  1. After the killing and subsequent stuffing of a beaver, I completed the game. Its taken a long time, and I’ve enjoy every single second of it. The most challenging part was probably picking all of those herbs... Feel free to sign up to the 100 club below. 100 Club Members Foxtrot Zach DiamondDave

  3. Its simply an Easter egg that pays tribute to a side mission in the first RDR game. https://game.ava360.com/red-dead-redemption-2-easter-egg-8-flying-machines_394a44793.html

  4. My loooong winded complimentary rant about this game. If you have a life just skip it, I bought Far Cry 5 a week before I bought RDR2, I bought RDR after I finished RDR2 the second time, because I didnt want the story to end, I have other games I used to love and play daily, COD WW2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, etc.. After playing RDR2 three times now and having just started the online part, I just cant play my other games. Rockstar really got this right despite any shortcomings with online. I was stoked about Far Cry 5 for a long time, I only played Far Cry 2, never saw another so I figured 5 has to be great right? I loved 2 it was really fun. It looked good, I played it a few times, and then I played rdr2, now I just cant bring myself to turn it on, lol. This game is too good and I want to tell every other game maker, hey, you, step it up!! this is what we need, these physics, graphics, AI, etc.. you want to make a ww2 game, fine, make it like this, make a fictional sci fi game, great!! like this though!! lol These npc's and random encounters and stranger missions and side stories, holy cow!! this is it!! this is how I would to see games coming out work on. honestly Im shocked as the money seems to be in online games and I am not a big online player, other than COD ww2 I really do not play games online, too many hassles and headaches, cheaters, lag etc.. So to make a game this deep on the single player side I feel like it was made for me When I started playing video games it was in the early 1970's Zaxxon was an early 3d game at arcades and later on I think Colecovision maybe? I dunno we had it though, The Adam computer that ran on cassettes, lol, not even floppys yet. I loved it and I remembered thinking, I hope games keep getting better. Then later Goldeneye came out and blew me away, but then Quake 2 came out on pc and if you had a decent gamer, lol like a 400 mhz p2 or something you could play it at 99 fps at 1600x1200 and we were blown away!! That started about 8 years of building gaming pcs and over clocking them long before you could actually do it like today, we used graphite pencils and connected circuits on the chip itself to unlock multiplier's and open up the Front side bus, because if you did it right, you could take a pc game and crank the settings to the max and still get 60 fps, for a few years this was all I did. then came Half life, and counter strike, then HL2, and Crysis, and veitcong, eventually Call of Duty world at war. All of that led to Red Dead Redemption 2 and it was a wild ride. Now that we are here, I can say this is the apex of gaming in my lifetime, the smoothest running highly detailed game I have ever seen, I am very thankful people are so dedicated to this that I was able to witness the entire evolution from pong to RDR2. I'm old, but I'm a gamer, always have been, as an adult I either have had gaming pc's or the latest consoles on 70" 4k tvs, it just makes me smile and think about 10 year old me, and how awesome this is compared to the old black and white spare tv in the basement playing Atari games like pitfall and breakout. End Rant, RDR2 is amazing, the sp side of it is unparalleled. Even the online side for a Beta is great! and only goign to get better, it is simply amazing and after playing it for a few months it is easy to get desensitized to it and forget how awesome this game really is.

  6. Oh, certainly. I just hate when it gets overused to the point of (for example) bunny hopping in some shooters. It's looks silly and can ruin the experience IMO. .....although there are ways devs can regulate the use some of these mechanics by introducing cool downs, fatigue, aiming penalties, etc. so folks can still use the feature but not over use it.

  7. Ya know, I didn't even make this connection and I played the first game like 4 times completely through. Good eye there man.

  8. The map and blips are explained in the HELP section in game. You dont see players on your map unless they are Dark Red (they are aggressive players either to NPCs or Players but not all are bad) where you can see them anywhere on the map. Blue icons you have to be extremely close unless they are bright blue which means they are in your posse. Purple can be spotted a bit further than blue because they are close to being considered aggressive (dark red). If you ever played the story then you know NPCs pop up on the radar/map as smaller versions of the player dots (bright red). They will ambush you from time to time, when you're finished killing them all you get bonus exp and it says "bandits cleared". Im sure you will run into this so.. bright red (regular sized blip) can only be seen in close proximity, and will usually show a general direction on your radar. You won't be able to see them on your map if they go far.

  10. I think I'm going to go ahead and move this from the Posse Recruitment forum into the main Online forum instead.

  11. No offense but this discussion is essentially the same arguments being hashed out in the main "How do you handle griefers/trolls" thread. .....and like that thread, any attempts at finding constructive solutions finding balance in Free Roam are going to be met with the typical remarks you see here. As such, I am going to merge this thread with the other.

  12. I suggest putting in a ticket with R*, I have one open with them right now about the map issue as well as the enemy despawning from hideouts when it's cleared. The more people put in tickets addressing this issue the better.

  13. What history did you study in school? Outlaws had no code, they robbed and killed innocent people without giving them a chance. You watched too many Westerns.

