If it persists, I would contact R* Support: https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.70053337.894380600.1573717831-275874444.1573717831 Not that it is related but I had an "0x2......" error tonight when I normally don't encounter them. I'm on PS4 although perhaps there was some kind of maintenance being performed? EDIT: I'd also check this thread out as one of those solutions may work for you. Different error but who knows.

Windows DEP (possible fix for random crashing)
Kean_1 replied to Anteronoid's topic in Red Dead Online
Reposting what was in the link since the text in the OPs post was a little tough to read with the grey on grey text. WARNING: Disabling DEP can be dangerous. The issue is, RDR2.exe is a 64-bit program, so we can't add an exception for it within the DEP settings. It would need to be disabled. But that's bad news, because DEP is what helps protect Windows programs from being exploited. It tries to only let programs access portions of system memory that they're supposed to access, and nothing more. When an application tries to access system memory that it shouldn't have access to, or inject information into that system memory, DEP will reject that access, likely causing a fault in the application. Also, disabling it makes your system more vulnerable by several magnitudes to memory injection exploits. So, all of that being said, you really shouldn't disable DEP, as the game accessing portions of system memory that it's not supposed to could cause corruptions in your system, or in the game itself, causing other faults and issues. It might help keep your game from crashing, but I really don't think it's worth disabling it. The other issue is, is that even if we disable DEP, it doesn't mean the poor coding in RDR2 isn't going to still cause a crash. It just means that DEP won't be the reason anymore. Something else down the line will fail instead. RDR2 is still accessing system memory that it shouldn't and corrupting it, causing faults in the application, and if it is accessing system memory that it shouldn't, it could corrupt other applications or systems resources, which could send you down a whole other rabbit hole of issues to address. So, all-in-all, this is good information to know, and hopefully Rockstar devs have figured it out and are working on the code, but there's honestly nothing we can do to fix it. That's up to Rockstar at this point. And if I know Rockstar, and I think I do, they're pretty slow at patching their games. But who knows, maybe all of the negative media and outcry on the internet will light a fire under their collective asses. They have to be hemorrhaging money at this point with all of the refunds. Something we CAN do is everyone send in a support ticket outlining the information here, asking to have it sent to the developers. If they haven't figured it out (I'm sure they have), then at least we maybe accomplished something with this information. Besides, I've had a lot of luck simply setting RDR2.exe priority to "High" in Task Manager: Task Manager > Details Tab > RDR2.exe > Priority > High As far as what to look for when your game is crashing, per instructions here, I found this information: You may have to go into Event Viewer and sift through the logs for Event ID 1000. If you find one, it may look like this: Event ID : 1000 - DEP Error : Generic Host Process for Win32 Services - DEP : Application Error Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 This is the RDR2.exe error for when it crashes: Thanks to u/wungobungo521 for pointing this out. -

11/13/19 RDR2 Official PC Update on Stuttering Issues, etc.
Kean_1 replied to Kean_1's topic in Red Dead Online
It also said this which I repeated in the two other posts you made about this: "However, we are still currently working together with Nvidia to completely resolve the stuttering issue in a future update and it may take us up to a few days to properly test everything and ensure the next update completely solves the problem." I'm not saying your stuttering issues will be fixed in the next few days then the next update hits but let's be honest here about what they actually said. As for the other issues, I would definitely report them to R* Support. Let them know that the problems started after the last patch, etc. https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.70053337.894380600.1573717831-275874444.1573717831 -
No problem. I can't say I relate to your situation but I can understand some folks creating real life connections in games I guess. As for Parley, I believe your horse is also protected but just as important is the fact that your are spawned away from the immediate area when activated allowing you to escape. Without it, you will be spawned near the site where you were attacked and still within striking distance of your aggressors. Personally, I think your too fixated on the level thing. It really doesn't have that big of an impact on the gameplay IMO / IME. Sure, weapon selection is a little limited at first but it doesn't take long at all to get a decent rifle and shotgun to help defend yourself. .....then better weapons as you progress. ....and more lethal ammo, etc. I've been playing since the game released and I wasn't lying when I talked earlier about how little we had in the way of protection from griefers. However, even back then my encounters with trolls were few and far between. A lot of that had to do with how I interacted in the game world as I explained. I saw people back then get frustrated and we even had several big threads about it where some of us shared tips and tricks, suggestions, etc. to help players mitigate the problem. These days, a lot of the anti-griefing measures have really helped like the proximity blips, Defensive Mode, improved hostility system, the revised parley, penalties, etc. You have to remember that there is also the option to join a posse with friends or even randoms. ....not that I think that is necessary because with the anti-griefing features, good situational awareness and some proactive techniques / tactics, folks really shouldn't have that much of a problem. ....just realize that it can happen but be prepared to move on and don't give the trolls the benefit of your time. .....unless of course you want to.

