Here's a bit more on the topic of Defensive Mode from R*. Some of it has been covered by @Freakshow9191. Defensive mode has been tweaked along the way and likely will be in the future but this along with Freak's post cover the major points about it: As outlined in an earlier post previewing some of today’s additions, this update brings the option to choose how you interact with players inside the world of Red Dead Online, via Offensive and Defensive playing styles in the Player Menu. The Offensive playing style is set as the default and is how most players traditionally interact in Free Roam – free to engage in hostile contact with other players if you are prepared to accept the potential consequences. The Defensive playing style is for those players who would rather explore the world in Free Roam than engage in conflict with others – and it’s designed to let other players know that you don’t want to tangle with them, as well as minimize opportunities for griefing. At the same time, Defensive players will not be alerted to PvP Free Roam missions and can not be pulled into them while in Defensive mode, allowing them to go about their business as freely as possible. Players in Defensive mode will be indicated by a shield icon, will take reduced damage from enemy players, cannot be lassoed, melee attacked, executed or targeted with auto-aim. Defensive players will also be excluded from being targeted in PvP-related missions such as Player Assassination. Those who attack Defensive players receive hefty penalties via the Hostility system, while players who initiate conflict while in Defensive mode will be instantly pulled out of Defensive mode and also receive similar Hostility penalties. Today’s updates also build on the player radar and visibility improvements introduced in February to create a smarter and more responsive approach to mitigating griefing behavior. The Hostility System tracks aggressive behavior across both Playing Styles, making hostile players visible to others and helping to balance the needs of players who want to get away from others who habitually attack or kill during unstructured Free Roam gameplay. As before, player blips change color - beginning dark blue and transitioning to red as their hostile play persists. A bright red blip indicates an enemy. With today’s update, players will never receive Hostility or Bounty increases for defending themselves against a player who is blipped as an enemy, or for killing high Hostility players. If a player attacks another player, they will not be marked as an enemy to everyone - but rather to the attacked player only, who will not receive a penalty for firing back. You can view your current Hostility level through the Player Menu. As you become more hostile, you become more visible on other player’s radars at longer distances and will respawn further and further away from your point of death – at the highest level of Hostility, you will respawn in a different region. Hostility increases do not apply within structured events such as Free Roam Events, Free Roam Missions, Showdowns and Races. Engaging in PvP behaviors related to Free Roam missions will not incur Hostility increases while in the Offensive playing style, however attacking other players not engaged in the activity will cause your Hostility level to rise.

5 solo lobbies during 5 distant deliveries
Kean_1 replied to Freakshow9191's topic in Red Dead Online
Me neither. Free Roam dailies made absolutely no sense as it didn't fit in the "play your way" style R* was touting. ....and I agree, it was essentially condoning griefing as it had players killing other players who had no choice. I'm glad R* quickly realized this (likely from feedback) and corrected the situation. As for long deliveries, I have a feeling this is just a glitch, bug or some other problem. Personally, I would suggest anyone experiencing the problem (who cares to have it fixed) contact R* Support. This is obviously an activity in the game meant to include rivalry with other players. .....more risk, more reward. It would make no sense to neuter it. If that was their intention, I would suspect they would get rid of it instead but who knows. -
Share beautiful pictures from RDR2 (not of characters)
Kean_1 replied to Miss_WarHorse's topic in Off-Topic
Yeah, I can move it but maybe the OP put it in OT because they weren't sure if it should go in RDO or RDR2? Where do you folks suggest I move it to? They haven't really been back since the beginning of the month. -
Mind letting us know what fixed it in case anyone else has the same problem?

I think I've been bitten once and poisoned a long time ago. It's one of those features in the game that can be relatively rare not unlike being struck by lightning. ....which can happen but it is an extremely slim chance that it will.

How long does it take Rockstar to respond from a report?
Kean_1 replied to SaulGoodMan's topic in Red Dead Online
Agreed... IME, Support usually responds same or next day within their 48 hr window. However, it's obvious they are overwhelmed right now and part of the reason they are constantly providing updates via their site, Twitter, etc. There was a post from really early this morning / late last night where they gave an update on the more common / urgent issues they are working on right now. ......I updated the sticky thread where I post these Tweets as I get notified. It is what it is but at least we know R* is aware of most of these problems and trying to find resolutions for them. In the meantime, all I can recommend is that people open trouble tickets with R* Support if they have not done so already and keep following up on pending ones if needed. Eventually the dust will settle as the teething issues get ironed out. -
The backward compatibility is almost certainly regarding PS4 titles. The big question mark in most articles is regarding the PS3, etc. The reason Sony didn't (or couldn't) make the PS4 compatible with PS3 was due to the hardware apparently. That isn't the case with the PS5. I read an article recently that Sony's strategy will involve trying to get current PS4 owners to jump into buying PS5's sooner rather than later. I can see backward compatibility being a huge part of that and a reason I will likely buy the PS5 upon release. If folks can take advantage of the new hardware while still being able to play their favorite PS4 games, I can see that as a huge draw. .....especially with some big PS4 releases still yet to come in 2020. Personally, I highly doubt they will charge a fee to play your old games as part of their backward compatibility strategy.

