Just unlocked both of these horses and I need an upgrade to my thoroughbred so I was wandering which one would you recommend?

I preferred the Torkoman in single player as I found the speed difference negligible but having a faster horse will likely be a huge benefit in free roam.

The Turkamon is the total package. Speed, health, and stamina. Because its multi classed, it doesn't get spooked as easy, and can gallop like the wind too. The decider for me, however is its size. It looks like a horse and not a pony, and trust me... Size matters. :P

It certainly has that girth if you know what I mean 🤣, I'm definitely leaning toward the Turkoman.

Could I have the old horse? I can't even get that yet! LOL

If I could gift it you I'd do it in a heartbeat. Imagine if they implemented an horse auction function in RDO, one can dream anyway.

I'm not to the level to get either yet in the online mode.  But I did use both in the story mode.  Personally, I like the Fox Trotter for Free Roam but much preferred the Turkoman when I knew I was going into a firefight.   I am assuming the same will hold true in online mode.  If I had to choose one or the other for online mode and PvP it would be the Turkoman, hands down.

It doesn't matter they are probably the two best horses in the game currently. So either breed would be a good choice.

I thought the Black Arabian was supposed to be the best horse? I want to get it as soon as I'm high enough level. I already have the gold from all the free gold I got for playing the beta. In the meantime, I'm happy with my Red Chestnut Arabian, I got for free just for being a PS4 player. BTW, what's the best saddle?

Apparently there are hidden stats like your horse's bravery (how easy it gets spooked), the Arabians while boosting impressive overall stats tend to get spooked easier than either of the two breeds mentioned in the post.  It's definitely debatable which one is superior, I used all three in SP at different points and they are all great horses.

A less easily spooked horse would come in handy for me since I like to hunt cougar. Whenever I'm in cougar country, I have to go real slow and spam eagle eye while looking all around me. If I don't see the cougar until it's  close enough to spook my horse and throw me, I'm usually forced to throw it off me and shoot wildly at it in self defense, damaging the kill.

Yeah, the Arabians are definitely more skittish IME.  I have the Red Chestnut Arabian and it gets spooked pretty easily.  .....not to the point of throwing me but it does sort of fight me at times unless I calm it down.

To be honest, I didn't see a huge difference in speed from the horse I had for free from the first mission.  ....not considering the other stats of course.

I know how well you have bonded with the horse affects that, too.  But it would make sense that some horses are less skittish than others.

For free roam, I would go with the faster horse, no matter how marginal.  If you're keeping an eye out for people on your radar, having the top speed is good for keeping away from them.

I have no experience with the Turkoman, but my choice was made on the stamina difference between the 2, in favour of the fox trotter. With an improved saddle and the 50% stirrups.

As far as I can tell the Turkoman is stronger compared to the Trotter in health, has the same accelleration is slower speedwise and has less stamina. Although in game the stats will show it a bit differently if I look on wikipedia the Trotter has a bit more going for it, for the long distance whilst the Turkoman will be a bit stronger in battles.

Can we say best horse for online is Turkoman? (including all horses)

Maybe.  I think it comes down to personal preference and play style.

Overall, I think the Fox Trotter is the better horse.  It has a faster top speed and more stamina to maintain it.  I also think they are the most calm and easily controlled horses in the game (with good stats).  So if you're playing the game solo or do a lot of traveling and hunting, etc. it may be the best horse for you.  Certainly my favorite for general free roam style of play.

However, and this is a big consideration, if your play style is more PvP based, more protracted and ongoing gun fights and hunting down opposing posses and such, then I would say the Turkoman is the better choice by a pretty significant margin.  It has the same acceleration as the Fox Trotter, just not the top speed. Which, acceleration is probably more important in pitched gun battles than top speed anyway. And although you give up some longer ranging stamina you more than make up for it in much better health so that your horse has a better chance of surviving throughout the battle.

Seriously, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.  It's just a matter of which you really value more.  Health or Stamina.

As for the Arabians, no. Absolutely not.  Skittish little ponies that everyone just looks ridiculously huge riding  on.

Been on the fence on these two, been saving my pennies for when I get to the appropriate level. You can't go wrong with either of them, but I'm leaning towards the Turkmen. It was my go to horse in single player and the increased health will come in handy seeing that as of this morning griefers are taking to trying to kill my horse.

