I think Defensive mode is as close to perfect as it can be. Defensive mode is not Passive mode. You're playing defensively. You still need to defend yourself but you have a much larger window of opportunity to react. Rockstar doesn't want to divide the players. I don't really like Passive mode in GTA. I can't do a lot of fun things and it pulls me out of the setting when there's a ghosted out player toddling around. The next thing Rockstar needs to implement is Private/Invite only sessions.2 points

Yeah... I wouldn’t have had a problem with your story at all if it was kept to the confines of the delivery mission. Where you loose me, and in my opinion stray danger close to griefer territory, is when you waited for the mission to be over and started harassing them with explosive ammo.... I don’t really blame them for chasing you across the map and getting all salty. That’s kind of on you for taking the post mission revenge spree...2 points

I remember the good ol days. Before the "roles" update. When we would posse up, riding all over the map together, hitting a variety of stranger missions, getting into adventures together. Now...it seems like we only "posse up" for as long as it takes to do wagon escorts. Then everyone is quick to leave the posse so they can restart their camp and get Cripps back to work. Sure, occasionally we posse up to do a legendary bounty, or help each other fill materials, but it's mostly escorts. Another hurdle seems to be the difficulty of setting camps back up afterwards, and disconnects that seem to rise when people are jumping in and out, tents are in and out of posse camps and such. The title is a little dramatic, but I hope you get my point. If only Cripps would work when I'm gone, I could get back to the good ol days.1 point

Don't bother buying Nazar's collector maps unless you pop them for the "Use 3 Collector maps" daily challenge. Use this interactive map. It updates automatically and works beautifully on a tablet or iPad. https://jeanropke.github.io/RDR2CollectorsMap/1 point

Back in the Beta, Stranger Missions were bread and butter. Now it is better for me to run a 4 man posse so that I can cycle the Legendary Bounty. If there a bunch of us online, we will put out the word the someone has a full wagon. Basically taking turns running in large goods wagons , 3* bounties and the Legendary Bounty. Easy way to help lower levels rank up. 7 man posse is almost unproductive for me now considering the payout for the Legendary. Everyone is different of course, that is just my thoughts. Seems the only time I run in 7 is when a fight breaks out and join in to help.1 point

Players should not be able to kill you in Defensive BUT you can't harm players at all either. You are kinda like a ghost. While in Defensive , you also have limited activities that you can participate just like in GTA. So basically Defensive Mode would be for players to get separation from other players or do things like visiting shops in town. The minute you pull a gun you are kicked out of it.1 point

Howdy! Figured it’s time to introduce myself. Been lurkin’ round these here parts a mite. Name’s Kronjin. Same on PS4. Feel free to join me anytime. The real fellow behind Kronjin is a late 30’s railroader with 4 children, so his time is sporadic, but valued when it happens. Played and loved the original Red Dead Redemption, less so it’s online. Tried GTA5, enjoyed the story, but the online is not my speed. this is the first Rockstar online portion that I absolutely love. *tips hat and nods* Looking forward to seeing you all out there. ~Kronjin1 point

The game should have controller support no matter where you purchase it. I say should because they don't actually tell you that this is the case. This is part of the reason I am hesitant on buying it elsewhere, other than Steam. I think you will be fine though. If I find any information on it, I will let you know.1 point

Same issue here. I don't know what I am doing wrong but I have since given up on the streaks considering they just disappear without a trace. Maybe we will get an update soon for this because from what I have been reading elsewhere, it is a wide-spread problem.1 point

