I know this isn't current as it is no longer on the air, but I'm really liking the Deadwood series.

Hell yeah! That was one of my favorites back when it was still new. I can't remember if it was an HBO show or a Showtime one but I felt that it should have went on longer.

A friend of mine just mentioned that show the other day. I was thinking of starting it but I don't know where to actually watch it.

It’s on Netflix

Is anyone watch The Witcher? I am curious how that show is doing. Loved the games but I am not sure if this will be something worth watching.

I don't think it releases until the 20th.

But if it has a Spartacus level of gratuitous sex and violence, I'd be down.

Yeah it don't start till the 20th. I had thought it started on the 13th for some reason which is likely what he thought too.

I think it will end up being a great show if they stick true to the general scope of the game.

The only new-for-2019 show I've seen so far is Batwoman. Haven't bothered with reviews, but I've been enjoying it. Not sure if it's your cup of tea though.

I have run myself dry with hero movies but series seem to be okay. I will give it a shot. I just feel like most programming is force feeding us strong female leads and that has put me off movies and television in many regards but it isn't fair to cast such a big shadow when I know female leads for the right story are phenomenal. Bill Kill is a good example, though a movie and not a series, loved that one. Talks of doing another are in the works too. I would love to see a series myself.

Batwoman isn't really all that "in your face" about its female lead, at least IMO. I had fears it would just be a black-suited version of Supergirl with all the same woken BS, but it turned out not to be. There was one egregious line in an early trailer that stood out to me where Kate claimed the Batsuit's only flaw was that it didn't fit a woman (paraphrasing, not exact quote), but it didn't seem to make it into the actual show.

When I was into comics, loved me some Batwoman and what you mentioned fits her character. They could have easily made her woke af but it would have been too much because she is already a very independent strong female character.

Admittedly, my only prior experiences with the Batwoman character were the movies Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman and Batman: Bad Blood, but that doesn't surprise me. I don't read a lot of superhero comics, mainly just horror stuff like The Walking Dead, Crossed, and Stitched. Supergirl issues aside, the creative team behind the Arrowverse seem to be among the few who legitimately respect the source material judging from my limited perspective. I have my suspicions as to why Supergirl, unlike the other Arrowverse shows, is so woke, but I think that's way beyond the scope of this thread.

At least they didn't make Oliver wear that ridiculous Robin Hood cap, though. That's one deviation from the source I'm thankful for.

I want to go back and watch it again. It has been a while since I have seen it. Wasn't that show from back in like 2003 or something?

I think. I purchased it on the Google Play Store with the movie. I'm about to finish season 1.

Yeah you were right. I did watch a few episodes. It was not what I was expecting but I will give it sometime see if things pick up.

Give it time to pick up. Anything like this takes time to really get moving. I personally enjoyed the first episodes I have watched. I think it is really going to take off in the coming episodes.

How come no one mentioned the expanse? I just recently got the 3rd season on DVD. The problem with the expanse is that I can't get enough of it but it'll be ages before the 4th season comes to the UK  on DVD.

Yeah, I had forgotten about that. I read the books when they came out and loved the series. I’ve not managed to see more than ep 1 of series 4 yet. I’m also in the UK, but have an amazon prime subscription so watch it on streaming.

Never heard of it myself but I will check it out since I have prime as well. What is the basis of it and who is in it?

Wikipedia has a pretty good synopsis

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Expanse_(TV_series)

If you like hard Sci-Fi, you’ll love it  the series has gained a fair few industry awards

I'll give this a watch this weekend. Sounds pretty good. It reminds me a bit of another show I watched years ago, can't remember the game but it dealt with future world politics and social issues.

My sister got me watching This Is Us. It is not a typical show for dudes, I mean I would imagine the majority of the audience is female but the way it is written interested me. Plus it has Mandy Moore in it and she is still a fox.

Started watching Shameless recently. Heard it tanks in later seasons but am enjoying it thus far. Had a few good laughs out of it.

I watched the British version first. Didn't even know there was one for the US until halfway through. I am going to be starting that one up next once a few more of my shows finish.

Finished up Bojack the other day. Very solid show. This has to be one of the most clever adult cartoons out there. Had I just went based on instincts of it being on Netflix and sounding stupid and never watching it, I would have missed out.

Been in the mood for some comedy lately. Any recommendations for sitcoms or anything like that? Maybe a comedy series? Anything I see being recommended on sites are things I have no interest in or have already watched.

"For All Mankind" on Apple TV was good, I enjoyed that.

Looking forward to the season 2 of Altered Carbon, which starts tomorrow on Netflix.

And Ragnarok.  I'm enjoying this as well.  Slightly off-kilter, but nice for not being American.

Surprised that no one has said it yet, given how overwhelmingly popular it is

I've been watching The Simpsons again lately, (not that new seasons garbage). It's on Disney+.

Good for if you want to melt your brain for a few hours.
