My family had a test to get your first gun. If you could lift and shoot dad's old Winchester WCF model 1894 25-35 (made 1918 if memory serves) with the octagon barrel, you were ready for your own gun. That beast is heavy! i had to wait till i was 8 to get my first gun. I say my first gun which really means we got to pick from Dad's rifles which one we would hunt with, minus what my brother picked before me. I chose my dad's .303 British. That was my hunting rifle from age 10 until 16 when i blew it up. The infamous case sizing issue the .303 suffered. I shot a reload i had done earlier that day and it split. I don't own any old west firearms. I have a few replica's in my collection if that counts . The family has a couple Old West guns, my brother inherited my great grandfather's Springfield Model 1873 45-70. Even got a box of paper cartridge shells with it. They're worthless now but really cool, if your a history buff like me maybe. Dad has a black powder rifle that as far as we can tell from his research is from 1840s. My uncle works for the BLM and found it out on a rock formation way out in the wild somewhere. was all rusted and the stock was pitted and weathered from hell. Who knows how many years it sat on that rock. Dad refinished it and it's a beautiful gun now. He was able to save the barrel, had to take it to a gunsmith to get it bored again though, stock was trashed, but we found a seller of the Curly Maple the original stock was made from. I think i spent as much time helping him hand sand that stock as i did on my black powder rifle. Stock is smooth as glass now, just beautiful. I'll have to take a picture of it when i visit them this weekend. My collection - Black powder 1861 Colt Navy revolver - .36 replica black powder 1848 Colt Police revolver - .32 Replica black powder CVA .50 cal. black powder rifle (kit gun i made when i was 13, just realized i've had this gun for 30+ years now) Rifles Winchester Model 60A .22 long rifle (inherited from my grandpa, made in 1943) Howa Hogue GamePro custom .270 Winchester (won at a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet, custom finish and engraving for the RMEF) Remington 700 Synthetic in .308 w/Nikko Sterling GameKing scope (love that scope, inexpensive but solid after hundreds of rounds, same scope on my .270) Remington 10/22 .22 cal. (my fun gun) PSA AR15 in .223/5.56 (my new fun gun. just got this one 2 weeks ago, haven't had a chance to shoot it yet) Handguns S&W 586 .357 Revolver (high School graduation gift) Taurus TCP 738 .380 (my first pistol, i hate this one, too small for my hands, probably end up selling it soon) Taurus G2c 9mm Ruger Blackhawk .357 Got 2 more guns i need to finish my collection. A shotgun so i have 1 of everything, and i've always wanted a Colt 1911. Not in a rush on the shotgun, I'll get my dad's eventually. Colts i want are spendy (i won't buy used unless it's from a trusted source, like family or my shooting buddies) so that one may take a while yet.2 points

That was Foxtrot who caught and edited that but yeah, any one of us on the moderation team would do the same. No biggie.2 points

The OP hasn't been on the forum for over a month and wasn't on for a while before that. As I mentioned in this thread last year, they only come on weeks or months later to simply say the same thing about the game which they have long since given up on. .......wasted breath IMO and not worth the resurrection.2 points

I'm down for it. What's this test run consist of? I'll be off work in about 5-ish hours. PSN is "Renascentc", add me if you like.2 points

Right there with ya bud ! Just turned 50 my self. Would like to offer you a shot at becoming an Angel. All adult posse. Few requirements , no discrimination against race , religion ,political or sexual preference. Most play on est and have Mic. The game is slowing down for a lot of us due to lack of content. We still play just about every day but it's limited due to glitches and bugs. Anyway if you want a shot at being in Arthur's Angels lmk2 points

In my 50's, but younger in my head most of the time. ; ) Been a vidiot since they rolled an Astroids game into my local pool hall.2 points

I have several solutions for Griefers once and for all, and without separate lobbies. I'm sure other members of this forum do as well. If there are 50 players in a server, and six Griefers, assign 3 players in the server to every griefer, a player assassination of sorts, with a $25 bounty. Bye-bye griefer. Second, take away their horse and force them to ride a nag. Third, issue a shoot on sight notification to everyone in the server much like the PvP games' notification messages... Catch my drift? But this is beta and Rockstar is Rockstar. I am a horse hair away from level 120, and never bored. it pisses me off to spawn into a game only to get shot by some level 6 blue dot or posse of Griefers. I am thrilled to pay $45 for (the moonshine to make) 20 incendiary shotgun rounds, and hunt pigs and ducks to make exploding shotgun slugs. Every one of them is reserved for griefer extermination. Still, 80% or better of my daily log ons put me into unjustified hails of bullets. One last item. I have been riding with a player named jakey boy (something like jakeyboii something) from UK. This afternoon we kept seeing the same player killed again and again and again. This player was a level six and couldn't defend himself from a three-man posse with high levels. We rode to his aid, included him in our Posse, and blasted the Griefers into smithereens again and again. If you haven't tried it it's a great feeling helping out other players. This is me shutting up. For the moment π2 points

