I don't have a fishing rod yet, and when I do get one I may not bother using it - as I find reeling the right stick adequately to be difficult with my disabilities. Instead I've discovered I can fish more easily using throwing knives LOL - sure you damage the fish (smaller ones especially) but they still add up. Simply find a spot low enough to wade into, aim and throw, instant kill, fishy goes belly up and you get your knives back when you pick them up. Caught a big one last night up by Window Rock, needed to toss it onto my horse to ride it back to Valentine

Excuse my dumb question, but this topic seems a good place for it: Player blips - Some are dots and some are 4-point stars. Combative players are red, and the rest are pink. What is the distinction of the 4-point stars? Is that somebody on a mission? (I'm assuming so, but want to be sure)

Wait... you can SELL *Wild* horses in Online? 😮

Quality thread, and quality replies. I hope you guys are using Rockstar's feedback forms: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback Don't forget you can tailor the form to fit your suggestions, and you can submit as many as you like. This is the best way to have Rockstar consider these awesome ideas Please continue to discuss and formulate your ideas here too though! An idea I submitted that hasn't been mentioned in this thread here yet: - Hotels: Renting a room should be available in major towns/cities. This gives the player the ability to "rest" in a nice bed for a few seconds (60 tops) to fully restore AND fortify all (gold) cores for a day. You then can change clothes as well.
-
I largely agree with your points, would be nice to respond with "Howdy", "...Fellers", "Ma'am/Mister" to NPCs. Coming from SP, I constantly respond to passerbys so to be unable to in MP is annoying. Especially would be nice to "Defuse" when semi-aggressive NPCs get agitated when passing and they pull their irons out. (or Antagonize, if that's your flavour) Bathing would be nice, as my character is often dirty. I can see why there's no Hotel use in MP because you can't advance time. Perhaps you can rent a room and lay on the bed for a few seconds to recover your cores, without manipulating time. Then you have the opportunity to change clothes or would be funny to sneak into other players rooms and search drawers for items. Sheriff missions should be 1-4 players. Tons of griefers harangue the missions just to steal others horses, and I don't want other players influencing my honour levels by vote.

exact same thing happened to me at the start of a mission. I thought it would be like RDR1 where you could whistle and the horse would buck the thief off. I was left running on foot whistling f***ing Dixie pretty much as I see him drop off a cliff and get the notification "Your horse has been critically injured". I found those settings and Horse Access was greyed out on mission. Once I got to Free Roam, it was available.

Allow me to play "Devil's Advocate" regarding Auto-Aim. Seems like a large portion of players detest Auto-Aim as "no skill", "trolls" etc. "Get good" you may think. I'd like to take this opportunity to direct your attention to something that has always lurked in the dark of the gaming world, since its inception. There are many disabled gamers who may rely on Auto-Aim. Myself included. Yes, you may not have remembered or realized - I am extremely physically disabled. Lately there (finally!) has been a push from the disabled community about game accessibility and developers are finally starting to take notice. Look at Microsoft's revolutionary Xbox Adaptive Controller (or "XAC"). Or Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Insomniac's Spider-Man, or Square Enix's Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Even Red Dead Redemption 2 has incorporated some accessibility options such as switching Taps to Hold, Subtitles/Speaker labels and varying degrees of Auto-Aim/Aim Assist. As a disabled gamer - I use every option Rockstar has provided. Does it still seem fair to arbitrarily remove Auto-Aim entirely from Red Dead Online? That would put me, and many others of varying abilities out of luck completely. Might I suggest folks get behind the idea of providing Private "Hardcore" Servers? Private servers are most assuredly coming. Have patience please - it's still a beta. Don't scream so loud about removing something disabled gamers are literally fighting for, Inclusion. Like most game modes in GTA: Online, you can probably lock the rules to Free Aim and First/Third Person views for added challenge. Thanks for reading.

