  1. 1. When are you planning to buy RDR2?

    • Are you SERIOUS?? I pre-ordered to get it on the release date, of course! What do you expect me to do?? WAIT??

    • I'm planning to take the day off-work on release day and pick it up then. My tent is all ready.
      3
    • I plan to ask for it for Christmas. I can wait a couple of months and let someone else shell-out for it.

    • Eh, I'd rather let the excitement build a bit and get feedback from other players. Maybe sometime next year when the price really drops.

My family pre-ordered it for me and I still don't know.  *wink wink and it is driving my son insane, has even got on my xbox and clicked on it so it gives that warning about how I have to wait, that I tried to access too early.  Oops!  I accidently shut the xbox off by mistake and missed the whole thing.   I must admit it has been a lot of fun between him and I building upto the release of the game.

....I'm semi-retired now so taking a day off from "work" isn't even an option.  However, I rarely play games during the day when I'm doing other things.  ....but I'll still put in a few hours of play time that evening.

Any purchases I've ever made in recent years have been through Amazon (for day-of-release delivery) or digital.  I rarely pre-order titles I really want and will either buy on the day of release or shortly after.  RDR2 was a little different as I am very confident that this product will deliver and I don't mind showing my support.  ....the additional GTAV:O cash is also kind of cool as I still play that title from time to time and I already know I'm going to buy RDR2 on release anyway.

For me, personally -- I'm a total weirdo.

I haaaaaaaaate buying games as soon as they're released. Why? Glad you asked:

  1. Too Expensive - Game companies are banking on the hopes that their marketing will get us super-hyped about the game they're releasing so that we'll all run out and buy it at release, so they charge a ton for them. A month or two (or three) down the road, the price often drops 15 to 20%, especially right before the holidays. Which brings me to my next point:
  2. A Great Christmas Gift - I'm notoriously hard to shop for (unless it's a Darth Vader item. I collect those!). But my family knows I don't want only Vader stuff for the rest of my life. As this launches in October, that gives me about 10 weeks to look forward to it. Also, I often have the week between Christmas and New Year off, so I get that time to play my new game.
  3. I'm A Game Video Watcher - Having lots of free time at my desk at work gives me a good deal of time to watch videos. I enjoy watching gamers like Swiftor and Ohmwrecker play the new games. Watching them get better helps ME to get better. I followed this same strategy with Friday the 13th, and when I finally got the game, I played my first round and actually did very well. It was a lot of fun, and I was prepared.

Anywho, that's just goofy ol' me. I'm the one unimpressive vote for "Christmas" above. No one else does it like this??

For some games I do but it depends on the circumstances.  This year I will likely pass on BFV until there is a sale simply because RDR2 is coming out soon after.

I also tend to pass on games I might like but simply don't have that deep an interest in or have reservations about, etc.  It could also be that I'm currently into another game at the moment or there is one arriving at the same time that I like better (like the example above).

Either way, when a truly good game comes along like RDR2, I will either preorder or buy (or have it delivered) on the day of release.

I have been waiting for this game since 2015, you know I am preordering it. I will be deciding at the end up the month but I will likely preorder with GameStop since it is the closest store to me.

I do this for FIFA games but for RDR2 it would be crazy for me to wait even a minute longer than I needed to.

I clicked option 2, as I am taking the Friday off and more than likely will have a bad headache and stomach ache on the Monday.  However, I am not sure if I want a digital copy or hard copy yet.  I think I will more than likely go digital, so I can play it asap.  One thing I like about a digital copy is it is pre-downloaded and installed before the release date.  I want to start playing the second it is available! Don't wanna be coming home @ 10:am and having to install and everything.

According to the Playstation Network support page it is.   Just search for  'How to Pre-Order and Automatically Download Games'...You can download it 2 days before the release date, you just can't actually play it until that date.  Soooo, if this is true, I can see me starting at 12:01am on the 26th of October! (Not sure if this is the case with XBOX or not....I'm a PS4 guy)
