Played with a group, last week or so. They was all friends with some of the ugliest characters in the game. When I joined they introduced themselves. The 1st guy walks up a says we are are the Lee Family Posse. I'm Ug Lee, that over their is my brother Home Lee, and he continued I just couldn't stop laughing.3 points

I'm sure it's fine. Unlike mine, who look like they stepped off a boat from the island of Dr. Moreau. I've spent more time in the character creator than I have actually playing RDO at this point.3 points

Myself and a friend where riding and noticed someone go off little cliff and her horse was dying. "Alls i heard her saying was "DAMN IT!" "sh*t!" So we both ride up to her.. And shes says, "Great you bastards to here to kill me" While she pulled out her guns and aims at us. So i says "Relax babe, just gonna help your horse" and gave her horse a horse reviver. And just like that made a new RDR friend. Hooked her up with all my old skool GTA O friends, so she doesn't haven't to roll solo anyomore. And showed her a place to get piles of horse revivers. .3 points

So, i went hunting with my friend in armadillo desert last night.. Looking for some decent birds. Suddenly we see a red dot approaching and we agree that we just let ourselves be in good faith and continue to walk around and pick flowers on and on. (lol) - He walks down from his horse and we both expect him to shoot us both .. That was not the case .. He waves, and we can see that he is level 100+, completely packed in the most expensive clothes, and all his weapons are gold ... He used his most expensive weapon and shot a pair of perfect pelts for us to take with us to town and sell.. . He then rode away again! I hate the Griefers.. And i most certain hate the fact, that someone just goes into rampage, leaving those who want to chill, for death, but these things DO happen.. And when it does, it feels a bit unreal! Any of you guys had an experience with a high level player kindness?2 points

Quick tip... As soon as someone lassos you, pull up your weapon wheel and pull out your knife. That breaks the lasso animation. Since most griefers just run around killing people and not learning the game ,they have no idea you can do this, so you can get up and kill them.2 points

Stage 1: Prevention. Avoid known trouble spots, like Valentine and Blackwater. When newly spawned always crouch, hide and map. Toggle horse settings to posse only and turn off chat. Check map for pinks and avoid, take detours rather than encounter. Be in a posse, watch each other's backs, always look tough and ready for a fight. Be extra vigilant when carrying pelts or nearing a butcher. If you have to pause, be in a shop. Stage 2: Engagement. If lassoed, break free and shoot. Have solid weapons, like sawn offs or varmint or Lancaster, upgraded, loaded, clean, and ready to roll. Keep your eye on pinks at all times. Trust no one. Be good at head shots - adjust auto aim settings and practice if needed. Stage 3: Grief the griefer. Be prepared to kill them four or five times if necessary. Be ready after just killing them, they'll probably be out for revenge. Kill their horse. Stage 4: Walk away. It's just a game, you respawn, your horse can be healed, and you can just go to menu and go to another server far way from the troll that's been hassling you. Often it's not even worth getting into a fight, just let them kill you and walk away. Who cares? If you want, report them or name and shame them here online. Don't ever let bullies force you out or off the playground. It's yours as much, if not more, than theirs.2 points

Hi cowpokes, how you all doing? It's a great game isn't it? I've been gaming since the 80s, first using a Spectrum 48k which was both lovable and a bit rubbish and since then I've been waiting for a decent game set in the Wild West to appear and at long last it's here. I somehow missed out on the first Red Dead, probably cos I was mainly a PC gamer except when playing Tiger Woods golf round a friends. So many drunken hours spent golfing. Ah, happy days. Quick disclosure; despite my name and my PS4 RDR2 character, MaryDoubleYou, I'm a bloke. It became a tradition for me to play as a woman after oh-so many hours playing in-game as a male. I think it was Dragon Age that caused the change. All of a sudden I could wear armour that didn't have spikes poking out everywhere and the voice acting seemed a bit better and after that I was hooked. Anyway, the online version, despite a few glitches, is brilliant isn't it! This is the first game that's compelled me to buy the online component and it's a whole new world of fun, if a little daunting at first. And this is my first time on a gaming forum, so hello once again. I'm well looking forward to posse-ing up once the game starts proper. There seems to be little reason to posse up at the moment so I'm basically doing what a lot of us are doing and making money and souping up my weapons, saving up for a decent horse. Well, I've rambled on long enough. Nice to meet you all. LET'S RIDE!!!1 point

