I'm not sure if this has been answered yet because I'm not going to the 47 pages I love this post but Rockstar has degraded the graphics of a story mode to match the graphics of online so everything runs smoother. Although they don't mention this in their update details, if you do a little digging around and searching you will find that they have in fact degraded and turned off some features for example one of the features that I can think of off the top of my head that they turned off is one of the shadowing and light rendering mechanics. So it may not be your PlayStation or your TV at all, it may just be because you're just now noticing the degradation, our eyes play funny tricks on us.2 points

I've edited my previous post with the items I looted from those 5 locations. They should be similar or the same with the exception of WHICH jewelry items and if it has a Hideout spawned in (if applicable)2 points

Just noticed an unannounced 1.248GB update to RDR2 this morning downloading on my PS4. Should be some news on this shortly. It says Version 1.07 *UPDATE* 3/18/19: Added Unofficial Patch Notes *UPDATE* 3/19/19: Added "state of the update" news released today below the patch notes Here are the patch notes: Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) Update 1.07 Patch Notes Addressed issues with save data. Added fixes for exploits with Red Dead Redemption 2 version 1.07. RDR2 version 1.07 added fixes for crashing issues. Fixed stuttering/lag issues. RDR2 update 1.07 has fixed few glitches. Added fixes for framerate drop and freezing issues. Added performance and stability improvements. Red Dead Redemption 2 update 1.07 is now available for download on PS4 and Xbox One. Here is the "state of the update": RED DEAD ONLINE BETA: THE ROAD AHEAD With each passing week we continue to add more to the Red Dead Online Beta, and the next four weeks will bring new Showdown Modes and Racing Modes, as well as a new Free Roam Event that launched earlier today. Alongside incorporating player feedback and addressing existing issues, the beta period has allowed us to lay the groundwork for the more advanced aspects of Red Dead Online still to come. Our experience of building other online worlds has helped us create a more evolved foundation for the open spaces of Red Dead Online, but the world of Red Dead Online will evolve in its own unique direction - one in which players have greater freedom to customize their play style uniquely over time, allowing them to sink into the world and their character and feel more connected to the experience of living as cowboys, outlaws and gunslingers in the wilds of 19th century America. The next major update is currently planned to arrive later this Spring, bringing a host of feature upgrades and new content including: The Hostility System The Hostility system builds upon the anti-griefing measures added in February with smarter and responsive features that keep players immersed in the world through confrontations and PvP action. For example, players who have damage inflicted on them by attackers will be able to defend themselves without incurring Bounties or Hostility increases. Previously, the attacker and target would be marked as an enemy - now the attacker who inflicts damage will be immediately marked as an enemy to the attacked player; players will not accumulate Hostility increases for killing other players who are marked as an enemy. Hostility increases will not apply within structured events such as Free Roam Events, Free Roam Missions, Showdowns and Races. Engaging in player vs player behaviors related to Free Roam missions will not incur Hostility increases, however attacking other players not engaged in the activity will cause your Hostility level to rise. The Hostility System has many more functions and will help balance experiences for all play styles. Offensive and Defensive Playing Style Options Some players just want to immerse themselves in the world, riding, hunting and fishing in peace. We want to offer these options while allowing players to coexist comfortably alongside other players in the world. The Offensive Playing Style is much like the current Free Roam play as we know it while the Defensive Playing Style is a more evolved version of the Passive Mode concept, designed for Red Dead Online’s more grounded experience - giving players more flexibility in how they interact with the world and at the same time de-emphasizing hostile contact with other players. Choosing the Defensive option introduces balances that complement a less confrontational approach: Defensive players cannot be lassoed by rival players - although if a Defensive player lassos another player, they’ll be removed from Defensive play and incur a significant Hostility level increase. Defensive players will trade the ability to lock on to other players for the benefit that other players will not be able to lock on to Defensive players. While Defensive players can target and be targeted in free aim, they cannot deliver or receive critical hits – if a Defensive player is attacked with a headshot, they’ll survive and be able to defend themselves via the Hostility system or escape all while remaining Defensive. There are several other adjustments that come with the Defensive Playing Style, all of which are built to work seamlessly with systems like Hostility and Bounties to keep all players rooted in the world. Some other new additions include: More A Land of Opportunities Missions: continue Jessica LeClerk’s search for revenge as you explore the path of a Gunslinger or an Outlaw New Free Roam Mission givers and mission types: Red Dead Online is set in the years before the single player story so expect to encounter a range of new and familiar faces as you traverse the frontier The introduction of dynamic events: fight off ambushes, initiate rescues, defend folks in need and more as you travel across the world All this, plus updates to the character creator, restructured Daily Challenges that eliminate hostile gameplay in Free Roam and introduce streaks for bigger rewards, the return of another classic weapon, the LeMat Revolver from the original Red Dead Redemption, and much more. In the coming months, we will continue to add features and content that will allow players to immerse themselves in the world of Red Dead Online in brand new ways as they choose what kind of life they will make for themselves in frontier America.1 point

