  1. I have never seen a single hacker in this game. Just yesterday some guy stole my horse so I killed him and took it back, then he respawn and took a shot a me and missed. I killed him and he freaked out. Then he (downed) me and I kill myself before he could finish me off. For the next 20 minutes he was bitching that I was hacking because he didn't get xp for a kill he never even got. Begging the entire server to report me.

  2. I have noticed a lot of posses in free roam. All after that double XP. That RS are offering over the next two weeks. I have been avoiding them. By either going to the other side of the map. Or just hunting, mainly birds and animals I can place in satchel. That way if you are griefed you don't lose stuff!

  3. If you are looking for a certain animal or item in RDR2, drop your request here and I will (to the best of my ability) post the map location in this thread. Just for the members of this great forum! To start: Known locations of bear spawns below:

  4. RED DEAD ONLINE BETA UPDATENEW FEATURES AND MORE COMING FEBRUARY 26 The next set of updates and new features is set to be added to the Red Dead Online Beta on February 26th as we implement many new improvements and enhancements to the game’s open world, including a new Law and Bounty system, weapons balancing, changes to player blips on the mini-map and more. Read on for details about these changes and stay tuned next week to learn more about some of the other new content coming in this update. Player Visibility As part of our response to community feedback on how to minimize certain types of destructive player behavior, we’ve made some changes to the way player blips will appear on the map. Firstly, we’re reducing the visibility of blips over long distances – your map position won’t display to other players unless you are nearby (within 150 meters) and if you are slightly further away you will only appear when firing your weapon. Players in other towns or regions, for example, won’t be visible. This prevents players from being repeatedly targeted across the map at long distances. We’re also introducing a new system that highlights overly aggressive players. If your style of play becomes more hostile, your map position (and the position of your Posse members) will become more visible to other players with a progressively darkening dot that incrementally shifts from blue to dark red. Your visibility increases through bad deeds such as attacking and killing other players or their horses outside of a structured mode, Free Roam Mission, event or competition, and the shorter the time between bad acts, the more your visibility increases. Shift back to a more righteous path and your visibility will fade over time. We’re also introducing Posse-wide Parleys and improving Feuds. You’ll soon be able to initiate Parley that applies to your attacker’s entire Posse after just a single kill. Alternatively, if you’d rather challenge your opponent, you can initiate a Feud, Posse Feud or Leader Feud after one kill, quickly turning a dispute into a timed mini-deathmatch for rival players to fight out amongst themselves in Free Roam, earning points for each kill on the opposing player. Bounty Hunters & Law Balancing At the same time, players who have racked up high bounties will have a chance to be beset by NPC Bounty Hunters who will attempt to kill them and collect their reward. Criminal behavior will have bounty values and honor consequences that scale based on the severity of the crime. For example, killing another player can incur a higher bounty, while assaulting townsfolk or animal cruelty could give you a lesser bounty if the crime is reported, while lower level crimes like looting and ransacking will only decrease your honor. If your bounty exceeds a certain threshold and Bounty Hunters take notice, you will be wanted dead and alerted to their pursuit. The higher your bounty, the greater your value and the more difficult the pursuit becomes for you and your Posse. Daily Challenges We will also be adding a variety of Daily Challenges to take on across the Red Dead Online Beta. Complete individual objectives that cover every aspect of life on the frontier to earn Gold Nuggets and XP. Challenges will range from foraging for herbs, selling items at a Fence, hunting and skinning animals, clearing hideouts, winning Feuds and so much more. These Daily Challenges will continue to expand and evolve over time bringing specialty challenges and rewards, streak bonuses and more. Other Fixes and More Your feedback has been invaluable so please keep it coming. In addition to these updates we are planning to address several additional changes based on community feedback received thus far - select weapons will be re-balanced including the Varmint Rifle, which will have its accuracy brought more in line with other longarm weapons; voice chat will be reduced to work at closer proximity, and while fixes to horse cargo are numerous and ongoing we plan to introduce some improvements to making pelts and carcasses more persistent after death or respawning. We will have more details on additional content in the February 26th update next week. We are excited about the future of Red Dead Online and look forward to sharing lots more in the weeks and months ahead. Meanwhile, there are chances to earn more XP to rank up ahead of February 26th. Playing in a Posse will bring benefits like earning increased XP in Free Roam Missions and Free Roam Events. Posse up this week to earn twice as much increased XP on these activities, and next week earn 20% more XP across all activities in the Red Dead Online Beta. https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60840/Red-Dead-Online-Beta-Update?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rdobeta-update-02122019&utm_content=newswire