Most here have probably played a fair chunk of online now, and maybe have learned stuff they wish they could have been told when they first started. What tips would you pass on to new players? My top ten: 1) Getting the UE bonuses is a really big boost in a game so grindy: having a nice horse, varmint rifle, shotty and level boost from the start is fantastically beneficial. If you plan to spend some time online and can afford the UE do so. 2) Take your time in character creation and watch youtube tutorials beforehand - it's not easy to get exactly what you want and some options are easily missed. And don't be generic - many players have barely distinguishable characters. Be different. 3) Complete the main story missions as a first priority. You will do 75%. Then to do the remaining missions you have to either drop/raise your honour level accordingly. There is no benefit to having high/low honour besides the buckle, so you might as well go max/min all the way to get them (and the small reward). 4) Things that are important to purchase as soon as you can are: varmint rifle; some type of shotgun; good horse; fishing rod; river lure; improved rifle (either Lancaster Repeater or Bolt Action); horse insurance; gun upgrades. Useful but not essential are: bow; improved horse tack; cold weather clothing; off-hand holster. Things to regularly carry are: ammo, horse reviver, hay for horse, tonics, cooked meat in satchel, ginseng, chewing tobacco or similar, gun oil. Eat only food cooked/found and clean your own weapons, manage your own horse. Buying food, horse servicing, and getting guns cleaned are rip-offs. 5) If you plan on playing with mates regularly and plan on having a permanent posse, then it is better to invest in one sooner rather than later, make yourself the leader and reform whenever you play. 6) Play around with all the various settings right at the start. I strongly suggest muting chat and locking your horse to posse only. 7) Trolls exist. When joining a session crouch to get off radar, check the map. Avoid areas with multiple pink dots, especially ones with posse leaders. Some areas, especially Valentine & Blackwater are notorious for getting griefed, especially near butchers. Avoid other players as much as possible, taking detours if necessary. If you die you lose carcasses and pelts on horse; if horse dies, select heal option in menu to get them back. Be very careful how you approach butcher, esp when loaded - best to ride further to a quieter town if needed. 8 Overbuy ammo from catalogue (not in gunsmiths) and keep supplies available to pick up from any post office to restock. 9) PvP Series Matches are often quite brutally hard. Best weapons are: Varmint rifle (head shot kills); shotty; bolt action. A suggested load out to cover all ranges is: dual wield sawn offs + varmint + bolt action. 10) The grind is real, and unless you are able to sit doing one activity over an over, it is suggested that a varied approach to grinding works well. Construct a route on your map that starts off with a stranger mission (xp), then ensure you do fishing (best money source + health rank up); hunting (bird hunting is good money, game for meat for cooking, plus xp); herb collection (sell at doctor); shack ransacking (good for consumables like tonics and gun oil); and gang hideout clearance (xp + consumables + chance at treasure map), making sure you end with access to butcher, doctor and ammo supplies.1 point

You can delete your guy, and create a new one. You keep your gold and money, but lose everything else.1 point

There is nothing in-game at the moment, other than deleting your character and going through the character creation again, not sure how it works cuz I'm fine with how my first character turned out, spent a long time playing with the different options. They may add a plastic surgery option or something like that later down the line, but would imagine that to be like 50 gold bars or something ridiculously high if they do add it.1 point