PHILIP CARLIER: SECLUDED SWAMP-DWELLER REQUESTED DEAD OR ALIVEPLUS TERRIFYING NEW MASKS, CLUB XP BONUSES AND MORE Law offices across the West have requested the immediate apprehension of Philip Carlier, wanted for embezzlement and the murder of a fellow employee of the Lemoyne Trading Company. Since the killing two years ago, Carlier has lived alone, on the fringes, in the swamps of Lagras. It is said that this isolation, combined with a taste for dissociative chemicals, has twisted the middle-aged murderer's mind. This Legendary Bounty is considered extremely volatile and should only be approached by the most resolute of bounty hunters. Pick up Philip Carlier's wanted poster at any sheriff's office to begin the pursuit and revisit the Bounty Board again after a brief period to replay the mission at an increased difficulty. With All Hallows' Eve fast approaching, Madam Nazar has obtained a smattering of masks that are sure to delight and terrify in equal measure. For a limited time only, she is offering masks for those indulging in the season - ranging from the horrifying Freak Mask to the macabre Swine Mask. Additionally, players who are in any of the three Specialist Roles will get a free mask. Licensed Bounty Hunters will receive an exclusive variant of the Creature Mask; Traders will receive an exclusive Swine Mask; while Collectors receive an exclusive Masquerade Mask -- all free of charge. Please allow 24 hours from logging into Red Dead Online for the masks to appear in your Wardrobe. Meanwhile, Outlaw Pass holders who have hit Club Rank 10 will get an exclusive variation of the Freak Mask while Club Rank 20 Outlaw Pass holders get this plus an exclusive variation of The Horror Mask. And Red Dead Online players who jump into GTA Online any time before December 12 can still unlock a unique colorway of the Slaughter Mask, sure to strike fear into even the sturdiest of hearts. And for the competitive; when the going gets tough, the tough get resourceful. This week's featured Free Aim Series is Make It Count, a true test of skill: using nothing but a Bow and Arrow or Throwing Knives to fight off opponents in a gradually shrinking arena until just one player is left standing. Good luck and godspeed. Collectors looking to cash in on Madam Nazar’s Weekly Collectible List can deliver the Cheaters Suit. Track down the Queen of Wands, King of Cups and Ace of Pentacles, then sell (or mail via the Post Office) as a full set before October 29th for your reward. And be sure to check the Newswire each week to see which items are in the Weekly Collectible List. All who take to the frontier in Red Dead Online this week will receive an additional 2,000 Club XP as well as a 30% XP Boost towards your progress in the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Club and The Outlaw Pass on a swath of activities, including: All A Land of Opportunities Missions All Free Roam Missions Shootout Series Takeover Series Elimination Series Race Series Bounty Hunter: All Bounty Missions, including Legendary Bounties and Player Bounties Manhunt and Day of Reckoning Free Roam Events Bounty Hunter Daily Challenges Trader: Trader Sell Missions Trade Route Free Roam Event Trader Daily Challenges Collector: Collector: Collecting Arrowheads Collector: Collecting Tarot Cards Collector: Collecting Lost Jewelry Collector: Weekly Collectible List - Cheaters Suit Collector: All Full Collectors Set Sales Condor Egg & Salvage Free Roam Events Collector Daily Challenges And PlayStation Plus members who log in and play anytime between now and November 4 will receive an exclusive colorway of the Killiman Vest, while those who connect their Social Club account with Twitch Prime receive the Bounty Hunter license for free (to ensure access to future benefits, make sure to visit Twitch Prime and sign up). Keep an eye on the Newswire for more to come in Red Dead Online in the weeks ahead.1 point

Just sharing some tips, unrelated but useful If your horse injured behind enemy's line, far away or you are inaccessible to go revive, open menu》stable 》set another horse as default. Now you can whistle that new horse. (This method only works if you have another horse in stable)1 point

Suit yourself I suppose. But in my mind, killing someone in your path while doing a mission is way lower on the griefer like behaviour scale than killing people with explosive ammo repeatedly after said mission is over... but I do get why you would feel the urge to. I wouldn’t engage in your revenge myself, but there are those who don’t like being killed in that context enough to chase you around. just to clarify... I’m not calling you a griefer. Just saying your actions could easily be interpreted that way by a group of guys who finished the mission then see you riding up over the ridge shooting at them.1 point

Thank you Dan much appreciated bud I enjoy seeing you guys progress through the game and starting out with nothing and then leveling up and earning the $$$ and getting the things you want in game.1 point

I'm kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop (I mean the roles and the Outlaw Pass were really too easy to level up)... like, them introducing properties but a little shed somewhere in the middle of nowhere costs 5,000 gold bars and a house in Saint Denis costs 50,000 gold bars or something. lol1 point

My brother and I 'cheated' the 100m bow challenge by doing it on each other so I'm not sure how rare that is. I favour one of the summer update buckles now but my favourite of the standard ones would probably be the 3 sniper rifle headshots in 10s - as hard as my brother tries to get it he can never get it to work out right. 😂1 point

Yes sir these cats are the worst !! Afraid to take an ass whooping like a man ! Pulling cheap shots then exiting. We usually laugh it off and go about are business but there are times we are bored and when they start on us little do they know that they just opened a window to hell ! Have several cowgirls with us that are meaner than rattlesnakes !! They will run you off I guarantee it ! 😀1 point

The other option is to hogtie them both, put one on your horse, 'borrow' a horse from the bounty camp, put the other bounty on that one, and ride it back to the jail, with your horse following along behind. In theory, you could then drag a third one in at the same time.1 point

It is way to early to make decision. There is not enough information available from either company.1 point

Back in January I would have thought no way will they introduce hammers as weapons. Lol. Also from January, we ended up with bolos and lamat as well.1 point

To be fair here, I had to deal with a lot of people laughing at strict PC gamers for not being able to play the game so the memes are just being shot back now. lol1 point

I wasn't exactly too excited about getting another game launcher for my PC. This is in regards to R* new launcher from a month or so ago. Personally I'd prefer getting this on Steam. I like Steam for several reasons; Forums, user reviews, listing friends games, achievements, being able to buy Steam keys for cheaper elsewhere and redeeming them on Steam. But it's not coming to Steam until December. And R*'s launcher/store has the $20s off + some free older games. So I got it there. Installing the 2 free games I've never played before worked fine; Bully and LA Noire. Tip : I found it helpful to pin my multiple game launchers on the taskbar. There is still room. For now.1 point

