I'm the type of player who will only exchange in hardcore PVP when the other person wants to play along. I think it being forced on people who don't want to play like that just because someone else does is a bit much. You should be able to switch it off for something and have a cooldown time for it UNLESS you are the one targeting other people then screw you, no protection for you.3 points

This is fab, I went to explore the boat docked at Thieve's Landing. Down in the hold I jumped on a shelf and glitched and the whole superstructure of the boat went invisible, right? So this is cool, I'm looking out about water level, and can see above and below the water, right? Then this guy comes walking up, on the sea floor, from the Quaker's Cove bay, he looked like Jesus... and then he lit a cigarette *underwater*! so now I'm convinced it was Him... btw it looks like a Dead Zone down there, no corals, no shellfish, just dead mud, must've been an oilspill...2 points

Hey all, New joiner to the forums....been gaming for many a year but been mainly focusing on offline between RDR games. Now getting back into a bit of online roaming and pvp on RDR2. Couple of things about me.... I never shoot other players (first)...but I may wave or nod! (Please don't get itchy on the trigger if you see me approach to say 'Howdy') I am occasionally useless on a horse so apologies in advance for the many times I may crash into you on co-op missions should we undertake one...it's obviously the fault of the horse! I'm not a glory hound or showboater....I'm a steady gun so if you want a Doc Holiday to your Wyatt Earp, a Doc Scurlock to your Billy the Kid, a Tucker to your Dale, a Garth to your Wayne.....then I'm your man! Always happy to Posse up and do some Co-Op or stranger missions. I'm probably on the more senior side of gamers (first machine was an Atari 2600) so I tend to enjoy my gaming with a nice glass of oak aged red in the evening or a nice home brewed coffee in the AM. Unfortunately this style of gaming plays havoc with the ol 'bladder so if you see my (much younger looking) character standing about looking confused....it's probably because I'm off draining the dragon.....so don't shoot me! I never cheat, use bad language or rage quit....frankly because I don't know how to cheat, I have a 5 month old baby (my own by the way just in case you lot suddenly think...'Child Snatcher') generally sitting on my lap, and I don't know how to switch off my PS4 in a snappy spontaneous manner! I actually remember watching classic westerns when they first came out.....and I play like it so you may see me sitting on my horse looking whimsically over the valley just like John Wayne in Chisum.....you may also hear the dulcet tones of Willie Nelson coming over your headset when I approach (nothing like a bit of mood music) As points 1-6 have hopefully demonstrated, I don't take too much seriously in life...especially gaming so I'm looking forward to spending some time chatting and playing online with you all. Oh and I'm Scottish.....not exactly traditional cowboy material.....but I do wear the boots! Cheers SpeedyBeagle (named after my old dog who in true western fashion is long gone)1 point

