Someone has found a new technique for getting outside the map which is superior to getting drunk in a cave. This method doesn't require getting drunk and it's possible to take your regular horse with you, which is the first method I've seen which will do this. Basically you camp at a specific location near barrow lagoon - this causes you to set up camp in a normally inaccessible area , from there you can ride your horse over the mountains to Tempest Rim, (also normally inaccessible) and from there simply ride north out of the map boundaries on your own horse which means you have all weapons etc available. 😀 In this specific video the author also shows how to cross the Lannahechee river east and up river of Anniesburg and get across onto the east side of the map across from van horn trading post etc. WIth the cave exploit I had previously tried really hard to get across this river upstream of Annesburg and it looked like I should be able to make it but the strong current meant I could never quite manage it, however this video demonstrates how to do it, showing that it is actually possible, meaning it is much easier to get to Guarma and probably also Mexico. I tried many times to go right from the north exit point west around past new austin and into mexico and while I nearly made it it is far, far too time consuming. The method in this video going east and then crossing the river looks far, far easier. Enjoy.

Hey there, below some tips against griefers: - Look constantly at the minimap to avoid the "surprise effect" of your attacker - Get your two best weapons easy to access and fully ready (ammo / cleaning) - If someone is tying you, use the knife in your weapon wheel, your character will automatically cut the rope (do it before getting fully tied) - At rank 41: Unlock the ability card "never without one" that allow you to block a headshot if you are wearing a hat (it will just knock off your hat but you won't loose any health point). I would normally only use that ability card only for fight modes but finally it is very helpuf even in exploration, especially with all those griefers. Typically, the story is always like this: I am in the middle of nowhere, a troll is coming to me, i wave my hand to say hello, the troll take his weapon, i say hello again, the troll aim my head, i still dont moove, and finally the troll shot. Then it becomes funny, I am still standing up and full of health, I generally do a quick dodge jump on a side and counter attack the way i want. It is very pleasant to tie and burn someone who tryed to kill you whereas you were friendly! 80% of the time they never comeback! If they do so, try a long shot distance and ride away Unfortunately, i think the best tip against griefer is to practice shotgun fights, because you are able to defend yourself pretty easily and make understand griefers you are not the right target for their level. They generally give up very quickly. Or you can still use the U.S. Marshal Service from The Coca-Cola Kid, i liked the post, very nice concept!

Yes some people farm money and gold this way. Make $600 and gold - delete and remake, do the missions and now you have twice as much. Repeat. Too much trouble for me, I'm on my first character still.

No way I'm giving strangers my log in password, that's nuts and a bannable offense. Totally unfair to those of us who grind. But to tell you the truth I didn't know you could do that.

