  1. Since about Father's Day, my wife and son pre-ordered RDR2 for me. Since, my son who is terrible at keeping secrets has been trying to find ways to let me know. As a good father I keep pretending to be blind to the evidence or hints he keeps dropping. Well, this weekend end he got me. While the pre-order was downloading, he had opened up the que on his xbox. Minutes later he comes in and tells me his xbox was working, said he put a game in and there was some smoke and everything died. Now being a guy who has worked in electronics all my life, this isn't totally unheard of, so I run in to handle the situation, totally bull in a china shop. Get in there and sure enough RDR2 plastered across his TV screen. He then politely ask me if I see what is loading on the screen. I turn pretending to be angry, asking him why he's getting RDR2 and I didn't. Seeing him grinning from ear to ear. I couldn't hold it and started smiling myself. He then told me "Happy Father's Day and explained that I would have gotten it sooner, but Rockstar messed up big time and didn't deliver in time. " For a kid who has been trying for months to clue me in to the surprise, he finally got me.

  2. Better yet. The could just start in a bar having drinks. Players spawn randomly in the middle of a bar fight.

  3. Hey there, folks. I know we’re all quite jazzed about the game releasing soon, and it’s going to be awesome! Once it does, we’re expecting this forum to get rather busy with lots and lots of talk about the game, its ins-and-outs, and the best/worst things about it. HOWEVER, it should also be considered that many of our forum members will be either unwilling or downright unable to buy the game at its release price. So, they may choose to spend the meantime watching online play videos and reading up on strategies and multiplayer stories here on the forums until they can get their hands on a copy. All this being said – you ARE free to TALK about ANYTHING YOU WANT about the game on this forum. HOWEVER, you CANNOT post any SPOILER VIDEO FOOTAGE. AT ALL. Also: If you're going to MENTION (in text) STORY MODE OR OTHER SPOILERS, our only request is that you use a handy-dandy tool we have here called the SPOILER tool. Here’s a helpful GIF to show you how it works: That’s how you do it. Basically, anything you write about that spoils anything of RDR2, please use this filter. This way, ANYONE can read your posts and still not get the intricacies spoiled. But what exactly IS a “spoiler,” you ask? Spoilers are reveals in the storyline or other important information about the game with dramatic effect. For example: “In story mode, you start with a pistol and six bullets.” – That’s not really a spoiler. That’s more of a gameplay dynamic. No hearts should be broken by learning THIS info on the forums. “Wow! It makes so much sense that Dutch was secretly in love with Abigail before Marston won her heart!” – THAT, friends, is a spoiler. (and a made-up example. I have no clue what happens in this game.) Remember, this applies to posts AND comments! If you click-open a spoiler and want to reply with the same (or another) spoiler, you’ll need to also use the Spoiler tool. So, you have the discernment, you have the tools, and you have the talent. With this neato tool, we give you the freedom to write anything you like without taking anything away from others. As of this posting, this rule is in effect. As the game ages, we may choose to rescind it at a later date – ‘cause, by a certain time, if you STILL haven’t played the game, that’s on you, chief. Sorry ‘bout it. IN THE MEANTIME, we have to impose some regulations: IF YOU encounter a spoiler irresponsibly posted by another forum member, please use the “Report Post” button IMMEDIATELY, and we will address it. We DO understand there may be a slip-up on this policy. If you realize you accidentally posted a story mode spoiler, please Edit the post and use the Spoiler tool. Now, we gotta get into the heavy stuff: If it is found by a moderator that you posted a spoiler without using the tool, or an uncovered spoiler you posted is reported to us, your post WILL be edited or deleted, and the following will occur: First offense: public shaming in the thread by a moderator or admin - NO warning points issued Second offense: public shaming in the thread by a moderator or admin AND warning points issued, as well as a possible temp-ban from the forums Third offense: further warning points will be issued, along with a temp or possible permaban from the forums So, let’s all enjoy playing this game, talking about this game, and the forums. Just use the Spoiler tool, and all will be right with the world. Adios, - Skunk

  4. Cheating is the equivalent of buying a billboard next to the freeway and declaring to the public at large that "I suck, and cannot hang with the average player. I need a competitive advantage to be good at something!" Exactly. That'd be like me walking up to the counter of my local apothecary and asking for sildenafil citrate to gain a competitive advantage. Fixed. The difference here, is that you aren't using it to gain a competitive advantage or to troll other players. BIG difference. I can't speak for others, but when I have the opportunity to game with friends, both cooperatively and competitively, it enhances the experience exponentially. The online component of games like RDRO, The Division, or GTAO have an allure that's essentially a smaller scale version of an MMORPG or an ARPG, especially with the level of detail in the case of RDR2. Building a posse/crew/gang online and having fun together can be a very rewarding experience among like-minded individuals.

