Faelwolf
Looks like I am going to miss out on the chest, will be out of town Dec 23-25, with no way to play. The other stuff looks nice, but since I will not likely have a role etc. I wonder if it will be held until I get there. Just now 25% of download, going to likely be 3+ days to finish it up and actually get in the game. DSL sucks!

Mine's a very large desktop, I don't have a laptop that would even begin to play the game. The desktop is technically not powerful enough either, but I have seen a vid from someone with the same specs playing the game with no issue, and I have been very adept over the years getting things to work. I have thought of possibly doing a remote login, but don't think it will be worth the trouble and security risk for a few in-game trinkets. CosmoKramer
Sorry R*, I don’t give a **** about snow, pianos playing jingle bells, Xmas wreaths and a free hamper of shitty gifts while there are no animals in the game and I keep losing money hand over fist (and time) trying to play the moonshine content. Bah humbug.
ragedhunter11
Bout time. I want some freaking blizzards to make me feel like I am fighting for my life in the old west. It will make hunting more interesting too. I was on just a bit ago and haven't seen anything myself yet.

Mr. Bohannon
The temperatures have to reflect the snow too ..... can’t be 80 degrees out and snow on the ground in Saint Denis ...... trust me .... born and raised in Louisiana... lol
Dissention
Except for the fact that as a female character I get to wear my White and Pink winter "GTO style" outfit I care nothing about the snow. Hope it ain't going to get Blizzard like "wolfman 5* bounty". I'm prepared though. Obviously steps you can take to beat a blizzard. This is my list of Christmas presents R* has given me since last update (or my wish list of things they would fix)… Black screen of death. Moonshine disappears on crash Unable to enter moonshine shed and immediately after you can't mount or call your horse. Unable to loot some bodies Unable to hogtie some bounties that are tied with bolas Guns show up in wrong slots. Or wrong guns show up in the slots (that one's been lingering since day 1) Unable to get Cripps special stew to register for challenge Unable to enter cover or auto aim against Terminator Revenue agents. (If you going to make me free aim and I need 2 headshots against them at least let me enter cover) Large pelts/fish (again) and butchers disappear after fast travel. And NO *$#+&$%* ANIMALS! Sorry I'd go "moan" over at Reddit but I need to make a video or funny meme B4 I'd get some traction. Better yet I'd be quiet if they fixed 30% of this stuff Edited December 20, 2019 by Dissention

CosmoKramer
Seems like Cripps has gone into hibernation too - spawned into non-existent camp today and couldn’t set one up anywhere (option greyed out).
The_Liquor
For what it’s worth... my camp spawned (not in tall trees wheee I left it. But it was full there from what I could tell). I decided to work through a backlog of treasure maps as I wanted a second Navy Revolver. I travelled all over the map by horse, hunting away. I got two elk, multiple whitetail, multiple sheep, a pack of coyotes, a fox, various critters... enough to fill cripps up (I’d been ignoring him lately). The lowest number of players I observed on the server was 19. Then again, I might be a bad example as I very rarely noticed the animals spawning less... Faelwolf
Right now I am still playing the "Download RDR2O before you die of old age" mini game. So my question is, with the "winter storm" what effect is that going to have on a new player who isn't going to have winter clothing just starting out? Also how would a new player claim all these items if they don't have a camp? Will the items be waiting for them once they level up enough to have a camp, or do we just lose out until next year's goodies?

May need to get through a few initial story missions, don't quite remember, but after that it costs just 2 dollars to set up a camp (and every time you move it) and 1 dollar per game day to maintain it. As for no winter clothing, it's not too bad, just need to eat a bit more often to refill your health core.
The_Liquor
Yeah... it gets cold and your cores drain.... eat cooked meat from whatever critter you come across to maintain... being cold might make you fat (if you don’t dress warm enough) but it’s not the end of the world. For some reason I was thinking you had to be a trader to have a camp, don't know where that came from, maybe doing too much research and getting things jumbled together in this old noggin. I got notified this afternoon that our trip to father-in-laws house has been delayed to the 24th due to weather, so can grab the limited time box of goodies too. I have also discovered that the wife splurged and bought me the ultimate edition (she's never one to turn down a sale anywhere, and the sale price was about what she budgeted for the game, so yay me! ) and I am thinking the grizzly set (think that's what it's called) might be warm enough once I figure out how to get to the store to claim it, but nice to know I am gtg either way. I had thought she paid for the standard edition, so it's a nice surprise. With all this good news today, maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket......... KoiiBoii
I love this. They did a really good job on the snow fall. Looks realistic and adds beautiful details to some of the towns. I am hoping for the blizzard he talks about. Are you enjoying the holiday update?
shawn
I was just saying in another thread that I love the snow. I have yet to see a blizzard but I heard it was suppose start today. I just don't want it to become an inconvenience that slows down my PC.
Darconios
Made it harder to find yellow chantrelles... and everything lol The white background makes all white "herb" dead eye markers harder to see, It's doable. just less fun to find herbs for a week or so. Too bad since they took animals out of the game.. At least my horse got to swim for an hour in Lagras looking for a Gator.. hes very refreshed.. still no gator.. but he got a good mile swim in... Finding herbs is usually an alternate to hunting... gotta stock up sometimes. The bar music was horrid... unsure if xmas carols makes it better or worse. Definitely makes it harder to see certain things in eagle eye when you’re looking at the ground ... lol ... also they didn’t take animals out of the game .... it’s a major bug that will hopefully be fixed very soon.... hard to make money on the trade as well as doing the daily challenges

Yet another example of R* not really thinking through their latest application of turd polish. In saying that I only refer to tha game as a turd in its form since just before the moonshine update - I actually love the game we had when it functioned properly.
HuDawg
Anyone whos missing animals... Guess one current work around is starting legendary bounties..and just ignoring the bounty. You then get a living world to play in. Its basically a private lobby lite version. Spent a few hours doing that last night. Myself and few friends ended up filling our hunting wagons up. Agreed 10000%..... love this game so much more when it’s working correctly and the shine deal has loads of potential and the winter weather is awesome..... love that it’s dynamic.... changes like real life and all and they didn’t just blanket the board with snow.... it even slowly melts away ....as much as all the new bugs frustrate me and they do so badly.... I can’t stop playing... I keep hoping it will get corrected miraculously....; I’m hooked on it like Kenny Rogers chicken...... oh I gotta big problem Jerry .... lol