Let R* know you want it back in the game. Who knows..... I enough people ask, then maybe it will make a reappearance. https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadonline/feedback?step=decd9bdb

Yeah, you never know what fix intended for something else might actually help another problem. .....or make it worse. Guess we'll have to see. I'll cross my fingers for ya. -
Can't remember if I mentioned it in here, but don't forget about other money making opportunities like treasure maps that you get at lvl 10 and every 5th lvl thereafter, daily challenges, the Awards in the Progress menu (gold and XP), etc.

"However, we are still currently working together with Nvidia to completely resolve the stuttering issue in a future update and it may take us up to a few days to properly test everything and ensure the next update completely solves the problem." btw, this Tweet is regarding the "stuttering issue", not necessarily the crashes some have. .....but from my understanding, they are working on that too. In the meantime, I'd check some of these threads in the PC section here. Some folks may be posting a potential solution that works for you. -
I have liked most things in the updates so far. I appreciate how they have refined some of the mechanics and really tried to include those who may not prefer conflict with other players. Definitely.... I hated scrolling through loads of other weapons that are essentially useless to me as they are not ones I prefer. Of course, now I know I'll end up leaving something behind that I finally needed and not have it. 😁 I did that in GTAO a few times.

It's been brought up before but R* has pointed out that they are really not interested in dividing players like that. Right, wrong or indifferent, they want RDO to be an all inclusive experience. Obviously, this will disappoint some who want specific modes like free aim, passive/private/PvE, etc. but it's what they have been driving towards and the reason they've taken the stance they have on griefing.

A big part of that has to do with our community. These are simply a great group of people for the most part and a reason I agreed to become a mod here to help. ....and that's the other part. The staff and owner here is always watchful of how fellow community members are treated, etc. We get troublemakers that join but the worst of them don't tend to last long. Some folks seem to come from sites like Reddit and then expect that's how it works here. ....not so much. .....but if I had to nail it down to one thing being the reason this site seems to work so well, it would definitely be the community. Just a great group of folks.

Updates for hte issues like the ones some folks have been encountering on PC are usually addressed with hotfixes sometimes on R*'s end. .....meaning no patch/ fix they need to push to the player. Patches can come whenever but some issues are resolved in title updates. ....again, those can come whenever. Updates in the form of some content drops, new modes, bonuses, etc. have been coming regularly every Tuesday as mentioned but these don't usually address bugs, etc. The thing is R* doesn;t always announce when they fix something on their end so sometimes things that are broken we find simply work one day.