Hello there, The Creeds are a semi-roleplaying posse looking for some fellow prospects to join the family. Currently, we have myself (Alyster Creed)...my son (Alyster Jr) ...my cousin (Robert Lee Creed) and other cousin (Easton Creed). Basicly our entire posse consists of fellow members of the Creed family. We are not exactly law abiding but we keep to ourselves. UNLESS the sh*t HITS THE FAN. A Creed needs to be able to handle their own in a fight. Just kinda a family tradition. A Creed doesn't pick the fight, a Creed ends the fight. When a Creed is outnumbered, the Creeds outnumber. (Or sum such bullsh*t) We do a great deal of hunting for money. Sometimes we like to just take things slow and a slow trot to objectives far away (let the griefers come to us if you know what I mean) A Creed needs to know when to fire the 1st shot, we try to avoid that at all costs but when the time comes-youll see it. We like to hold up at camp and have ourselves a cookout-mostly big game meat-I eat grizzly myself-puts hair on your nuggets. We try to keep ourselves organized- get some good photos of the family-go Ginseng Hunting We work together to overcome challenges (Like serious in-game kinda challenges) We try to keep a clean mouth when my boy is out here with us- normally just Sunday and Tuesday nights We try to get some work done at least a few hours each day-gotta stay active to be on top of things. If we do have to kill- we split the loot evenly-count out the bodies as you loot. It never hurt to give your family members a 3 star buck carcus(specially if you aint got room for it on your nag). A Creed needs to have a good understanding of how things work already. I hate repeatin myself 20 times cuz you got no beans in your can. If this sounds good to you, you can marry my cousin Wendy...and we'll make you family too.1 point

Hunting is my favorite things to do. I don't want the never ending nerf than buffing to mess up how the weapons work against animals. The Varmint rifle is used for small game and birds. If they reduce the range, how will I kill birds flying in the sky without damaging the carcass? The PVP is a joke in this game anyway. I would rather have PVE lobbies and leave the guns alone.1 point

Some of your remarks seem contradictory. Anyone who goes out of there way to make a B line for me as I'm hunting, fishing, gathering items, etc. only to kill me and possibly my horse is a griefer in your description in bold. If that's the case, I agree with you on that. As for R*, of course they condone this behavior and it's by design. The parley mechanic is a perfect example of them acknowledging the behavior exists and the fact that there are no real consequences for random killing of players shows that they are interested in keeping that element in the game. They respawn engaged players in close proximity making escapes from kill squads all the more difficult. GTA is a prime example of R* allowing trolling in their games but at least in that world it made more sense. .....not in RDR2 though. I don't have an issue with players taking part in missions as rivals or mutual engagements but the random killing that is going on is definitely griefing / trolling and I have no doubt about it. Having said that, I wouldn't even mind if they leave it in but there should be consequences like bounties, more incentives for players to play cooperatively, a passive system, more session options (e.g. private / invite only) or some combination of mechanics like these. R* isn't going to take action against a player (griefer) who continues to kill a victim, stalks them, etc. because quite honestly, the game design allows it. The parley feature is R*'s way of "protecting" victims of repeated attacks by another. .....and I say "protected" in quotes because it is really a weak attempt at throwing victims a bone.1 point

I have read online when a player does something that makes his character gray out, yet they are able to move and shoot. Which is what happened to me. 2 players attacked me in Valentine a few times on the verge just doing it for being a pain. So at 1st I let them have their fun so I could get on with what I was doing. They just wouldn't quit, so I shot back and they took off making it so if I wanted to finish this then I would have to chase. By this time they already interrupted what I was doing. So I chased. They eventually, just stopped and hopped off their horses and immediately turn gray. I fired a couple of shots and they didn't seem affected. Figuring they just punked out and immediately start shooting and eventually killing me. They was still grayed out, yet I was not able to hurt them at all. So I said F that and moved on, figuring just avoidance would be the only way to get away from those cheats and then I have seen others doing it. I have heard it called Shadowing and I have heard it called Ghosting, Yet to find out how to do it and so not sure what to say to Rockstar to see if they can fix this BS. Online is not going to be fun if this is how players are going to deal with PvP.1 point