There is very little between the 2 of them They are both multi grade horses, the Turkoman is war/race and excellent in gunfights noise doesnt bother it a deal its Heart core is a full circle giving it great defense against damage speed wise pretty quick but not as fast as the Fox trotter but there isnt much speed difference its also pretty good around predator animals standing its ground well.

Fox trotter is a Work/race horse si is extremely good around predator animals mine has actually killed a grizzly and a wolf stamina is excellent but hear cores not as good as the Turkoman

So basiaclly either are good all rounders with small benefits either way

I use Turkoman for mission etc where gunfights are the norm and use the Trotter for hunting and travelling great distances at speed

End of the day its what you like and want out of the game but as dollars are easy enough to earn why not buy both

Remarkable that the Turkoman is still higher rated in the poll, If you look at the stats of both horses they basically tie counting all of them.

Fox Trotter - Faster and more Stamina

Turkoman - More health

I assume most people ride the horse more compared to fighting on horse - logically the Trotter should be the choice. Naturally this is personal preference, but for PVP the Black Arabian would appear to be a better alternative due to handling/health compared to the Turkoman. That being said I haven't acquired the Turkoman yet and will most likely get it relatively soon as my 3rd horse. Perhaps I change my mind then.

I have both horses but like the Turk a tad more because I like bigger horses. I do a lot of fighting from horseback and those 2 work the best. The Turk also regenerates its stamina quicker than the  MFT. Both are good and you can't go wrong either way. For me personally , the Turk works better in combat. I currently own 2 Turks and 1 MFT. Couldn't be happier.

If you're not terribly worried about speed and stamina, there turkoman is the best option. It's great in a shootout, doesn't spook and fight you in my experience. I use the silver turkoman when I'm fighting at night because I blend in very well. I do the same with the brown foxtrotter and green/black clothes.

But I generally use my silver dapple foxtrotter for most things as my play style is to be very mobile, although she sticks out like a sore thumb. It's what I used in SP. As far as temperament, they are almost even with the turk winning out. Although, I sometimes feel it varies. Because my horse will follow me everywhere even if it puts her in danger. Where as my friend's horse is hard headed lol.

I am not fond of the Arabians at all. Although their stats are pretty on paper, the temperament kills it for me. I have literally ran down cougars and gators with the turk. I have noticed, as far as "personality", the Turks are very.... sassy? Lol. The Foxes are more chill. Arabians are like brat children tho.

Currently have both coats of foxtrotter and the silver Turk.

Great comments. I debated this a ton and my experience suggests Renascent is bang on. For those still debating here's my two bits. This is based on my gaming style which on free roam is a lot of moseying around hunting away from other players. I posse up to do missions and in a fight prefer horseback kills over being on foot.

Arabian - So done with this horse. Stats look great, colors are good, and the horse runs fast, accelerates well, and turns on a dime. They are also super skittish which is so annoying, and they're tiny and seem to trip on the smallest rock to send me flying.

Fox Trotter - No brainer upgrade to the Arabian. Faster and I think just as agile and responsive. Great stamina and speed, this horse just loves to run which on missions is 90% of what I need my horse to do. I think my silver dapple (Miss HorseFace) looks decent with her natural flowing white mane & tail. Bigger than the Arabian she has become my "go to" horse when I posse up. I almost always get to the destination first, clear most of the enemy, and that's on top of stopping to skin a deer on the way! The only downside is if I'm on foot in a gun battle she'll take off on me, and she does still trip now and then and send me flying.

Turkoman - This horse definitely offers the full package. Excellent speed, stamina, health. Big enough to stay on its feet and keep me in the saddle. Brave as a tank, whether its wolves or enemies not much will make it flinch. My Dark Bay (Stinky Magoo) has bucked me out a couple times, but he's totally dependable and tough as nails and when I'm moseying around in Free Roam mode he's my horse. He doesn't turn quite as quickly and is just a smidge slower than the Fox Trotter or he'd be the only horse I'd own.

Arabian = Show, Fox Trotter = Speed, Turkoman = Strength

I just wish I could see Miss HorseFace and Stinky Magoo both hitched up at my camp at the same time.

Idk if it's just personal preference or not. But my foxtrotter seems made of steel. I survive sh*t I normally die on with any other horse. She had swam across rivers and off an island for me. Took 2 shotgun blasts in the face and not died allowing me to live long enough to take out the dude (he was using double sawed off). And in a gun fight not on my horse, she almost always sticks right on me. She's saved my ass more times than I can count. Like last night even whilst getting sniped at. She still came to me to give me my hat lol. Think I'm in love ~