working on Ark Extinction tonight, not sure how i missed that whole DLC. I don't see forest in my gamefly options, so it must be online only, I'll have to check that tonight. Ark has stayed the way i remember it, spawn in, run down the beach, get eaten by a raptor lol. Except for some reason now, in the easy starting point 1 my spawn in point is being hunted by a level 22 sarco. so not only did the raptor get me right off, when i spawned back in, he was off messing with some other dino, i grabbed my stuff turned around and chomp went the sarco. spawn in # 3 i swam across the inlet, watched for them to leave my stuff for a while, took like 20 minutes then the sarco got into it with the aggressive brontosaurus looking dino (about half the size though) so i could my stuff. Then i ran down the coast toward easy starting point 2 and one of them feathered dino's come rushing out of the trees and has me for dinner. I gave up then lol. Wonder if i messed with my dino spawns last time i played? this was nuts. thinking i'll have to reset defaults before i play Extinction tonight.1 point

I just began playing, new here, this seems as good a place to start as any. My name comes from The Marine Corps Communications Electronics School in 29 Palms. Their motto is "We train C4 warriors" with the C4 denoting Command, Control, Communications, and Countermeasures. Of course, most people just think it means I am fond of the plastic explosive, which I must confess I am, very, and so the name still works. Normally, I get two questions after this. The first is "Why didn't you pick something with 'Marine' in the name?" Well, because while only around 1% of the US population has ever been in the Corps, approximately 500% of the population has such screen names, and at least half of those are new Marines naming every single account they have that way. I would have been one of them if I had found an available one. The next question is "What were you doing with C4 if you were in electronic warfare?" The same thing I was doing driving a truck for three tours: being in charge of a platoon armory, the generator refueling crews, setting up election stations, searching houses, searching for weapons caches, mines, accompanying infantry...….you get the idea. I did whatever the Corps needed me to do, including help the other Comm bubbas make sure hat Comms were up 100% of the time, at least 80% of the time. It's not my fault if people don't change batteries, crypto, hopsets, or the ionosphere. It is certainly not my fault when people point the SatCom antennae at satellites that aren't there, or the Microwave dishes backwards. Still, Explosive Ordinance Disposal thought I was competent enough, or expendable enough, to put C4 on weapons caches, so I did. I'm pretty sure that's NOT the way they're supposed to handle disposal of firearms, based on observing them in the field. To their credit, they never let me blow up any unexploded ordinance that might have killed me if I touched it in a bad place, but they were more than happy to teach me how to place plastic explosives and detonate them. The excuse they gave me was that they were busy and bored of blowing things up, anyway. I think the real reason was that they were filling out paperwork indicating they had followed the proper procedures and wanted a fall-guy if they got caught. I hate to damage the faith civilians have in us, but a surprising amount of military professionalism consists of "Let's not, and report it like we did." Don't worry, you can still count on us 100% in a fight. Well, the Marines at least. Then most of the army. You can count on the Air Force and Navy, too, just always late and over-budget. Not that I'd ever truly look down on the other services, it's a combined-arms force. Indeed, I owe them a great deal for leaving out gear that Marines desperately need. We'd buy it ourselves, but the Navy needs money more for nuclear-powered stealth laser destroyers. They're really important for all those times when a suicide boat is attacking, but you just need to kill the one guy driving it, as his buddies were only cruising. They also have to be computer-guided, which adds expense, because the Navy doesn't do so well in marksmanship training. Just kidding. You know we love ya, squids. Sorry for the rambling, but that's the story behind my name. I've been using variations of it for almost twenty years, so it's just stuck with me, and so are y'all for the time being.1 point

