In case anyone is wondering, Rockstar confirmed the beta for online will go live at the end of November. I am assuming this will be after Thanksgiving.

So there is no official date, but at least for anyone wondering, you now know when to expect to be able to play. 👍

EDIT: Can one of the mods please move this... I just posted it in the wrong section after telling someone else they posted in the wrong section... ffs lol

I am guessing we won't know the exact day and time it will launch until a few days before it happens...

Or maybe they will just spring it on all of us out of nowhere. I think I might prefer that. Be like a surprise.

Finished or not, I think it was a good move to wait on the online because of the story mode. I feel like if both were to come out on the same day, I would feel rushed.

I keep that was planned way in advance, so that they don't waste money on servers.   Pretty smart planning actually.  Gives players a chance to make a few runs through the story mode, start to get bored with it.  Then BAM!, a brand new game mode to add some spice.

They even said that they wanted players to experience the campaign first.  ....to get used to the game world, mechanics and controls before diving into RDO.

Exactly.

The online wasn't ready, and they made a point that we could have time to finish the story and learn the game mechanics before we play Red Dead Online. It's a valid point to buy Rockstar time to finish Red Dead Online, as they said they are still in the works of developing it.

I think there is a reason they wanted people to play the story first. Like if you just got the game to go online, it might put you at a disadvantage.  Like I have a feeling some of what you do in the story may bleed over.

Yeah, the story is great, but I think most people are going straight for Red Dead Online. Yes, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been released for a week or so now, but there is still a lot of people left to still buy the game, and especially Christmas players. Also, by the time the Christmas players have the game, Red Dead Online will be out and in full effect.

Oh I know. I have a few friends who only got GTA V to play it online and since it did so well and they constantly gave people new content, it was worth the cost when you think of it that way. I am sure a lot of people look at these games that feature heavy online play and only buy them to play online. Call of Duty was one of the big ones. They finally stopped making a story mode and focused more on the core of their audience which was primarily online gamers. I don't think Rockstar would ever do that though since they are known for their single player games but they are trying to appeal to both kinds of players now in a big way.

As crazy as it sounds... I wish RDR2 campaign was longer. I just want more haha.

IKR, campaign (along with the side missions) WAS pretty long, but I agree, I would have liked it to be longer.  There's still tons to do outside of the story missions, and I'd imagine one of the reasons they want to give people a chance to do finish the story first is that there will be missions Online that could spoil the story if you hadn't finished it.  Like how GTA:O had missions from some of the story characters.  Don't remember any of the specifics, but they probably made more sense happening after the story, with possible spoilers if you hadn't finished it yet.  I'm hoping RD:O comes out just before Thanksgiving so that I can spend my time off with it.  The suspense of not knowing exactly when is making me antsy.

I am sure they will add on to it, I mean it would be the smart thing to do. Like maybe do $20 addition packs that will add in new missions for John or a means to play as Arthur again and go back in time a bit. There is a lot they can do really.

Yeah, there's a lot they CAN do to add to the story, but they probably won't do so with Story Mode.  As they did with GTA:O, I'm sure they'll focus on the online portion and the story will remain as it is, or any additions to the story will be in online only missions.

Yeah, story DLC would be awesome.

I am not sure why they didn't give us a date but I guess they learned their lesson from promising dates. Either way, I am looking forward to hopping on it soon as it launches and goes live!

They learned their lesson as well, which is probably why they won't give an exact release date as they don't want to promise something they can't keep.

I think I just got a big spoiler... in the Red  Dead Redemption Forum... in the online mode sub-forum... without spoiler tag... am I right?

Can you source this? I haven't found anywhere where it was indeed confirmed. I would think they would want to launch it near the weekend as well, not on a Tuesday.

I have a feeling he's either trolling or guessing (first post and then no follow up).  Besides, I would have seen something through Twitter from one of my sources on this if it were official.

Never trust info like this unless someone can quote a source.  ......and even then take it with a grain a salt depending on who that source is.

Than I would suggest reporting it.  .....don't quote it again.

I swear, I can't go anywhere without worrying someone is going to ruin the rest of this game for me.

Yes, we are searching and looking to take action against spoilers. Make sure you guys please report them as soon as possible if we can't find them in time before people start reading them. The forum is getting much bigger, and information gets scattered everywhere, unfortunately.

I was thinking it launched but yeah, I didn't see anything either. If I had to guess, I would say they will launch it on the 30th. Black Friday is next weekend and I don't know if they want to compete with all the shopping people do that weekend. I also think they want the online beta to start on a Friday as opposed to a Tuesday.