Had a run in with a griefer tonight. I actually really enjoyed it though. Picture it, Heartlands, 1899... I was minding my own business, casually throwing knives at swarms of fish in a low spot on the river, watching them turn belly up and float to the surface for easy retrieval of knives and fish. when a Rank 4 shows up along the riverbank. I act neighbourly and wave, but I'm feeling cautious just the same. He waves back, a little too eagerly. Somethings up. Suddenly he crouches. I start to walk away slowly with my camera view focused on him as he pulls out his lasso. OK, it's ON. I let him take the first move, he lassoes me. I break free just before he can seal the hogtie. He's whistled for his horse. I stand up and give him a taste of my pump action shotgun, nice and close-like. He immediately spawns back in and rides full bore toward me, firing from horseback with his Carbine Repeater. I take aim with my shotgun and fire - hitting his horse in the face. Horse goes down, critically injured. I switch attention to him as he's trying to collect himself and spoonfeed him some more lead. I do what any good cowgirl would do - I finish his horse and release it from it's suffering. I don't feel much like showing off my "E-peen", as I'd rather this clown move on and lick his wounds elsewhere. I jog over to my nearby camp, as he's chasing me on horseback, shooting wildly and missing (for the most part). I emote "up yours" as he tries and fails to shoot me, and I laugh as his bullets phase through me. He tries his lasso again, but it too phases through. I emote "shoot-em up" for extra burn. I have a seat at my table and casually browse menus, the map, even leaving my bedroom to retrieve my phone to message him easier while still keeping an eye on him. "Wish we could play cards..." I say, implying my comfort at outwaiting him. He never replied, but he stayed seated across from me for 10 minutes (real time). I stood up and "flee'd" to his horse. He finally stood up and found a new world to harass. I scout the map to be sure he didn't send word to any friends, looks clear. I start walking back down to the river to "fish" when suddenly my entire minimap gets a red halo. I hear shouting and red dots encircle me. They caught me off guard but it appears like a band of NPC bandits, or maybe bounty hunters, since I killed that griefer twice. I take out a few, but they put me down twice before I finished them off. I probably killed about a dozen of them in total. The last kill was satisfying as I fired my repeater into the last enemies belly - he stumbled behind a tree, and I met him with my hunting knife, by way of tackling him and "execution" by a vicious throat slash. All the rest of the bodies disappeared due to the limited distance, so I only got to loot the last 3 bodies I killed down at the river. I got disconnected soon after. 😈

Not to "beat a dead horse", but have you selected your horse in the stable, go to Tack, go to your saddle, press Triangle/Y to Equip, then you Activate your horse? If you are unable to do that, then I'd say it may be a bug.
-
You need to Equip your saddle on your desired horse and then Activate it as your horse, see here:
-
To avoid trolls stealing your horse and subsequently killing it - While in Free Roam (not on a mission), Open the Player Menu by pressing LEFT D-Pad, go down to Stables > Horse Access: Me Only, Allow Leading: Disabled
-
On both characters I've had, I was jumped by a pack of wolves and shortly after, a cougar. I riddled the already poor cougar (gross white coat) with repeater rounds and skinned it, and also loaded up it's carcass and headed to a butcher fairly far from where I killed it (there was a closer butcher, but in the wrong direction I was going) and it's poor carcass still netted over $5. While hunting multiple animals in the same herd/area, DO NOT go too far from any dead animals you've dropped (like if you get them spread out), they will disappear. Not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but it's annoying, and if it is supposed to happen, they need to increase the distance. Once somebody else must have gotten confused and must have stowed their wolf pelt on my horse while I was in a shop. I came out and noticed it. I went to the butcher but didn't see it listed as on my horse. I tried to grab it off my horse but it didn't give me the option to. I decided to go into the stable to clear it, Going into the stable indeed removed it. Note: If you're hunting and fully load your horse up (multiple medium pelts, 2 small animal carcasses and a large animal carcass) DO NOT go into the stables, even on foot. I needed horse provisions since my horse cores were nearly depleted. I parked my horse and walked into the stable on foot. upon leaving, I was in the saddle and my pelts and carcasses were gone.