  14. Internet scummery is ubiquitous and an actual real stinking reality that we all have to deal with somehow or other nowadays. You can play different, for example the situations you just described with those "players" would play out much shorter and much worse for the i/s if it were me nonchalantly trying to mosey through. That wouldn't have been the case a few weeks ago before I started to see how things were though, I'll admit. Or, alternatively (my preferred choice) you can just choose not to "play" with them at all and not waste precious moments of your life in the unwelcome company of worthless life sucking nabobs and swap game/session/whatever, They make the most noise and stink around the interwebs but there really isn't that high a percentage of them, Predictably, most are as thick and witless as several planks too and generally easily avoided.

  16. Since I am here to answer Pepe, I hope Oz won't mind. It's level 90 mate 😕. 84 for explosive slugs. The ten R* gave me as a freebie are being held back for those "special" people that don't know when to mind their own business.

  17. A LOT of OUTFITS, ACTIONS, JOBS, LOCATIONS, NPCs (like Trappers, Natives, etc ) are NOT ONLINE ? WHY ?! At least what was in the single player should be in the ONLINE version. Or it will all feel EMPTY and BORING !!!

  19. Hello there friend, I am the Commissar of The Born Brothers Gang, I offer you a good welcome to the community and a best wishes in your endeavors. I see that you are looking for other Crews/Posse's to engage in a friendly (ours would be since you are not an enemy) scrimmage and good practice in battle, I believe my crew and I would enjoy having a practice battle with another posse. However we would only want to participate if you and your members switch to Free Aim during our event as we only use Free Aim as our settings. thank you and look forward to hearing from you soon.

  20. The fishing was cool though. I wish the fishing in RDR2 was more like the fishing in FC5.

  21. We used to call that "bumping your birdie". I dont know what the etymology is, but we did it a lot. Burnt cheese scraps is a favorite. (found on pizza boxes and dirty casserole pans)

  22. This is the impression I got. I think they want to get the game out of beta before they add in bigger things.

  23. Everything in this game wants to kill you and seemingly for no reason. Even npcs will shoot at you for bumping into them. You want NPCs to be passive too? You want the animals to stand still for you to shoot? You want to never be ambushed by NPCs as well? If I find a game I don't enjoy or is too difficult then I don't play it, not complain that it doesn't suit my needs. Yeah sure Rockstar did that promotion campaign of "fun and fair environment for everyone". But let's be real, human nature is ugly and will manifest no matter what. This isn't everyone gets a gold star for participation (maybe a little), this isn't no child left behind. You already got auto aim to help with lack of skill. Put on your big boy panties and get real.

  24. I don't mind the bounties much. They are cheap enough. I agree, if you make it completely peaceful, I would get bored and move on. If peaceful is what is wanted, story mode is what your looking for. If you want more peaceful than story mode, this game is not for you. R* isn't going to make a completely peaceful mode. Heck, Animals even try to kill you. I had a buck chase me for a couple minutes when I wasn't even trying to kill him.

  25. Foxtrot pretty much summed it up. btw, why do you think people will hate you? They may not agree with your points (I know I don't) but that doesn't mean we hate you. Makes no difference to me if someone doesn't like a game that I enjoy or vice versa.

  26. Yes, there's an enforced learning curve here - it doesn't last long until you're let loose in the world to hunt and find gang members (and innocents) to interact and maim. Yes, you're confined to walking in camp. You'll soon learn that you spend very little time in camp, only really going back to start missions or complete some challenges and other tasks. The story missions are scripted and you don't really get to see what kind they are before you take them on. Some of them are optional, but missing them impacts your ability to 100% complete the game. The missions don't last that long, and you can skip a lot of the cut scenes if you so wish. Fast travel is opened up when you gain enough money to upgrade the camp - you then have the ability to fast travel to the towns that you've already visited. Trains and stagecoaches can also be used as fast travel mechanisms.

  27. Passive mode should be an option but separate from their main free roam. The style of the game is meant to have players interact with each other on the basis of survival and taking over the wild west.

  28. IDK. I just broke level 70 and I went 4 days without being griefed and then last 2 days have been a shooting match. Mostly griefed after coming out of free rooms. Yes most have been noobs and I shot the whole posse up in one case (so proud of myself) Then you get the occasional hit and run who I like to torment by following them till they parley or sign off But I've also run across couple of high rank guys who I think are just bored wilth the game. One 234 level guy thanked me for fueding with him (and yes he thoroughly kicked my tush) I'm definitely in the they need private lobby's, content update and think they should put bounties that other players can collect on blood red griefers and let the community police itself (although that may devolve into chaos) Most red dots for me seem to be just players having posse fights, let them Duke it out in a private lobby without dumb killing tax

  29. Whoa look out here comes the mama comments. I go around griefing people and I am telling you how to deal with them. I am telling you how to handle griefers but you’re so butt hurt about it that you just want to target and talk smack. I am sticking to the topic while you just want to bitch on how they play the game. *** I am done here..
