New Online Leak?

Could all be bull but the main take away, for those of you that don’t have the time to watch the video is this:

-Committing certain crimes will result in a wanted level and you’ll have lawmen on your trail.

-Bounties are back but you may not realize you have one placed on you until towns folk react to your presence unfavorably or you see your wanted poster(?). (Which you can take down). Bounty hunters (other players) can question NPCs on your whereabouts.

-To find bounties check wanted posters and newspapers.

- Players will only be visible on your map when they’re in a certain radius of you. Friends and crew will always be on your map, no matter the distance.

-Similar to time trials in GTA, there’ll be treasure hunts.

-Dead eye won’t slow down time Online but will allow you to X people.

-Houses can be bought. Tents may have different colors and features.

-Battle Royal mode tested but not approved.

-Your GTA character can not be ported but a heritage tree is featured in creating your Online character.

This is something I like a lot. I don't want to be seen at all times. This will be the old west. I like the idea that you can accidentally stumble on other players and gangs.

Was just going to post a thread on some of these things. I read about it on another site. I don't know how much of this is true but I am not mad about any of this. Everything sounds like it will be on par with GTA V online, only slightly tweaked to work with the times as well as work better than before. I am glad we can buy houses too. I did not want to live in a damn tent... Not that we'd be spending much time at "home" anyways.

I heard about this leak, obviously you've gotta take all of this with a pinch of salt but I personally hope this turns out to be legit. I like the way bounties are apparently gonna work and how you can only see the people on the map when they're near you, if this is all made up BS whoever thought it up has quite the imagination.

Really, if you look at the list and all the things mentioned, anyone who plays a lot of games could have easily made this up. You don't need that much creativity. Just take aspects from other games and tweak them to sound like something Rockstar could/would do.

This is interesting. I am not sure why they would do this though like there is no reason to link both games together in any fashion.

The way the radar/map is supposedly gonna work would definitely be a departure from how it works in Rockstar's other online games and I've personally never seen an online freeroam game where only players in your vicinity show up on your map, I've also not seen any game use an online bounty system that is anything like the one described in this supposed leak.

If all this were true then it would make sense in realism terms. I said in another post that I don't want my blip just showing on someone's radar when I'm 5 miles away up in the mountains. I want to be able to relax without some nonce coming and griefing me because they know exactly where I am. If I did want to get in a fight I could go looking for people in towns etc, which would make it much more interesting, as you're searching for people, rather than just setting a waypoint and travelling there.

In terms of the bounty system, this too would make sense from a realism perspective. It's how bounties would have worked then and it wouldn't detract too much from how you do them, in fact for me it would add to the immersion.

Remember, just because other games don't work like this, and just because R$ haven't done it that way in the past, doesn't mean they won't do it now. They didn't have perma deaths for horses either.

As I stated earlier I hope this leak is legit as I believe the gameplay features described would work really well in Red Dead Online. I wasn't making a point that other online games don't work like this because I thought Rockstar wouldn't take Red Dead Online in this direction, I was pointing it out because although I take all supposed leaks with a pinch of salt I don't share JACK's view that someone just made all this up after looking at some other games.

I feel like some of this holds truth but other parts may be exaggerated or made up. I mean the whole radar thing, that sounds perfect for this game, especially for an old west game. Having played things like Blacklight Retribution, a similar thing has been done in other games. However, you only go invisible when you are staying still or moving slow. I think Halo was another one that did this.

I would actually rather see something more fine-tuned than this. Rather than having to be "x distance away" from someone or them having to be moving quickly to show up, I would like to see it where you have to see them on screen (visual awareness like with AIs) or they have to be performing a certain action that would trigger loud sounds... Using an unsilenced gun, traveling on a horse, using dynamite, things like that should trigger people to pop up on the radar.

They have John Marston as an option for your GTA Online character's father, which I did lol. I guess my Red Dead Online character will be somehow related to Marston if the heritage tree thing is true.

I imagine they will have the Marston family tree as an option, so you have to feel bad for the other ones who will literally never get chosen. They probably put the work experience kid on developing those knowing no one will ever look past Marston.

Will be interesting how the horses will work online. Can't have your prized horse being shot by some spiteful kid now, so my guess is they won't give it a permadeath.

I'm sure their will be horse killings online I'm not a big fan of it but it's part of game. I hope the atmosphere online won't be the one on gta5 online hopefully we can all respect each other and go about our online experiences without the spiteful little kids ruining our day.

Maybe the horses will be a bit more protected in online so that people can't go around just killing and stealing other peoples horses. I mean kill or steal a horse but it should be able to re-spawn again even if you maybe lose a bit of the bond with the horse or something.

I imagine this especially more important because we'll no doubt get the opportunity to buy a few of them along the way.

I kind of assumed this would be the case. You can't have things slow down on your screen when the person you are targeting isn't actually moving slower. The x is a nice touch though.

Well now, this is something I kind of like. It adds a nice sense of realism to the game. I am hoping this is true. I really wanna see online be true to the old west as possible.

IMO it needs this in order to separate it from GTAO. I really don't want just a rehash of GTAO on horses.

Again, if it’s all true- I love the idea of having to go hunting for the whereabouts of a bounty. Heading into town reading a poster and having to question NPCs, get a last known location and then start the search. Could take an hour to actually find them, and then the climactic conclusion.

In GTA, you get a bounty and everyone knows  it in 2 seconds. You're easily spotted on the map and soon everyone’s after you.

A lot of the time people in GTA message someone to get their bounty off them for them because having one on you is annoying. One time someone msgd me when I was in a Hydra, so I flew over to them, tried to kill them but missed and crashed instead. I just quit the session.

Gosh I hated bounties in GTA V so much. I don't want to see that kind of crap again. I like the hidden aspect of this rumor/leak much more.

See for me, I liked them but I didn't like how they did them entirely. The whole thing ends up being a mess cause you are automatically a target on the map without even doing anything or being around anyone. You can easily avoid it too by staying in your apartment.

Digressing slightly but what was there to do in your apartment? I was bored within 30 seconds.

I sure hope we can do more things in our dang houses/tents/whatevers this time around. GTAV was just meh with our apartment options. Like they should have allowed us to do some more things.

Any thoughts on what these things could be?

I think this’ll be tricky. An 1899 tent probably had a lot less entertainment then a modern day, million dollar, high rise apartment. But I’ll give it a shot.

....whittling.

Yeah, I heard there will be crafting in the game so maybe this could be an activity in the camps/tents, so rather than just clicking a button and shazaam the thing is made you have to actually spend time doing it.