Yeah..... If a player shows up in the path of a delivery, I can't blame them for "clearing the way". ....especially is they notice someone off to the side remaining still, riding toward them, alongside or behind. Personally, I've been the victim myself and didn't blame them for going after me. I didn't notice what was going on until it was too late and was in their path doing something else. Probably looked like a potential ambush to them. We usually are not that quick to kill people unless they are directly in our path and making a move that seems obvious. .....but I still don't blame others that do although that's not to say that I won't then go after their delivery if they come after me.

11/17/19 R* Status of the More Common PC Issues **PLEASE READ**
Kean_1 replied to Kean_1's topic in Red Dead Online
Please take note that if you are having a problem and don't report it, you're not helping your own situation. now and then I see a post where someone is complaining about R* and their problems yet they have the attitude that it is a common problem so others must have already reported it......"why should I bother". The bottom line is that if you want to do something to help your situation, you're pretty limited. However, the one thing you can do is report it to R* and help bring more attention to the particular issue bothering you. Don't assume "everyone else is so your voice makes no difference" because it does. I can't stress this enough. Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC Update – Nov. 16, 2019 Created November 17, 2019Updated November 17, 2019 FollowPrint We have identified several ongoing issues some players are experiencing on specific machine configurations and are currently working to resolve them. While this is not a comprehensive list, we have identified the group of key remaining issues below as high priority problems that we are working to resolve in future updates targeted to release starting early next week. Crashes on Start Up We have identified several crashes as the game is booting related to certain settings configurations. We are currently testing fixes for these issues to implement as soon as possible. Crashes After Start Up In the last update we were able to fix instances where players reported their performance degraded over time. While this fix helped many players, it also highlighted other undiscovered crashes in certain circumstances that we are now addressing. "Mouse Cursor" Issues Some players using the Epic Games Launcher are experiencing issues with their mouse cursor. We’ve identified the root cause of this issue and will address it in the upcoming update. Until then, please follow the steps here to resolve the issue: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360038700293/ Settings Greyed out In order to implement certain workarounds related to ongoing issues, we have temporary delayed the accessibility of the settings menu. We will work to restore regular functionality in a future update. In the meantime, the setting options will be available after 120 seconds. Framerate Stuttering Some players have been experiencing intermittent frame rate stuttering despite powerful GPUs. We’re working closely with Nvidia to eliminate the remainder of these issues. Framerate Affecting Core Drain A small number of players are experiencing an issue where their framerate is altering how their cores drain. GPU Drivers Please note that many players are using older GPU drivers which have not been updated to support Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. @The_Liquor is right. There was actually a thread about it at one point where we posted pics from that period showing folks who had crossdraw holsters, etc. Here's the thing..... The main reason for someone carrying more than one handgun was simply because it was much faster to pull another pistol than reloading one especially a gun like the popular SAA Colt (represented as the Cattleman in RDR2) A cross-draw rig allows the shooter to draw both pistols using their dominant hand. ....which is forced as the right hand in the game. The whole concept of "dual wielding" is the ridiculous part IMO but its a popular thing in Hollywood movies and professional trick shooting so I see why it's included. That's not to say folks didn't have rigs like you describe but it would make more sense to me if they did it because they could shoot both weak and dominant handed rather than both. ......or maybe it was just a more comfortable way for them to carry two guns, or perhaps kind of stylish, etc. Here's one of the threads I mentioned:

....spurs maybe.

I got booted about 2 nights ago when I rarely ever do. I think it was after 45 minutes of play time though. .....I just logged off instead of retrying at that point. We also had a friend that had lag issues and a couple crashes. .....I did notice performance issues with my internet over the past few days really becoming a problem after 10PM leading to me having to reboot my router/modem. ....several times in the case of last night.

Now, I'm not really familiar with the whole posse system as I usually just play with 1-2 friends in RDO and I'am usually joining theirs, but I do know there are limitations on the # of posses a person can join, etc. that can cause issues. However, is it possible they are engaged in a task, activity or even a mission when you do this?

.......I think you mean "winch". When you said "wench", I was afraid to read the rest of your post.

Yeah.... I either let them bleed out if I'm skinning multiple animals or just shoot them if they are the only one I'm concentrating on at the moment. .....and/or I don't have time or desire to wait around for them to die.

Thanks for sharing @iFew.

I'd still report it to R* but in the meantime, I might be tempted to just try and Max it out now with a fishing marathon if it were me.

Possible BUG: Core Drain & Weight Loss is FPS bound
Kean_1 replied to Anteronoid's topic in Red Dead Online
Also saw an article about this from PC Gamer this morning. Thanks a lot @Anteronoid. It's appreciated that some are going out of their way to research and share potential solutions to these problems with the RDR2.org community. This is what it's all about IMO. -

11/13/19 RDR2 Official PC Update on Stuttering Issues, etc.
Kean_1 replied to Kean_1's topic in Red Dead Online
Of course. Thanks for posting possible fixes and I hope people will continue to do so. Just mentioning it in case people didn't know. The last patch to try and fix the stuttering issue wasn't the actually solution but a stop gap measure of sorts.