It's not useless. No offense but It would help if you knew how these mechanics function so you can best utilize them to mitigate the issue with griefers: Press Charges: When a lower Hostility player is killed without retaliating they will have an option to “Press Charges” during the respawn period, which will enforce an increase on their attacker’s Hostility and Bounty value. Press Charges is not available if you are a high Hostility player or marked as an enemy to the player who killed you. This feature will help further increase the player's hostility and bounty while also making them more visible to others. .....others who then in turn could engage them if they wish to do so. The function in itself does little to stop the griefing (unless someone is worried about their hostility level making them more visible to others) but gives the victim some level of recourse to help identify abusive players. However, when used in conjunction with the next feature we're going to discuss, that's when these options are useful..... Case in point.... One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. As mentioned, Parley in RDO isn't a "sit down" with the offender so you guys can talk it out. It's simply a time out of sorts to allow you to get away from the conflict. It works by spawning you further away from the action and puts a timer (10 minutes was mentioned) where neither you nor the attackers can harm one another. This is meant to allow players time to escape the area and go about their business if they wish. The "Press Charges" function merely gives the victim who wants to flee some sort of recourse. Alternatively, you also have the option to Feud with your attackers instead of selecting Parley. ....if PvP is your kind of thing. R* has been tweaking this system for a while. Initially, you could only Parley after being killed 3 times by an individual. That meant that larger posses could take turns to the point where it would seem you would never get the option. Earlier this year they changed that so you only have to die once to initiate the option and it applies to their entire posse (not just the individual player who kills you). Defensive Mode can also be quite useful as others won't have the advantage of auto aim (neither will you), lethality/damage is decreased toward your character and you have the option to retaliate against your attacker(s) without a penalty to your hostility level if you choose to do so. Level has little to do with any advantage players have over one another after a certain point IMO / IME. .....lvl 90 or thereabouts I believe is the last unlock for specific types of ammo as I recall. I see low level griefers, high level griefers and ones in between. Trolls will be trolls. Use the systems available to you to help reduce their leverage against you whether that's a higher level or numbers of players Again, that was my point. If I were you, I would take some time to first learn how these defensive mechanics / options work and use them. Initiating Parley in that scenario would have helped save you a lot of frustration as the first death would likely have been their only action against you. btw, just because I mention using the tools available in the game to help counter griefing doesn't automatically mean I condone the action or relish in your misery. I'm trying to help here. Perhaps I can tolerate it better than you because I use the systems the game provides. While not foolproof, they help cut short the griefer's fun and / or help mitigate the problem all together. Besides that, I also use strategies that I have since the game first launched when everyone was visible on the radar at any distance, Parley was essentially useless due to how many kills it took to implement, there was essentially no hostility system, no Defensive Mode, etc. If you're really bothered by the possibility of being griefed again and/or are in a similar situation, my suggestions would be: Start using Defensive Mode if you are not already. Learn how it works and use it to your advantage. For Pete's sake, use the Parley option if you are killed by a troll or otherwise in a situation where you want to avoid being continually griefed. Don't trust randoms. .....period. If I see a blue dot on the outer edges of my radar, I know they see me so I take action right away especially if I'm alone. .....that action includes getting the hell out of Dodge before they can rush me. My horse is always kept next to me when I play solo so I can be on it and running before someone is upon me. Assuming you're in Defensive Mode, zig-zag while riding away from a potential threat. This makes it much harder for them to get a shot because (remember) auto aim is disabled while in Defensive. If you're worried someone will follow you, run from the area until they drop off completely on your radar. At that point, change your course a few degrees. .....follow another road, get off the road you're on, use the terrain to your advantage, double back if possible, etc. Remember, as long as your hostility is low, if you can't see them on your radar, they can't see you either. ....use that to your advantage. Consider keeping your gun drawn near randoms if your willing to defend yourself and never turn your back on someone. Even when riding away I will still watch them. When with a posse, we usually spread out when passing by randoms and keep our weapons ready. .....again, someone or all are always watching their moves. The lead will usually stop and turn toward the potential threat until the rest of the posse passes. When spawning into the game, choose a state that is a couple regions away from where you plan to go. The game tends to spawn most players in the same general area. This helps reduce the chance of running into people. I've been doing this tactic since I first discovered how the spawning worked early on. This also goes for missions that reinsert you into new sessions. Consider joining a posse as was suggested. There are plenty of folks looking to recruit or simply find another player they can have fun with. Just having one more friendly player can make a huge difference. Sometimes just being in a posse is a deterrent in itself as some griefers will simply not bother with you. Lastly, don't take it so personal. Griefers grief because they want you to be upset by their actions. Don't give them the satisfaction. I rarely get griefed (and I mean rarely), and most time it's due to my own fault and I see it coming. .....sometimes it's simply out of curiosity to see what they will do. The thing is, I don't let it bother me too much. I use the tools, modes and options available and move on. Just because I tolerate the few times I am griefed doesn't mean I like it. .....but I'm also not making it easy for them by ignoring the options made available to me to help mitigate the problem.

It wasn't. It became an issue when the roles were introduced likely because so many are trying to use the feature now. I'll wager the problem isn't due to some bug but simply a flaw in the logic / design that the new content has made much more apparent.

Well, if people don't say anything and/or have you muted, I wouldn't expect that they would be open to chatting with you either. .....but who knows. I have had an open mic on in Free Roam and it appears some will still have this selected but simply don't speak as they were able to acknowledge my commands, etc. To be honest, I can't see taking my hands away from the controls to type a response to some random I'm trying to interact with. My suggestion is to use the mic still and if they fail to acknowledge you with a response, emote or through their actions, they probably don't want to be bothered anyhow. For me, I have voice chat disabled in game and only use the PS4s party chat feature to talk with friends. After all this time, I rarely found myself even the slightest bit interested in what randoms had to say which was mostly insults, rude noises (e.g.eating, background music, belching, etc.) or useless banter. I would use R*s Feedback site to suggest it to them though as text chat is something PC folks use way more often than console. I'll wager it's a popular request.
