - so it definitely still works Neat that he gives different missions that spawn it
-
Every few levels gained you get a treasure map delivered to your lockbox or post office. I've not found one from a hideout ever, but I did a stranger mission and looted an enemy I killed during it and was shocked to find one

THIS!!! Structured "challenge" would be awesome in this, you can accept or decline. "Player23" is challenging you to a fist fight. ACCEPT/DECLINE "Player23" is challenging you to a duel... "Player23" is challenging you to a showdown... If you decline and Player23 kills you anyway, MAJOR HOSTILITY increase/honor reduction to Player23, bounty too for murder. If you accept, you two go at it for a set duration, after that is over and the victor declared, no hostility increase/honor boost and go on your way.

I really like this idea of item sharing/trading between players. Initially I thought ammo/tonic trading between posse members may be useful , especially on missions, etc.
-
Seems to be weekly with resets on Tuesdays. No way to tell which items will come next or when certain items will return (yet)

I spat! 😂 Best moderator "No" ever hahaha. You earned that star, sir... you wear it proudly! But yep, they definitely did change the original narrative, but every game goes through these types of major changes before releasing. Some remnants are bound to still be present within the code. My brother is convinced somewhere there's a hidden ending where Arthur lives, but it just hasn't been found yet. I'd like to believe that but deep down I don't think there is.

I actually really like how it is currently, so I'll probably flag as Offensive mainly. I give a wide swath around hostile "raspberries" but most of the time it's the damn "blueberries" that kill me for no reason. Sometimes I get lucky though and meet a friendly one who'll greet me with a wave and be on their way. I usually play with a headset but muted so I can hear players chat. I ran into a blueberry who I helped clear a hideout. Turns out it was a little boy probably around 9 years old (similar age to my nephew). At first I was a bit annoyed that somebody had their 9 year old kid on a Mature game, online with a headset unsupervised, but then my heart crunched when he started thanking me profusely for helping him and not being "a big jerk" and killing him lol. I attempted to follow him to watch over him for a bit so he could enjoy himself but he grew suspicious of me so I waved and left and went on my way lol