Money in Red Dead Online is possibly even more important than in the story mode, as weapons and horses can only be obtained by first unlocking them in stores and then purchasing them. There are also fewer ways to earn cash in Red Dead Online, so you will likely end up being poor for a long time if you don't know the best ways to earn money. Red Dead Online features two different types of currencies: regular money, which is obtained by completing story and stranger missions, winning in the competitive multiplayer modes, and selling items. The second type of currency in Red Dead Online is Gold Bars, which can only be obtained by either: (1) earning 100 Gold Nuggets (which are then converted to a single gold bar); or (2) by purchasing them with real money. Gold Bars allow players to bypass the rank unlocking system and purchase any item even if it has yet to be unlocked, so they are a real commodity. In this guide, we will cover the best ways to earn regular money in Red Dead Online (without resorting to any exploit or hack either). Currently, Red Dead Online features a few story missions collectively known as the "A Land of Opportunities" missions. A total of ten are currently available in the game, but two of them are only unlocked if your character's Honor rating is low. Completing these missions for the first time will allow you to get money, XP, and Gold Nuggets as rewards. As this money making method involves playing story missions in a random order, you may want to avoid using it if you care about the story. These missions aren't particularly long or difficult to complete, however, so you can just play through them regularly to make some good money. To make some decent money early on, you want to play the Kill Them All, Each and Every One late story mission. You are rewarded $250 for completing the mission the first time and slightly more if you manage to complete the secondary objectives, making it one of the better-paying missions currently available in the game. Other missions aren't that lucrative, but they will still help you make some decent money early in the game. Once you have made enough money to purchase a good weapon, such as the Bolt-Action rifle, and the Varmint Rifle, you can start using other real money-farming methods and make yourself some cash. As a side note, repeating story missions through the story mission On-Call option is a good way to make additional XP to rank up. Hunting Getting a powerful weapon that is unlocked relatively early, like the Bolt-Action rifle, will allow you to make the most out of hunting, as bigger and more resilient animals yield the best items to sell. With the recent economy changes, hunting has become the most reliable activity in Red Dead Online to earn regular cash, as it does not depending too much on chance and luck. The best hunting spot is undoubtedly an area found in the western part of the Lemoyne region, to the east of Kamassa River on the map. This area is the best hunting spot thanks to: (1) the variety of animals that can spawn there, ranging from big animals like alligators to herons, eagles, pekin ducks and spoonbills; and (2) its location, as it's conveniently close to Rhodes. The animals are spawned randomly, however, so the amount of obtained money per hour will change depending on which are spawned and on your ability to make perfect kills to get the highest quality pelts possible As most of the animals that spawn in the area are small, the only way to get a perfect kill on them is with a Varmint Rifle, which is unlocked relatively early, at rank 8. For medium-sized animals, the bow is the best weapon to use to get Perfect Pelts. Against alligators, however, you need to use the best weapon you have obtained, so this is where the Bolt-Action Rifle comes in. It's high firepower will help you kill these fearsome animals with a couple of well-aimed headshots. Fishing Fishing used to be the best money making activity in Red Dead Online, but the recent economy changes dropped the price of salmon considerably. With fishing, it's currently possible to make around $180 per hour, which is not a bad amount, but far from the $300+ per hour that could be earned when Red Dead Online originally launched. While definitely a good money making method, fishing requires players to have played the game long enough to have met a couple of requirements: you need to get to rank 14 to unlock the fishing rod and rank 30 to unlock the Lake and River Lures, which are needed to fish salmon. In case you have some Gold Bars to spend and don't want to wait for rank 30, you can use one to purchase either lure. There are a few fishing spots where salmons can be caught, but two of them are the absolute best thanks to the fact that they are very close to towns. These spots are Owanjilla Lake, to the west of Strawberry and the Dakota River, to the southwest of Valentine. Owanjilla Lake is probably the best possible spot, as there are lower chances of being interrupted by other players, since most people don't travel here unless it's for fishing. Once you have caught 10 salmons, head over to the nearest butcher and sell them. Each trip will net you $25.00, which is not a bad amount of money at all. Treasure Maps Even with the recent economy changes, finding treasure maps is still the best money making activity in Red Dead Online. It's not the most reliable, however, as chances of finding maps outside of ranking up are low. Treasure maps in Red Dead Online work differently than they do in the single-player story mode. Online, treasure boxes are placed in random locations found in the areas highlighted by the maps, so you will need to keep attention to your controller's vibrations, which indicate how far you are from the box. Once vibrations become strong, use Eagle Eye and search for the yellow particles. Items found inside treasure boxes are also random, but they are usually worth a significant amount of money. Maps can be obtained in two ways in Red Dead Online. They are a reward for ranking up every 5 ranks past rank 10, so you will be getting a new map at rank 15, 20, 25, 30 and so on. You will eventually reach rank 100, however, and won't be able to obtain more maps this way once you do. The second way to obtain Treasure Maps in Red Dead Online is via clearing Gang Hideouts. These hideouts have the chance of spawning at several different locations found all over the map. Once you have killed all of the gang members found in hideouts, you will confront the leader, whom you can kill or spare. Your decision doesn't seem to influence the chance of getting a treasure map, so do whatever you feel like doing. Even if you don't get a treasure map from the gang's boss, you can still make some money by looting all corpses. The amount obtained will usually be relatively little, as looted items have incredibly low sale value compared to that of the single-player campaign, but it's still better than nothing. Competitive Modes If you're really not hunting and fishing, and the random nature of obtaining treasure maps is not for you, you can earn some decent money playing the Showdown Series and Races multiplayer modes. For the fastest possible results, winning horse races is the best way to go, as they tend to be shorter than a full run Showdown Series run. There are three different types of horse races in the Race playlist, but they are not all that different from one another, so get yourself a good horse, like an Arabian or the Missouri Fox Trotter, and win as many races as possible. In case both horse types are way out of your league due to either low cash or rank, you may want to use the Red Chestnut Superior, which is available for free, or the free Thoroughbred Horse if you have purchased the game's Ultimate Edition. As already mentioned, playing the Showdown Series is also a good way to make some money while having fun, but completing a full playthrough of the playlist takes longer than completing horse races. There are 5 different play modes, called Make It Count, Name Your Weapon, Shootout, Hostile Territory and Most Wanted, each one coming with its own rules and winning strategies. I discovered this accidentally a few days ago when I was bored in Van Horn. Someone made a snide comment to me, so I manually saved, pulled out my pump action shotgun, and turned his head into a cloud of pink mist. Imagine my surprise when I didn't accumulate a "wanted" level, just honor loss! I went on a TEAR through that town, holed up in the derelict building after killing the hobos, and just racked up an insane body count. Fantastic way to blow off steam.

