Oh, I disagree.  You aren't likely to see many folks in the northern parts of the map, stretching from north of Strawberry to West of Annesburg.  That entire wilderness is open 99% of the time, at least in sessions I've been in.

It's funny. I usually select free roam in Ambarino so I spawn in away from everyone else. I still end up with other players in my general vacinity.

Must be very unlucky cuz I've only spawned in once where there was a posse leader and one other nearby but they rode past me fortunately.

It is gonna make me a little more paranoid when I go into town with pelts though. I'll have to break out my ultimate sneakin tactics.

Also I'd hope they disable the player list when you open your map you can select someone and see exactly where they are. I don't mind the player list on the D pad, but the map one needs to go for sure.

I don't  spawn right next to them, but I'm close enough to be weary of their presence and want to get my ass out of there asap.

Afternoon all.

New here. I welcome the proposed updates as a step in the right direction, but it is still beta and has a ways to go yet. Like others I have suffered my fair share of griefing and find some of it just ignorant and frustrating. But a completely sanitised Rd2 would seem pretty boring and pointless to me.

Part of my frustration is my own lack of skill, I'm 45 and was given Xbox and Rd2 as a Christmas gift. My reactions are not what they were when raiding AQ40 back in vanilla Wow! I am getting used to the consol and PvP mechanics and am dealing better with griefers day by day. We are outlaws in the wild West after all, so there is always going to be grief! The elation of getting to the doctors or butcher's alive does always give me a rush.

Saying that, griefing people fishing is out of order in my book. My simple solution would be to drop the price of a crafting camp to a dollar and make it a no kill zone, like a white flagged camp. Fish in peace for however long. Make it available only by water, so as not to be used creatively by griefers.

It seems to me that you will be able to fish and hunt anywhere except around towns.  If a griever shoots you you just have to parley them, and stay where you are. If they hang around you just put them on block list and jump servers.  You should be able to go about you business then.  Just a thought.  Especially if they fix the glitch on loosing pelts off of horse.

Anyone know a way to determine just how far 150 meters is in this game?

If its anywhere near real life it would be an easy shot for my 270.  So lets hope that they will adjust that accordingly.  I would like to know how far our radar reaches in meters.

Well, I guess we'll find out when the update launches, eh?  We'll have to do some of our own tests to see just how far out shots can be heard, etc. in relation to the mini map.  .....to get a sense of it all

Why is that a problem? I get that you'd like an area all to yourself...any hunter would. But it's more realistic to have to share a spot if you stumble across someone in the same spot.

For me, reducing the risk of losing pelts and griefing were the real reason for looking for isolation.

I would like to know game distances myself. I just got the gold buckle last night for traveling 1889 miles. I've played online since the week it came out and I travel in game a lot. I'm too cheap to fast travel most of the time. I would have thought I would have got that award a lot sooner. I would like to know the distances between towns, how long I'd have to ride the train to get that award etc.

Worse case scenario, we'll at least have an idea how far the mini map's diameter covers once the update hits.  We know strangers won't be visible until they are 150 meters out so we can simply do tests with our friends to see when they begin to show up on the radar & map.

The main map screen really needs a scale on it. What respectable map doesn't have a scale?

On paper it sounds interesting and if it works the way they say could be good.

I'll wait to see what they say next week and then see how it works out.

seems all good to me. looking forward to adapting and hunting bounties. more interested in pvp getting fixed ie hit detection and nerf on the varmint of course the casual aimers are gonna hate that. after this update i hope we get hardcore freeaim mode.

Varmint rifle.

I was in a showdown lobby with a 170+ guy yesterday.  I'm level 72 and there was no-one else in there above level 45ish, with plenty in their teens.

170+ guy was spamming the varmint rifle the whole time (and winning every match).  Come on, man, get some self respect 🙄

When we got to 'choose your weapon' he couldn't get above mid table.

What I don't get, though, is that the planned nerf to the VM looks like making it less accurate.  Wouldn't the better approach be to dial down the head shot damage (either take off the head shot bonus, or make it 2-3 head shot kills, however the damage mechanics work best)?

The Varmint Rifle is pretty weak.   Its really only good for killing newbies with headshots.

Yep, that's what he was doing, farming a bunch of level 5-15s with VR headshots.  Like I said, if that's your game plan at level 175, you need to get some more self respect.  The sooner the thing is nerfed to stop that being possible, the better.

Roll on 26 February.

Mostly good, but also mostly stuff that should have been sorted ages ago.

Bit concerned about how the bounty system is going to work.

Butwhat I'm really after is new content, because at the moment the game is pretty stale.

I was heading to blackwater butchers when i got attacked by 2 players on great plains i killed them with dynamite arrow. i rushed to the butcher and i got a notification saying all shops are closed to me because i damaged a players property ie horse. i hope it is not to do with these updates as it is unfair.

The latest update which this thread is about won't be implemented until 2/26/19.

Oh, gotcha.

Yeah, never took out a griefer's horse and then had to go directly to a butcher so I wouldn't know any different.

Interesting about the parley notification but again, it's rare that I get rolled enough times for it to pop up for me.  Could very well be that they are adjusting things for the upcoming TU.

R* is horrible when it comes to balancing their games and understanding their own game play mechanics in public sessions.   GTA O proves that..looks like RD O will have the same issues.

I mean, I kill players horses all the damn time and for good reason.  Hostile player will try and stay on their horses, in order to keep wearing more hats to block head shots (Never without one).  Yet I get punished for it with paying $4 for killing their horse.

Sort of like GTA O.. Where people use vehicles to attack players from because it protects them from bullets or explosions..  Yet if you blow up the vehicle to deal with those pests you have to pay insurance for it.

This is why I cringe when R* says they will add anti greifing mechanics to the game.   Sure.. R*..  Sure you will...lol

Lets hope im wrong but doesnt sound like much of anything to me. Content would be Nice

They've already outlined what to expect in this TU but they also said "We will have more details on additional content in the February 26th update next week".  The update will also include bug fixes but to what extent, no one knows.

We also have no confirmation yet as to how some of these new features / changes will work exactly and likely won't until the update releases and folks get a chance to explore them in more detail.

they need free aim lobbies like yesterday..

the griefing will come to a halt guaranteed at least 80-90% of it.

hell keep auto aim for people who don't want to PvP and can auto aim all the NPCs they want but disable it when it comes to other players.

bam problem solved