Recently, I've started shooting my little Ruger Single Six again. Going out into the hills with my little Marlin .22 and six shooter is quite fun. However, not the most extensive or historical collection. Probably the Blackhawk I have is closest to the Colt SAA... So what about yours? Any Historical Firearms?1 point

I do love a 1911. I have a Springfield MC Operator myself. Sweet shooter although I always intended to ditch the wrap-around Pachmayer grip with VZs like the latest model has. ....again, not a picture of mine but the exact same one:1 point
-
There's a 1911 that my dad has, I believe it's a Tenring Custom 1911. It's quite nice, but he doesn't really shoot .45 all that often. As of right now, I'm currently planning on building a nice AR.1 point

LOL, I love it man, thats great!! And not a bad idea, I do really dislike anyone who thinks it is ok to just abuse your trust and take advantage of a situation like waiting for you to leave a butcher and shoot you in the back, they deserve all the payback they can handle, and this too is driving me more and more, I am sick of worrying about who is in Rhodes, or Valentine, or going way way out of my way just to go to a butcher, I am done with that, and this is pushing me to grind, and play pvp more to get better at fighting, and master using my cards, so when I do hand out payback it will be glorious and fun.1 point

Yep, no update or Beta news, just the specials. I went ahead and created a thread for it though. I wasn't going to at first but I'll just name these differently.1 point

that's why i love this area. we may get 100+ for like a total of 2 weeks if that throughout the whole summer. I had to turn on the AC for 6 days last summer. usually we're high 80's low 90s, and winter time if we go by last year, average high 20's temp and 5ft of snow1 point

I use my phone to PSN chat with them. It automatically translates what we say to their language. Works great. Especially with those that speak no English.1 point

Howdy lumper ! Would like to tell ya we have some who don't speak English very well from all over the world ! They understand what we want and quickly adjust. Very friendly atmosphere with lots of laughs. Not many requirements accept be respectful and we won't run ! If some silly cat tries his metal on one of us they quickly see the error in there thinking ! We do a little of everything. One last requirement ,no discrimination against race , religion , political , or sexual preference. Very laid back group. Sound good ? Lmk and I'll get you in for a test run. Got a couple new ones that we will get with tonight. If interested drop a reply here and I'll get back with ya asap1 point

51 here, Ill be 52 in October, but I feel 31, and still have a love of video games, I play with my grand kids now,, I think that is amazing as I do not feel like a grandfather. I play alone as I dont have any friends in game, I just hit level 63. I did join a group called The Northern Empire, it is a non toxic group of players that coordinate attacks and events with other groups, etc.. but it isnt a static posse or anything like that, I would love to meet and play with other like minded people around my age, how do we go about inquiring about Arthur's Angels?1 point
-
Aight. I've been doing a little bit lately and I think I have a fairly basic grasp of it. Practice practice practice!1 point

I feel the same, and did about the same, I would do a mission, then a stranger mission, then I went out to get the buck antler trinket and worked on the camp upgrades, and my satchel, treasure maps, gold bars, etc...so for the remainder of the game I had the capacity to carry 99 of an item, by Chapter 2 I had it, and it felt oh so good. I did it by taking off on hunting trips alone, then I would come back with all my stuff, and rest at camp, spend a day or two just talking to every person in camp at each time of day, then off to a story mission, then a stranger mission, find a companion request item or two, and of course any random encounters that arose along the way, and then back to exploring. Arthur in my game was more of an explorer than a bandit, he definitely was a thief and bandit at times but he also was a survivalist, explorer a horse guy, etc.. he loved hunting, and fishing, as well as explorations of new areas, and solving puzzles, so by Chapter 4 he was doing very well, from chapter 4 to 6 I did the really cool stuff, the only thing I messed up, that I would recommend you do differently if you are only in chapter 4 is... IMO Do not complete the Hamish Sinclair stranger missions in chapter 6 as Arthur, I wont say more, but suffice to say, you will be greatly rewarded if you make sure to start these as Arthur but complete them as John, this was my only regret.1 point

Funny I feel exactly the opposite, I played the first one, but got bored and gave up, fast forward to RDR2, I started off slowly, but as I figured out how to play a semi open world game, I loved it, I actually played it three times to the end, second epilogue, it was amazing!! I recently loaded up rdr to see the story since I really enjoyed rdr2, and I wasnt able to get through it, I got to Bonnies ranch, and started working off my debt, and got bored with it, the horse race alone was enough to quit. The graphics even though upgraded for this release, are hard to look at after rdr2, the smooth character transitions and missions, etc.. I dunno man, I think maybe you were wanting it to be JUST like the first game?, or recapture the magic of the first time you played rdr but it has evolved, a lot, it is far better imo, sorry to hear you lost your patience with it.1 point

that's what i was thinking also. and the link takes you to youtube, then google drive. makes me skeptical, at least it's not dropbox or virusbox i should say.1 point