One of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in this game was when I decided to ride into the oil fields east of Valentine and go on an Archer-esque Rampage. Climbed the ladder to the chimney on the roof of the factory, and murdered well in excess of 100 NPC's. I'd shoot them one by one as they came up the ladder, or if more than five were congregated on the stairs below, I'd toss a firebomb on them. Since the building is brick, only the bodies would burn. Sometimes, at night, I can still hear their screams as I drift off to sleep. Bountyhunters would come down the road to the north, looking to give me "The 'Ol Number Six", only to have their horses felled by flaming or poisoned arrows. Eventually, there was a lull when I had to pour another drink for myself, and the Marshals gave up and left. One of these days, I'll make a video of one of those Rampages and keep count of how many I take out, but for now, I content myself with similar sprees in different locales in single player (make sure you do a manual save first, boys and girls!) just to blow off some steam, and the benefits of such murder sprees go a long way to enhancing my enjoyment and appreciation for the rest of the game (except for Micah, who I hate more than Jar Jar Binks). And some "Cover Scent Lotion"

Well if I told you what cards I use for melee then I wouldn't be unique anymore, lol. Was pretty simple for me, as I used to do a lot of theory crafting on ESO but I digress, I would say record a couple of your fights. Play them back and figure out why you are losing. Are you landing more punches but not winning?- (invest in damage cards), are you taking less punches than your opponent but dying faster?- (invest in healing abilities) my abilities work for my play style, they may not work for yours. Ability cards in my opinion are maybe a quarter of the reason I'm the current RDR2 Fight Club Facebook group Champion (PS4). it's sad that they pay all that money for a PS4 then again for the game, only to spend their time killing horses for fun. Think I'll stay away still from online until Rockstar do something about it.

LOl, glad it's not just us doing stupid stuff to keep occupied: here's a few of ours: Piggy back races with a corpse on your back Hide and seek in governors mansion in Saint Denis and on the grounds of Braithwaite manor Take away - using a deer carcass on your horse Lassoing wolves and cougars Bungee jumping (well, sorta) using the lasso and a high bridge... This is kinda cool looking in 1st person. Tag and release with the lasso.

I think alot of the NPC stuff is feasible and most likely in the works once they are done testing server health. The random events and people are what made the story mode so immersive, I'd love to see online be the same.

Oh, ok... now it makes sense... Because if Cripps could turn poor pelts into perfect pelts I'd be out hunting with a Mauser and dynamite...lol

All good suggestions. Question about one of them: "Trappers are added, and they and Cripps have the ability to craft perfect pelts". Cripps crafting perfect pelts. What did you mean by this? Like you could give him 5 poor pelts to make one perfect?

That´s bad, i´d spend a lot of real money to buy gold cause i like to dress up and redress my char a lot. So if i don´t like some aspects of her (just minor things like her chin, ect.) i can´t fix it without loosing all what i bought? Would be nicer they link these things with our accounts, so we can change chars without looseing real money. Or making a kind of a safe where we can store things accountwise, so if one design a new char he/she could go there and find his/hers stuff. But anyhow, thanks for your answer and the info.

So, since I had a few days off and played a bit of RDR2, I decided to try an experiment on griefing. To see if it wasn't as bad as I thought. Admittedly, I only did this because the rest of my posse were sleeping like normal people. I hunted small game and fished until I saw someone near a butcher. Then I would shoot a deer and head there to sell it. I did this 35 times. During this time I visited every butcher on the map, rode into town without guns drawn and changed sessions after each event. Of the 35 times; I was shot as I approached the butcher 8 times (like up the street), shot another 6 times when I dismounted my horse in front of the butcher and another 12 times just after I sold which to me means I got into the menu too quick for them. My horse was also killed like 5 times during this. I have to say that 9 peaceful transactions out of 35 aren't good enough odds for me to trust people dwelling right next to the butcher. Normally if I'm riding somewhere and I see people in my path, I alter it to avoid a possible confrontation. The way I hunt/sell now allows me to avoid most confrontations, but constantly having to go out of my way just to play a game is silly. This is manageable while traveling, but selling at the butcher doesn't give even us that option, unless we are willing to riding out of our way. I almost wish there was an option to have Kripps sell your pelts at 50% of the normal value.

Before I got my little pony insurance, I had a dude who was running around knifing people's horses in a small town the second they got off them. Then he would zig-zag away. I think people do this to be funny. I can bet some of us are on some Youtube video or Twitch stream somewhere.

