This may piss some people off but I have said for the longest time that generally consoles are overrated. In comparison to computers and what you can do now on a PC with gaming vs consoles, it is no contest. I play on both and enjoy both for different reasons but I still think that consoles are overrated. It is more of a convenience buy than anything if you ask me. If all the games I liked were available on PC, I wouldn't own a console.

Console only here.  This doesn't piss me off in the slightest.  Only an idiot would argue that Consoles are superior in terms of delivering the gaming experience.  What they do provide, however, is a lower price point of entry for the average consumer.  Not everyone can (or even wants) to spend upwards of $1000 on an above average gaming rig (including peripherals).  And even those who do, have to build it themselves to make it cost efficient.  Not everyone has that skill set.

With consoles, convenience and ease of use are the biggest selling points.  When I go on a trip, I can tote my PS4 through TSA screenings at an airport in my carry on luggage with minimal effort or concern.  A gaming laptop, which costs considerably more, may do the job as  well, but few are going to tote a PC tower, power supply, and peripherals around in carry on.  And I've seen how the baggage handlers take care of checked bags--there's a reason my PS4 flies carry on with me.

Believe me, if I could justify a decent PC for gaming, I'd pick one up in a heartbeat, but it's already difficult enough to keep my kids off the PS4 and their Kindles--a PC would make it impossible.

I've always been a fan of consoles because you can just buy a game and know that it will work. I always found PC a bit annoying when you have to mess about display settings to get a decent frame rate etc. I like the simplicity of consoles. Put the game in, play it. You may say "just buy a better PC so you don't have to do that" but then you're talking money, which to me isn't what it's about. I'd rather spend a lot less, get a bit less graphics quality, and be able to operate it when I stagger in drunk and want to shoot some 12 year olds on horseback.

I'd have to say the opposite... Sure, you can get better graphics/frame rate. But it's still just a pc. Just about anything you can do on a fancy $1000+ gaming pc, I can do on my xbox/smartphone. You're paying big bucks for slight differences in performance. Then again, I care more about the quality of the game itself than the frame rate/graphics.

Either way, for half the price I'm able to just about everything you can.

Out of context that does look a bit incriminating

Incriminating?  Have you met today's 12 year-olds?  I can only be told "how much sex they've had with my mom" while playing online so many times.

Pie. All kinds of pie. Be it apple, peach, pumpkin, banana cream, or cheesecake. They are all overrated. Every time I get excited for a slice of pie, I end up disappointed and single.

Well this escalated in a completely different direction than I thought it would. You are either using a metaphor here or your really "love" pie in a way I can't understand LOL

So far, 2019. I know I am being a wee bit of a pessimist here but nothing seems any different from where I am standing.

I guess I should get the ball rolling for change myself lol

Yeah, I agree with this. They are good but in comparison to all the other great artists out there now and even of their own time, there were certainly better ones.

Totally agree.  I gave up computer gaming for console gaming.  I was playing both Xbox 360 and then Xbox one while also computer gaming.   I was spending about 1200 every other year to keep up with computer gaming,  now i spend 3 or 400 every 4 years or so for consoles.  I spent like 250 for the 360, then about that much again for the 360 S.  Another 2 or 300 for the Xbox One, that again for the One S.  So that's what, maybe a grand in the last 14 years?

Ice Cream.

Don't @ me.

It is nothing but cream and sugar and it hurts my teeth. The texter is somewhere between milk and yogurt but lumpy. I just don't like it.

i've never had lumpy icecream unless it had something in it like chocolate chunks or nuts, etc. Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream is heaven in a tub.  I don't want to eat ice cream wherever @SNAK3S is at lol

The only lumpy ice cream I can think of is that shitty soft serve that they have at buffets. Some of them are good, but if it's not cooled/mixed properly it comes out milky/lumpy.

That's not really ice cream though.

I've made the ice cream that @Benjo posted in the food thread a few times. That was awesome and really easy to customize. The only change I made was adding a container of cool whip to sort of fluff it up a bit. I've made it into caramel, chocolate, and strawberry so far. The chocolate version came out tasting like a frosty. Every time I visit my parents, my nephew asks me to bring some over.

Nice!  i'll have to check out that thread :)  i was just looking up old west style recipes over the weekend.  Very hard to find legit recipes though, they've mostly all been converted to use now, like pinch and dash and splash are 1/2 tsp 1/4 tsp etc.

Every summer around memorial day or father's day, whenever all of my brother's familes and mine can get together we do home made ice cream.  One of my sis-in-laws found a bag method that was fun the first time. you put all the ice cream ingredients in a ziploc type bag, put that bag in a larger ziploc bag with ice and some rock salt, then shake the damn thing till it forms ice cream in the small bag.  Kids love it, but when you do that 3 or 4 times it gets super tiring.  Give me the gallon bucket and crank any day over that lol

I remember doing that one in foods class back in high school. It's good for what it is, but not something I'd care to have around. Took a minute, but I found it!

This makes a super creamy, expensive-style ice cream.

Base:

Whip with a hand or stand mixer 1 litre quality whipping cream (chilled) until fairly thick.

Add 1 can (the smaller ones) of chilled condensed milk. Continue whipping until super thick.

This is the same every time.

Then:

Add flavourings to taste. To make a simple vanilla add 3 tablespoons of quality vanilla extract. You can make any flavour you want, for instance, I add cocoa powder and homemade chocolate oreo fudge to one mix I do. Make vanilla oreo by crushing up a pack of oreos and mixing them in with the mixer, etc etc.

Enjoy!

Best part of it is that you don't need one of those fancy ice cream makers. Just mix the sh*t together and throw it in the freezer.

I also throw in some powdered sugar because I want my local dentist to stay in business (not really, just tastes good).

I now agree with this, although I did get asked for ID over the holidays, they figured I was 10 years younger than I actually was, I dunno what I'm doing but it wasn't a complaint on my part.

One thing I find overrated though, Oreo's, dunno why, just don't think they're all that.

agreed.  Latest thing i thought was overrated was Buell.  clunky standard horse, nothing special.  Fox Trotter and Arabians are better.

Last winter, Oreo released a limited edition with a cinnamon red-hot flavored filling that almost sent me into poverty.  The only thing better is a soft ginger cookie that's still warm from the oven.

My dreams are haunted by those Cinnamon Red Hot Oreos.  When they released their "Holiday" edition with red filling his year, I almost cried with happiness.  That cry turned into a wailing and gnashing of teeth when I found out the same red filling was no longer cinnamon based.  I'm pretty certain my emails to Nabisco have put me on some sort of watch list as a result.

I randomly stumbled across a thread in Reddit that said you could make a homemade Bilzzard with just ice cream and one of those big, heavy duty Kitchen Aid Mixers.  As we have the mixer already (wedding gift), I tried it out, and I'll be damned if it wasn't better than a regular Blizzard from [Insert Franchise Frozen Dariy Provider Here].  Probably because I could load it with whatever I wanted.

I chose Fireball and Nerds.

Nice!  might have to try that, i just ordered myself a ninja blender.

Speaking of nerds, one of the fast food joints i frequented before i moved here (so this would be about 10 years ago) had nerds in one of their drinks.  My son and i went there every day after work until they ended that special.  Sonic Drive In i'm thinking it was?