Well, that's the official Piggyback guide that as far as I know, people have to pay for, both as physical and digital media, and it's part of why you pay more for the Ultimate Edition. Therefore, this is a pirated copy, I'd say and therefore comes under the "don't post illegal stuff" part of the forum rules.1 point

i found new life in this game being an anti griefer. i wander around and do my thing and when someone shoots me i put them on my "list" and try to visit them any and every time i can to give them payback after payback. My possie is called The Law and me and my gf (the only two in it now) dress in the same police uniform and just whenever we want something different to do, i search up one of the names on my list, jump to their session and the payback continues. Fun stuff!1 point

Yep PvP modes. We do it all but seems to be a good ice breaker for new folk joining. Catch ya this afternoon1 point

Okay cool. Game on lol. Gives me enough time to run a couple errands before I park myself in front of the PS. We talking pvp modes or posse versus?1 point

The test run is just to see if your compatible with all of us or feel comfortable with us. We have a community and stay in touch with each other using PlayStation messenger. My second in command will be with me tonight and will run some PvP matches to break the ice. If you like riding with us I'll put you in community. All fun and love to just laugh and make the most of it. I'll be off work at 230 est and will send fr. Saddle up partner.1 point

Yes ! Finally ! Im happy for You. I killed lvl 150 players beeing lvl 20 with a shitty gun so its all about skill, upgrading it etc. I hit 104 lvl yesterday and still enjoying the game. Mostly i focus on pvp games - trying to get better and better. There are some really good players out there and would like to beat them someday - so this is my most important goal now. To master the game. Currently have all weapons i need, upgraded, engraved etc, Im looking at some outfits now bcoz i completely abandoned them to earn cash for ability cards first. Want to buy one more horse to try out. Have still like 3 recipes to buy that i want. Yesterday started exping a card setup i want to test during pvp - to fight another day & of single purpose to use with slippery bastard on pvp running around using only knives to kill ppl for fun of it so back to some hunting between matches. Started to do horse races daily as well. a couple of matches for fun. So seems im still hooked - heck even now in my ofice, writing here on forum i would love to go back to playing the game. Still 3 hours left in work π Also im trying to accumulate some gold bars and dollars for the future updates and i hope that gambling will be introduced to the game because i really miss that part of the game. Would love to see saloons full off ppl playing cards, 5 fingers and stuff. I can understand that there are some legal issues that maybe postponing the implementation (its gambling) and probably the currency used for playing will be in game dollars and not gold bars since You can buy them via R* shop so yeah legal gambling issues but in the end everything can be done. As for the grind and the levels itself. Im an old PC mmorpg hard core player (retired). Mostly played korean mmo with insane money/lvl/skill grind where You need to kill 20 k npc's to lvl up... and loose this lvl in one day loosing in pvp. Im used to hardcore grind to that point i started to enjoy it. crazy i know. For me gaining lvls and money in this game is a walk in the park - for others it might be a grind. As said before im one of that breed of players that will have everything unlocked in this game - when i do who knows maybe ill leave rdro for ome time or maybe forever. While im enjoying it im playing. When You stop enjoying a game just stop playing it - that is what i will do. Anyway good to still have You around. And sorry for the long read.1 point

Those unique weapons you mentioned would be pretty cool, actually. Maybe a kind of tripwire to trip up someone's horse, or a net to trap game/players. Different knives would be appreciated. Snares for smaller game1 point

Practice on gang hideouts and small animals from horseback. Get good with that and it may help in PVP. You can also practice when you are being griefed since there are less players trying to kill you than PVP.1 point

Yeah you just kinda have to throw yourself in there with no expectation to win. Just do your best and learn from mistakes. If nothing else, save video clips of your showdowns and rewatch them to see what you could have done better. Take the time to sit and carefully read each ability card and pick what suits your fight style or what you think your style would be. For instance, when I go showdown I use: paint it black, never without one, peak condition, and either Landon's patience or winning streak (sometimes strange medicine instead of never without one). In free roam I change paint it black to focus fire unless there's a lot of dark red using slippery bastard. Play around with them until you find your cup of tea.1 point

You can't sell stowed small alligator pelts, as mentioned, since the last big update. I contacted support and the "expert" told me this is a known bug, but honestly I don't know if that is correct or just "lip service" for them not wanting to pay out as much as previous posters mentioned It's basically sell the whole carcass on small alligator or just take the meat and teeth.1 point
-
Yeah, if you die while in possession of a legendary pelt, it's automatically transferred to the trapper. You just don't get the payout that you'd get from selling it to him.1 point

Whaaat? Whaaaat does this even mean? Theres nothing overly complicated about this game. And the pace of the game is up to to the player. You can't complain about not making 'progress' if you stop playing the game. IMO this is the best game i've played in years.1 point