So earlier on today I was casually strolling through Valentine, on my way to the butcher's, when suddenly I was downed by a headshot out of nowhere. What greeted me when I came around was four different posse's, one of which was a seven man, all shooting at anything that moved. Naturally, this riled me a little, and four respawns later, I was beginning to get a scope of the Battlefield. What followed next was about an hour and a half of intense warfare, and I absolutely loved it. Not having to worry about shooting allies, I was like a man possessed, taking on droves of red dots, and actually holding my own. As time went on, people started leaving, until it was me Vs a three-man platoon, who could've easily defeated me had they only worked together. Time after time they at me,one after the other, until all but the leaderof the Posse had Parley'd me. We fought for about fifteen minutes after that, exchanging kills, until all of a sudden, the gunfire stopped. I received a message from said Posse leader congratulating meon how well I had done, and just as quickly as it started, it was all over. What could've been considered griefing, managed to be turned around to having tremendous fun. Don't get me wrong, I won't be looking to start anything like this again any time soon, but it made my Monday morning a wee bit brighter knowing that I hung in there when the odds were stacked against me.

I noticed this Christmas Eve when I was on. Out of nowhere, there are a bunch of what seems to be kids running around. Like 12 to 15 year olds. Damn you Christmas, DAMN YOU!

I wish I had gotten the Ultimate Edition for many reasons and this is one of them. Oh well. You live and you learn. I would have thought we should have gotten something.

You keep your money and gold and lose everything else.

The separation of currency that can be purchased with real money is likely a move (in part) to avoid issues in the event they implement mechanics like gambling, etc. in the future. ....at least that's my guess as to one reason they went this route in RDO instead of what they did in GTA.

It's exactly the same game on both consoles, and there's not a PC version... Yet.. So no real need for separate sub-sections, other than maybe for playing with other people.

Milk what? The game is in beta. The MTX system is like any other component one would add in a beta to test and fine tune. Makes sense to me as a company to get it in place and get it working properly before implementing other gameplay components. ......especially right before Christmas. .....and as Cory said, most are cosmetic and some items in the catalogue are already locked behind gold bars that some folks want. Like it or not, there are plenty of gold bars being sold and this MTX system is what is going to sustain RDO (hopefully) into the distant future. Believe me, they are not pushing everything else aside by implementing gold bars now. It's the holidays so I wouldn't expect the next update until after New Years but I would expect things to ramp up rather quickly after that. Also, this week is going to be another big stress test on their servers so that could be another reason they are holding off on introducing more gameplay components to the game right now.

....but who said I (Kean) was going around shooting anyone without provocation? I simply said I wouldn't bust his balls for shooting someone loitering right at the butchers stand. ....and he said 3 minutes but in your own words you've done it for 10 minutes. That's just asking for trouble and its a little rude IMO as others may feel that they have to travel elsewhere to sell their skins, meat , etc. to avoid a confrontation. This is where you don't understand what I'm saying. Again, as I said before, I do my business with the butcher and move on to a spot that doesn't make me appear like I'm going to ambush anyone and is safe for me if I'm going to loiter. .....but that's just me. Call it whatever you want you call it but I don't see someone like Fretter taking out a suspected troll in a well known spot for trolling as a griefer. Not what I would do personally in that situation but I'm also not going to loiter to make someone like him feel threatened nor am I going to bust his balls about how he said he handles the situation here.

Yeah, I don't know how they do it, but ghosting is a thing and some people use it to grief with impunity. Double life fail - first to grief, second to cheat on top. I can only imagine that irl these people look like Voldemort and smell like a sewer.

There are several towns with no law enforcement. Van Horn, Butcher Creek and Armadillo that I can think of. The townsfolk will all attack you so you can kill as much as you want without getting a bounty. You'll still lose honor, of course.

I have done this plenty of times on other games and it doesn't always work. I put it to the test a few nights ago and I just let the group keep doing their worst. I went to Taco Bell and got some food. Came back and the second I started doing something, they showed up again. lol No lifers.

The ability to build a wall around St Denis, and then set fire to the city and watch all the trolls burn a wonderful, inescapable, conflagration? Just me? Ok, then ...

This is why online does'n't interest me until they get private lobbies set up. The whole idea of being able to get xp by killing another player's horse baffles me, it sometimes seems like R* are encouraging idiotic behaviour.

Purchase "Horse Insurance" in order to force the murderer to fund the fees for the horse.

Trolls don't have to be trolls, they choose to be. That is why I don't completely blame Rockstar.

I and some of my friends go with the varmint rifle every once in a while. Let's you keep an eye on your radar too. I got my first muskie online with the shotgun, just cuz I was running along the shore with it out for some reason, and the muskie poked his head way out of the water right next to me. Thought it was Jaws and shot a bit in it's direction. Poor quality but still quite a bit of money, before the fish nerf anyways. Occasionally will go dynamite fishing, too. Pretty satisfying, even for the poor fish.

FYI the panoramic map is meant to lead you to the location with that view. It is the top of Mt. Shann and there are things to discover up there. For the best view match the time of day drawn on the map...night.