Thanks @Azzimovve. I added the state of the update news to the first post in this thread. I'm tempted to get rid of all the remaining back and forth about the servers being down yesterday just to tidy this thread up and keep the discussion about the update. Me too. Also like the fact that they are fixing the bounty system for those who defend themselves which was another big concern for folks who wanted the ability to at least fight back without being falsely labeled. Curious to see how it all shakes out. ......of course with the knowledge that this is still all a work in progress. I do like the direction they're going however.1 point

Wow, I kind of like the sound of the new hostility system and defensive mode system coming up. Sounds like the balance many have been asking for. Also a version of the free aim sort of lobbies people have been asking for, all without making those defensive players completely immune to attack. I’m actually excited to see how this becomes implemented... because what sounds good on paper can turn out to suck...1 point

After the killing and subsequent stuffing of a beaver, I completed the game. Its taken a long time, and I’ve enjoy every single second of it. The most challenging part was probably picking all of those herbs... Feel free to sign up to the 100 club below. 100 Club Members Foxtrot Zach DiamondDave1 point

Let me preface my argument with the fact that I do not personally care about what R* does with griefers and/or a passive mode. I am specifically talking about griefers, which I define as individuals that go out of their way to disrupt others during the game (ie. while at the butchers, fishing, hunting, or just minding their own business). In regard to the excuse for said behavior, I have seen the use of flawed logic and/or uninformed information when it comes to the historical time period in which RDR2 takes place. I'm estimating here, but I would presume based on my research that about 90-95% of the population at that time were scrounging to survive and get by, 4-9% had money and lived in highly populated areas, and about 1% committed violent crimes for whatever reason. Of that 1%, the infamous outlaws usually had a moral or ethical reason why they did what they did (money, revenge, etc.). Usually, they did not kill for the sake of killing / because "they could." They also lived very hard lives, always looking over their shoulders because they were in a constant state of being hunted down. Also, I would offer one to take a closer look at the career/life spans of the more notorious "outlaws" - The majority of them did not last very long. Here are some examples: Billy the Kid - supposedly made first kill in 1877, was killed in 1881. Kill total (approximate) 21. Jesse James - 1866-1882 - criminal because of disapproval of North after the Civil War. Kill total (approximate for entire James' Gang) 20. John Wesley Hardin - supposedly made first kill circa 1867. Sent to prison in 1877. Released in 1894, killed in a year. Kill total (approximately) 27. Butch Cassidy - first violent crime in 1889 (bank robbery). Believed killed in South America in 1908. Kill total (at least charged with) 0. Bill Dooin - started with Dalton Gang, 1891. Stated the Wild Bunch and the Doolin gang. Killed 1896. Dalton Gang - Founded 1890, almost all killed by 1892. Again, this is just my two cents after reading all through all this stuff about "outlaws for life" as the reason why they do what they do. Currently, there is no consequence for being an "Outlaw for life," which is the REAL reason the majority of people do it. If there were consequences ie, you were banned for a short time, or you lost ALL your money or were RESET to Rank 1 after committing a violent indiscriminate crime and then captured or killed, that would deter a majority of the indiscriminate killing. The excuse to randomly kill others because one wants to be an "outlaw for life" or equivalent is a weak point at best. Let's call it what it is, which is three options (or any combination of following): 1) Are trying to emulate outlaws, which demonstrates an inflated idea or no idea of the history of the actual outlaws or United States at this time, 2) Personal gratification from the simulated killing of things, 3) just being an asshole and wanting to **** with others because they are targets of opportunity. I honestly don't care which category a griefer falls into, however, own it, if you grief just to mess with people, don't try to rationalize it, go full on Dark Knight Joker or Tyler Durden and own it. ***RANT COMPLETE***1 point

I was a sucker for this- spent 2 gold (I think) on the hitched skirt. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have done so if it wasn't limited time only. I didn't want to miss it more than I wanted to have it, but the result is the same. Damn you R* and your marketing genius.1 point

I completely agree with you well said, I found the storyline to be highly disappointing and side quests and hunting to be much more enjoyable I did not appreciate being forced into the missions to unlock things that I wanted to do and at the same time the missions adding restrictions so I could no longer do the things I wanted to do...1 point