  5. It came across my mind that Arthur never seems to take a leak or take a sh*t. Surely it is toxic to keep it in?

  6. I dont only want to complain about bad griefers. Sometimes, it might be exiting to be attacked by other players. For example, when they try to catch you on a mission. So I dont think that a complete ban of pvp would be the best idea. But the system of killing and respawning makes no sense to me, because it causes endless fights. If there are two or three guys who want to kill me, and I fight back and kill them all- theres no reward for the success, because the enemies come back in some seconds and attack me again. When youre in a war of two posses, its not the better team who wins. The looser is the one, who simply lost the nerves, the fun or gets out of munition first. I think, when youre dead, the fight should be over. Wouldnt it make more sense to respawn on another server? Or to disable people to kill the same person several times a day? Getting killed feels bad, but has nearly zero consequences. I dont see any sense in that. What do you guys think?

  7. Question, why the Litchfield over the lancaster? I see that the Litchfield has more damage but it seems that the lancaster is better every other way. And it's a bit faster locking on target. Really want to know because I have been on the fence about getting one.

  8. kinda sorta is in there, just like running around up north in the snow with warm weather clothes, they both drop your core at an accelerated rate but that's all that i've noticed happens, eat oregano seasoned meat and get the gold health core and you don't have to worry about it.

  9. Seems to be a take on the one from RDR1 like danjou mentioned. I am sure I will eventually mess around with it but it isn't a priority. I am more of a hunter/gatherer type than a bounty hunter.

  10. I have no idea how to measure luck. It seems I have none.

  11. For me what works best is going slowly and selling either one item or a group and waiting for him to ring that up. If I just start mashing the sell button, I get shorted. In rl some people can't multi-task. In RDR2 to keep it real, none of their vendors can either.

  12. Some forums you have CMs attacking the people of the forums. It can be a two-way street. Sad part is the internet can make people less civil. Now on the otherside of that, in a forum if a person ask a question. It is best to get an answer. Most forums ran by the company, those who are there for the forums either have no clue or are told to say nothing . Which ends with the same result. Now here we are pretty lucky, even though it isn't a company ran forum. @Kean_1 has a pretty good grasp and stays informed on all Rockstar news. He's pretty good and being able to filter out the facts based on Rockstar released news and rumors from left field.

  13. Typhoid Mary. She was a cook in 1900 who infected 51 of her employers with typhoid.....killed more people than typhoid mary. Props if you get the movie reference for my posse..... Apple Pie Posse!!!!

  14. Well if there's anything that RDR2 has taught us, it's that drinking helps with steady aim...Should totally work in real life, right? 😎

  15. Same. Bolt Action with explosive gives you max damage. It's a one shot kill. Unless they have the right load out for Abilities. Then it's a two shot. I have found.

  16. Yeah that is what I am thinking. But a lancaster repeater? I put it down as one of those things. You know sh*t happens lol.

  17. This will always create problems. My solution was to grind until I hit rank 90 and got my hands on explosive rounds. Ranking up ability cards is important as well. Don't rely on RS solving this issue. The best way, is for you to find your own solution.

  18. How low in rank are they? Slippery Bastard can be bought at rank 50. As an aside. I was killed by one shot yesterday from a griefer using a Lancaster Repeater. Which left me asking questions. Because my loadout was tier 3, Never Without One, ability card and I also had tier 3, Slow and Steady. I was also was wearing a hat at the time. The greifer was a rank 174 and I was at the time rank 106. But that wouldn't make a difference?