Welcome, welcome. I am glad to see some new people joining here. It is a great community. Gotta let me know how RDR2 feels on PC for the first time. You are in for a treat with this game man.1 point

Hi Saul (a fellow Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul fan?) - welcome to the forums! Have fun with the PC version of RDRII!1 point

Are you going to buy the game on pc? Id love to see how it runs for you when you do. I think it would be helpful for others thinking about it to hear from a few people who have bought it and see how it runs on their boxes so others can get a realistic idea of what would be required to run the game at the 4k/60 fps they want you to see it at. You could do a service for many who are thinking about it but not sure how their systems would perform.1 point

It's a good community and good atmosphere too. Glad you like it and I look forward to seeing you around.1 point

There actually is a trick that enables you to pass all of Arthur’s wealth to John. Just leave the incest couple encounter until just before the final mission, then go to the farm and let it play out as normal. Afterward, don’t return to the farm and instead go do the final mission. Once you unlock free roam as John (or is it already “unlocked”? I always focus on work at the farm until John leaves for Blackwater), just go to the pig farm, kill the incest couple, and collect Arthur’s money from the hiding place. I believe this trick has been tested by at least one person here and is confirmed to work.1 point

I recently had a rather burly cowboy hogtie me and carry me into a bedroom in the Strawberry hotel. At that point I'm begging him to just shoot me. Thankfully I cut myself free and shot him down before I was forced to destroy my game and seek counselling.1 point

I am on PlayStation. It very well may have been me I suppose. I like doing goofy random yet completely harmless things when I find other players around. It also tends to get me shot at a lot, but that’s half the fun. Sometimes I go into towns, climb the highest rooftop I can where everyone can see, and dance the prospector’s jig. Almost without fail, everybody who passes by pulls out their rifle and aims at me while they try and decide wether I’m just a drunken idiot, or the set up for some elaborate trap lol.1 point

Half the times I ride into either Tumbleweed or Valentine some player or another seems to be murdering everyone left, right and centre, yet I haven't seen one player bounty pop up. I step around the corpses as I calmly go about my shopping. Surely it would be worth $50 to the law to have someone step in and stop that sort of thing!1 point

I've known several personally who made the switch at some point but age may have something to do with it. I used to build and game on PCs for years. I started out in arcades and with some of the first consoles on the market before PCs became more mainstream in the 80s. I made the switch sometime after the PS3 came out. It was time once again for me to upgrade my PC and I simply decided to make the switch. Frankly, I just got tired of the tweaking, constant purchases of new hardware every other year or so, etc. I find consoles just more convenient. I can plop down on my couch, turn on the game I want and I'm good to go. We also use my PS4 as our entertainment center for Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I do miss the milsim games and flight sims but I don't miss everything else about it.1 point

Griefing on console in RDO is nowhere near what it is in GTAO. Part of that is by nature a the game has a much slower pace. The other part is due to the features and options R* has provided players to help mitigate the problem. Yet another is the fact that griefing is actually encouraged and condoned in GTAO. ......not so in RDO. Money exploits, spawn camping after missions, etc. still exists but it's really not a show stopper IMO / IME and doesn't really directly affect the players so much if you handle the situation properly. Some of those hacks have no affect on me personally so I simply report those that I might see and go on my merry way. How this changes in the PC version of the game will be interesting.1 point
-
Well, in the console release they were quite clear that RDO would be a beta that was still a work in progress. I know a lot of folks made assumptions but for me, it was about what I expected from their description. I knew it would take time to evolve although I expected it progress a little faster than it did. .....but that was also an assumption on my part. ....but like you say, we have few details right now but with the release coming in just 3 weeks, I would expect to hear more about it very soon. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to delay RDO for a month or so simply so people can experience the campaign first without the anxiety of missing out on the online portion while everyone else is getting ahead.1 point
-
.....btw, I believe you can still submit a ticket through Support under RDR2 without logging on thru SC. There is a sub menu that brings you to "two step verification" as a subject and allows you to create a ticket under that. I didn't need to login to get there.1 point

If you are in a posse while playing online. Your tent becomes part of the Posse leaders camp. That is just the way it is hombre. Doesn't make sense to have a posse with 7 campsites dotted around the map.1 point
-
I realise that this is a bit historic, but my daily streak is constantly being reset, I can't get it above 9! I log on on day 10 and it is back to zero. I'm not raising a ticket - life's too short, and I have plenty of gold anyway - but thought it worth bumping this question back up as it is still seemingly a live issue.1 point
-
I am guessing they will have a separate preorder option for this. It isn't even on Steam yet, I have checked. If not, I guess Steam players don't get any option for preorder perks.1 point
-
We simply don't have all the details yet. This is essentially all we know at this point:1 point
-
Could you imagine if they had both options going and people released they got the wrong one? It would be a nightmare. I'd hate to be part of their support team for that LOL!1 point
