Yet another person trying to restrict everyone elses freedom because they had bad luck or should have been more careful.

Let me guess, you want to give it a passive mode?

You restrict theirs or they restrict yours.  PvP should be an option between  at least players who both consent.  It shouldn't be a player trying to do one thing while another decides to shoot them in the back, cause it is only fun for one of them.

I've enjoyed it so far. Been playing since Thursday and I've seen so many complaints about RDO that I expected it to turn in to a terrible experience. Yes some of the pricing doesn't make sense and some players just shoot at you for no reason but it doesn't spoil the game itself.

I've only encountered a handful of idiots on this game, I've played solo and teamed up with a few randoms as well. Some of the series modes aren't to my liking but I just avoid them when I can, I want to get the MVP trophy so I'll play which modes I enjoy. I do find that some players manage to get instant head shots as soon as they see me for a split second and that doesn't quite sit right with me, plus I can't dive when others do. I can't figure that one out 🤨

The games great in my eyes, especially seeing as it's in the testing phase. I've had two disconnections in 4 days. The amount of complaints I've read make it seem like the games broken but it's far from that.

Actually i turned into an idiot last night.. But it was not the intention.

I was hunting ducks at the lake, and i see a red dot approaching. I ran up hil in some bushes, and i saw that he was now at the spot at the lake, where i was, he looked up to me with his gun drawn, and i shot him.....

Poor guy was trying to kill the bear that 3 seconds later killed me.

I feel so bad!!!!! 😱

I see the PS can perma block griefers from an above post.

Can this be done on the xbox?

Yes, but they will require proof and it seems to be a wait and see type thing.  It also depends on the game as well.

So it has to be sent in for review first?  You can't determine who you don't wish to play with?  That doesn't sound right.

I could understand that process for disciplinary action but not blocking as that onky affects you and the player you don't wish to play with.

Most companies want proof so that they don't have waste time replicating the issue.  You can also go into that player's profile and block them, but I have found in other games where I am up playing with the same players whether I want to or not.

So long term report and provide proof.  They will get around to reviewing it at their pace.

You're talking about reporting a player and that can be done from within the game if you wish to do that. We were discussing blocking a player so that you won't get matched with them, receive msgs, etc.  There is nothing for anyone else to review.

At this point, it's almost irrelevant, because I spent two hours trying to get online last night and being error-coded into oblivion, sometimes, with two separate error codes/messages in the same attempt.

Zero issues with other games.  When Friday the 13th: The Game has a more consistent online matchmaking system than you do, you're doing it wrong.

Luckily enough, I haven't had that problem (was on last night as well).  The worst I had was bad lag on Friday night which was likely due to the traffic from RDO being released to everyone.  .....but this is an actual, work-in-progress beta unlike some that are nearly a finished product and use an open beta for stress testing servers and/or marketing.

I hope those that are having problems (or have suggestions) are using the R* website to submit their feedback.  Personally, I look at this as an opportunity to help effect change in this game as it's still under development.  ....somewhat rare nowadays (on console).  Whether R* actually does take a direction I prefer is another story.  ......I'm just taking a wait and see approach right now.

Yeah, that's why I was intrigued when some folks were saying that (on PS4 at least) when you block someone, it won't allow the game to matchmake you with them.  I never really had to block folks like this so this is news to me (if true).

Funny, I logged in last night and spawned in the Grizzlies.  I knelt down and then watched the big map.  I could see a couple posses that were obviously trolling other players so I blocked them.  I might try this a few times before starting sessions and perhaps eventually my chances of being paired with such folks will lessen a bit.  .....which is probably a pipe dream when you think of just how many folks are likely playing (or will be playing) RDO.

.....speaking of which, I wonder if anyone has numbers on how many folks have been playing the beta this past week.

I've given up playing online until Rs see sense and bring in passive play or private invite only lobbies.  For those of us that want to build our characters,  hunt,  fish etc the griefers are making life very difficult.

Just getting from a to b is a tedious effort when cretins are constantly rinsing you.  Yesterday I messaged a griefer  and politely asked him why he was trying to stop me getting on with my game.  He replied by calling me a snowflake and saying that it was part of the game.

I've submitted feedback to Rs and from what I've seen on the net lots of others are really annoyed about this.  They'd have to be pretty dumb to not sort this problem out.

Another thing I've noticed is how the honour system doesn't reflect the behaviour of posses.  I was looking to join a honourable posse the other day and when I tracked them down in Blackwater I found them knifing NPCs.