  7. Just start everyone around the perimeter of the map on horseback, randomly spaced apart, or have preselected spawns but random assignments. To drive everyone closer together, have either tornadoes or wildfire closing in.

  8. blindfold, gag, and hogtied to the back of a horse and sent out in the middle of a battlefield. You have to free yourself before you can start fighting.

  9. Kinda, but puns are less about direct jokes and more about talking normally but dropping references in. That's what they revolver round anyway.

  10. One of my biggest fears for this game is the morality or honor system. I want to play the game as a morally grey character. A character who steals and murders indiscriminately, but donates to, encourages, and loyally fights beside his fellow gang members. I wanna be a black hat that truly loves his brothers and sisters in his gang. But, I don't know that that'll be possible. It seems like the honor system will be rather linear. You're either a good guy or a bad guy. I've seen this happen before in games. Mass Effect. Fable. I really hope rockstar has focused on individual npc relationships over generic honor. I'd like to know that a really bad guy can be friends with the good gang members and vice versa. I could never bring myself to be the full black hat who doesn't help out around the camp and makes fun of John for his scars, but I also get sick at the thought of being the straight up white hat who only ever steals from the rich. I guess I just find pure moral or immoral characters disinteresting. I want to be able to choose my actions (helping or hurting npcs) individually in each situation. And I'd like to do this without worrying about a "reputation" or moral line being crossed. What about you guys? Do you wanna be a Robin Hood, a dirty dan, or someone who changes between good and evil depending on the situation?

  11. I might try making this tonight/tomorrow. Edit: Just remembered the pork is in my freezer... Edit: ^^That is not an innuendo^^ Edit: made it last night. I'm surprised my neighbors didn't call the fire department with how much my apartment smelled like smoke! When you say a bottle, how big is said bottle? Turned out pretty good, but a little too sweet for me. I blame the root beer. I wanted to use Dr pepper, but saw some "not your father's root beer" and thought that would be good. Brought the leftovers to my parents house and my dad said he liked it. I think this will be a good base to tweak for my own taste. Thanks for sharing @BropolloCreed79!

  12. I came across a 24 second clip of gameplay on Twitter which looks very much like legit gameplay. It seems some people have managed to get hold of the game early and are posting footage online. Just be careful when browsing social media, Youtube etc as there maybe spoilers out there.

  13. Well, to be fair, any medium about this game is going to carry an inherent level of spoiler risk. But people here don't seem to actively go out of their way to be dicks, so there's that...

  14. Nice to find another "mature" gamer on RDR2, unfortunate platform difference, good luck with the PS though

  21. But... how will we have glue if we don't send those corpses to the glue factory? Also, horse is good eatin'--I won't resort to cannibalism, I'm not a monster. That said, Bropollo's Corpse Wall Emporium only deals in 100% Genuine Human Corpse Walls. Effective as both a matter of practical defense and an incredible deterrent to morale, our Corpse Walls are guaranteed to be the most effective form of psychological warfare since Russian forces attacked the Swedes by flinging plague-infected corpses over the city walls of Reval (Tallinn) in 1710.

  22. I love this. That's one thing the original RDR never had was a bar fight. I hope that changes with this entry.

  23. .......yeah, but thought I should mention it anyway. I didn't want to sound like a hypocrite but you're right, I'm really only using it for my own advantage and not over others. I only play solo or on rare occasions, with friends. To be honest, even at level 200+ and the arsenal I have, I still don't stand a chance against griefers as they know all the tricks of trolling. What's funny though is when people start getting matchmade to my session (still happens sometimes even with the MTU trick), I noticed folks tend to leave me alone unless they are at my level or above. .....or if it's just a couple of us in the session together. I can usually tell right away if they're going to be a problem though.

  30. I haven't read anything on this but I would imagine there will be just so there isn't one gang on an entire server. Say the server allows like 60 players on at once, I would imagine the gang limit will be set to 12. That means 5 gangs can be on the server if everyone has max members.

  34. The vast majority of members on this forum are over 18 but you'd be hard pressed to find any mature people amongst them, I have a Posse on the forum but we don't check anyone's age or level of maturity at the door so I can't say whether or not as a whole we're a mature bunch or not. They're aren't many Posses on the forum yet because Red Dead Online doesn't come out till next month so most people are focused on the singleplayer and less so on grouping up with fellow players but given the large number of new members who have joined this forum in the run-up to release I'm sure you'll be able to find a Posse that suits you after the release of Red Dead Online or you could always form your own Posse for mature players, anyone on the forum can form a Posse.

  35. I'm led to believe the honour system is anything but linear. NPCs will react to you differently if you have history with any of them or their family, depending on what history that is. Also, as you are an outlaw in a gang it would be unrealistic for NPCs to particularly like you or want to be near you.