Money in Red Dead Online is possibly even more important than in the story mode, as weapons and horses can only be obtained by first unlocking them in stores and then purchasing them. There are also fewer ways to earn cash in Red Dead Online, so you will likely end up being poor for a long time if you don't know the best ways to earn money. Red Dead Online features two different types of currencies: regular money, which is obtained by completing story and stranger missions, winning in the competitive multiplayer modes, and selling items. The second type of currency in Red Dead Online is Gold Bars, which can only be obtained by either: (1) earning 100 Gold Nuggets (which are then converted to a single gold bar); or (2) by purchasing them with real money. Gold Bars allow players to bypass the rank unlocking system and purchase any item even if it has yet to be unlocked, so they are a real commodity. In this guide, we will cover the best ways to earn regular money in Red Dead Online (without resorting to any exploit or hack either). Currently, Red Dead Online features a few story missions collectively known as the "A Land of Opportunities" missions. A total of ten are currently available in the game, but two of them are only unlocked if your character's Honor rating is low. Completing these missions for the first time will allow you to get money, XP, and Gold Nuggets as rewards. As this money making method involves playing story missions in a random order, you may want to avoid using it if you care about the story. These missions aren't particularly long or difficult to complete, however, so you can just play through them regularly to make some good money. To make some decent money early on, you want to play the Kill Them All, Each and Every One late story mission. You are rewarded $250 for completing the mission the first time and slightly more if you manage to complete the secondary objectives, making it one of the better-paying missions currently available in the game. Other missions aren't that lucrative, but they will still help you make some decent money early in the game. Once you have made enough money to purchase a good weapon, such as the Bolt-Action rifle, and the Varmint Rifle, you can start using other real money-farming methods and make yourself some cash. As a side note, repeating story missions through the story mission On-Call option is a good way to make additional XP to rank up. Hunting Getting a powerful weapon that is unlocked relatively early, like the Bolt-Action rifle, will allow you to make the most out of hunting, as bigger and more resilient animals yield the best items to sell. With the recent economy changes, hunting has become the most reliable activity in Red Dead Online to earn regular cash, as it does not depending too much on chance and luck. The best hunting spot is undoubtedly an area found in the western part of the Lemoyne region, to the east of Kamassa River on the map. This area is the best hunting spot thanks to: (1) the variety of animals that can spawn there, ranging from big animals like alligators to herons, eagles, pekin ducks and spoonbills; and (2) its location, as it's conveniently close to Rhodes. The animals are spawned randomly, however, so the amount of obtained money per hour will change depending on which are spawned and on your ability to make perfect kills to get the highest quality pelts possible As most of the animals that spawn in the area are small, the only way to get a perfect kill on them is with a Varmint Rifle, which is unlocked relatively early, at rank 8. For medium-sized animals, the bow is the best weapon to use to get Perfect Pelts. Against alligators, however, you need to use the best weapon you have obtained, so this is where the Bolt-Action Rifle comes in. It's high firepower will help you kill these fearsome animals with a couple of well-aimed headshots. Fishing Fishing used to be the best money making activity in Red Dead Online, but the recent economy changes dropped the price of salmon considerably. With fishing, it's currently possible to make around $180 per hour, which is not a bad amount, but far from the $300+ per hour that could be earned when Red Dead Online originally launched. While definitely a good money making method, fishing requires players to have played the game long enough to have met a couple of requirements: you need to get to rank 14 to unlock the fishing rod and rank 30 to unlock the Lake and River Lures, which are needed to fish salmon. In case you have some Gold Bars to spend and don't want to wait for rank 30, you can use one to purchase either lure. There are a few fishing spots where salmons can be caught, but two of them are the absolute best thanks to the fact that they are very close to towns. These spots are Owanjilla Lake, to the west of Strawberry and the Dakota River, to the southwest of Valentine. Owanjilla Lake is probably the best possible spot, as there are lower chances of being interrupted by other players, since most people don't travel here unless it's for fishing. Once you have caught 10 salmons, head over to the nearest butcher and sell them. Each trip will net you $25.00, which is not a bad amount of money at all. Treasure Maps Even with the recent economy changes, finding treasure maps is still the best money making activity in Red Dead Online. It's not the most reliable, however, as chances of finding maps outside of ranking up are low. Treasure maps in Red Dead Online work differently than they do in the single-player story mode. Online, treasure boxes are placed in random locations found in the areas highlighted by the maps, so you will need to keep attention to your controller's vibrations, which indicate how far you are from the box. Once vibrations become strong, use Eagle Eye and search for the yellow particles. Items found inside treasure boxes are also random, but they are usually worth a significant amount of money. Maps can be obtained in two ways in Red Dead Online. They are a reward for ranking up every 5 ranks past rank 10, so you will be getting a new map at rank 15, 20, 25, 30 and so on. You will eventually reach rank 100, however, and won't be able to obtain more maps this way once you do. The second way to obtain Treasure Maps in Red Dead Online is via clearing Gang Hideouts. These hideouts have the chance of spawning at several different locations found all over the map. Once you have killed all of the gang members found in hideouts, you will confront the leader, whom you can kill or spare. Your decision doesn't seem to influence the chance of getting a treasure map, so do whatever you feel like doing. Even if you don't get a treasure map from the gang's boss, you can still make some money by looting all corpses. The amount obtained will usually be relatively little, as looted items have incredibly low sale value compared to that of the single-player campaign, but it's still better than nothing. Competitive Modes If you're really not hunting and fishing, and the random nature of obtaining treasure maps is not for you, you can earn some decent money playing the Showdown Series and Races multiplayer modes. For the fastest possible results, winning horse races is the best way to go, as they tend to be shorter than a full run Showdown Series run. There are three different types of horse races in the Race playlist, but they are not all that different from one another, so get yourself a good horse, like an Arabian or the Missouri Fox Trotter, and win as many races as possible. In case both horse types are way out of your league due to either low cash or rank, you may want to use the Red Chestnut Superior, which is available for free, or the free Thoroughbred Horse if you have purchased the game's Ultimate Edition. As already mentioned, playing the Showdown Series is also a good way to make some money while having fun, but completing a full playthrough of the playlist takes longer than completing horse races. There are 5 different play modes, called Make It Count, Name Your Weapon, Shootout, Hostile Territory and Most Wanted, each one coming with its own rules and winning strategies. The amount of earned money varies depending on your placement at the end of each round. The post Red Dead Online Money Making Guide appeared first on RDR2.org. Read the full story1 point

I am not talking a feud that starts. What I mean is when a posse kills you and you respawn and they are killing you again and again. Since I have gotten a little higher in the levels, I don't see this as much. The feud part is part of the game.1 point