I'm done with it until / unless they sort out these morons who are spoiling the game for everyone else.

Well, it's better than knifing other players, I suppose.  I love The Tragedy of Julius Caesar as much as the next guy, but I have no desire to reenact the pivotal scene as a willing or unwilling participant, if you catch my drift.

Well, if it's any consolation, I saw the following in a Tweet this weekend from R*.  I am sure they've been receiving a ton of complaints about the lack of invite-only sessions, trolls, etc.  .....and this response (IMO) likely came as a result of that and the complaints about the economy:

Quote

We want to thank everyone for their feedback on the first few days of the Red Dead Online Beta. Now that it’s accessible to all players, we’ll work to balance and fine tune the experience to make sure it’s fun and rewarding for all kinds of players.

Good on you for submitting your feedback.  I've read the responses to the R* tweet and what folks have been saying on various social media.  It seems (to me) the biggest complaints are what you brought up (lack of session options) and the in-game economy.

That's just ****ing embarrassing...

I only had that one error at the end of a mission, but I also never tried getting back on...

I thought that was how it worked, then I read @YodaMan 3D's post... Are you sure you blocked the person? I sometimes forget to after reporting them, could that be the case?

That's the thing....  I don't know if it works.  I never tried to see if someone I blocked ever showed up in a session with me again.  I just started blocking RDO players last night that I observed were trolling others.

I'll just block all of my friends until one of them complains, then we'll know!

Different beast, but I used it in both GTA:Online and The Division.  Blocking players using the Xbox User block.  I often kept a list of players that I didn't care for and found them still in my online game instances.

Yes, I am fluent in blocking players using this step.  Surprises me at times when there are still players that I can play with online.  :)

Not in The Division, but definitely used this on PS4 for Friday the 13th: The Game.

So far, so good.  I'm willing to wait in a queue for a bit longer to ensure I don't get grouped up with cowards who need safety in numbers to play the game.

There was some cheaters in The Division that I intentionally avoided in Survival PvP, (CronusMax Users).  Reported them to both Xbox and Ubisoft.  I saw them for months afterwards, so I stepped away from PvP Survival cause I knew I wouldn't beat them in a gun fight if we met up right outside the spawn point, at least till I would be able to find a gun that I could use.

So I don't have a problem with the PvP, I actually like that aspect of the game, but I don't like that every player is pinpointed on the map.  There is no option to "watch your back" and it is virtually impossible to go at it alone.  Leave the PvP as it is just remove the player blips from the map.  If you want to hunt other players, at least give them a fighting chance.

In a PvEvP Enviroment, not all players are wanting to PvP.  Yet they are on the map for all to see and nowhere to go and hide.  Think we all know not all PvP players are actually looking for PvP.  They want easy kills and then run away till you get tired of chasing them.

Call me a coward all you want, but I loved PvE Survival, and miss it all the time (deleted TD to make room on my HD for RDR2).

Removing blips is a double edged sword giving trolls anonymity as well.   They could simply lie in wait in towns, at mission starting points, post offices, etc. and still have a clear advantage over their victims.  At least now I can see what towns they have infested and wait or move along.

I was an advocate too for removing blips (and still am), but they need to do more to discourage trolling and penalize that kind of behavior.  Some may say that ruins their fun but they are also ruining the fun of others.

We really need invite-only sessions and/or passive options (that trolls cannot use to their advantage).

You won't hear that from me.  I prefer the PvE over their stupid idea of PvP, which gives no PvE player a chance to win at all.  I mean when a PvP player can kill any PvE player with just one shot and you can have a room full of PvE players and they can't scratch the health of a PvP player when all focus.  There is a problem, then for the longest time force the DZ onto those players.  Nah!  You won't get disrespected by me.  I wish you good luck regardless of which you want to play.

One thing I can say with certainty is that if RDO's online component doesn't see some serious improvement before March, I'll gladly waltz over to TD2 with no qualms about leaving RDO behind.  I didn't pay for RDR2 to play the story and move on--it's literally half the game.  The online in it's current iteration (yes, I know it's a beta) is an incongruent, broken mess.

TD was like that for it's first year, but I'd be willing to bet that the beta for TD2 is MILES above where the RDO beta is now.

What if you kill a player, you spawn on the map for say 10 seconds.  That way Trolls will be lit up like a Christmas Tree all day long.   Put a bounty on them where they get shot at by NPCs as well as PCs.  Trolls don't like it when they can be seen and everyone is against them.