  19. I'm getting close to finishing up my second playthrough myself. I saw the first difference on YouTube rather than for myself, but the second one I noticed myself while playing because I did the John mission before the Rains Fall mission this time. Anyway, I bought a guide for the game today and it doesn't mention anything about The Mercies of Knowledge being exclusive to Arthur. Hopefully it's a bug and Rockstar patches it at some point.

  20. I feel the same as the OP. It's the game of the decade IMO. On 2nd runthru and still it's awesome...just wish there were DLC missions for single player...online I stay away from...if you could play it and block others it would be better...but can't take the juvenile crap...it ruins it 4 me.

  21. One beard to rule them all! I prefer to keep facial hair at a 4. Perfect balance of natural ruggedness and social acceptability. Except for missions for Mary, I dressed up nice and clean shaven for those.

  22. WHAT A DAY: I'm proud to report that yesterday, Aces & Eights inadvertently got into a simultaneous firefight with two posses. We defeated both. Our team strategy has evolved and is about to take another leap forward. Kudos to the expert marksmanship from @BurbonChaser and @DistilledGary

  23. I expect the proper fix is to add a government inspector NPC dressed in a pin-stripe suit and a monocle, who travels from town to town investigating the vendors. ...and then every day in addition to the stable and camp fees, we’ll get hit with a new “FDA Inspector” fee.
    1 point
  24. That's very true. Cowards like me kill you once and then run away.

  25. He's just taking his cut off the top. Every vendor does this in the game. I discovered that if I am trying to sell stuff too fast. I lose money in the transactions. If I sell one item or group of one item and then wait for him to ring that up. I haven't lost a thing, it just takes way longer.

  26. /thumbs up, this matches my wish list at this stage, so far. Along with, hopefully, connection and stability fixes across the board.

  27. Well, the parley system is going to be improved and it appears you will be able to parley after the first kill. Also (and this is a big one IMO), the parley will apply to the entire posse that the griefer is connected to.

  28. I'm in the exact opposite camp. In fact, I get frustrated when they don't spawn--a target-rich environment to rack up XP and loot? I'll take that over driving a stagecoach and getting attacked by randos any day of the week.

  31. Im sorry but to whoever you quoted. they definitely aren't gamers, more of a bandwagoner imo. 1st if they actually continued to play the story you actually get all your items back. 2nd It actually makes you feel desperate for a well liked character and you hope for a cure and wonder if at any moment he will drop dead or not. I personally was hoping there was some sort of cure. looked hopeful when rainfalls comes into play. (I guess a slight spoiler but if you're on RDO instead of playing the story then that's what happens) 3rd Yes its showing you that John was actually trying to be a law abiding man, and had to follow the rules and work humble jobs, not just getting in there and owning everything, pfft do you people lack imagination or understanding?? what you expected to be a billionaire after you literally lost everything John even mentions that they were robbed on the road. I'm all for bashing Rockstar for their current Online (im one of the few that thinks they started off horribly) but their single player was amazing, and was so damn good that I wish it kept going. I definitely believe it was one of the best falling at the top of the line with gears, halo, Last of Us and Detroit Become Human (best game ever story wise) I honestly hope people reconsider their choices and come back to rdr2's story not even to rdo, to finish it rather than hoping on their shooting games where they do the same repetitive shoot and kill they do in any game.

  32. Honestly, this game is the whole reason I bought a ps4. I’m not finished... yet. But I’m working on it as I have time. I started online as well. I find it’s much easier to spend just an hour or two playing around online than in story mode. In story, I loose all track of time and spend hours on end planted in the couch (sometimes without even getting to that next story mission I was planning on getting to). im also not a daily player. I’m a grown up man with a full time job, wife and children, a house, yard and several vehicles to maintain... and of course other hobbies. I wouldn’t be surprised if story mode lasts me well into spring. So far, I’m loving every second of story mode. Online, well, it’s fun. But people are di*ks... I mean I can get you want the easy kill, but can’t you wait just a few seconds more and blow my head of after I leave the butcher? You’ll still get your kill and everyone else would be much less annoyed.

