Here is exactly what was mentioned in the 1.17 TU patch notes so there is no misunderstanding in regard to the animal spawn "fixes".  Its obvious that this is still a work in progress.

btw, I included this TU info in the Animal Spawn thread as well as that is really all this patch is for (to partially fix for some).

I'm leaving this here for now as I think it's important that folks know what the patch was for.  When I get to computer I'll add the date to the title like the updates so it's more visible to people.  .....and then I'll add it to the sticky, update reference.

Thanks to you and @HuDawgfor making us aware of it

  • Kean_1 changed the title to 2/13/20: Title Update 1.17 for PS4 / XB1

So I am starting to see more animal spawns, though they are sporadic - here one minute and gone the next. I do check the player number in my lobby every time and we have been 23 or more. I’m gonna remain optimistic and keep thinking that they are working on the balancing behind the scenes and the 1.17 patch was done to allow them to get the bugs for animals and dynamic events worked out. I’m also hoping that they were able to figure out what happened when they added the moonshiner role so that when we get the next big update it won’t happen again. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Fyi....  There's nothing about dynamic events in the patch notes.  Just talks about the animal spawns and possibly fixing the issue for some. .....we'll have to see what future patches will do to (hopefully) correct the issue for everyone.

To answer the question….3 GB download , ps4 pro.

1 hour of play.

2 ravens and a bird in the bush at same time. ( I took the 2 birds in the hand rather than the 1 in the bush).  1 alligator in middle of the swamp and I ain't swimming out there for the carcass.

On the plus side cripps has been drunk in the woods or something for at least a week now.  He finally pitched a tent today without me trying unsuccessfully.

Game crashed as I found last piece of lost jewelry,  I just never logged back in.

IMO, Game is still look for collectables or do a mission/bounty.  16 or less on a server everything is wonderful.

Right on... don’t worry it’s just me being optimistic and I won’t be on here complaining because they didn’t do something that I am hopeful for. IMO I think the only reason the animal spawn was mentioned in their notes was to keep everyone from continuing to say that they aren’t addressing it and if it doesn’t work or takes longer than they expected, no one can blast them for not trying.

Honestly the 1.17 patch could have been scheduled months ago to get ready for the next big update and they simply threw the animal spawn nugget in the patch notes released just to make sure we all know that they are aware of it and working towards a fix.

Yeah, not saying it doesn't suck. Hell, I stopped playing weeks ago mostly due to it. I also think it should have been addressed much faster than they have.  ....I understand the deep disappointment and bitterness some feel.

I'm just glad many here continue to share their input, workarounds, etc. as it helps others also dealing with this problem affecting their gameplay.  There's nothing wrong with venting either but (personally) unless someone from R* were here, I don't see the point carrying on about it beyond a certain point. Everyone is essentially in the same boat.

That's just my own, personal feelings about it though. Some will disagree.

Ended up hopping on the console version to do the update and see what happened. Not many changes I can notice. Still very few animal spawns and the online lobbies in general seem to be dead not just from the lack of players either. Here's to hoping something gets done sooner than later or I will be another one to shelf the game.

Ok so i logged in for about an hour or so and didnt really notice anything changed but after 30 mins of play i came across 3 gators and 2 boars - i havent seen them online in quite some time in the swamps. After i killed them and started looking for more things were still the same. No animals just some birds.  Camp started to despawn again without any reason.....

No point in playing for me until it gets resolved.

Got yesterday update 3,6 Gb and this afternoon (EU) again 3,6 Gb.

Why? Get the impression R* provides same update. No background info/version ???? Is same size a coincidence ?

Disconnected several times. Grrrrrr

Hey fellers as @Kean_1 mentioned its a work in progress and we must remain vigilant. Our whole community gathers a few times a week and make our own fun such as made up versions of posse vs posse. Scavenger hunts basically , must have 4 different large fish from all different locations , plus full hunting wagons and first posse to designated area with proof of goods wins. Another we are going to try is 2 posses , 7 in each , I draw a name from hat , that person is the bounty ! There posse must protect him or her while the other is tasked with capturing them and making it to set destination alive. Also we been doing a lot of fight clubs. Just use your imagination and MAKE it fun untill it's stable. 🍺

Animal spawns were better yesterday but still not back to normal. Loading after dying seemed to take an age. Downloading today’s massive update to see what that brings.

The absolute best thing about yesterday’s update had to be the train running the route from St Denis to Emerald Ranch with no track! If you try to stay on, even in the driver cab, trees knock you off to your death. I don’t know how they manage to introduce some of this bizarre sh*t to a game that’s been out over a year!

It is obvious two updates within two days testifies R*'s commitment to solve the problems. IMO the game is became too complex to oversee the landscape of impact bcoz one correction causes somewhere else a newone.

Well the thing is this game works perfectly with limited amount of players in the lobbies.

Simple solution for the time being is doing just that.  And Private lobbies.. and more lobby types would also help players pick and choose.  Splitting the player base up as it should be based on play preference.

I mean, R* needs to make a choice.  Whats more important?   Packed lobbies with randoms, that they HOPE will be hostile towards other players in hopes of hindering players earning, so they buy "GOLD".   OR a functional, fun game.

Honestly, I don't even blame R* anymore.   IMO the people running this sh*t now is Take Two.    Its only a matter of time now till Take Two fully controls R* anyways.

I decided to update the console version of the game even though I mainly been playing on PC as of late and I did notice more animals but not enough to justify getting excited over. I had a good 20 to 30 minute hunting session and then I was back to not being able to find anything again.

It is a 50/50 chanse on the animals.

If it works it is about 80% of how it was pre moonshiner update.  Got ambushed by a cugar today, havent had that happend to me since first week of december, and i saw a buttload of wildboars in the woods between rodes and SD.