I recon they're either using a lag switch or the "standby" button on the modem/router. It's an old trick used by players of questionable skill or ethics to gain the upper hand in online game play, especially in shooters. Sadly, there's very little R* can do to prevent this from happening, because it's an action taken by the player to interrupt the flow of data between the console and the Internet, and not specific to the game itself.1 point

Yeah, saw it mentioned on Twitter around the same time but from RockstarINTEL. .....nothing from R* themselves which seems odd. This weeks update was supposed to be about stability updates so that seems right.1 point

As far as i know, this is the update log. However, Rockstar did not yet announce anything.. Wich is a bit... weird? Added fixes for crashing issues with Red Dead Redemption 2 version 1.04. Added fixes for stuttering/lag issues. RDR2 update 1.04 has fixed some glitches. Added fixes for framerate drop and freezing issues. Added performance and stability improvements. Gameplay improvements added with Red Dead Redemption 2 patch 1.04. Added other minor fixes and changes with Red Dead Redemption 2 version 1.04.1 point

Interesting. I'll keep an eye out this morning. The last update was on the server side of things so nothing to download. Maybe this one is different.1 point

No news as of yet. I follow a couple of R* sources on Twitter (including R* themselves) and always see the notifications of such things there before anywhere else. .....and there is no mention of this week's update yet.1 point

I don't like trolls either, but I think the game is great, isn't broken, and is looking on getting better and better. There are easy ways to mitigate griefing, easy ways to respond to it. Even at its worst all that is needed is to launch into a different server and move away from the pinks - 9/10 this solves the problem. It's not worth not playing RDO just because of a minority of bullies. I like what PvP adds to the game and that addition is worth the limited amount of aggravation that comes with online trolls, IMHO.1 point

Ya, seems unreasonably high for it. $150 wouldn't be bad. Not even sure what pamphlets they lowered the price on, they all looked the same from before the economy changes, and pamphlets were supposedly lowered, or at least some of them, but I don't see any difference.1 point

Some of the bullets are from the stores, you just need to reach a certain rank to buy them. The rest, as Hoover said, come from the fence, for a few hundred, minimum.1 point
-
You need to buy the recipes from a fence, since Charles isn't available online to teach you how. They are rather expensive, mind, and also locked behind reaching a certain level. When you buy the recipe, don't forget to read it, and either hold Y to take a knee and begin crafting, or go to a campfire. Hope this helps.1 point

nothing on the newswire, they just released an update a couple weeks back, probably won't see anything for a few more weeks, maybe month(s).1 point

In the single player game, you can buy recipes/blueprints for different arrows from a Fence. I bought mine from the Fence in Rhodes. Those required various unlocks to be able to be able to do. I'm not sure if that is the same for the online version. It may be rank dependent.1 point

I like to hunt cougar up at Brandywine Gap in the northeast corner of the map. It's in a remote location away from the trolls and there's a good supply of deer to hunt as well. Downside is you have to go all the way down to Saint Denis for a butcher. Good news is you can pick off a lot of herons, spoonbills and pelicans along the way for their plumes which can add up to a lot of money.1 point

I ment immersion when getting into character, but anyways, we will still have not so good looking characters out there, look at GTA:O we could make good looking characters there, I had one and most people I knew that cared for that had one too, but 90% of the other people that didn't had ok characters... it's not like every single person online was a model... mostly weren't. Yet on single player we saw like 6 of them in the same group of outlaws that lived months in the woods with scraps and were constantly moving.1 point

Well you may think it's not important. I lived my life playing RPGs so for me Character Creation is a huge deal when available, and when I see the pretty face I used my time and effort to sculpt showing up on MVP screens, Winner screens or mission CGs it makes me feel proud about the work I did, I don't know about the others but that also helps immersion for RP (I've done in GTA) sculpting your face and making it the way you like it helps developing attatchment and a sense on how to portrait that character, like voice and mannerisms, makes me be even more true to the way the character is.1 point