  33. There are several parts of the game that probably piss players off to the point of just quitting.... RDRO is such a disappointment I can't believe anyone is playing there instead of finishing the story.

  34. I specifically purchased a PS4 to play this game. I waited 7 freaking years for its release. RDR was the benchmark that I measured all other games against. Fanboy deluxe. I slow played it thru Chapter 6 and enjoyed almost every minute of it. The first epilogue was just cleaning things up. The second epilogue was just a recap of RDR1 and it really doesn't matter to me if finish it or not. I am not a completionist or a trophy whore. Unless they come up with an exceptional online version, I am done. I'm not going to pay to be a beta-rat. I guess that puts me in the "did not finish the game" slot.

  35. I was fortunate enough to finish the story before online released. So the temptation simply wasn't there. Even if it was though, i'd still finish the story. Its easily one of the most skillfully told narratives i've ever experienced, if not the most. I've never seen a story weaved together and completed quite like this. Incredible. Also, its definitely in people's best interest to finish the single player story line BEFORE going into multiplayer, that way, the order in which things are exposed to you as a player are succinct and make sense. For those not new to the RDR universe, its one hell of a ride. Will be hard to top for quite some time.

  36. Yeah, seriously, to hell with these challenges. I was doing well until I got the the Herbalist level whatever, where it tells you to go pick one of each f*cking plant in the game. AGAIN! It is absolutely ridiculous and quite frankly not worth my time.

  37. Historically, the last two "official" online game communities I've been a part of have devolved into cesspits of negative energy. It's one thing to have developers and people who work on the game actively engage the community, but not everyone is suited to handle communicating with "the public" or "the customer". That's where a lot of companies go wrong in that they not only allow, but encourage team members to answer on behalf of the company in an official capacity, when in reality they're irrefutably better off letting media professionals or community engagement specialists manage the process with limited, tightly controlled access to team members who actively work on a title. That's not to say that team members unilaterally incapable of interacting with the public, but the company stands to gain very little from the exposure and risk they create by allowing employees unfiltered access to interact with the customer base. In a case like R* and RDR2, the game has such an enormous install base that there isn't really much to gain by having an official community presence. By keeping official communication isolated to select gaming journalists, news outlets, and offical press releases, R* limits their exposure to potentially damaging communications by employees who aren't trained on how to effectively communicate with the public. Branding is VERY important in the modern culture. People get attached to brands and develop loyalty as a consumer, so it's imperative that a company find an effective way to not only obtain but RETAIN customers. An official online forum for specific games creates too much exposure to liability to be an asset worth pouring time and resources into, especially at the level that R* is at, when hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake. People here in the US seem to inaccurately adhere to the notion that the First Amendment, guaranteeing free speech, applies to the private sector. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Amendment is there to prevent the government from creating laws to restrict speech. Private companies absolutely retain the right to monitor employee activity both in and outside the workplace as a condition to employment. One of the biggest mistakes I see people make (particularly younger people) is the inability to segregate workplace and personal relationships in social media. I highly encourage everyone to maintain separate social media profiles for work and personal use, because you never know who is reading what you say/post online, and who may report what you're saying to your employer. Circling back to my original point, folks seem to forget that when they make comments in the public space (which includes online gaming communities), that their employer can be held accountable for their actions under the legal doctrine respondent superior . When employees participate in official communities of the companies they work for, it creates a very complicated situation for parties on all sides, so R* deciding to eschew an official online community (outside of the Rockstar Games Social Club) makes a lot of sense, especially from a legal and media management perspective. TL:DR; The most likely reason R* doesn't have an official online community is to limit their exposure in the event that an employee or agent says or does something stupid. And they really don't need one give the runaway financial success of their titles overall, and consumer brand loyalty.