Yeah. Almost 3 hours of getting kick. Worst thing is, whatever I buy before disconnect is unavailable in next session. But the money is deduct1 point

It still doesn't mean the game can determine whos the aggressor or the defender even if there was a grace period. This game needs invite only and/or friendly sessions.1 point

Ok, so I managed to repeat it, so I'm down in the hold and realise I can antagonise the locals by shooting at them but they can't get to me... Be careful where you're shooting down there, there are lots of explosives and combustibles!1 point

This still seems like the simplest method to me so I'm backing this one. Everything available on one would be available on the other. The only difference being we can't kill other players on PvE servers. That would get the job done in the simplest fashion. Simple and to the point, no reason to concern yourself with what might or might not work. That would work, plain and simple.1 point

Pre-emotive shooting just makes the situation worse, turning everyone into paranoid trolls and making it harder to hunt in peace. There are fixes that R* could implement that'll alleviate the issue, and I hope they come quick, but bad people gonna be bad regardless. We shouldn't stoop to their level in the meantime.1 point

This really pissed me off when I found out about it. I had a group of 4 players harassing me and my younger brother when we were playing. They did exactly this. There has to be a better way around this.1 point

I know that in GTA V you can call upon Micheal, Trevor or Franklin to follow you and assist you in gunfights. I'm just curious if there is a system in RDR2 where you can ask the people in your camp to follow you or something along those lines? I'm asking this because there are a few set story/side missions in which you lead people to a certain destination and help you fight along the way, so the mechanic is certainly in place. I know that Arthur is practically a one man army, able to gun down every policeman in Saint Denis, but I think it would be nice to have people follow me around.1 point

What I find interesting is that people are still judging the game based on the beta. Like they say the story was great but online sucks. Like no duh, they need to work out the issues before it is 100% stable. lol1 point

The Rock carvings and the Dinosaur Bones are a pain. I've found them by just riding around. If you really want to find them all you will need to designate the time to each. There are maps out, but you feel good knowing you found them yourself. The murder maps are easier then you think. Just keep a close eye out on the side of roads when you get of the main paths there not easy to miss. Finally, I found the treasure maps this time around easier then in the original. As you ride around you will notice the main land scape easily after you look at the maps. Hope you find them.1 point

Just 1 thing! Wow, that's hard ... Do I fix a problem or add new content? Ok, if I could only do 1 thing, it'd have to be new content: add mini games.1 point

They can take turns to avoid it, which makes it fairly useless. A posse of 3 can kill you 9 times. A pose of 7 ...1 point

People respawn pretty close to where they died, and appear on the map as a red dot. It's easy to find people who've just killed you, or you've just killed. Many griefers like to kill multiple times or in humiliating ways, or do other douchbag stuff. But If it is happening a cross servers/sessions then that is something really weird and worrying. Is there a way to join your game just based of knowing your username? Are your settings such that they allow anyone to join your game or something?1 point
-
Killing griefers isn't the problem, they are usually awful shots. The problem is that by that time the damage is already done, you've lost whatever was on your horse and been dragged into a pointless time wasting exchange of fire.1 point
-
Well this part isn't true, most things ARE level locked. I heard all the horror stories about hunting and losing everything to griefers so I fished a lot and made money but didn't rank up because there's no xp gained in fishing. So now I hunt and keep leveling up. I like it, and I keep a hand in fishing too but usually after hunting just to bring in extra $$$.1 point

Mario Kart is a great game if you want to argue with your friends and not talk to them for a week cause they can't handle your driving skills and get you out of winning first over and over again. lol1 point

MARIO KART! Rocket league is also a lot more fun than I expected. It's free on the xbox game pass, so I played it while I was waiting for RDR2.1 point

you need to be close to the edge, like on that grass/moss, and not right up against the wall. Just tried it with no problem.1 point

They're part of an easter egg related to the first Redemption's dlc, Undead Nightmare. The code translates to "Blessed are the peacemakers. Ayauhteotl" Ayauhteotl is the name of the Aztec deity who started the zombie apocalypse in order to retrieve her mask. Incidentally, you can find this mask (two of them actually) in the Fence's shop in Saint Denis.1 point

The last few days I been having issues and today I was able to play for a bit but then I got kicked off and haven't been able to get back on since. Very annoying. I know it is in beta but this is my first experience of real issues with it and it is frustrating.0 points

Happened to me 2 times. Such a pain. I was getting disconnected a bit last night. I think 4 or 5 times. Then a few days ago I couldn't play more than maybe 10 min without getting kicked.0 points

Pie. All kinds of pie. Be it apple, peach, pumpkin, banana cream, or cheesecake. They are all overrated. Every time I get excited for a slice of pie, I end up disappointed and single.0 points