SAAAAME thing happened to me, so annoying

As I've mentioned in other threads - once I got my final MVP that counted for The Real Deal, I was promptly deleting my level 11 character and making a nicer one. I had been grinding out hours of racing and last I remembered to check - I had like 0.54 gold nuggets. I specifically remember once I finished Clay's horse thieving mission, I only had 0.21 nuggets. I didn't pay any attention to my money when I started a new character but I did the first mission with Clay again, and when it came to the first bandit camp, I went full on Rambo and knifed 3 out of 5 bandits silently. The last 2 I headshotted. The leader emerged from the tent and I got the first map. As he ran away, I got Plus Honour for letting him live (temporarily, as I chased him down and shot him dead soon after... no honour penalty!) Once I was back in free roam, without really doing any voluntary Stranger missions, I have 0.97 gold nuggets. So either my gold carried over to my new character or I massively cleaned house in combat points this time or something
-
I finally got my (4th) last MVP for The Real Deal trophy with my original ugly character, it was a beautiful thing. Everyone got rammy *just* behind me. My horse found another gear, I was 2 lengths ahead of 2nd and 3rd, when 3rd started swiping 2nd. 2nd warned 3rd to race fair and clean, or it was "on", 3rd pulled a gun. Shots rang out, but this time I was about 12 lengths ahead... I kept mashing "X" and guided into Stamina barrels to stay topped up. Crossed the finish line a full 9 seconds ahead of a totally different 2nd and 3rd LOL. Blingk! Then I promptly deleted that ugly bish, didn't care that I was level 11. Hellooooo, much nicer character! Couldn't angle the eyebrows to be more horisontal like mine, but I'm MUCH more pleased with my new look.
-
It's a bug, I had it. When I went back to the Stranger, he gave me a new mission that loaded in. I got disconnected and when I was reloaded into a new session and he gave me the same first mission but the caravan popped in.
-
same, reload. It's happened to me a few times
-
Thanks, will do! Here's video, I went through and found there were actually 3 separate players doing this in that session
-
Had damn near 2 hours in a single race lobby, clawing after that Real Deal trophy (MVP 3 times) and at one point, there were 2 players who were clearly cheesing the game by rubberbanding their controllers to ride in a circle to stay "active" so they can farm free/easy gold nuggets since completing a race automatically gives you 1 and at least $1 cash. Normally I wouldn't care, hell, extra padding to the player count so there's for sure more than 4 players for the trophy, but when the game starts you immediately behind these guys, your horse gets injured right off the hop because they're unavoidable. Not to mention, certain lap races have you passing them, still circling in the middle and right on the finish line. I did my best to vote to kick both (Sadly if there's more than one, you can only vote to kick one). The first one got 2 votes so he left willingly, but the last guy managed to stay in for well over an hour. After every race, I was the first one to vote to kick him. Eventually others started catching on and were voting too. We finally got enough votes to kick him... BUT HE STAYED IN SOMEHOW. It needed 5 votes, we hit 5/5 votes to kick, then it switched to 1/5 votes when a 6th player voted. I didn't see his avatar in the lineup, so I thought we did it but sure as hell, he's at the starting line in game, spinning in a circle! I finally got my 3rd win/MVP, so I JOYFULLY left - but the trophy didn't pop... My stats confirm I have 3 race wins. I recall being named MVP 3 times (over 2-3 days) Frustrated is an understatement...
-
Same, also there is something suuuuper off with the handling of the horses. I've only ever hit a tree maybe 2 or 3 times in SP, but in MP, my horse will run sideways like as if it's spooked but there's no threat anywhere, or trying to cross a narrow bridge, he will swerve at the last second. Can't count how many trees and posts I've hit.
-
Definitely a bug, I had it, as well as several other players. Try logging out and back in, eventually it fixed itself for me.
-
I just hit level 10 tonight before signing off. Once I achieve MVP once more for the trophy (3 times MVP) I'm deleting my ugly character and starting over!
-
I can report I no longer have issues selling to the Butcher. I haven't tried removing items from my horse yet. The money from hunting is extremely profitable - I loaded up my horse a few times with multiple pelts, a deer carcass and two small animal carcasses and also carried a second deer carcass (It was a loooong walk back to Valentine from Limphany) and made a bunch of money. I can't wait to purchase a cart or a wagon and a few more horses!
-
Yes, yesterday I had this, but I couldn't sell them anywhere
-
I was stuck like that too, Sell the horse you get from the mission with Clive (or if you can afford a new stall, buy one) Go to whichever Ultimate Edition horse you want, you'll have to select it, go to Tack, go to your saddle, press Triangle/Y to Equip, then you can Activate your horse. Again, this game is poor at explaining these things... Video of me figuring this out, which should help you guys:
