Yeah I was going to add it's most likely not every 30 perfect corpse collected, it's random or based on some other trigger. I've gotten back to back maps Here is my funny story about people going nuts looting bodies for couple of pennies... late last night I was looking for an escort mission that actually counted towards daily challenge and found travelers under attack. I'm killing all the enemies and some player shows up and kills one and proceeds to start looting the bodies like a maniac while I'm doing all the work. He then executed the travelers.... My response was to give him what he deserved ...a participation trophy. Wish he came back for seconds. Ran to the hills4 points

Don’t worry. I’m not going to win this one. I get why people wouldn’t want to hear some certain other people (personally I just mute the odd offender to the ear-balls as I come across them. It’s not like it’s absolutely everyone). But it really does take a lot out of the online world when people don’t interact with each other in my opinion.3 points

I've tried the cops killing method in Annesburg or Van Horn once ( You get to the end of the platform and water is on your back, get behind the boxes and just kil 2-3 npc and let other witnesses call the cops - then just start shooting) I did that for about an hour and was so bored doing this i stopped and never did this again. For me the best way to earn exp now is free roam and stranger missions. A lot of thing happening on the road. And i like the world very much, the views, animal sounds etc.3 points

.....folks are simply sharing their own ideas/feedback on the topic FreeBird. Kinda what these forums are all about, eh?2 points

I have to agree. I get the same experience from clearing a hideout as I do from killing two dozen cops in town, only I don’t get a bounty or negative honour (which sometimes you may actually want). I just play the game and let the levels/money/gold come naturally:2 points

Or just hunt animals off horseback, kill anything you see with a headshot using special ammo, clear hideouts and ambushes the same way if possible. Then get to experience the beauty of this game! Good for buckles too.2 points

So a couple of weeks ago I decided to create a permanent posse, I didn't care who joined it so it was open, I wanted 7 people so I'm spending lord knows how much on the larger camp sites. But nobody is able to join the posse, like at all, when I look at the posse members list (there are no members) it tells me that it's locked and I need to increase camp size, when I look on the players list to invite people I can't even do that. So again I try and move my camp while still keeping the larger size at an extra cost but it still doesn't work. I'm really hoping this is just a glitch that will eventually be patched but I haven't seen on any other forum anything about this perticular problem. I've tried disbanding the posse, joining a new session, restarting the game so I'm stumped. I really don't wanna permanently close the posse because it means I'll lose the $200 creation fee. Please, am I doing something wrong? Has anyone gone through the same thing? Kinda bored of playing on my own.1 point

So, lol I got a little triggered earlier, and just had to rant, I sent Rockstar my thoughts, then I thought, let me rant on the board, and get it all out. So, rant on, lol If you dont want to hear me whine about the game, just skip it. Multiplayer, I hate that you have to select a "series" then you get whatever you get. I hate it!! What bothers me is how awesome the game is, and how stupid this system is, I cant understand how they can get the game so right and then screw up the part that some of us take for granted. I mean it never occurred to me that they wouldnt just make a list of modes for us to chose and then leave us be, watch and see what we do with it, before they decide that wont work, and we want people to try them all so... I have had enough, I am just not paying pvp screw it. Why cant they just put in play a list, these are the game modes, pick the one you want and then go play it? Every other multiplayer game has figured this out, but Rockstar for some reason has some reason of their own that they will not give the players the power of choice and freedom to do what we want. I have no idea why, maybe they feel certain modes wont get any use ? too bad, I am not playing any pvp anymore because I dont like surprises, I hate loading in only to find out it is some mode I dont like and there arent enough people to make it fun anyway. I am not interested in these run around the map with a bow in silence, or run around the outskirts of a map and try to get back to your base, etc. there just dumb, I dislike them and would rather not waste my time with them. I just want it simple, death match, team deathmatch, capture the flag, team capture the flag, etc..maybe a few others, the territory one isnt bad if you are lucky enough to get on with people that actually have a $5 mic and will talk to you so you can work together, which almost never happens, so I give up. I say make me a list, let me select what I want and get out of the way. I sent this same point to Rockstar but I wanted to see who else feels this way, is it just me? Sadly it isnt so much that I dislike all of those, but I dont want to be forced to play them.. Same with these free roam events, fishing events, herb picking event, etc.. wtf Rockstar , make a list, let us chose, F off with these random events that pop up in free roam, if I want to play and event I would go to the multiplayer menu and select it, otherwise if I am in free roam for a reason. I dont want to be taken out of free roam to do anything, I am there for a reason, usually to level up, or make ammo, or craft tonics, etc.. then I go to pvp modes, but of course in this game it is all backwards. Anyway I am just super frustrated that something so great that I enjoy so much is so broken with so many flaws that seemingly are unnecessary. Beta is over stop it with market research and whatever other reasons you have for these crazy ideas, the game is great, stop trying to change every aspect of how we play Multiplayer games. Rant over, flame on.1 point

I think your on Xbox, I'm on PS4 so probably different guy, same crackhead/juvenile mentality though. I usually do same if someone else is their I just leave, if someone helps I'll split evenly especially if I see their a lower level guy. It's not hard to earn money in this game, 5 seconds later I bagged 2 bucks and logged off, didn't even care about the skins. (Never found an escort mission that registered for the daily challenge though, that is where the gold is) Just meat and the horns is days upkeep and just about the $4 you make, b4 loot. I know it's just a game but not sharing and killing the travelers(who you can't loot) ...I just don't get it. I just think peeps want to jump in and try to steal the loot scraps without helping, they deserve to be shot. I don't care about the bounty or if they press charges. This is a whole nother subject but game needs more co-op missions.1 point

This is exactly what I do, people rarely grief me, but honestly I don't even really care if they do or not, I'll fight back, and they will wish they didn't1 point

I understand what you're saying. This is one of things where I think it sounds better in theory than in practice. .....but when it works, it works. IMO/IME, I find that either people refuse to communicate or they do something that forces me to have to mute them (e.g. eating, background noise, play music, bad quality comms, shout expletives/racial slurs/insults, etc.). A lot of times I simply find most randoms that use the mic really annoying. I will say however, that there are moments when it all comes together and you have a really good experience with it. .....but those moments are too few and far between to warrant the use of it most times for me. Hell, even it games where it really should be a "must have" (e.g. small, squad based tactical shooters), I still run into the same issues and most will revert to party chat with just their friends. ......the rest of the squad are on their own.1 point

Hi Kiara and welcome to the forums. I'm going to go ahead and move this to the main online forum as the recruitment forum is really just for those trying to find others to play the game with. If no one else has advice as to how to fix your problem, I would do as @DNMNetTech said and contact R* Support to see if they can help. https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.252956873.1333748777.1559670190-13204521.15596701901 point

Yeah. The same thing happens in races. Every single one I’ve been in has at least one guy rubber banding his controller and riding in a circle. It gets annoying having to wait for the time out all the time.1 point

Maybe it’s just me then. Since I don’t have groups of video game friends I regularly play with, about 90% of any interaction I get out of online is with randoms. It’s hard to have any kind of meaningful interaction with randoms when they don’t talk and/or don’t listen. It just turns into a world of psychotic mutes that may or may not kill you at any instant.1 point

Hai thanks for the reply. I try to open a ticket but cannot sent it. Can i know how to clear the cache? By the way i play on ps41 point

I had the same issue for several days. I ended up starting the game forming the posse and it worked. This was after starting the game and clearing the cache. I know several other people that have had issues getting members in the posse that were in it before and are on the list. You may want to open a ticket with R* as well.1 point

I noticed an increase of new players in last couple of days as well but that is a good thing. In every online game. Yes they are annoying last couple of days im like a zombie hunting mostly and doing dailys to finally finish my last tier 3 ability card ! Card nr 24. I need only 100 dollars more - didnt have strenth to finish it y-day. During those couple of days i totally ignored them. Got shot in similar situation maybe 3 or 4 times but didnt react. Just pressed charges and carried on with my grind. I bet they felt good shooting a lvl 141 and getting away with it but i really could not care less about them at this point. But it changes today im going to be ruthless towards them.1 point

If I have read your post correctly. You cannot equip one to your outfit. It just sits in your inventory and you click on it and the pocket watch is in your hand. You can read the time. That is it unfortunately. It would be cool if it was on your outfit.1 point

This is the first online game I’ve played and was pretty worried after reading all the horror stories (which were almost all about 6 mos old btw). But I’ve been playing for a weak and have been pleasantly surprised by the lack of grief. I don’t even bother with the defensive mode anymore. My impression is that by the time most serious players get to level 20 or so, they’ve been griefed enough times that they have no real interest in doing it to others. I like to hunt and often someone will ride up on me while I’m putting a pelt on my horse and I expect the worst, only to get a thumbs up or a wave from the player. It’s actually a nice feeling and now I like to do it to others. I’ll ride up slowly with my shotgun out, of course, and there’s a moment of tension, but it quickly becomes apparent that it’s a friendly encounter rather than hostile. I think griefers at this point mainly prey on low level players, and also low level players do it because they don’t know what else they’re supposed to do in free roam (gotta shoot something after all). But once you’ve played enough to get your bearings straight and basic weapons of choice, it’s pretty easy to respawn, get some cover, and take them out. I find that usually they run off once they see you know how to defend yourself. edit: should add that they prey on morons like me who load the game standing on a street corner in Saint Denis in offensive mode and not paying attention while downloading and trying to sign into the official app. But at least I came back and blasted their posse leader dead while the guy who shot me and other posse member were cowering behind a building not far away. They then retreated until their red turned back to blue and disappeared. I’ll count that as a win any day. I definitely was asking for it so I can’t complain. Lesson learned.1 point

I 💯% agree. Let me pick the game I want to play. I do like a few showdown modes, but I truly hate how I have to play absolutely everything else and waste an hour between the 3 minute rounds of what I want to play. At the very least, make a vote page like on GTA so the group your with can move around between rounds based on majority rules. Mics are another pet peeve of mine. They’re not expensive (mine came free packaged up with my PS4 control) . No one is expecting studio quality sound, but it’s an online multiplayer game. I’m really tired of finding a world full of mutes absolutely everywhere I go. as for the freeroam events, I don’t mind. If I don’t want them, I don’t go. If something catches my eye, I go. Most of them are things I’d never think to actually go out of my way to sign up for. I’m happy how they work.1 point

thanks to you and others who mentioned this. In all the times i’ve looted bodies online i never came across a treasure map so it never crossed my mind. Anyway, I hope he got one, because if anyone deserves it, this corpse-looting madman is the guy.1 point

I generally don't like PvP in an arcadish game like this but yeah, I also found this frustrating because of the 1 or 2 specific events/modes I did find somewhat entertaining, I have to be forced to play all the others I don't.1 point

Easy folks..... I only mentioned the age of the thread as an FYI to @lumper as he was directly replying to the OPs 6 month old post. I didn't know if he realized the age as sometimes that can happen (folks don't notice the dates when a thread is bumped). I I'm not busting anyone's balls let alone yours @Vaderspupil for resurrecting this thread to ask your question. ......otherwise I would have mentioned it when I answered the first time. Either way, it's not a big deal nor did I intend to make it one. I guess I could have been more specific, sorry.1 point

As Lumper mentioned, the official Android / iOS app is really helpful especially since you can still view the map while fishing (you can't see the minimap in the game during this activity). You can also zoom in and out so it's easier to navigate on the fly, view terrain while on the move, get an exact location of where players are that appear on the edge of your minimap, etc. Also, when you join a new session, choose a region that is at a least a couple states away from where you want to go. The game tends to spawn players into areas where most others are. Traveling away from your spawn point will help reduce the chances of running into others while you fish, hunt, harvest, play side missions, etc. Posse up..... There are a lot of good folks in these forums. Mingle and find a friend, two or a whole group that's willing to let you play with them. Find the right people and they can help make your experience easier and more fun. It's always nice to have someone to ride along with that can watch your back and increase your chances of success. Remember, Defensive Mode is a tool much like ability cards. Used right and it can help mitigate the chances of being griefed. Use it like a passive mode, and you will be sorely disappointed. Don't put yourself in the position where you can be shot in the back. When visiting merchants, keep an eye on where players are around you Beyond all this, the most important factor IMO/IME to helping make your experience as "grief-free" as possible is through your own choices and actions. .....your playstyle. You have to treat all randoms players as potential threats, don't get complacent and try to avoid situations that make you vulnerable. Don't ride into a town full of players without a plan. Keep an eye on their actions and locations, don;t loiter and get in & out. ....or simply go elsewhere to sell/buy your goods. Personally, I've never really had a huge issue with griefing even during the early days of the beta simply because of the way I play. .....but much less so after the implementation of the the proximity / hostility changes and now with the new Defensive Mode. Over time, you can even begin to identify certain patterns and/or behavior to watch out for in randoms that can help you gauge their intent. ....although that is never a guarantee so again, good situational awareness and caution is always advised. I can't speak for others but My friend(s) and I have been having a blast lately with little to no issue with griefers.1 point

Yes, I find it to be a bit of a train wreck right now, though it has been much worse in the past. I find myself playing the missions and different modes when I want to play shoot 'em up but I seek out glitched solo/passive servers when I want to do things in free roam. I guess I'll be content playing that way until Rockstar boots me from their game. Even with all of that, I still find myself logging in on occasion now. This is a really great game to me--it's just that Rockstar is such a xxxxxx when it comes to the way they present it to us. Happy trails!!1 point

I am not easy on Posse riders. You two have stepped up. They are badges of Honor and you have earned them. If anyone is curious why I don't have one for myself? Rockstar awarded me a posse leader belt buckle shaped like a star. I choose not to wear it. I'm kind of nervous about people aiming at my zipper zone. in designing a new fire team configuration and strategy, I have tasked @WhiskeySour to ride Point or Tail Gunner with me. That badge design will be a challenge but rest assured it will not be a picture of a bunny butt with a protruding barrel.1 point

Yeah, you'll need to follow it, like I had to. You can ride faster than it flies - provided you don't ride into rocks.1 point

I believe it could be done in a respectful manner. After all there are already Indian face types in the character creator. So adding more Indian themed items/accessories would be in keeping with the game as-is. There is also a Native Indian Only Posse already up and running who only accept Indian characters.1 point

LOL,well to be far, I didnt notice him until I looked up and saw him pointing his gun at me, before I said anything he had killing on his mind, and since the update, I go where I want and I dont worry about others, I dont mess with them and for the most part noone else has messed with me, I have skinned animals around lots of blue blips, usually 99.99% of the time they just do their own thing and never pay attention to me, a few guys have come running at me lately and I just stand my ground, draw and advise them to back off, and they have, lol. This guy was gonna shoot no matter what, and I just didnt see him until it was too late, so I hoped for better judgement after hearing my voice, but lol it ddnt play out that way. Now I noticed he was drawn on me for several seconds without shooting, so all I can figure is he was looking at my name, and maybe looking me up quick, I cant be sure though, either way when he saw my level he should have known. Either way, yeah you cant base things on one encounter or one day, but today espeically I saw many new players and so although I didnt edit my plans or routes as a result I was on high alert after this kid.1 point

I wouldn't say so because of one bad day. .....and as you admitted, you left yourself wide open to be griefed / player killed (or whatever is politically correct to call it) when you essentially dared him with that remark and figuratively turned your back. Personally, my reactions to encounters with randoms has gone largely unchanged since RDO released. I typically still give players a wide berth and avoid them when I can. I realize you knowingly left yourself willingly open to the risk in this case but I still believe those who get griefed in this game (for the most part) are victims of their own actions. .....or inaction. Makes you wonder though if he's willing to try it again after that encounter. My gut says yes unless he runs into others who give him the same treatment you did.1 point

I agree that it is frustrating to consider the game a full Beta at this point, BUT I remember that the developers went a year over their time budget and millions of dollars over their financial budget to bring us the single player game and the foundation of the online. They obviously had very lofty goals for the sake of business and the way things work, they were lucky to be in a position to control so much of that and have the freedom to do whatever it takes to deliver their vision and the best experience that they can. The single player game proves that, so to me it seems that they just ran out of time, and now that the game is out they have to juggle their responsibilities while scrambling to complete the game the way they had imagined it to be and all we can do at this point is have faith that they have our best interest in mind and they want the game to be great, I believe given enough time, they will deliver and amazing game and all we can do is try to be patient. I think many people myself included are frustrated because we love the game so much and we just want it to be done already so we can really get into it, but sadly that isnt where we are right now,. The good news is every week that passes brings us one week closer to the final product and its official release, if the game sucked people would have already moved on, this game is special and is going to help change the way games are made and what we as consumers will come to expect and demand more of, its all good for us,the only down side is we have to wait, and we have to be patient and we have to trust Rockstar to use this time wisely and get it all together, I think its going to be great, very soon.1 point
